Luke 8
1 And it fortuned after that that he him sylfe went throughout cities and tounes preachynge and shewinge ye kyngdom of God and the twelve with him.
Il arriva ensuite que Jésus parcourait les villes et les villages, prêchant et annonçant l’Evangile du royaume de Dieu. Et les douze étaient avec lui,
2 And also certayne wemen which wer healed of evell spretes and infirmities: Mary called Magdalen out of whom went seven devyls
comme aussi quelques femmes, qui avaient été guéries d’esprits malins et de maladies: Marie, appelée Madeleine, de laquelle sept démons étaient sortis;
3 and Ioanna ye wyfe of Chusa Herodees stewarde and Susanna and many other: which ministred vnto the of their substaunce.
Jeanne, femme de Chusa, intendant d’Hérode, et Suzanne, et beaucoup d’autres, qui l’assistaient de leurs biens.
4 When moch people were gadred to gether and were come to him out of all cities he spake by a similitude.
Or, comme une grande foule s’était assemblée, et qu’on accourait des villes auprès de lui, il dit en parabole:
5 A sower went out to sowe his seede: and as he sowed some fell by the waye syde and it was troden vnder fete and the foules of the ayre devoured it vp.
Celui qui sème alla semer sa semence. Et tandis qu’il semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin; et elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
6 And some fell on ston and assone as it was spronge vp it widdred awaye because it lacked moystnes.
Une autre partie tomba sur la pierre; et ayant levé, elle sécha, parce qu’elle n’avait pas d’humidité.
7 And some fell amonge thornes and ye thornes spronge vp with it and choked it.
Une autre tomba au milieu des épines; et les épines, croissant avec elle, l’étouffèrent.
8 And some fell on good grounde and sproge vp and bare frute an hondred foolde. And as he sayde these thinges he cryed: He that hath eares to heare let him heare.
Une autre partie tomba dans une bonne terre, et, ayant levé, elle porta du fruit au centuple. En disant cela, il criait: Que celui-là entende, qui a des oreilles pour entendre.
9 And his disciples axed him sayinge: what maner similitude is this?
Ses disciples lui demandèrent ensuite ce que signifiait cette parabole.
10 And he sayde: vnto you is it geven to knowe the secretes of the kyngdom of God: but to other in similitudes that when they se they shuld not se: and when they heare they shuld not vnderstonde.
Il leur dit: A vous il a été donné de connaître le mystère du royaume de Dieu; mais aux autres il n’est proposé qu’en paraboles, afin que, regardant, ils ne voient pas, et qu’entendant, ils ne comprennent pas.
11 The similitude is this. The seede is ye worde of God.
Voici le sens de cette parabole. La semence, c’est la parole de Dieu.
12 Thoose yt are besyde the waye are they that heare and afterwarde cometh ye devyll and taketh awaye the worde out of their hertes lest they shuld beleve and be saved.
Ceux qui sont le long du chemin sont ceux qui écoutent; ensuite le diable vient, et enlève de leur cœur la parole, de peur qu’ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
13 They on the stonnes are they which when they heare receave the worde with ioye. But these have noo rootes which for a whyle beleve and in tyme of temtacio goo awaye.
Ceux qui sont sur la pierre sont ceux qui, entendant la parole, la reçoivent avec joie; mais ils n’ont pas de racines: ils croient pour un temps, et au moment de la tentation ils se retirent.
14 And yt which fell amonge thornes are they which heare and goo forth and are choked wt cares and wt riches and volupteous lyvinge and bringe forth noo frute.
Ce qui tombe parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont écouté la parole, et qui s’en vont et sont étouffés par les sollicitudes, les richesses et les plaisirs de la vie, et ils ne portent pas de fruit.
15 That in ye good grounde are they which with a good and pure hert heare the worde and kepe it and bringe forth frute with pacience.
Ce qui tombe dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui, ayant écouté la parole avec un cœur bon et excellent, la retiennent, et portent du fruit par la patience.
16 No man lyghteth a candell and covereth it vnder a vessell nether putteth it vnder ye table: but setteth it on a candelsticke that they that enter in maye se ye lyght.
Personne, après avoir allumé une lampe, ne la couvre d’un vase ou ne la met sous un lit; mais il la met sur un candélabre, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
17 No thinge is in secret yt shall not come abroode: Nether eny thinge hyd that shall not be knowen and come to lyght.
Car il n’y a rien de caché qui ne soit manifesté, ni rien de secret qui ne soit connu et ne vienne au grand jour.
18 Take hede therfore how ye heare. For whosoever hath to him shalbe geve: And whosoever hath not fro him shalbe take even that same which he supposeth that he hath.
Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez. Car à celui qui a, on donnera; et à celui qui n’a pas, on ôtera même ce qu’il croit avoir.
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren and coulde not come at him for prease.
Cependant, sa mère et ses frères vinrent auprès de lui, et ils ne pouvaient l’aborder, à cause de la foule.
20 And they tolde him sayinge: Thy mother and thy brethren stonde with out and wolde se the.
On l’en avertit: Votre mère et vos frères sont dehors et veulent vous voir.
21 He answered and sayd vnto them: my mother and my brethren are these which heare the worde of God and do it.
Et répondant, il leur dit: Ma mère et mes frères, ce sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la pratiquent.
22 And it chaunsed on a certayne daye that he went into a shippe and his disciples also and he sayde vnto them: Let vs goo over vnto the other syde of the lake. And they Lanched forthe.
Or il arriva qu’un de ces jours, il monta sur une barque avec ses disciples; et il leur dit: Passons de l’autre côté du lac. Et ils partirent.
23 And as they sayled he fell a slepe and there arose a storme of wynde in ye lake and they were fylled with water and were in ieopardy.
Pendant qu’ils naviguaient, il s’endormit; et un tourbillon de vent fondit sur le lac, et la barque se remplissait d’eau, et ils étaient en péril.
24 And they went to him and awoke him sayinge: Master Master we are loost. Then he arose and rebuked the wynde and the tempest of water and they ceased and it wexed calme.
S’approchant donc, ils l’éveillèrent, en disant: Maître, nous périssons. Mais lui, s’étant levé, menaça le vent et les flots agités; et ils s’apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
25 And he sayd vnto the: where is youre faith? They feared and wondred sayinge one to another: what felowe is this? for he comaundeth bothe the wyndes and water and they obey him?
Alors il leur dit: Où est votre foi? Mais eux, remplis de crainte et d’admiration, se disaient l’un à l’autre: Quel est donc celui-ci, qui commande aux vents et à la mer, et ils lui obéissent?
26 And they sayled vnto the region of ye Gaderenites which is over agaynst Galile.
Ils abordèrent dans le pays des Géraséniens, qui est en face de la Galilée.
27 And as he went out to londe ther met him a certayne man out of ye cite which had a devyll longe tyme and ware noo clothes nether aboode in eny housse: but amonge graves.
Et lorsque Jésus fut descendu à terre, il vint au-devant de lui un homme qui était possédé du démon depuis longtemps déjà, et qui ne portait pas de vêtement, et qui ne demeurait pas dans une maison, mais dans les sépulcres.
28 When he sawe Iesus he cryed and fell doune before him and with a loude voyce sayde: What have I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the God moost hyest? I beseche the torment me not.
Dès qu’il eut vu Jésus, il se prosterna devant lui, et poussant un grand cri, il dit: Qu’y a-t-il entre vous et moi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu très haut? Je vous en conjure, ne me tourmentez pas.
29 Then he comaunded ye foule sprete to come out of the man. For ofte tymes he caught him and he was bounde with chaynes and kept with fetters: and he brake the bondes and was caryed of the fende into wyldernes.
Car il commandait à l’esprit impur de sortir de cet homme. Il s’était, en effet, emparé de lui depuis longtemps, et quoiqu’on le gardât lié de chaînes et les fers aux pieds, il rompait ses liens, et était entraîné par le démon dans les déserts.
30 And Iesus axed him sayinge: what is thy name? And he sayde: Legion because many devyls were entred into him.
Jésus l’interrogea, en disant: Quel est ton nom? Il répondit: Légion; car de nombreux démons étaient entrés en lui.
Et ils le suppliaient de ne pas leur commander de s’en aller dans l’abîme. (Abyssos g12)
32 And ther was there by an heerde of many swyne fedynge on an hyll: and they besought him yt he wolde soffre the to enter into the. And he soffred the.
Or il y avait là un grand troupeau de pourceaux, qui paissaient sur la montagne; et les démons le suppliaient de leur permettre d’entrer dans ces pourceaux. Et il le leur permit.
33 Then went the devyls out of the man and entred into the swyne: And the heerd toke their course and ran heedlynge into the lake and were choked.
Les démons sortirent donc de cet homme, et entrèrent dans les pourceaux; et le troupeau alla se précipiter impétueusement dans le lac, et se noya.
34 When the herdmen sawe what had chaunsed they fleed and tolde it in the cite and in the villages.
Quand ceux qui les faisaient paître eurent vu ce qui était arrivé, ils s’enfuirent, et ils l’annoncèrent dans la ville et dans les campagnes.
35 And they came out to se what was done: and came to Iesus and founde ye man out of who the devyls were departed sittynge at the fete of Iesus clothed and in his right mynde and they were afrayde.
Les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé, et ils vinrent auprès de Jésus; et ils trouvèrent l’homme, de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu, et plein de bons sens; et ils furent saisis de crainte.
36 They also wich sawe it tolde the by what meanes he yt was possessed of ye devyll was healed.
Ceux qui avaient vu ce qui s’était passé leur racontèrent comment il avait été délivré de la légion.
37 And all the whole multitude of ye cotrye of the Gaderenites besought him yt he wolde departe from the: for they were taken wt greate feare. And he gate him into the shippe and returned backe agayne.
Alors tout le peuple du pays des Géraséniens pria Jésus de s’éloigner d’eux, car ils étaient saisis d’une grande crainte. Et lui, montant dans la barque, s’en retourna.
38 Then the man out of whom the devyls were departed besought him yt he myght be wt him: But Iesus sent him awaye sayinge:
Et l’homme de qui les démons étaient sortis lui demandait de rester avec lui. Mais Jésus le renvoya, en disant:
39 Goo home agayne into thyne awne housse and shewe what great thinges God hath done to ye. And he went his waye and preached thorow out all the cite what great thinges Iesus had done vnto him.
Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte les grandes choses que Dieu t’a faites. Et il s’en alla par toute la ville, publiant les grandes choses que Jésus lui avait faites.
40 And it fortuned when Iesus was come agayne that ye people receaved him. For they all wayted for him.
Or il arriva que Jésus, à son retour, fut reçu par la foule: car tous l’attendaient.
41 And beholde ther came a man named Iairus (and he was a ruler of ye synagoge) and he fell doune at Iesus fete and besought him yt he wolde come into his housse
Et voici qu’un homme, nommé Jaïre, qui était chef de la synagogue, vint et se jeta aux pieds de Jésus, le suppliant d’entrer dans sa maison,
42 for he had but a doughter only apon a twelve yere of age and she laye a dyinge. And as he went the people thronged him.
parce qu’il avait une fille unique, âgée d’environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Et il arriva qu’en y allant il était pressé par la foule.
43 And a woman havynge an issue of bloud twelve yeres (which had spent all her substance amonge phisicios nether coulde be holpen of eny)
Et une femme qui souffrait d’une perte de sang depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu’aucun eût pu la guérir,
44 came behinde him and touched the hem of his garmet and immediatly her issue of bloud staunched.
s’approcha par derrière, et toucha la frange de son vêtement; et aussitôt sa perte de sang s’arrêta.
45 And Iesus sayde: Who is it that touched me? when every man denyed Peter and they yt were with him sayde: Master the people thrust the and vexe the: and sayest thou who touched me?
Et Jésus dit: Qui est-ce qui m’a touché? Mais comme tous s’en défendaient, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui répondirent: Maître, les foules vous pressent et vous accablent, et vous dites: Qui m’a touché?
46 And Iesus sayd: Some body touched me. For I perceave that vertue is gone out of me.
Et Jésus dit: Quelqu’un m’a touché, car j’ai connu qu’une vertu était sortie de moi.
47 When the woman sawe that she was not hid she came trimblynge and fell at is fete and tolde him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediatly.
Alors la femme, voyant qu’elle n’avait pu rester cachée, vint toute tremblante, et se jeta à ses pieds; et elle déclara devant tout le peuple pour quel motif elle l’avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l’instant.
48 And he sayde vnto hyr: Doughter be of good comforte Thy faith hath made the hoale goo in peace.
Et Jésus lui dit: Ma fille, ta foi t’a sauvée; va en paix.
49 Whyll he yet spake there came one from ye rulers of the synagogis housse which sayde to him: thy doughter is deed disease not the master.
Comme il parlait encore, quelqu’un vint dire au chef de synagogue: Ta fille est morte; ne l’importune pas.
50 When Iesus hearde that He answered the father sayinge: Feare not beleve only and she shalbe made whole.
Mais Jésus, ayant entendu cette parole, dit au père de la jeune fille: Ne crains pas; crois seulement, et elle vivra.
51 And when he came to ye housse he suffred no man to goo in with him save Peter Iames and Iohn and the father and the mother of the mayden.
Et lorsqu’il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne permit à personne d’entrer avec lui, si ce n’est à Pierre, à Jacques et à Jean, et au père et à la mère de la jeune fille.
52 Every body weept and sorowed for her. And he sayde: Wepe not: for she is not deed but slepeth.
Or, tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle. Mais il dit: Ne pleurez pas; la jeune fille n’est pas morte, mais elle dort.
53 And they lewgh him to scorne. For they knew that she was deed.
Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant qu’elle était morte.
54 And he thrust the all out and caught her by the honde and cryed sayinge: Mayde aryse.
Mais lui, la prenant par la main, s’écria, en disant: Jeune fille, lève-toi.
55 And hyr sprete came agayne and she roose strayght waye. And he commaunded to geve her meate.
Et son esprit revint, et elle se leva aussitôt. Et il ordonna de lui donner à manger.
56 And the father and the mother of hyr were astonyed. But he warned the that they shuld tell noo man what was done.
Ses parents furent remplis d’étonnement; et il leur commanda de ne dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
