Matthew 11
1 And it came to passe when Iesus had made an ende of comaundinge his. xii. disciples that he departed thence to teache and to preache in their cities.
Amikor elvégezte Jézus a tizenkét tanítványnak adott utasítást, elment onnan, hogy tanítson és prédikáljon a városokban.
2 When Ihon beinge in preson hearde ye workes of Christ he sent two of his disciples
János pedig, amikor a fogságban ülve hallott Krisztus cselekedeteiről, elküldött hozzá kettőt tanítványai közül.
3 and sayde vnto him. Arte thou he that shall come: or shall we loke for another.
Ezt mondta neki: „Te vagy-e az, aki eljövendő, vagy pedig mást várjunk?“
4 Iesus answered and sayde vnto them. Go and shewe Ihon what ye have hearde and sene.
Jézus ezt mondta nekik: „Menjetek el, és jelentsétek Jánosnak, amiket hallotok és láttok:
5 The blynd se the halt goo the lepers are clensed: the deef heare the ded ryse ageyne and the glad tidinges is preached to the povre.
a vakok látnak, a sánták járnak, a poklosok megtisztulnak, a süketek hallanak, a halottak feltámadnak, és a szegényeknek evangélium hirdettetik.
6 And happy is he that is not offended by me.
Boldog, aki énbennem meg nem botránkozik.“
7 And as they departed Iesus begane to speake vnto the people of Ihon. What for to se wet ye out in to the wyldernes? wet ye out to se a rede shake with ye wynde?
Amikor pedig ezek elmentek, Jézus beszélni kezdett a sokasághoz Jánosról: „Mit mentetek ki látni a pusztába? Nádszálat, amit a szél hajtogat?
8 other what wet ye out for to se? A man clothed in soofte raymet: ? Beholde they yt weare soofte clothig are in kynges howses.
Vagy mit mentetek ki látni? Puha ruhába öltözött embert? Akik puha ruhákat viselnek, királyok palotáiban vannak.
9 But what wet ye oute for to se? A prophete? Ye I saye to you and more the a prophete.
Vagy mit mentetek ki látni? Prófétát? Bizony mondom néktek, prófétánál is nagyobbat.
10 For this is he of who it is wrytte. Beholde I sende my messenger before thy face which shall prepare thy waye before ye.
Mert ő az, akiről meg van írva: »Íme, elküldöm követemet a te arcod előtt, aki elkészíti előtted utadat.«
11 Verely I saye vnto you amonge ye chyldren of wemen arose there not a gretter then Ihon the baptist. Notwithstondinge he that ys lesse in the kyngdome of heven ys gretter then he.
Bizony mondom néktek: az asszonyoktól születettek között nem támadott nagyobb Keresztelő Jánosnál; de aki a legkisebb a mennyek országában, nagyobb nála.
12 From the tyme of Ihon Baptist hytherto ye kyngdome of heve suffreth violence and they that go to it with violence pluck it vnto them.
Keresztelő János idejétől fogva mind a mai napig erőszakoskodnak a mennyek országáért, és az erőszakoskodók ragadják el azt.
13 For all the prophetes and the lawe prophesyed vnto to the tyme of Ihon.
Mert minden próféta, és a törvény Jánosig ezt prófétálta.
14 Also yf ye wyll receave it this is Helyas which shuld come.
És ha tudni akarjátok, ő Illés, akinek el kell jönnie.
15 He yt hathe eares to heare let him heare.
Akinek van füle a hallásra, hallja meg.
16 But wher vnto shall I lyken this generacion? It ys lyke vnto chyldre which syt in the market and call vnto their felowes
Kihez hasonlítsam ezt a nemzetséget? Hasonlatos a gyermekekhez, akik a piacon ülnek, és kiáltoznak társaiknak:
17 and saye: we have pyped vnto you and ye have not daunsed? We have morned vnto you and ye have not sorowed.
»Sípoltunk nektek és nem táncoltatok; siralmas énekeket énekeltünk nektek, és nem sírtatok.«
18 For Ihon came nether eatinge nor drinkinge and they saye he hath the devyll.
Mert eljött János, aki nem eszik, nem iszik, és ezt mondják: Ördög van benne.
19 The sonne of man came eatinge and drinkinge and they saye beholde a glutton and drynker of wyne and a frend vnto publicas and synners. Never the later wysdome ys iustified of hir children.
Eljött az Emberfia, aki eszik és iszik, és ezt mondják: Íme, a nagyétkű és részeges ember, a vámszedők és bűnösök barátja. De a bölcsesség fiai igazolni fogják.“
20 Then bega he to vpbrayd the cities in which most of his miracles were done because they meded not.
Ekkor elkezdett szemrehányást tenni azoknak a városoknak, melyekben a legtöbb csoda történt, hogy nem tértek meg:
21 Wo be to ye Chorasin. Wo be to ye Betzaida: for if the miracles which were shewd in you had bene done in Tyre and Sidon they had repented longe agone in sackcloth and asshes.
„Jaj néked, Korazin! Jaj néked, Bétsaida! Mert ha Tíruszban és Szidónban történtek volna azok a csodák, amelyek bennetek voltak, rég megtértek volna gyászruhában és hamuban.
22 Neverthelesse I say to you: it shall be esier for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgemet then for you.
De mondom nektek: Tírusznak és Szidónnak könnyebb dolga lesz az ítélet napján, mint nektek.
23 And thou Capernau which art lift vp vnto heve shalt be brought doune to hell. For if the miracles which have bene done in the had bene shewed in zodom: they had remayned to this daye. (Hadēs g86)
Te is Kapernaum, aki az égig felmagasztaltattál, a pokolig fogsz megaláztatni! Mert ha Sodomában történtek volna azok a csodák, amelyek tebenned történtek, mind a mai napig megmaradt volna. (Hadēs g86)
24 Neverthelesse I saye vnto you: it shalbe easiar for ye londe of zodo in the daye of iudgemet the for ye.
De mondom nektek, hogy Sodoma földjének könnyebb dolga lesz az ítélet napján, mint neked.“
25 At yt tyme Iesus answered and sayd: I prayse ye o father lorde of heve and erth because thou hast hid these thinges fro the wyse and prudet and hast opened the vnto babes:
Abban az időben így szólt Jézus, és ezt mondta: „Hálát adok néked, Atyám, mennynek és földnek Ura, mert elrejtetted ezeket a bölcsek és értelmesek elől, és a kicsinyeknek jelentetted ki.
26 eve so father for so it pleased ye.
Igen, Atyám, mert így volt kedves előtted.
27 All thinges are geve vnto me of my father. And noma knoweth ye sonne but ye father: nether knoweth eny ma ye father save ye sonne and he to whome ye sonne will ope him.
Mindent nekem adott át Atyám, és senki sem ismeri a Fiút, csak az Atya, és az Atyát sem ismeri senki, csak a Fiú, és az, akinek a Fiú akarja kijelentetni.
28 Come vnto me all ye that laboure and are laden and I wyll ease you.
Jöjjetek énhozzám mindnyájan, akik megfáradtatok, és meg vagytok terhelve, és én megnyugtatlak titeket.
29 Take my yoke on you and lerne of me for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynd rest vnto youre soules.
Vegyétek föl magatokra az én igámat, és tanuljátok meg tőlem, hogy szelíd és alázatos szívű vagyok, és nyugalmat találtok lelketeknek.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Mert az én igám gyönyörűséges, és az én terhem könnyű.“
