1 Corinthians 12
1 In the next place, Brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant about spiritual gifts.
Ahora hermanos, no quiero que ustedes desconozcan los [dones] espirituales.
2 You know that there was a time when you were Gentiles, going astray after idols that could not speak, just as you happened to be led.
Ustedes saben que cuando eran paganos, eran arrastrados ante los ídolos mudos.
3 Therefore I tell you plainly that no one who speaks under the influence of the Spirit of God says ‘JESUS IS ACCURSED,’ and that no one can say ‘JESUS IS LORD,’ except under the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Por lo cual, les informo que nadie que hable por [el] Espíritu de Dios dice: Jesús es una maldición. Y nadie puede decir: Señor Jesús, sino por [el] Espíritu Santo.
4 Gifts differ, but the Spirit is the same;
Hay diversidad de dones, pero el Espíritu es el mismo.
5 ways of serving differ, yet the Master is the same;
Hay diversidad de ministerios, pero el Señor es el mismo.
6 results differ, yet the God who brings about every result is in every case the same.
Hay diversidad de actividades, pero el mismo Dios es Quien efectúa todas las cosas en todos.
7 To each man there is given spiritual illumination for the general good.
A cada uno se le da la manifestación del Espíritu para provecho.
8 To one is given the power to speak with wisdom through the Spirit; to another the power to speak with knowledge, due to the same Spirit;
Porque ciertamente el Espíritu da palabra de sabiduría a uno, palabra de conocimiento a otro según el mismo Espíritu;
9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another power to cure diseases by the one Spirit; to another supernatural powers;
a otro, fe por el mismo Espíritu; y a otro, dones de sanidad por el único Espíritu;
10 to another the gift of preaching; to another the gift of distinguishing between true and false inspiration; to another varieties of the gift of ‘tongues’; to another the power to interpret ‘tongues.’
a otro, hacer milagros; a otro, profecía; a otro, diferenciación de espíritus; a otro, clases de lenguas; y a otro, interpretación de lenguas.
11 All these result from one and the same Spirit, who distributes his gifts to each individually as he wills.
Pero todas estas cosas [las] efectúa el único y el mismo Espíritu, y reparte a cada uno individualmente como Él quiere.
12 For just as the human body is one whole, and yet has many parts, and all its parts, many though they are, form but one body, so it is with the Christ;
Porque así como el cuerpo es uno y tiene muchos miembros, pero todos los miembros, aunque son muchos, son un solo cuerpo, así también es [el cuerpo de] Cristo.
13 for it was by one Spirit that we were all baptized to form one Body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free men, and were all imbued with one Spirit.
También por un solo Espíritu fuimos todos bautizados en un cuerpo, sean judíos o griegos, esclavos o libres. Se nos dio a beber el mismo Espíritu a todos.
14 The human body, I repeat, consists not of one part, but of many.
Además el cuerpo no consta de un solo miembro, sino de muchos.
15 If the foot says ‘Since I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ it does not on that account cease to belong to the body.
Si el pie dice: No soy del cuerpo porque no soy mano, no por eso deja de pertenecer al cuerpo.
16 Or if the ear says ‘Since I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ it does not on that account cease to belong to the body.
Y si la oreja dice: No soy del cuerpo porque no soy ojo, no por eso deja de pertenecer al cuerpo.
17 If all the body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If it were all hearing, where would the sense of smell be?
Si todo el cuerpo es ojo, ¿dónde estaría la oreja? Si todo es oreja, ¿dónde estaría la nariz?
18 But in fact God has placed each individual part just where he thought fit in the body.
Ahora bien, Dios puso cada miembro en el cuerpo como Él quiso.
19 If, however, they all made up only one part, where would the body be?
Si todos son un solo miembro, ¿dónde [estaría] el cuerpo?
20 But in fact, although it has many parts, there is only one body.
Lo cierto es que los miembros son muchos, pero el cuerpo es uno.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand ‘I do not need you,’ nor, again, the head to the feet ‘I do not need you.’
El ojo no puede decir a la mano: No te necesito. Tampoco la cabeza a los pies: No los necesito.
22 No! Those parts of the body that seem naturally the weaker are indispensable;
Pero unos miembros del cuerpo que parecen más débiles, son mucho más necesarios.
23 and those parts which we deem less honourable we surround with special honour; and our ungraceful parts receive a special grace which our graceful parts do not require.
Cubrimos con más abundante honor aquellos miembros del cuerpo que nos parecen menos honorables. Y nuestras partes íntimas tienen más abundante decoro.
24 Yes, God has so constructed the body — by giving a special honour to the part that lacks it —
Nuestras partes presentables no necesitan [decoro]. Pero Dios compuso el cuerpo y dio más abundante honor al que lo necesita,
25 As to secure that there should be no disunion in the body, but that the parts should show the same care for one another.
para que no haya división en el cuerpo, sino que los miembros se preocupen igualmente los unos por los otros.
26 If one part suffers, all the others suffer with it, and if one part has honour done it, all the others share its joy.
De manera que si un miembro sufre, todos los miembros sufren con él. Y si un miembro es honrado, todos los miembros se regocijan con él.
27 Together you are the Body of Christ, and individually its parts.
Ahora bien, ustedes son el cuerpo de Cristo, y cada individuo un miembro de Él.
28 In the Church God has appointed, first, Apostles, secondly Preachers, thirdly Teachers; then he has given supernatural powers, then power to cure diseases, aptness for helping others, capacity to govern, varieties of the gift of ‘tongues.’
En la iglesia, Dios puso a unos primeramente [como] apóstoles; segundo, profetas; tercero, maestros; luego, [los que tienen] poderes milagrosos, dones de sanidades, ayudas, administraciones, clases de lenguas.
29 Can every one be an Apostle? can every one be a Preacher? can every one be a Teacher? can every one have supernatural powers?
¿Todos son apóstoles? ¿Todos son profetas? ¿Todos son maestros? ¿Todos tienen poderes milagrosos?
30 Can every one have power to cure diseases? can every one speak in ‘tongues’? can every one interpret them?
¿Todos tienen dones de sanidades? ¿Todos hablan en lenguas? ¿Todos interpretan?
31 Strive for the greater gifts.
Anhelen ardientemente los mejores dones. Pero yo les muestro un camino más excelente.
