< Luke 15 >

1 Then resorted vnto him all ye publicas and synners for to heare him.
Then resorted vnto him all the Publicanes and sinners, to heare him.
2 And the pharises and scribes murmured sayinge: He receaved to his copany synners and eateth with them.
Therefore the Pharises and Scribes murmured, saying, Hee receiueth sinners, and eateth with them.
3 Then put he forthe this similitude to the sayinge:
Then spake hee this parable to them, saying,
4 What man of you havynge an hundred shepe yf he loose one of thee doth not leve nynty and nyne in the wyldernes and goo after yt which is loost vntyll he fynde him?
What man of you hauing an hundreth sheepe, if hee lose one of them, doeth not leaue ninetie and nine in the wildernesse, and goe after that which is lost, vntill he finde it?
5 And whe he hath founde him he putteth him on his shulders with ioye:
And when he hath found it, he laieth it on his shoulders with ioye.
6 And assone as he cometh home he calleth to gedder his lovers and neghbours sayinge vnto them: reioyse with me for I have founde my shepe which was loost.
And when he commeth home, he calleth together his friendes and neighbours, saying vnto them, Reioyce with mee: for I haue founde my sheepe which was lost.
7 I say vnto you yt lyke wyse ioye shalbe in heven over one synner yt repenteth moore then over nynety and nyne iuste persons whiche nede noo repentauce.
I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen for one sinner that conuerteth, more then for ninetie and nine iust men, which neede none amendment of life.
8 Ether what woman havynge. x. grotes yf she loose one doth not lyght a candell and swepe ye housse and seke diligently tyll she fynde it?
Either what woman hauing ten groates, if she lose one groate, doth not light a candle, and sweepe the house, and seeke diligently till shee finde it?
9 And when she hath founde it she calleth her lovers and her neghbours sayinge: Reioyce wt me for I have founde the groate which I had loost.
And when shee hath found it, shee calleth her friendes, and neighbours, saying, Reioyce with me: for I haue found the groate which I had lost.
10 Lykwyse I saye vnto you ioye is made in ye presence of ye angels of god over one synner yt repenteth.
Likewise I say vnto you, there is ioy in the presence of the Angels of God, for one sinner that conuerteth.
11 And he sayde: a certayne man had two sonnes
He sayde moreouer, A certaine man had two sonnes.
12 and the yonger of them sayde to his father: father geve me my parte of the goodes yt to me belongeth. And he devided vnto them his substaunce.
And the yonger of them sayde to his father, Father, giue mee the portion of the goods that falleth to mee. So he deuided vnto them his substance.
13 And not longe after ye yonger sonne gaddered all that he had to gedder and toke his iorney into a farre countre and theare he wasted his goodes with royetous lyvinge.
So not many daies after, when the yonger sonne had gathered all together, hee tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there hee wasted his goods with riotous liuing.
14 And when he had spent all that he had ther rose a greate derth thorow out all yt same londe and he began to lacke.
Nowe when hee had spent all, there arose a great dearth throughout that land, and he began to be in necessitie.
15 And he went and clave to a citesyn of yt same countre which sent him to his felde to kepe his swyne.
Then hee went and claue to a citizen of that conntrey, and hee sent him to his farme, to feede swine.
16 And he wold fayne have filled his bely with the coddes that ye swyne ate: and noo man gave him.
And hee would faine haue filled his bellie with the huskes, that the swine ate: but no man gaue them him.
17 Then he came to him selfe and sayde: how many hyred servauntes at my fathers have breed ynough and I dye for honger.
Then he came to him selfe, and said, Howe many hired seruaunts at my fathers haue bread ynough, and I die for hunger?
18 I will aryse and goo to my father and will saye vnto him: father I have synned agaynst heven and before ye
I wil rise and goe to my father, and say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heaue, and before thee,
19 and am no moare worthy to be called thy sonne make me as one of thy hyred servauntes.
And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants.
20 And he arose and went to his father. And when he was yet a greate waye of his father sawe him and had compassion and ran and fell on his necke and kyssed him.
So hee arose and came to his father, and when hee was yet a great way off, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ranne and fell on his necke, and kissed him.
21 And the sonne sayd vnto him: father I have synned agaynst heven and in thy sight and am no moare worthy to be called thy sonne.
And the sonne sayde vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and before thee, and am no more worthie to be called thy sonne.
22 But his father sayde to his servautes: bringe forth that best garment and put it on him and put a rynge on his honde and showes on his fete.
Then the father said to his seruaunts, Bring foorth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feete,
23 And bringe hidder that fatted caulfe and kyll him and let vs eate and be mery:
And bring the fat calfe, and kill him, and let vs eate, and be merie:
24 for this my sonne was deed and is alyve agayne he was loste and is now founde. And they began to be merye.
For this my sonne was dead, and is aliue againe: and he was lost, but he is found. And they began to be merie.
25 The elder brother was in the felde and when he cam and drewe nye to ye housse he herde minstrelcy and daunsynge
Nowe the elder brother was in the fielde, and when he came and drewe neere to the house, he heard melodie, and dauncing,
26 and called one of his servauntes and axed what thoose thinges meate.
And called one of his seruaunts, and asked what those things meant.
27 And he sayd vnto him: thy brother is come and thy father had kylled ye fatted caulfe because he hath receaved him safe and sounde.
And hee sayde vnto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatte calfe, because he hath receiued him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry and wolde not goo in. Then came his father out and entreated him.
Then he was angry, and would not goe in: therefore came his father out and entreated him.
29 He answered and sayde to his father: Loo these many yeares have I done the service nether brake at eny tyme thy commaundment and yet gavest thou me never soo moche as a kyd to make mery wt my lovers:
But he answered and said to his father, Loe, these many yeeres haue I done thee seruice, neither brake I at any time thy commadement, and yet thou neuer gauest mee a kidde that I might make merie with my friends.
30 but assone as this thy sonne was come which hath devoured thy goodes with harlootes thou haste for his pleasure kylled ye fatted caulfe.
But when this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy good with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calfe.
31 And he sayd vnto him: Sonne thou wast ever with me and all that I have is thyne:
And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine.
32 it was mete that we shuld make mery and be glad: for this thy brother was deed and is a lyve agayne: and was loste and is founde.
It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.
