2 Timothy 4
1 I solemnly charge you, in the sight of God and of Christ Jesus, who will one day judge the living and the dead — I charge you by his Appearing and by his Kingdom: —
Ich beschwöre dich nun vor Gott und Jesus Christus, Der da richten wird die Lebendigen und die Toten bei Seiner Erscheinung und in Seinem Reiche:
2 Proclaim the Message, be ready in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, encourage, never failing to instruct with forbearance.
Predige das Wort, halte damit an zur gelegenen oder ungelegenen Zeit, rüge, warne, ermahne mit aller Langmut und Lehre.
3 For a time will come when people will not tolerate sound teaching. They will follow their own wishes, and, in their itching for novelty, procure themselves a crowd of teachers.
Denn es wird eine Zeit kommen, wo sie die gesunde Lehre nicht ertragen, sondern nach eigenen Gelüsten sich mit Lehrern umgeben werden, die ihre Ohren kitzeln,
4 They will turn a deaf ear to the Truth, and give their attention to legends instead.
Und werden die Ohren von der Wahrheit abwenden und sich Märchen zuwenden.
5 But you, Timothy, must always be temperate. Face hardships; do the work of a Missionary; discharge all the duties of your Office.
Du aber bleibe nüchtern in allem, ertrage Beschwerde, verrichte das Werk eines Evangelisten und tue, was deines Amtes ist.
6 As for me, my life blood is already being poured out; the time of my departure is close at hand.
Denn schon werde ich geopfert und die Stunde meines Hinscheidens naht.
7 I have run the great Race; I have finished the Course; I have kept the Faith.
Ich habe einen guten Kampf gekämpft, ich habe den Lauf vollendet, ich habe den Glauben bewahrt.
8 And now the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just Judge, will give me on ‘That Day’ — and not only to me, but to all who have loved his Appearing.
Schon liegt für mich bereit die Krone der Gerechtigkeit, die mir an jenem Tage der Herr, Der gerechte Richter, geben wird, aber nicht allein mir, sondern allen, die Seine Erscheinung lieb haben.
9 Do your utmost to come to me soon;
Beeile dich, daß du bald zu mir kommst.
10 for Demas, in his love for the world, has deserted me. He has gone to Thessalonica, Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. (aiōn g165)
Denn Demas hat mich verlassen und diese Welt lieb gewonnen, und ist gezogen nach Thessalonich, Crescens nach Galatien, Titus nach Dalmatien. (aiōn g165)
11 There is no one but Luke with me. Pick up Mark on your way, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me in my work.
Lukas ist allein bei mir, Markus nimm zu dir, und bringe ihn mit dir, er ist mir nützlich zum Dienst.
12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
Tychikus habe ich nach Ephesus gesandt.
13 Bring with you, when you come, the cloak which I left at Troas with Carpus, and the books, especially the parchments.
Den Mantel, den ich bei Karpus in Troas gelassen, bringe mit, wenn du kommst, auch die Bücher, sonderlich aber die Pergamentrollen.
14 Alexander, the coppersmith, showed much ill-feeling towards me. ‘The Lord will give him what his actions deserve.’
Alexander, der Schmied, hat mir viel Böses erwiesen; der Herr vergelte ihm nach seinen Werken!
15 Do you also, be on your guard against him, for he is strongly opposed to our teaching.
Auch du hüte dich vor ihm; denn er ist unseren Worten sehr entgegengetreten.
16 At my first trial no one stood by me. They all deserted me. May it never be counted against them!
In meiner ersten Verantwortung stand mir niemand zur Seite; alle verließen mich möge es ihnen nicht angerechnet werden!
17 But the Lord came to my help and strengthened me, in order that, through me, the proclamation should be made so widely that all the Gentiles should hear it; and I was rescued ‘out of the Lion’s mouth.’
Der Herr aber stand mir bei und schenkte mir Kraft, auf daß durch mich die Predigt bestätigt würde und alle Heiden sie hörten, und ich bin aus des Löwen Rachen erlöst.
18 The Lord will rescue me from all evil, and bring me safe into his Heavenly Kingdom. All glory to him for ever and ever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
Und der Herr wird mich erlösen von allem Übel und mich retten in Sein Himmelreich. Ihm sei Ehre von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! Amen. (aiōn g165)
19 Give my greeting to Prisca and Aquila, and to the household of Onesiphorus.
Grüße Prisca und Aquila und das Haus des Onesiphorus.
20 Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left Thophimus ill at Miletus.
Erastus blieb in Korinth, den Trophimus ließ ich krank in Milet zurück.
21 Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus, Pudens, Linus and Claudia send you their greetings, and so do all our Brothers.
