1 Peter 1
1 To the People of God who are living abroad, dispersed throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
Pedro, un apóstol de Jesucristo, a [los] peregrinos elegidos de una diáspora en Ponto, Galacia, Capadocia, Asia y Bitinia,
2 and who were chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the consecration of the Spirit, to learn obedience, and to be purified by the sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus Christ, from Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ. May blessing and peace be yours in ever-increasing measure.
[elegidos] según [la] presciencia de Dios Padre en santificación del Espíritu, para que le obedecieran y fueran rociados con [la ]sangre de Jesucristo. Gracia y paz se les concedan abundantemente.
3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has, in his great mercy, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Bendito el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Quien según su gran misericordia causó que renaciéramos para una esperanza viva por medio de [la] resurrección de Jesucristo de entre [los] muertos,
4 given us the new Life of undying hope, that promises an inheritance, imperishable, stainless, unfading, which has been reserved for you in Heaven —
para [la] herencia incorruptible, incontaminada e inmarchitable, reservada en los cielos para ustedes.
5 for you who, through faith, are being guarded by the power of God, awaiting a Salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last days.
Por [el] poder de Dios ustedes son protegidos bajo custodia por medio de [la] fe para [la] salvación preparada, a fin de que [les ]sea manifestada en [el] tiempo final.
6 At the thought of this you are full of exultation, though (if it has been necessary) you have suffered for the moment somewhat from various trials;
Esto es un gran gozo para ustedes, aunque ahora, si es necesario, por poco tiempo sean afligidos con diversas pruebas.
7 that the genuineness of your faith — a thing far more precious than gold, which is perishable, yet has to be tested by fire — may win praise and glory and honour at the Appearing of Jesus Christ.
La fe es más preciosa que el oro, el cual, aunque perecedero, se prueba con fuego. La prueba de su fe debe resultar en alabanza, gloria y honra en [la] aparición de Jesucristo,
8 Though you have never seen him, yet you love him; though you do not even now see him, yet you believe in him, and exalt with a triumphant happiness too great for words,
a Quien aman, aunque no [lo] vean, en Quien creen sin verlo ahora. Se alegran con un gozo indecible y esplendoroso,
9 as you receive the reward of your faith in the Salvation of your souls!
y obtienen el fin de su fe: [la] salvación de sus almas.
10 It was this Salvation that the Prophets, who spoke long ago of the blessing intended for you, sought, and strove to comprehend;
Los profetas que profetizaron con respecto a la gracia para ustedes, escudriñaron e indagaron cuidadosamente en cuanto a esta salvación.
11 as they strove to discern what that time could be, to which the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when foretelling the sufferings that would befall Christ, and the glories that would follow.
Investigaron quién y cual tiempo indicaba el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, el cual anunciaba con anticipación los padecimientos de Cristo y los resultados gloriosos que vendrían después de ellos.
12 And it was revealed to them that it was not for themselves, but for you, that they were acting as Ministers of the truths which have now been told to you, by those who, with the help of the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven, have brought you the Good News — truths into which even angels long to look.
A ellos se les reveló que no administraban esto para ellos mismos sino para ustedes. Tales cosas les fueron anunciadas por los que predicaron estas Buenas Noticias según [el] Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo. Los ángeles anhelan mirar esto.
13 Therefore concentrate your minds, with the strictest self-control, and fix your hopes on the blessing that is coming for you at the Appearing of Jesus Christ.
Por tanto átense el cinturón de su entendimiento. Sean sobrios. Esperen por completo la gracia que se les traerá cuando se manifieste Jesucristo.
14 Be like obedient children; do not let your lives be shaped by the passions which once swayed you in the days of your ignorance,
Como hijos obedientes, no se amolden a las antiguas pasiones que tenían en su ignorancia.
15 but in your whole life show yourselves to be holy, after the pattern of the Holy One from whom you received your Call.
El que los llamó es santo. Sean también ustedes santos en toda su manera de vivir.
16 For Scripture says — ‘You shall be holy, because I am holy.’
Porque está escrito: Me serán santos, porque Yo soy santo.
17 And since you call upon him as ‘Father,’ who judges every one impartially by what he has done, let reverence be the spirit of your lives during the time of your stay upon earth.
Si invocan como Padre al que juzga con imparcialidad según la obra de cada uno, pórtense con temor todo el tiempo de su peregrinación.
18 For you know that it was not by perishable things, such as silver and gold, that you were Ransomed from the aimless way of living which was handed down to you from your ancestors,
Porque saben que fueron rescatados de su vana manera de vivir, heredada de sus antepasados, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro o plata,
19 but by precious blood, as it were of a lamb, unblemished and spotless, the Blood of Christ.
sino con la sangre preciosa de Cristo, como Cordero sin mancha y sin defecto,
20 Destined for this before the beginning of the world, he has been revealed in these last days for your sakes,
ciertamente escogido antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado en los últimos tiempos por amor a ustedes,
21 who, through him, are faithful to God who raised him from the dead and gave him honour, so that your faith and hope are now in God.
los que por medio de Él son fieles a Dios, Quien lo resucitó de entre [los] muertos y le dio gloria para que su fe y esperanza estén en Dios.
22 Now that, by your obedience to the Truth, you have purified your lives, so that there is growing up among you a genuine brotherly affection, love one another earnestly with all your hearts;
Puesto que ustedes purificaron sus almas por la obediencia a la verdad para [el] amor fraternal no fingido, ámense los unos a los otros fervientemente de corazón.
23 since your new Life has come, not from perishable, but imperishable, seed, through the Message of the Everliving God. (aiōn g165)
No renacieron de una simiente corruptible, sino incorruptible, por medio de [la] Palabra de Dios, que vive y permanece para siempre. (aiōn g165)
24 For — ‘All earthly life is but as grass, and all its splendour as the flower of grass. The grass fades, its flower falls,
Porque: Toda carne es como hierba, Y todo su esplendor como [la ]flor de hierba. La hierba se marchita y la flor se cae.
