Luke 11
1 One day Jesus was at a certain place praying, and, when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him: “Master, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”
Einstmals verweilte er an einem Ort beim Beten. Als er geendet hatte, bat ihn einer seiner Jünger: "Herr, lehre uns beten, gleichwie Johannes seine Jünger es gelehrt hat."
2 “When you pray,” Jesus answered, “say — ‘Father, May thy name be held holy, thy Kingdom come.
Er sprach zu ihnen: "Wenn ihr betet, sprecht also: 'Vater, geheiligt werde dein Name. Es komme dein Reich.
3 Give us each day the bread that we shall need;
Gib uns täglich unser nötig Brot.
4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who wrongs us; and take us not into temptation.’”
Und vergib uns unsere Sünden; denn auch wir vergeben jedem, der unser Schuldner ist, und führe uns nicht in Versuchung'."
5 Jesus also said to them: “Suppose that one of you who has a friend were to go to him in the middle of the night and say ‘Friend, lend me three loaves,
Dann fuhr er fort: "Einer aus euch hat einen Freund, und dieser kommt mitten in der Nacht zu ihm und bittet ihn: 'Freund, leihe mir drei Brote;
6 for a friend of mine has arrived at my house after a journey, and I have nothing to offer him;’
Ein Freund von mir ist auf der Reise bei mir eingekehrt, und ich habe nichts, was ich ihm vorsetzen könnte.'
7 And suppose that the other should answer from inside ‘Do not trouble me; the door is already fastened, and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything’;
Doch jener gibt von drinnen zur Antwort: 'Laß mich in Ruh! Die Tür ist schon geschlossen, und meine Kinder sind mit mir im Bett; ich kann nicht aufstehen und dir etwas geben.'
8 I tell you that, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is a friend, yet because of his persistence he will rouse himself and give him what he wants.
Und wenn er fortmacht mit Klopfen Ich sage euch: Wenn er nicht aufsteht und ihm etwas gibt, weil es sein Freund ist, so wird er sich seines Drängens wegen erheben und ihm geben, was er braucht.
9 And so I say to you — Ask, and your prayer shall be granted: search, and you shall find; knock, and the door shall be opened to you.
So sage auch ich euch: Bittet, und es wird euch gegeben werden, suchet, und ihr werdet finden, klopfet an, und es wird euch aufgetan werden.
10 For he that asks receives, he that searches finds, and to him that knocks the door shall be opened.
Denn wer bittet, empfängt, wer sucht, findet, wer anklopft, dem wird aufgetan.
11 What father among you, if his son asks him for a fish, will give him a snake instead,
Wo unter euch gibt es einen Vater, der seinem Kinde, das ihn um Brot anfleht, einen Stein geben würde? Oder wenn es ihn um einen Fisch bittet, ihm dann statt des Fisches eine Schlange reichen würde?
12 or, if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
Oder wenn es ihn um ein Ei bittet, ihm einen Skorpion gäbe?
13 If you, then, naturally wicked though you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those that ask him!”
Wenn ihr nun, die ihr böse seid, doch euren Kindern gute Gaben zu geben wisset, um wieviel mehr wird der Vater im Himmel den Heiligen Geist denen geben, die ihn darum bitten."
14 Once Jesus was driving out a dumb demon, and, when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke. The people were amazed at this;
Einst trieb er einen Dämon aus, der stumm war. Und als der Dämon ausgefahren war, da redete der Stumme, die Scharen aber staunten.
15 but some of them said: “He drives out demons by the help of Baal-zebub, the chief of the demons”;
Doch einige aus ihnen sagten: "Durch Beelzebul, den obersten der Dämonen, treibt er die Dämonen aus."
16 while others, to test him, asked him for some sign from the heavens.
Andere versuchten ihn und forderten von ihm ein Zeichen vom Himmel.
17 Jesus himself, however, was aware of what they were thinking, and said to them: “Any kingdom wholly divided against itself becomes a desolation; and a divided house falls.
Er aber wußte, was sie dachten, und sprach zu ihnen: "Jedes Reich, das in sich uneins ist, zerfällt; ein Haus stürzt über das andere.
18 So, too, if Satan is wholly divided against himself, how can his kingdom last? Yet you say that I drive out demons by the help of Baal-zebub.
Ist nun auch der Satan uneins mit sich selbst, wie sollte dann sein Reich bestehen? Ihr sagt, ich treibe durch Beelzebul die Dämonen aus.
19 But, if it is by Baal-zebub’s help that I drive out demons, by whose help is it that your own sons drive them out? Therefore they shall themselves be your judges.
Wenn ich durch Beelzebul die Dämonen austreibe, durch wen treiben dann eure Söhne sie aus? So werden diese eure Richter sein.
20 But, if it is by the hand of God that I drive out demons, then the Kingdom of God must already be upon you.
Wenn ich jedoch die Dämonen durch den Finger Gottes austreibe, dann ist das Reich Gottes ja schon zu euch gekommen.
21 When a strong man is keeping guard, fully armed, over his own mansion, his property is in safety;
Und wenn ein Starker wohlbewaffnet seinen Hof bewacht, dann ist sein Eigentum in Sicherheit.
22 but, when one still stronger has attacked and overpowered him, he takes away all the weapons on which the other had relied, and divides his spoil.
Doch kommt ein Stärkerer als er darüber und überwältigt ihn, so nimmt er ihm die Waffenrüstung ab, auf die er sich verlassen hatte, und verteilt, was er bei ihm erbeutet hat.
23 He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not help me to gather is scattering.
Wer nicht mit mir ist, ist gegen mich, und wer nicht mit mir sammelt, zerstreut.
24 No sooner does a foul spirit leave a man, than it passes through places where there is no water, in search of rest; and finding none, it says ‘I will go back to the home which I left’;
Wenn der unreine Geist aus dem Menschen ausgefahren ist, wandert er durch öde Gegenden und sucht eine Ruhestätte. Doch weil er keine findet, sagt er: 'Ich will in mein Haus zurück, aus dem ich ausgezogen bin.'
25 but, on coming there, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order.
Er kommt und findet es rein gefegt und ausgeschmückt.
26 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in, and make their home there; and the last state of that man proves to be worse than the first.”
Dann geht er hin, nimmt noch sieben andere Geister mit, die schlimmer sind als er; sie ziehen ein und wohnen dort. Mit einem solchen Menschen wird es nachher schlimmer stehen als vorher."
27 As Jesus was saying this, a woman in the crowd, raising her voice, exclaimed: “Happy was the mother who bore you and nursed you!”
Während er noch so redete, erhob ein Weib im Volke seine Stimme; es sprach zu ihm: "Selig der Leib, der dich getragen hat, und die Brüste, die dich genährt haben."
28 But Jesus replied: “Rather, happy are those who listen to God’s Message and keep it.”
Doch er erwiderte: "Jawohl, selig, die Gottes Wort hören und es befolgen."
29 As the crowds increased, Jesus began to speak: “This generation is a wicked generation. It is asking a sign, but no sign shall be given it except the sign of Jonah.
Als sich die Scharen an ihn drängten, sprach er: "Dieses Geschlecht ist ein böses Geschlecht. Es fordert ein Zeichen; jedoch, es wird ihm kein anderes Zeichen gegeben werden als das Zeichen des Jonas.
30 For, as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so shall the Son of Man be to this generation.
Wie Jonas den Niniviten zum Zeichen ward, so wird es der Menschensohn für dieses Geschlecht sein.
31 At the Judgment the Queen of the South will rise up with the men of this generation, and will condemn them, because she came from the very ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon; and here is more than a Solomon!
Die Königin des Südens wird beim Gericht zugleich mit den Männern dieses Geschlechtes sich erheben und wird sie verdammen. Sie kam ja von den Enden der Erde, um die Weisheit Salomons zu hören, und siehe, hier ist mehr als Salomon.
32 At the Judgment the men of Nineveh will stand up with this generation, and will condemn it, because they repented at Jonah’s proclamation; and here is more than a Jonah!
Die Niniviten werden sich beim Gericht mit diesem Geschlecht erheben und es verdammen. Denn diese haben sich bekehrt, als Jonas ihnen predigte, und siehe, hier ist mehr als Jonas.
33 No one sets light to a lamp, and then puts it in the cellar or under the corn-measure, but he puts it on the lamp-stand, so that any one who comes in may see the light.
Niemand, der ein Licht anzündet, stellt es in einen Winkel oder unter einen Scheffel, vielmehr auf einen Leuchter, daß man den hellen Schein beim Eintreten gleich sehe.
34 The lamp of the body is your eye. When your eye is unclouded, your whole body, also, is lit up; but, as soon as your eye is diseased, your body, also, is darkened.
Die Leuchte des Leibes ist dein Auge. Ist dein Auge gesund, so ist dein ganzer Leib erleuchtet; ist es aber krank, so ist auch dein Leib verfinstert.
35 Take care, therefore, that the inner Light is not darkness.
Sieh also zu, ob nicht das Licht in dir verfinstert sei.
36 If, then, your whole body is lit up, and no corner of it darkened, the whole will be lit up, just as when a lamp gives you light by its brilliance.”
Doch wenn dein ganzer Leib erleuchtet ist und gar nichts Finsteres an sich hat, so ist er durch und durch erleuchtet, wie das Licht mit seinem Strahle dich erleuchtet."
37 As Jesus finished speaking, a Pharisee asked him to breakfast with him, and Jesus went in and took his place at table.
Während er noch redete, lud einer von den Pharisäern ihn zum Essen ein. Er ging hin und setzte sich zu Tisch.
38 The Pharisee noticed, to his astonishment, that Jesus omitted the ceremonial washing before breakfast.
Wie nun der Pharisäer sah, daß er sich vor der Mahlzeit nicht gewaschen hatte, verwunderte er sich sehr.
39 But the Master said to him: “You Pharisees do, it is true, clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but inside you yourselves are filled with greed and wickedness.
Da sprach der Herr zu ihm: "Ihr Pharisäer reinigt das Äußere von Bechern und Schüsseln, doch euer Inneres strotzt von Raubgier und Schlechtigkeit.
40 Fools! did not the maker of the outside make the inside too?
Ihr Toren! Hat er, der das Äußere gemacht hat, nicht auch das Innere gemacht?
41 Only give away what is in them in charity, and at once you have the whole clean.
Gebt lieber das, was drinnen ist, als Almosen, und siehe, alles ist euch rein.
42 But alas for you Pharisees! You pay tithes on mint, rue, and herbs of all kinds, and pass over justice and love to God. These last you ought to have put into practice without neglecting the first.
Doch wehe euch, ihr Pharisäer! Ihr verzehntet zwar Minze, Raute und ein jedes Gartenkraut, doch um Gerechtigkeit und Gottesliebe kümmert ihr euch nicht. Das eine soll man tun, das andere jedoch nicht unterlassen.
43 Alas for you Pharisees! You delight to have the front seat in the Synagogues, and to be greeted in the markets with respect.
Wehe euch, ihr Pharisäer! Ihr liebt den Ehrenplatz in den Synagogen sowie den Gruß auf den öffentlichen Plätzen.
44 Alas for you! You are like unsuspected graves, over which men walk unawares.”
Wehe euch! Ihr gleicht unkenntlich gewordenen Gräbern; man geht darüber hin und weiß es nicht."
45 Here one of the Students of the Law interrupted him by saying: “Teacher, when you say this, you are insulting us also.”
Da sagte zu ihm ein Gesetzeslehrer: "Mit diesen Worten, Meister, schmähst du auch uns."
46 But Jesus went on: “Alas for you, too, you Students of the Law! You load men with loads that are too heavy to carry, but do not, yourselves, touch them with one of your fingers.
Doch er erwiderte: "Wehe auch euch, ihr Gesetzeslehrer! Ihr bürdet den Menschen unerträglich schwere Lasten auf, doch selber rührt ihr mit keinem Finger diese Lasten an.
47 Alas for you! You build the monuments of the Prophets whom your ancestors killed.
Wehe euch, ihr baut den Propheten Grabdenkmäler, doch eure Väter haben sie gemordet.
48 You are actually witnesses to your ancestors’ acts and show your approval of them, because, while they killed the Prophets, you build tombs for them.
Also bezeugt und billigt ihr die Taten eurer Väter; jene haben sie gemordet, ihr aber baut die Grabdenkmäler.
49 That is why the Wisdom of God said — “I will send to them Prophets and Apostles,
Deshalb hat die Weisheit Gottes auch gesprochen: Ich will ihnen Propheten und Apostel senden, und einige aus ihnen werden sie ermorden und verfolgen.
50 some of whom they will persecute and kill, in order that the ‘blood’ of all the prophets ‘that has been spilt’ since the creation of the world may be exacted from this generation —
So soll von diesem Geschlecht all das Prophetenblut gefordert werden, das seit Erschaffung der Welt vergossen ward,
51 From the blood of Abel down to the blood of Zechariah, who was slain between the altar and the House of God.” Yes, I tell you, it will be exacted from this generation.
vom Blute Abels an bis auf das Blut des Zacharias, der zwischen dem Altar und dem Tempelhaus seinen Tod gefunden hat. Ja, ich sage euch: Es wird von diesem Geschlechte gefordert werden.
52 Alas for you Students of the Law! You have taken away the key of the door of Knowledge. You have not gone in yourselves and you have hindered those who try to go in.”
Wehe euch, ihr Gesetzeslehrer: Ihr habt den Schlüssel zur Erkenntnis weggenommen; ihr selber seid nicht eingetreten und habt noch jene ferngehalten, die eintreten wollten."
53 When Jesus left the house, the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees began to press him hard and question him closely upon many subjects,
Und er ging weg von da. Die Pharisäer und die Schriftgelehrten setzten ihm sehr auffällig zu und überhäuften ihn mit Fragen über vielerlei.
54 laying traps for him, so as to seize upon anything that he might say.
Sie lauerten ihm dabei auf, um eine Äußerung aus seinem Munde aufzufangen und ihn anklagen zu können.
