Matthew 24
1 Leaving the Temple Courts, Jesus was walking away, when his disciples came up to draw his attention to the Temple buildings.
Cuando Jesús salió del Templo sus discípulos se acercaron para mostrarle los edificios del Templo.
2 “Do you see all these things?” was his answer. “I tell you, not a single stone will be left here upon another, which will not be thrown down,”
Les preguntó: ¿Ven todas estas cosas? En verdad les digo: Que de ningún modo quede aquí piedra sobre piedra que no sea totalmente derribada.
3 so, while Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came up to him privately and said: “Tell us when this will be, and what will be the sign of your Coming, and of the close of the age.” (aiōn g165)
Cuando estaba sentado en la Montaña de Los Olivos, los discípulos se [le] acercaron en privado y [le] preguntaron: Dinos, ¿cuándo será esto? ¿Cuál es la señal de tu venida y del fin de la era? (aiōn g165)
4 Jesus replied to them as follows: “See that no one leads you astray;
Jesús respondió: Cuídense que nadie los engañe.
5 for, many will take my name, and come saying ‘I am the Christ,’ and will lead many astray.
Porque vendrán muchos en mi Nombre y dirán: Yo soy el Cristo, y a muchos engañarán.
6 And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars; take care not to be alarmed, for such things must occur; but the end is not yet here.
Ustedes oirán de guerras y rumores de guerras. Atención, no se alarmen, porque esto debe suceder. Pero aún no es el fin.
7 For ‘nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom,’ and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
Porque se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino, y habrá hambrunas y terremotos en diferentes lugares.
8 All this, however, will be but the beginning of the birth pangs!
Pero todas estas cosas serán principio de dolores de parto.
9 When that time comes, they will give you up to persecution, and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations on account of my Name.
Entonces los entregarán a tribulación y los matarán. Serán aborrecidos por todas las gentes a causa de mi Nombre.
10 And then many will fall away, and will betray one another, and hate one another.
Entonces muchos tropezarán. Se entregarán unos a otros y se aborrecerán.
11 Many false Prophets, also, will appear and lead many astray;
Muchos falsos profetas se levantarán y engañarán a muchos.
12 and, owing to the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
Y por haberse multiplicado la maldad, el amor de muchos se enfriará.
13 Yet the man that endures to the end shall be saved.
Pero el que persevere hasta el fin será salvo.
14 And this Good News of the Kingdom shall be proclaimed throughout the world as a witness to all nations; and then will come the end.
Estas Buenas Noticias del reino serán proclamadas en toda la tierra para testimonio a todas las naciones. Entonces vendrá el fin.
15 As soon, then, as you see ‘the Foul Desecration,’ mentioned by the Prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place,” (the reader must consider what this means)
Por tanto, cuando ustedes vean la repugnancia de la desolación anunciada por el profeta Daniel puesta en el Lugar Santo (el que lee, entienda),
16 “then those of you who are in Judea must take refuge in the mountains;
entonces, los que estén en Judea huyan a las montañas.
17 and a man on the housetop must not go down to get the things that are in his house;
El que esté en la azotea, no baje a tomar [las cosas] de su casa,
18 nor must one who is on his farm turn back to get his cloak.
y el que esté en el campo, no regrese a tomar su ropa.
19 And alas for the women that are with child, and for those that are nursing infants in those days!
Pero, ¡ay de las que estén embarazadas y de las que amamanten en aquellos días!
20 Pray, too, that your flight may not take place in winter, nor on a Sabbath;
Por tanto hablen con Dios para que su huida no sea en invierno, ni en sábado.
21 for that will be ‘a time of great distress, the like of which has not occurred from the beginning of the world down to the present time’ — no, nor ever will again.
Porque habrá entonces una gran tribulación, como no hubo desde [el] comienzo del mundo hasta ahora, ni habrá jamás.
22 And had not those days been limited, not a single soul would escape; but for the sake of ‘God’s People’ a limit will be put to them.
Si aquellos días no fueran acortados, ninguna persona sería salva. Pero aquellos días serán acortados por causa de los escogidos.
23 And, at that time, if any one should say to you ‘Look! here is the Christ!’ or ‘Here he is!’, do not believe it;
Entonces, si alguno les dice: ¡Miren al Cristo! O: ¡Aquí! No crean.
24 for false Christs and false Prophets will arise, and will display great signs and marvels, so that, were it possible, even God’s People would be led astray.
Porque se levantarán falsos cristos y falsos profetas. Harán grandes señales y prodigios, si fuera posible hasta engañar aun a los escogidos.
25 Remember, I have told you beforehand.
Recuerden que se lo predije.
26 Therefore, if people say to you ‘He is in the Wilderness!’, do not go out there; or ‘He is in an inner room!’, do not believe it;
Si les dicen: ¡Mira, está en el desierto! No salgan. ¡Mira, está en las recámaras! No crean.
27 for, just as lightning will start from the east and flash across to the west, so will it be with the Coming of the Son of Man.
Porque como el relámpago sale del oriente y fulgura hasta el occidente, así será la venida del Hijo del Hombre.
28 Wherever a dead body lies, there will the vultures flock.’
Donde esté el cadáver se reunirán los buitres.
29 Immediately after the distress of those days, ‘the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, the stars will fall from the heavens,’ and ‘the forces of the heavens will be convulsed.’
Inmediatamente después de la tribulación de aquellos días, El sol se oscurecerá y la luna no dará su resplandor. Las estrellas se caerán del cielo y las potencias celestiales serán conmovidas.
30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in the heavens; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn, when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the heavens,’ with power and great glory;
Entonces se mostrará la señal del Hijo del Hombre en el cielo. Todas las naciones de la tierra se lamentarán y verán al Hijo del Hombre que viene sobre las nubes del cielo con poder y gran gloria.
31 and he will send his angels, with a great trumpet, and they will gather his People round him from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Enviará a sus ángeles con sonido de gran trompeta, y reunirán a sus escogidos de los cuatro puntos cardinales, desde un extremo al otro extremo de los cielos.
32 Learn the lesson taught by the fig tree. As soon as its branches are full of sap, and it is bursting into leaf, you know that summer is near.
Así que aprendan la parábola de la higuera: Cuando su rama esté tierna y broten las hojas, saben ustedes que el verano está cerca.
33 And so may you, as soon as you see all these things, know that he is at your doors.
Así también ustedes, cuando vean todas estas cosas, sepan que está cerca, a las puertas.
34 I tell you, even the present generation will not pass away, till all these things have taken place.
En verdad les digo: Que de ningún modo pase este linaje hasta que sucedan todas estas cosas.
35 The heavens and the earth will pass away, but my words shall never pass away.
El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero que no pasen mis Palabras.
36 But about that Day and Hour, no one knows — not even the angels of Heaven, nor yet the Son — but only the Father himself.
Sin embargo, nadie sabe en cuanto a aquél día y hora, ni los ángeles de los cielos, ni el Hijo. Solo el Padre.
37 For, just as in the days of Noah, so will it be at the Coming of the Son of Man.
Pero como en los días de Noé, así será la venida del Hijo del Hombre.
38 In those days before the flood they went on eating and drinking, marrying and being married, up to the very day on which Noah entered the ark,
Porque como en aquellos días antes del diluvio comían y bebían, se casaban y se daban en casamiento hasta el día cuando Noé entró en el arca,
39 taking not notice till the flood came and swept them one and all away; and so will it be at the Coming of the Son of Man.
y no entendieron hasta cuando el diluvio llegó y se los llevó a todos, así será la venida del Hijo del Hombre.
40 At that time, of two men on a farm one will be taken and one left;
Entonces estarán dos en el campo: Uno será tomado y el otro será dejado.
41 of two women grinding with the hand-mill one will be taken and one left.
Estarán dos mujeres moliendo en el molino. Una será tomada y la otra será dejada.
42 Therefore watch; for you cannot be sure on what day your Master is coming.
Velen, porque no saben cuál día viene su Señor.
43 But this you do know, that, had the owner of the house known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have been on the watch, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
Pero sepan esto: Si el dueño de la casa supiera a qué hora de la noche viene el ladrón, velaría y no permitiría que su casa fuera invadida.
44 Therefore, do you also prepare, since it is just when you are least expecting him that the Son of Man will come.
Por esto, ustedes también estén preparados, porque el Hijo del Hombre vendrá a la hora cuando no lo piensen.
45 Who, then is that trustworthy, careful servant, who has been placed by his master over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?
¿Quién es, pues, el esclavo fiel y prudente, a quien el señor puso para dar la comida a tiempo a su servidumbre?
46 Happy will that servant be whom his master, when he comes home, shall find doing this.
¡Inmensamente feliz aquel esclavo a quien, cuando llegue su señor, lo encuentre que hace así!
47 I tell you that his master will put him in charge of the whole of his property.
En verdad les digo que lo pondrá sobre todos sus bienes.
48 But, should he be a bad servant, and say to himself ‘My master is a long time in coming,’
Pero si aquel esclavo malo dice en su corazón: Mi señor tarda,
49 and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and eat and drink with drunkards,
y comienza a golpear a sus consiervos, a comer y a beber con los que se emborrachan,
50 that servant’s master will come on a day when he does not expect him, and at an hour of which he is unaware,
el señor vendrá el día y a la hora cuando el esclavo no [lo] espera,
51 and will flog him severely, and assign him his place among the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
lo castigará severamente, y le asignará su lugar con los hipócritas. Allí será el llanto y el crujido de los dientes.
