Numbers 9
1 One year after the Israelis left Egypt, during the month of March, while they were in the Sinai Desert, Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, la seconde année après leur sortie du pays d'Egypte, au premier mois, et dit:
2 “Tell the Israeli people that they must celebrate the Passover [Festival again].
Les enfants d'Israël célébreront la Pâque en son temps fixé.
3 They must do it on the fourteenth day of this month, early in the evening, and they must obey all the instructions about it [that I gave you previously].”
Le quatorzième jour de ce mois-ci dans la soirée vous la célébrerez en son temps fixé; vous la célébrerez selon toutes ses règles et tous ses rites.
4 So Moses/I told the people what Yahweh had said about celebrating the Passover.
Et Moïse annonça aux enfants d'Israël qu'ils avaient à célébrer la Pâque.
5 The people celebrated it, there in the Sinai Desert, in the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
Et la Pâque fut célébrée au premier mois, le quatorzième jour du mois dans la soirée, au désert de Sinaï; les enfants d'Israël se conformèrent à tous les ordres que l'Éternel avait donnés à Moïse.
6 But some of the Israeli people had touched a corpse, and as a result they had become unfit to celebrate the Passover. So they asked Aaron and Moses/me,
Et il y eut des hommes qui, se trouvant en état d'impureté à cause d'un mort, ne pouvaient célébrer la Pâque ce jour-là; ils se présentèrent devant Moïse et devant Aaron ce jour-là.
7 “It is true that we have touched a corpse. But why should that prevent us from celebrating the Passover Festival and offering sacrifices to Yahweh like everyone else [RHQ]?”
Et ces mêmes hommes lui dirent: Nous nous trouvons en état d'impureté à cause d'un mort, pourquoi faut-il que nous soyons empêchés d'offrir l'oblation de l'Éternel en son temps avec les enfants d'Israël?
8 Moses/I replied, “Wait here until I go into the Sacred Tent and find out what Yahweh says about it.”
Et Moïse leur dit: Attendez que j'aie appris ce que l'Éternel prescrit pour votre cas particulier.
9 [So Moses/I went into the tent and asked Yahweh what he/I should tell the people], and this is what Yahweh said:
Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
10 “Tell this to the Israeli people: If any of you or your descendants touch a corpse and as a result become unacceptable to me, or if you are away from home on a long trip [at the time to celebrate the Passover], you will still be permitted to celebrate it.
Parle aux enfants d'Israël et leur dis: Celui d'entre vous ou vos descendants, qui se trouve en état d'impureté à cause d'un mort, ou fait un voyage lointain, devra célébrer la Pâque en l'honneur de l'Éternel:
11 But you must celebrate it exactly one month later, early in the evening of the fourteenth day of that month. Eat the meat of the lamb for the Passover Festival with bread that is baked without yeast and eat bitter herbs.
c'est au second mois, le quatorzième jour du mois, dans la soirée qu'ils la célébreront; ils la mangeront avec des azymes et des herbes amères;
12 Do not leave any of it until the next morning. And do not break any of the lamb’s bones. Obey all the regulations about celebrating the Passover.
on n'en gardera aucun reste jusqu'au matin, et on n'en brisera aucun os; on la célébrera selon toutes les règles de la Pâque.
13 But if any of you has not done anything that would make you unfit to celebrate the Passover Festival, and you are not away from home on a long trip, and you do not sacrifice to me at the proper time, you will no longer be allowed to associate with my people. (You will be punished/I will punish you).
Quant à celui qui, se trouvant en état de pureté et n'étant point en voyage, manquera de célébrer la Pâque, cette personne-là sera éliminée de son peuple pour ne pas avoir offert l'oblation de l'Éternel en son temps; cet homme-là sera sous le poids de son péché.
14 Foreigners who live among you may also celebrate the Passover Festival, if they obey all my commands concerning it.”
Et si un étranger séjourne chez vous, il célébrera la Pâque en l'honneur de l'Éternel; il la célébrera selon la règle et le rite de la Pâque. Il n'y aura qu'une même règle pour vous, pour l'étranger et pour l'indigène.
15 On the day that the Sacred Tent was set up, a cloud covered it. From the time that the sun set until the time that the sun rose [the next day], the cloud resembled a [huge] fire. And that is what happened every day [that we/the Israelis were in the desert].
Et le jour où la Résidence fut dressée, la nuée couvrit la Résidence de la Tente du Témoignage, et le soir il y eut sur la Résidence comme une lueur de feu jusqu'au matin.
Et il en était toujours ainsi; [de jour] la nuée la couvrait, et de nuit c'était une lueur de feu.
17 When the cloud rose up and started to move [to a new location], we/they followed it. When the cloud stopped, we/the Israelis stopped there and set up their tents.
Et à mesure que la nuée s'élevait de dessus la Tente, les enfants d'Israël partaient aussitôt pour aller camper dans le lieu où la nuée s'arrêtait.
18 We/They traveled when Yahweh, [by causing the cloud to move or stop], signaled to us/them when to move and when to stop. When the cloud stayed over the Sacred Tent, we/the Israelis stayed at that place.
C'est sur l'ordre de l'Éternel que les enfants d'Israël partaient, et sur l'ordre de l'Éternel ils posaient leur camp, et stationnaient tout le temps que la nuée demeurait sur la Résidence.
19 Sometimes the cloud stayed over the tent for a long time, so when that happened, we/they did not travel.
Et quand la nuée séjournait longtemps sur la Résidence, les enfants d'Israël observaient les rites du culte de l'Éternel, et ne se mettaient point en marche.
20 Sometimes the cloud remained over the tent for only a few days. We/The people stopped and set up our/their tents as Yahweh commanded us/them, and we/they traveled [to a new location] when Yahweh commanded us/them to do that.
Et dans le cas où la nuée ne restait que peu de jours sur la Résidence, les enfants d'Israël campaient sur l'ordre de l'Éternel, et sur l'ordre de l'Éternel ils partaient.
21 Sometimes the cloud stayed in one place for only one day. When that happened, when the cloud rose up [into the sky] the next morning, then we/they traveled. Whenever the cloud moved, during the day or during the night, we/they traveled.
Et dans le cas où la nuée s'arrêtait du soir au matin, puis s'élevait le matin, ils partaient;
22 If the cloud stayed over the Sacred Tent for two days, or for a month, or for a year, during that time we/they stayed where we/they were. But when the cloud rose up [into the sky], we/they started to travel.
ou si la nuée s'élevait après un jour et une nuit, ils partaient; que ce fût deux jours, ou un mois ou plus longtemps, tant que la nuée séjournait sur la Résidence, les enfants d'Israël restaient campés et ne partaient point; mais quand elle s'élevait, ils partaient.
23 When Yahweh commanded us/them to [stop and] set up our/their tents, we/they did that. When he told us/them to move, we/they moved. We/They did whatever Yahweh told Moses/me that we/they should do.
Sur l'ordre de l'Éternel ils campaient, et sur l'ordre de l'Éternel ils partaient; ils observaient les rites du culte de l'Éternel sur l'ordre de l'Éternel transmis par Moïse.
