Matthew 18
1 The same tyme the disciples came vnto Iesus saying: who is ye greatest in the kyngdome of heve?
En ce moment-là, les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et lui dirent: " Qui donc est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux? "
2 Iesus called a chylde vnto him and set him in the middes of them:
Jésus, faisant venir un petit enfant, le plaça au milieu d'eux
3 and sayd. Verely I say vnto you: except ye tourne and become as chyldren ye cannot enter into the kyngdom of heven.
et leur dit: " Je vous le dis, en vérité, si vous ne vous changez de façon à devenir comme les petits enfants, vous n'entrerez point dans le royaume des cieux.
4 Whosoever therfore humble him sylfe as this chylde the same is the greatest in ye kyngdome of heve.
Celui donc qui se fera humble comme ce petit enfant, est le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux.
5 And who soever receaveth suche a chylde in my name receaveth me.
Et celui qui reçoit en mon nom un petit enfant comme celui-ci, c'est moi qu'il reçoit.
6 But whosoever offende one of these lytelons which beleve in me: it were better for him that a milstone were hanged aboute his necke and that he were drouned in the depth of the see.
Mais celui qui scandalisera un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu'on lui attachât au cou la meule qu'un âne tourne, et qu'on le précipitât au fond de la mer.
7 Wo be vnto the world because of offences. How be it it cannot be avoided but yt offences shalbe geven. Neverthelesse woo be to ye man by who the offence cometh.
" Malheur au monde à cause des scandales! Il est nécessaire qu'il arrive des scandales; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le scandale arrive!
8 Wherfore yf thy honde or thy fote offende the cut him of and cast him from the. It ys better for the to enter into lyfe halt or maymed rather then thou shuldest havinge two hondes or two fete be cast into everlasting fyre. (aiōnios g166)
Si ta main ou ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi: il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie mutilé ou boiteux, que d'être jeté, ayant deux pieds ou deux mains, dans le feu éternel. (aiōnios g166)
9 And yf also thyne eye offende the plucke him oute and caste him from the. It is better for the to enter into lyfe with one eye then havyng two eyes to be cast into hell fyre. (Geenna g1067)
Et si ton œil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi: il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vie avec un seul œil, que d'être jeté, ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne du feu. (Geenna g1067)
10 Se that ye despise not one of these litelons. For I saye vnto you yt in heven their angels alwayes behold the face of my father which is in heven.
" Prenez garde de mépriser aucun de ces petits, car je vous dis que leurs anges dans le ciel voient sans cesse la face de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
11 Ye and the sonne of man is come to saue that which is lost.
" ( Car le Fils de l'homme est venu sauver ce qui était perdu. )
12 How thinke ye? Yf a man have an hondred shepe and one of them be gone astray dothe he not leve nynty and nyne in ye moutains and go and seke that one which is gone astray?
" Que vous en semble? Si un homme a cent brebis, et qu'une d'elles s'égare, ne laisse-t-il pas dans la montagne les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres, pour aller chercher celle qui s'est égarée?
13 If it happen that he fynd him veryly I say vnto you: he reioyseth more of that shepe then of the nynty and nyne which went not astray.
Et s'il a le bonheur de la trouver, je vous le dis en vérité, il a plus de joie pour elle que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées.
14 Even so it is not the wyll of youre father in heven that one of these lytelons shulde perishe.
De même c'est la volonté de votre Père qui est dans les cieux, qu'il ne se perde pas un seul de ces petits.
15 Moreover yf thy brother treaspace agenst the. Go and tell him his faute betwene him and the alone. Yf he heare the thou hast wone thy brother:
" Si ton frère a péché contre toi, va et reprends-le entre toi et lui seul; s'il t'écoute, tu auras gagné ton frère.
16 But yf he heare the not then take yet with the one or two that in the mouth of two or thre witnesses all thinges maye be stablisshed.
S'il ne t'écoute pas, prends avec toi encore une ou deux personnes, afin que toute cause se décide sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins.
17 If he heare not them tell it vnto the congregacion. If he heare not ye congregacion take him as an hethen man and as a publican.
S'il ne les écoute pas, dis-le à l'Eglise; et s'il n'écoute pas non plus l'Eglise, qu'il soit pour toi comme un païen et un publicain.
18 Verely I say vnto you what soever ye bynde on erth shalbe bounde in heven. And what soever ye lowse on erth shalbe lowsed in heven.
En vérité, je vous le dis, tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel, et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel.
19 Agayn I say vnto you that yf two of you shall agre in erth apon eny maner thynge what soever they shall desyre: it shalbe geven them of my father which is in heven.
" Je vous le dis encore, si deux d'entre vous s'accordent sur la terre, quelque chose qu'ils demandent, ils l'obtiendront de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
20 For where two or thre are gathered togedder in my name there am I in the myddes of them.
Car là où deux ou trois sont assemblés en mon nom, je suis au milieu d'eux. "
21 Then came Peter to him and sayde: master howe ofte shall I forgeve my brother yf he synne agaynst me seven tymes?
Alors Pierre s'approchant de lui: " Seigneur, dit-il, si mon frère pèche contre moi, combien de fois lui pardonnerai-je? Sera-ce jusqu'à sept fois? "
22 Iesus sayd vnto him: I saye not vnto the seven tymes: but seventy tymes seven tymes.
Jésus lui dit: " Je ne te dis pas jusqu'à sept fois, mais jusqu'à septante fois sept fois.
23 Therfore is ye kingdome of heven lykened vnto a certayne kynge which wolde take a countis of his servauntis.
" C'est pourquoi le royaume des cieux est semblable à un roi qui voulut régler ses comptes avec ses serviteurs.
24 And when he had begone to recken one was broughte vnto him whiche ought him ten thousande talentis:
Le règlement des comptes étant commencé, on lui amena un homme qui lui devait dix mille talents.
25 whome be cause he had nought to paye his master commaunded him to be solde and his wyfe and his chyldren and all that he had and payment to be made.
Comme il n'avait pas de quoi payer, son maître ordonna qu'on le vendît, lui, sa femme, ses enfants et tout ce qu'il avait pour acquitter sa dette.
26 The servaunt fell doune and besought him sayinge: Sir geve me respyte and I wyll paye it every whit.
Le serviteur, se jetant à ses pieds, le conjurait en disant: Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout.
27 Then had the Lorde pytie on that servaunt and lowsed him and forgave him the det.
Touché de compassion, le maître de ce serviteur le laissa aller et lui remit sa dette.
28 And ye sayde servaut wet oute and founde one of his felowes which ought him an hundred pence and leyed hondes on him and toke him by the throote sayinge: paye me yt thou owest.
Le serviteur, à peine sorti, rencontra un de ses compagnons qui lui devait cent deniers. Le saisissant à la gorge, il l'étouffait en disant: Paie ce que tu dois.
29 And his felowe fell doune and besought him sayinge: have pacience with me and I wyll paye the all.
Son compagnon, se jetant à ses pieds, le conjurait en disant: Aie patience envers moi, et je te paierai tout.
30 And he wolde not but went and cast him into preson tyll he shulde paye the det.
Mais lui, sans vouloir l'entendre, s'en alla et le fit mettre en prison jusqu'à ce qu'il payât sa dette.
31 When his other felowes sawe what was done they were very sory and came and tolde vnto their lorde all yt had happened.
Ce que voyant, les autres serviteurs en furent tout contristés, et ils vinrent raconter à leur maître ce qui s'était passé.
32 Then his lorde called him and sayde vnto him. O evyll servaut I forgave the all that det because thou prayedst me: was it not mete also yt thou
Alors le maître l'appela et lui dit: Serviteur méchant, je t'avais remis toute ta dette, parce que tu m'en avais supplié.
33 shuldest have had copassion on thy felow even as I had pitie on ye?
Ne devais-tu pas avoir pitié de ton compagnon, comme j'ai eu pitié de toi?
34 And his lorde was wrooth and delyuered him to the iaylers tyll he shnld paye all that was due to him.
Et son maître irrité le livra aux exécuteurs, jusqu'à ce qu'il eût payé toute sa dette.
35 So lyke wyse shall my hevenly father do vnto you except ye forgeve with youre hertes eache one to his brother their treaspases.
Ainsi vous traitera mon Père céleste, si chacun de vous ne pardonne à son frère du fond de son cœur. "
