Hebrews 5

1 Every High Priest, taken from among men, is appointed as a representative of his fellow-men in their relations with God, to offer both gifts and sacrifices in expiation of sins.

Denn ein jeglicher Hohepriester, aus den Menschen genommen, wird aufgestellt für Menschen, in ihren Angelegenheiten bei Gott Gaben und Opfer für Sünden darzubringen,

2 And he is able to sympathise with the ignorant and deluded, since he is himself subject to weakness,

Und kann milde sein gegen Unwissende und Irrende, weil auch er der Schwachheit teilhaftig ist;

3 and is therefore bound to offer sacrifices for sins, not only for the People, but equally so for himself.

Und muß um dieser willen, wie für das Volk, so auch für sich selbst Sündopfer darbringen.

4 Nor does any one take that high office upon himself, till he has been called to do so by God, as Aaron was.

Und niemand nimmt sich selbst die Ehre, sondern muß wie Aharon von Gott dazu berufen sein.

5 In the same way, even the Christ did not take the honour of the High Priesthood upon himself, but he was appointed by him who said to him — ‘Thou art my Son; this day I have become thy Father’;

Also hat auch Christus nicht Sich Selbst in die Ehre eingesetzt, Hoherpriester zu werden, sondern Der zu Ihm gesprochen hat: Mein Sohn bist Du, heute habe Ich Dich gezeugt.

6 and on another occasion also — ‘Thou art a priest for all time of the order of Melchizedek.’ (aiōn g165)

Wie Er auch an einer anderen Stelle sagt: Du bist Priester in Ewigkeit, nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks. (aiōn g165)

7 Jesus, in the days of his earthly life, offered prayers and supplications, with earnest cries and with tears, to him who was able to save him from death; and he was heard because of his devout submission.

Und Er hat in den Tagen Seines Fleisches Gebet und Flehen an Den, Der Ihn vom Tode retten konnte, mit lautem Rufe und mit Tränen dargebracht und ist erhört worden wegen Seiner Frömmigkeit.

8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from his sufferings;

Und wiewohl Er Gottes Sohn war, hat Er doch an dem, was Er litt, Gehorsam gelernt.

9 and, being made perfect, he became to all those who obey him the source of eternal Salvation, (aiōnios g166)

Und da Er ist vollendet, ist Er allen, die Ihm gehorsam sind, Urheber ewiger Seligkeit geworden, (aiōnios g166)

10 while God himself pronounced him a High Priest of the order of Melchizedek.

Erklärt von Gott zum Hohenpriester nach der Ordnung Melchisedeks.

11 Now on this subject I have much to say, but it is difficult to explain it to you, because you have shown yourselves so slow to learn.

Davon hätten wir wohl viel zu reden, aber es ist schwer auszulegen, weil ihr wieder so träge zum Verständnis geworden seid.

12 For whereas, considering the time that has elapsed, you ought to be teaching others, you still need some one to teach you the very alphabet of the Divine Revelation, and need again to be fed with ‘milk’ instead of with ‘solid food.’

Denn da ihr längst solltet Meister sein der Zeit nach, bedürft ihr selber wieder Belehrung über die Anfangsgründe der Lehre Gottes, und seid solche geworden, daß ihr Milch und nicht feste Speise bedürfet.

13 For every one who still has to take ‘milk’ knows nothing of the Teaching of Righteousness; he is a mere infant.

Denn wer noch Milch haben muß, der ist noch unerfahren im Worte der Gerechtigkeit, denn er ist noch unmündig.

14 But ‘solid food’ is for Christians of mature faith — those whose faculties have been trained by practice to distinguish right from wrong.

Feste Speise gehört den Vollkommenen, die durch Übung eine schärfere Fassungskraft haben zur Unterscheidung von dem, was recht und unrecht ist.
