Luke 8
1 And it fortuned after that that he him sylfe went throughout cities and tounes preachynge and shewinge ye kyngdom of God and the twelve with him.
Ensuite Jésus cheminait par les villes et par les villages, prêchant et annonçant la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu. Les Douze étaient avec lui,
2 And also certayne wemen which wer healed of evell spretes and infirmities: Mary called Magdalen out of whom went seven devyls
ainsi que quelques femmes qui avaient été guéries d'esprits malins et de maladies: Marie, dite de Magdala, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons;
3 and Ioanna ye wyfe of Chusa Herodees stewarde and Susanna and many other: which ministred vnto the of their substaunce.
Jeanne, femme de Chusa, intendant d'Hérode, Suzanne et plusieurs autres, qui l'assistaient de leurs biens.
4 When moch people were gadred to gether and were come to him out of all cities he spake by a similitude.
Une grande foule s'étant amassée, et des gens étant venus à lui de diverses villes, Jésus dit en parabole:
5 A sower went out to sowe his seede: and as he sowed some fell by the waye syde and it was troden vnder fete and the foules of the ayre devoured it vp.
" Le semeur sortit pour répandre sa semence; et pendant qu'il semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin, et elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
6 And some fell on ston and assone as it was spronge vp it widdred awaye because it lacked moystnes.
Une autre partie tomba sur la pierre, et, aussitôt levée, elle sécha, parce qu'elle n'avait pas d'humidité.
7 And some fell amonge thornes and ye thornes spronge vp with it and choked it.
Une autre partie tomba parmi les épines, et les épines croissant avec elle l'étouffèrent.
8 And some fell on good grounde and sproge vp and bare frute an hondred foolde. And as he sayde these thinges he cryed: He that hath eares to heare let him heare.
Une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, et ayant levé, elle donna du fruit au centuple. " Parlant ainsi, il disait à haute voix: " Que celui qui a des oreilles entende bien. "
9 And his disciples axed him sayinge: what maner similitude is this?
Ses disciples lui demandèrent ce que signifiait cette parabole:
10 And he sayde: vnto you is it geven to knowe the secretes of the kyngdom of God: but to other in similitudes that when they se they shuld not se: and when they heare they shuld not vnderstonde.
" A vous, leur dit-il, il a été donné de connaître le mystère du royaume de Dieu, tandis qu'aux autres, il est annoncé en paraboles, de sorte qu'en voyant ils ne voient point, et qu'en entendant ils ne comprennent point.
11 The similitude is this. The seede is ye worde of God.
Voici ce que signifie cette parabole: La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
12 Thoose yt are besyde the waye are they that heare and afterwarde cometh ye devyll and taketh awaye the worde out of their hertes lest they shuld beleve and be saved.
Ceux qui sont le long du chemin, ce sont ceux qui entendent la parole; mais ensuite le démon vient, et l'enlève de leur cœur, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
13 They on the stonnes are they which when they heare receave the worde with ioye. But these have noo rootes which for a whyle beleve and in tyme of temtacio goo awaye.
Ceux en qui on sème sur la pierre, ce sont ceux qui, entendant la parole, la reçoivent avec joie; mais ils n'ont point de racine: ils croient pour un temps, et ils succombent à l'heure de la tentation.
14 And yt which fell amonge thornes are they which heare and goo forth and are choked wt cares and wt riches and volupteous lyvinge and bringe forth noo frute.
Ce qui est tombé sur les épines, représente ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole, se laissent peu à peu étouffer par les soucis, les richesses et les plaisirs de la vie, et ils n'arrivent point à maturité.
15 That in ye good grounde are they which with a good and pure hert heare the worde and kepe it and bringe forth frute with pacience.
Enfin, ce qui est tombé dans la bonne terre, représente ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole avec un cœur bon et excellent, la gardent, et portent du fruit par la constance.
16 No man lyghteth a candell and covereth it vnder a vessell nether putteth it vnder ye table: but setteth it on a candelsticke that they that enter in maye se ye lyght.
Il n'est personne qui, après avoir allumé une lampe, la couvre d'un vase, ou la mette sous un lit; mais on la met sur un chandelier, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
17 No thinge is in secret yt shall not come abroode: Nether eny thinge hyd that shall not be knowen and come to lyght.
Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne se découvre, rien de secret qui ne finisse par être connu et ne vienne au grand jour.
18 Take hede therfore how ye heare. For whosoever hath to him shalbe geve: And whosoever hath not fro him shalbe take even that same which he supposeth that he hath.
Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez; car on donnera à celui qui a; et à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir. "
19 Then came to him his mother and his brethren and coulde not come at him for prease.
La mère et les frères de Jésus vinrent le trouver, mais ils ne purent pénétrer jusqu'à lui à cause de la foule.
20 And they tolde him sayinge: Thy mother and thy brethren stonde with out and wolde se the.
On vint lui dire: " Votre mère et vos frères sont là dehors, et ils désirent vous voir. "
21 He answered and sayd vnto them: my mother and my brethren are these which heare the worde of God and do it.
Il leur répondit: " Ma mère et mes frères sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la mettent en pratique. "
22 And it chaunsed on a certayne daye that he went into a shippe and his disciples also and he sayde vnto them: Let vs goo over vnto the other syde of the lake. And they Lanched forthe.
Un jour, il arriva que Jésus monta dans une barque avec ses disciples, et leur dit: " Passons de l'autre côté du lac. " Et ils se mirent en mer.
23 And as they sayled he fell a slepe and there arose a storme of wynde in ye lake and they were fylled with water and were in ieopardy.
Pendant qu'ils naviguaient, il s'endormit; et un tourbillon de vent s'étant abattu sur le lac, leur barque s'emplissait d'eau, et ils étaient en péril.
24 And they went to him and awoke him sayinge: Master Master we are loost. Then he arose and rebuked the wynde and the tempest of water and they ceased and it wexed calme.
S'approchant donc, ils le réveillèrent en disant: " Maître! Maître! nous périssons! " S'étant levé, il réprimanda le vent et les flots agités, et ils s'apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
25 And he sayd vnto the: where is youre faith? They feared and wondred sayinge one to another: what felowe is this? for he comaundeth bothe the wyndes and water and they obey him?
Puis il leur dit: " Où est votre foi? " Saisis de crainte et d'étonnement, ils se disaient les uns aux autres: " Quel est donc celui-ci, qui commande au vent et à la mer, et ils lui obéissent? "
26 And they sayled vnto the region of ye Gaderenites which is over agaynst Galile.
Ils abordèrent ensuite au pays des Géraséniens, qui est vis-à-vis de la Galilée.
27 And as he went out to londe ther met him a certayne man out of ye cite which had a devyll longe tyme and ware noo clothes nether aboode in eny housse: but amonge graves.
Lorsque Jésus fut descendu à terre, il vint au-devant de lui un homme de la ville, qui était depuis longtemps possédé des démons, il ne portait aucun vêtement et n'avait point d'autre habitation que les sépulcres.
28 When he sawe Iesus he cryed and fell doune before him and with a loude voyce sayde: What have I to do with the Iesus the sonne of the God moost hyest? I beseche the torment me not.
Aussitôt qu'il eut aperçu Jésus, il poussa des cris et vint se prosterner à ses pieds, disant à haute voix: " Qu'avez-vous à faire avec moi, Jésus, Fils de Dieu, Très-Haut? De grâce, ne me tourmentez point. "
29 Then he comaunded ye foule sprete to come out of the man. For ofte tymes he caught him and he was bounde with chaynes and kept with fetters: and he brake the bondes and was caryed of the fende into wyldernes.
En effet, Jésus commandait à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme. Bien des fois en effet l'esprit s'en était emparé, et quoiqu'on le gardât lié de chaînes et de fers aux pieds, il rompait ses liens, et le démon le chassait dans les lieux déserts.
30 And Iesus axed him sayinge: what is thy name? And he sayde: Legion because many devyls were entred into him.
Jésus lui demanda: " Quel est ton nom? " Il lui dit: " Je m'appelle Légion "; car beaucoup de démons étaient entrés en lui.
Et ces démons priaient Jésus de ne pas leur commander d'aller dans l'abîme. (Abyssos g12)
32 And ther was there by an heerde of many swyne fedynge on an hyll: and they besought him yt he wolde soffre the to enter into the. And he soffred the.
Or, il y avait là un nombreux troupeau de porcs qui paissaient sur la montagne; ils le prièrent de leur permettre d'y entrer, et il le leur permit.
33 Then went the devyls out of the man and entred into the swyne: And the heerd toke their course and ran heedlynge into the lake and were choked.
Sortant donc de cet homme ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux; et le troupeau, prenant sa course, se précipita par les pentes escarpées dans le lac, et s'y noya.
34 When the herdmen sawe what had chaunsed they fleed and tolde it in the cite and in the villages.
A cette vue, les gardiens s'enfuirent, et en portèrent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
35 And they came out to se what was done: and came to Iesus and founde ye man out of who the devyls were departed sittynge at the fete of Iesus clothed and in his right mynde and they were afrayde.
Les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé: ils vinrent à Jésus, et trouvèrent l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu et sain d'esprit; et ils furent remplis de frayeur.
36 They also wich sawe it tolde the by what meanes he yt was possessed of ye devyll was healed.
Ceux qui en avaient été témoins leur racontèrent aussi comment le démoniaque avait été délivré.
37 And all the whole multitude of ye cotrye of the Gaderenites besought him yt he wolde departe from the: for they were taken wt greate feare. And he gate him into the shippe and returned backe agayne.
Alors tous les habitants du pays des Géraséniens le prièrent de s'éloigner d'eux, parce qu'ils étaient saisis d'une grande crainte. Jésus monta donc dans la barque pour s'en retourner.
38 Then the man out of whom the devyls were departed besought him yt he myght be wt him: But Iesus sent him awaye sayinge:
Or, l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis le priait de l'admettre à sa suite; mais Jésus le renvoya en disant:
39 Goo home agayne into thyne awne housse and shewe what great thinges God hath done to ye. And he went his waye and preached thorow out all the cite what great thinges Iesus had done vnto him.
" Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi. " Et il s'en alla et publia par toute la ville, ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui.
40 And it fortuned when Iesus was come agayne that ye people receaved him. For they all wayted for him.
Jésus, à son retour, fut accueilli par le peuple, car tous l'attendaient.
41 And beholde ther came a man named Iairus (and he was a ruler of ye synagoge) and he fell doune at Iesus fete and besought him yt he wolde come into his housse
Et voilà qu'un homme appelé Jaïre, lequel était chef de la synagogue, vint se jeter aux pieds de Jésus, le priant d'entrer dans sa maison,
42 for he had but a doughter only apon a twelve yere of age and she laye a dyinge. And as he went the people thronged him.
parce qu'il avait une fille unique, d'environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Comme Jésus y allait, et qu'il était pressé par la foule,
43 And a woman havynge an issue of bloud twelve yeres (which had spent all her substance amonge phisicios nether coulde be holpen of eny)
une femme affligée d'un flux de sang depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu'aucun eût pu la guérir,
44 came behinde him and touched the hem of his garmet and immediatly her issue of bloud staunched.
s'approcha de lui par derrière et toucha la houppe de son manteau. A l'instant son flux de sang s'arrêta.
45 And Iesus sayde: Who is it that touched me? when every man denyed Peter and they yt were with him sayde: Master the people thrust the and vexe the: and sayest thou who touched me?
Et Jésus dit: " Qui m'a touché? " Tous s'en défendant, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui dirent: " Maître, la foule vous entoure et vous presse, et vous demandez: Qui m'a touché? "
46 And Iesus sayd: Some body touched me. For I perceave that vertue is gone out of me.
Mais Jésus dit: " Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai senti qu'une force était sortie de moi. "
47 When the woman sawe that she was not hid she came trimblynge and fell at is fete and tolde him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediatly.
Se voyant découverte, la femme vint toute tremblante se jeter à ses pieds, et raconta devant tout le peuple pourquoi elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l'instant.
48 And he sayde vnto hyr: Doughter be of good comforte Thy faith hath made the hoale goo in peace.
Et Jésus lui dit: " Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée; va en paix. "
49 Whyll he yet spake there came one from ye rulers of the synagogis housse which sayde to him: thy doughter is deed disease not the master.
Comme il parlait encore, quelqu'un de chez le chef de la synagogue vint lui dire: " Ta fille est morte, ne fatigue pas le Maître. "
50 When Iesus hearde that He answered the father sayinge: Feare not beleve only and she shalbe made whole.
Jésus ayant entendu cette parole, répondit au père: " Ne crains pas; crois seulement, et elle sera sauvée. "
51 And when he came to ye housse he suffred no man to goo in with him save Peter Iames and Iohn and the father and the mother of the mayden.
Arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa personne entrer avec lui, si ce n'est Pierre, Jacques et Jean, avec le père et la mère de l'enfant.
52 Every body weept and sorowed for her. And he sayde: Wepe not: for she is not deed but slepeth.
Or tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle, et Jésus dit: " Ne pleurez point; elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. "
53 And they lewgh him to scorne. For they knew that she was deed.
Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant bien qu'elle était morte.
54 And he thrust the all out and caught her by the honde and cryed sayinge: Mayde aryse.
Mais lui, la prenant par la main, dit à haute voix: " Enfant, lève-toi "
55 And hyr sprete came agayne and she roose strayght waye. And he commaunded to geve her meate.
Et son esprit revint en elle, et elle se leva à l'instant; et Jésus ordonna de lui donner à manger.
56 And the father and the mother of hyr were astonyed. But he warned the that they shuld tell noo man what was done.
Ses parents furent dans le ravissement, mais il leur recommanda de ne dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
