Luke 8
1 And it fortuned after that that he him sylfe went throughout cities and tounes preachynge and shewinge ye kyngdom of God and the twelve with him.
Ensuite Jésus alla de ville en ville et de village en village, prêchant et annonçant la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu.
2 And also certayne wemen which wer healed of evell spretes and infirmities: Mary called Magdalen out of whom went seven devyls
Il était accompagné des Douze et de quelques femmes qu'il avait guéries des mauvais esprits et de leurs maladies; c’était Marie, appelée Madeleine, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons,
3 and Ioanna ye wyfe of Chusa Herodees stewarde and Susanna and many other: which ministred vnto the of their substaunce.
Jeanne, femme de Chouza, intendant d'Hérode, Suzanne et plusieurs autres qui l'assistaient de leurs biens, lui et ses disciples.
4 When moch people were gadred to gether and were come to him out of all cities he spake by a similitude.
Un jour que s'était amassée une foule nombreuse, grossie de ceux qui de ville en ville venaient vers lui, il leur dit en parabole:
5 A sower went out to sowe his seede: and as he sowed some fell by the waye syde and it was troden vnder fete and the foules of the ayre devoured it vp.
«Un semeur sortit pour faire ses semailles; et, comme il semait, une partie de la semence tomba le long du chemin; elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
6 And some fell on ston and assone as it was spronge vp it widdred awaye because it lacked moystnes.
Une autre partie tomba sur le roc: elle poussa et sécha, parce qu'elle manquait d'humidité.
7 And some fell amonge thornes and ye thornes spronge vp with it and choked it.
Une autre partie tomba au milieu des épines; et les épines poussant avec la semence, l’étouffèrent.
8 And some fell on good grounde and sproge vp and bare frute an hondred foolde. And as he sayde these thinges he cryed: He that hath eares to heare let him heare.
Enfin une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, elle poussa et produisit du fruit au centuple.» Puis il ajouta à haute voix: «Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende.»
9 And his disciples axed him sayinge: what maner similitude is this?
Ses disciples lui ayant demandé ce que signifiait cette parabole,
10 And he sayde: vnto you is it geven to knowe the secretes of the kyngdom of God: but to other in similitudes that when they se they shuld not se: and when they heare they shuld not vnderstonde.
il répondit: «Pour vous, il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume de Dieu; mais pour les autres, ce n'est qu'en paraboles, afin qu’en regardant, ils ne voient point, et qu'en entendant, ils ne comprennent point.»
11 The similitude is this. The seede is ye worde of God.
Voici donc le sens de cette parabole: La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
12 Thoose yt are besyde the waye are they that heare and afterwarde cometh ye devyll and taketh awaye the worde out of their hertes lest they shuld beleve and be saved.
Ceux qui reçoivent la semence le long du chemin, sont ceux qui entendent la Parole; ensuite le diable vient, et il l'enlève de leur coeur, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
13 They on the stonnes are they which when they heare receave the worde with ioye. But these have noo rootes which for a whyle beleve and in tyme of temtacio goo awaye.
Ceux qui reçoivent la semence sur le roc, sont ceux qui reçoivent la Parole avec joie, dès qu'ils l'entendent, mais qui, n'ayant pas de racines, ne croient que pour un temps, et font défection au moment de l'épreuve.
14 And yt which fell amonge thornes are they which heare and goo forth and are choked wt cares and wt riches and volupteous lyvinge and bringe forth noo frute.
Quant à la partie qui est tombée parmi les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont entendu la Parole, et qui, en cheminant, la laissent étouffer par les soucis, par les richesses et par les plaisirs de la vie, et ne donnent que des fruits avortés.
15 That in ye good grounde are they which with a good and pure hert heare the worde and kepe it and bringe forth frute with pacience.
Quant à la partie qui est tombée dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui entendent la Parole avec un coeur honnête et bon, la conservent, et portent du fruit avec persévérance.
16 No man lyghteth a candell and covereth it vnder a vessell nether putteth it vnder ye table: but setteth it on a candelsticke that they that enter in maye se ye lyght.
«Il n'est personne, qui, après avoir allumé une lampe, la couvre d'un vase, ou la mette sous un lit; mais on la met sur un pied, afin que ceux qui entrent voient clair.
17 No thinge is in secret yt shall not come abroode: Nether eny thinge hyd that shall not be knowen and come to lyght.
Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne se découvre, ni rien de secret qui ne finisse par être connu, et ne vienne au grand jour.
18 Take hede therfore how ye heare. For whosoever hath to him shalbe geve: And whosoever hath not fro him shalbe take even that same which he supposeth that he hath.
Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez; car on donnera à celui qui a, mais pour celui qui n'a pas, on lui ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir.»
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren and coulde not come at him for prease.
Cependant la mère et les frères de Jésus étaient venus le trouver, et ne pouvaient arriver jusqu’à lui, à cause de la foule.
20 And they tolde him sayinge: Thy mother and thy brethren stonde with out and wolde se the.
On l'en informa en lui disant: «Ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui désirent te voir.»
21 He answered and sayd vnto them: my mother and my brethren are these which heare the worde of God and do it.
Il répondit: «Ma mère et mes frères sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu, et qui la mettent en pratique.»
22 And it chaunsed on a certayne daye that he went into a shippe and his disciples also and he sayde vnto them: Let vs goo over vnto the other syde of the lake. And they Lanched forthe.
Un jour il entra dans une barque avec ses disciples, et leur dit: «Passons de l'autre côté du lac; » et ils partirent.
23 And as they sayled he fell a slepe and there arose a storme of wynde in ye lake and they were fylled with water and were in ieopardy.
Pendant qu'ils naviguaient, Jésus s'endormit, et un ouragan ayant fondu sur le lac, la barque se remplissait d'eau; et ils étaient en péril.
24 And they went to him and awoke him sayinge: Master Master we are loost. Then he arose and rebuked the wynde and the tempest of water and they ceased and it wexed calme.
Les disciples s'approchèrent de Jésus et le réveillèrent en disant: «Maître, maître, nous périssons.» Jésus se leva, tança lèvent et les flots: ils s'apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
25 And he sayd vnto the: where is youre faith? They feared and wondred sayinge one to another: what felowe is this? for he comaundeth bothe the wyndes and water and they obey him?
Puis il dit à ses disciples: «où est votre foi?» Pour eux, saisis de frayeur et d'étonnement, ils se disaient les uns aux autres: «Quel est donc cet homme, qu'il commande aux vents et à l'eau, et qu'ils lui obéissent?»
26 And they sayled vnto the region of ye Gaderenites which is over agaynst Galile.
Puis ils abordèrent au pays des Gadaréniens, qui est vis-à-vis de la Galilée.
27 And as he went out to londe ther met him a certayne man out of ye cite which had a devyll longe tyme and ware noo clothes nether aboode in eny housse: but amonge graves.
Quand Jésus fut descendu à terre, il rencontra un homme de la ville, qui depuis longtemps était possédé des démons: il ne portait point de vêtement, et demeurait non dans une maison, mais dans les sépulcres.
28 When he sawe Iesus he cryed and fell doune before him and with a loude voyce sayde: What have I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the God moost hyest? I beseche the torment me not.
Dès qu'il vit Jésus, il poussa un cri, se jeta à ses pieds, et dit d'une voix forte: «Qu'y a-t-il entre toi et moi, Jésus, Fils du Dieu Très-Haut? Je t'en prie, ne me tourmente pas.»
29 Then he comaunded ye foule sprete to come out of the man. For ofte tymes he caught him and he was bounde with chaynes and kept with fetters: and he brake the bondes and was caryed of the fende into wyldernes.
Jésus, en effet, commandait à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme; car depuis longtemps l’esprit l'emportait avec lui: on avait beau le garder enchaîné et les fers aux pieds, il brisait ses liens et était entraîné par le démon dans les déserts.
30 And Iesus axed him sayinge: what is thy name? And he sayde: Legion because many devyls were entred into him.
Jésus lui demanda: «Quel est ton nom?» — «Légion, » répondit-il; en effet, plusieurs démons étaient entrés dans cet homme;
et il se mit à supplier Jésus de ne point commander à ces démons d'aller dans l'abîme. (Abyssos g12)
32 And ther was there by an heerde of many swyne fedynge on an hyll: and they besought him yt he wolde soffre the to enter into the. And he soffred the.
Or, il y avait là un grand troupeau de pourceaux qui paissaient sur la montagne, et les démons le supplièrent de leur permettre d'aller dans ces pourceaux; et il le leur permit.
33 Then went the devyls out of the man and entred into the swyne: And the heerd toke their course and ran heedlynge into the lake and were choked.
Étant donc sortis de cet homme, ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau se rua du haut du précipice dans le lac, et se noya.
34 When the herdmen sawe what had chaunsed they fleed and tolde it in the cite and in the villages.
A cette vue, les gardeurs s'enfuirent, et répandirent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
35 And they came out to se what was done: and came to Iesus and founde ye man out of who the devyls were departed sittynge at the fete of Iesus clothed and in his right mynde and they were afrayde.
Les gens sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé; ils vinrent vers Jésus et trouvèrent l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu et dans son bon sens; ce qui les remplit de frayeur.
36 They also wich sawe it tolde the by what meanes he yt was possessed of ye devyll was healed.
Les témoins de ce fait leur rapportèrent aussi comment le démoniaque avait été guéri.
37 And all the whole multitude of ye cotrye of the Gaderenites besought him yt he wolde departe from the: for they were taken wt greate feare. And he gate him into the shippe and returned backe agayne.
Toute la population de la contrée voisine des Gadaréniens le pria de s'éloigner de chez eux, parce qu'ils étaient en proie à une grande frayeur: Jésus étant entré dans la barque, s'en retourna.
38 Then the man out of whom the devyls were departed besought him yt he myght be wt him: But Iesus sent him awaye sayinge:
L'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, lui demanda de rester avec lui, mais Jésus le renvoya en lui disant:
39 Goo home agayne into thyne awne housse and shewe what great thinges God hath done to ye. And he went his waye and preached thorow out all the cite what great thinges Iesus had done vnto him.
«Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi.» Il s'en alla, et publia par toute la ville tout ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui.
40 And it fortuned when Iesus was come agayne that ye people receaved him. For they all wayted for him.
A son retour, Jésus fut accueilli par la foule; car ils étaient tous à l'attendre.
41 And beholde ther came a man named Iairus (and he was a ruler of ye synagoge) and he fell doune at Iesus fete and besought him yt he wolde come into his housse
Alors il vint un homme nommé Jaïrus, chef de la synagogue, qui, se jetant aux pieds de Jésus, le supplia de venir dans sa maison,
42 for he had but a doughter only apon a twelve yere of age and she laye a dyinge. And as he went the people thronged him.
parce qu'il avait une fille unique, d'environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Pendant que Jésus s'y acheminait, la foule le serrait à l'étouffer.
43 And a woman havynge an issue of bloud twelve yeres (which had spent all her substance amonge phisicios nether coulde be holpen of eny)
Et une femme qui était atteinte d'une hémorragie depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu'aucun d'eux eût pu la guérir,
44 came behinde him and touched the hem of his garmet and immediatly her issue of bloud staunched.
s'approcha par derrière, toucha la houppe de son manteau, et au même instant son hémorragie s'arrêta.
45 And Iesus sayde: Who is it that touched me? when every man denyed Peter and they yt were with him sayde: Master the people thrust the and vexe the: and sayest thou who touched me?
Et Jésus dit: «Qui est-ce qui m'a touché?» Comme tous s'en défendaient, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui, dirent: «Maître, la foule t'entoure et te presse, et tu demandes qui t'a touché!»
46 And Iesus sayd: Some body touched me. For I perceave that vertue is gone out of me.
Mais Jésus répondit: «Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai senti une vertu sortir de moi.»
47 When the woman sawe that she was not hid she came trimblynge and fell at is fete and tolde him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediatly.
La femme voyant qu'elle n'était pas restée inaperçue, vint toute tremblante se jeter aux pieds de Jésus, et déclara devant tout le monde, pour quelle cause elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l'instant.
48 And he sayde vnto hyr: Doughter be of good comforte Thy faith hath made the hoale goo in peace.
Jésus lui dit: «Ma fille, ta foi t'a guérie: va en paix.»
49 Whyll he yet spake there came one from ye rulers of the synagogis housse which sayde to him: thy doughter is deed disease not the master.
Il parlait encore, lorsqu'on vint de chez Jaïrus dire à ce chef de la synagogue: «Ta fille est morte, ne fatigue pas le Maître.»
50 When Iesus hearde that He answered the father sayinge: Feare not beleve only and she shalbe made whole.
Mais Jésus, qui avait entendu cette parole, lui dit: «Ne crains point, crois seulement, et elle sera guérie.»
51 And when he came to ye housse he suffred no man to goo in with him save Peter Iames and Iohn and the father and the mother of the mayden.
Lorsqu'il fut arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa entrer personne avec lui, si ce n'est Pierre, Jean, Jacques, avec le père et la mère de l'enfant.
52 Every body weept and sorowed for her. And he sayde: Wepe not: for she is not deed but slepeth.
Comme tous pleuraient et se lamentaient, Jésus leur dit: «Ne pleurez pas; elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort.»
53 And they lewgh him to scorne. For they knew that she was deed.
Et ils se moquèrent de lui, sachant qu'elle était morte.
54 And he thrust the all out and caught her by the honde and cryed sayinge: Mayde aryse.
Mais lui, la saisissant par la main, dit en élevant la voix: «Enfant, lève-toi.»
55 And hyr sprete came agayne and she roose strayght waye. And he commaunded to geve her meate.
La respiration lui revint, et elle se leva à l'instant; et Jésus commanda qu'on lui donnât à manger.
56 And the father and the mother of hyr were astonyed. But he warned the that they shuld tell noo man what was done.
Les parents de la jeune fille furent dans le ravissement, et Jésus leur recommanda de ne dire à personne ce qui venait de se passer.
