Numbers 4
1 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse et à Aaron, disant:
2 “Write down the names of the men who belong to the clans descended from Levi.
Fais le dénombrement des fils de Caath d’entre les Lévites, selon leurs familles et leurs maisons,
3 Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. These will be men who will work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au dessus, jusqu’à cinquante ans, de tous ceux qui entrent, pour se tenir et servir dans le tabernacle d’alliance.
4 “The work of these descendants of Kohath will be [to take care of] the sacred items [that are used when the people worship] at the Sacred Tent.
Voici la fonction des fils de Caath: C’est dans le tabernacle et le Saint des saints
5 When you Israelis move to another location, Aaron and his sons must enter the tent to take down the curtain that separates the Very Holy Place from the other part of the Sacred Tent. They must cover the sacred chest with that curtain.
Qu’entreront Aaron et ses fils, quand le camp devra être levé, et ils ôteront le voile qui est suspendu devant la porte, et ils en envelopperont l’arche du témoignage,
6 Then they must cover that with a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Over that they must spread a blue cloth. Then they must insert into the rings on the chest the poles [for carrying it].
Et ils le couvriront encore d’une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils étendront par-dessus un drap tout d’hyacinthe, et ils introduiront les leviers.
7 “Then they must put a blue cloth over the table on which the priests put the sacred bread. On top of the cloth they must put the bowls [for incense], the pans, the other dishes, the jars for [the wine that will be] offered as a sacrifice, and the sacred bread.
Ils envelopperont aussi la table de proposition d’un drap d’hyacinthe, et ils mettront avec elle les encensoirs, les petits mortiers, les tasses et les coupes pour faire les libations; et les pains seront toujours sur elle;
8 Over all of this they must spread a scarlet/red cloth. Finally, they must put on top a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into the [rings at the corners of] the tables the poles [for carrying it].
Et ils étendront par-dessus un drap d’écarlate qu’ils couvriront encore d’une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils y introduiront les leviers.
9 “Then with another blue cloth they must cover the lampstand, the lamps, the lamp snuffers, the trays, and the special jars of [olive] oil [to burn in the lamps].
Ils prendront de plus un drap d’hyacinthe dont ils couvriront le chandelier avec ses lampes, ses pincettes, ses mouchettes et tous les vases d’huile qui sont nécessaires pour entretenir les lampes.
10 They must cover the lampstand and all the other items with a nice covering made from the skins of goats. They must place all these things on a frame for carrying them.
Et sur toutes ces choses ils poseront une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils introduiront les leviers.
11 “Then they must spread another blue cloth over the gold altar [which is used for burning] incense. Over this they must spread a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into [the rings of] that altar the poles for carrying it.
Et l’autel d’or aussi, ils l’envelopperont d’un drap d’hyacinthe, et ils étendront par-dessus une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils y introduiront les leviers.
12 “They must take all the other items that are inside the Sacred Tent and wrap them in a blue cloth, cover that with a nice covering made from the skins of goats, and place all that on a frame for carrying it.
Tous les vases avec lesquels se fait le service dans le sanctuaire, ils les envelopperont dans un drap d’hyacinthe, et ils étendront par-dessus une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils introduiront les leviers.
13 “Then they must remove the ashes from the altar [on which they have burned sacrifices]. Then they must cover the altar with a purple cloth.
Mais ils nettoieront aussi l’autel de ses cendres, et ils l’envelopperont dans un drap de pourpre,
14 Then they must spread on top of the cloth all the items used at the altar—the pans [for carrying the hot coals], the meat forks, the shovels, the bowls [for containing the blood to sprinkle on the people], and all the other containers. Then they must spread over all those things a nice covering made from the skins of goats. Then they must insert into [the rings at the sides of] the altar the poles [for carrying it].
Et ils y mettront avec lui tous les vases dont ils se servent pour son ministère, c’est-à-dire les brasiers, les fourchettes, les tridents, les crocs et les pelles. Ils couvriront ensemble tous les vases de l’autel d’une couverture de peaux violettes, et ils introduiront les leviers.
15 “Then Aaron and his sons have finished covering all these sacred things, the Israeli people will be ready to move [to a new location]. The descendants of Kohath must come and carry all the sacred things to [the next place] where you Israelis will set up your tents. But the descendants of Kohath must not touch any of these sacred items, because they will [immediately] die [if they touch them]. They are the ones who will carry these things, [but they must not touch them].
Or, lorsque Aaron et ses fils auront enveloppé le sanctuaire et tous ses vases, au lever du camp, les fils de Caath entreront pour les porter ainsi enveloppés; mais ils ne toucheront point les vases du sanctuaire, de peur qu’ils ne meurent. Telles sont dans le tabernacle d’alliance les charges des fils de Caath,
16 “Aaron’s son Eleazar will have the work of taking care of the [olive] oil for the lamps, the nice-smelling incense, the grain which will be burned on the altar each day, and the [olive] oil for anointing [the priests]. Eleazar is the one who will supervise the work that is done at the Sacred Tent and the men who take care of everything that is in it.”
Au-dessus desquels sera Eléazar, fils d’Aaron, le prêtre, au soin de qui appartient l’huile pour entretenir les lampes, le parfum de composition, le sacrifice perpétuel, l’huile de l’onction et tout ce qui appartient au service du tabernacle et de tous les vases qui sont dans le tabernacle.
17 “Then Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse et à Aaron, disant:
18 “When the descendants of Kohath approach the sacred items in the Sacred Tent [to take them to another location], Aaron and his sons must always go in with them and show each of them what work to do and what things to carry. But the descendants of Kohath must not enter the Sacred Tent [at any other time] and look at the things that are in it. If they do that, I will get rid of all the descendants of Kohath.”
Ne détruisez point le peuple de Caath du milieu des Lévites;
Mais faites ceci pour eux, afin qu’ils vivent et qu’ils ne meurent point, s’ils touchent le Saint des saints. Aaron et ses fils entreront, et ils disposeront eux-mêmes les ouvrages de tous séparément, et ils partageront ce que chacun doit porter.
Que les autres ne voient nullement avec curiosité ce qui est dans le sanctuaire, avant qu’il soit enveloppé, autrement ils mourront.
21 Yahweh also said to Moses/me,
Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, disant:
22 “Write down the names of all the men who belong to the clans descended from the Gershon [division of the descendants of Levi].
Fais aussi le dénombrement des enfants de Gerson, selon leurs maisons, leurs familles et leur parenté,
23 Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. They will be men who will also work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à cinquante ans. Dénombre tous ceux qui entrent et qui servent dans le tabernacle d’alliance.
24 “This is the work that they must do and the things that they must carry [when you move to a new location]:
L’office de la famille des Gersonites est,
25 They must carry the curtains of the Sacred Tent; they must carry the Sacred Tent and all the things that cover it, including the nice outer covering made from skins of goats, and the curtain which is at the entrance of the Sacred Tent.
Qu’ils portent les rideaux du tabernacle et le toit d’alliance, l’autre couverture, puis la couverture violette qui est par-dessus tout, et le voile qui est suspendu à l’entrée du tabernacle d’alliance;
26 They must also carry the curtains that form the wall that surrounds the courtyard that surrounds the Sacred Tent and the altar, the curtain that is at the entrance to the courtyard, and the ropes [that fasten the curtains]. They must also do the packing and loading of these things.
Les rideaux du parvis et le voile de l’entrée, qui est devant le tabernacle. Tout ce qui appartient à l’autel, les cordages et les vases de service,
27 Aaron and his sons will supervise the work of all the descendants of Gershom. That work includes carrying those things and doing other work that is necessary for moving them. They must tell each of the descendants of Gershom what things they must carry.
Au commandement d’Aaron et de ses fils, les fils de Gerson le porteront, et chacun saura à quelle charge il doit être soumis.
28 Those are the tasks that you must give to the men who belong to the clans descended from Gershom. Aaron’s son Ithamar is the one who will supervise their work.
Tel est l’emploi de la famille des Gersonites dans le tabernacle d’alliance; et ils seront sous la main d’Ithamar, fils d’Aaron le prêtre.
29 Count also the men who belong to the clans descended from Levi’s son Merari.
Tu recenseras aussi les fils de Mérari selon leurs maisons et les familles de leurs pères,
30 Write the names of the men who are between 30 and 50 years old. They will be men who will also work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à cinquante ans, tous ceux qui entrent pour l’office de leur ministère, et le service de l’alliance de témoignage.
31 Their work will be to carry the frames that hold up the tent, the crossbars, the posts [that hold up the curtains], and the bases.
Voici leurs charges: ils porteront les ais du tabernacle, ses leviers, ses colonnes et leurs soubassements,
32 They must also carry the posts for [the curtains that form the walls of] the courtyard and the bases for the posts, the tent pegs, and the ropes [to fasten the curtains]. Tell each man what things he must carry.
Et aussi les colonnes autour du parvis avec leurs soubassements, leurs pieux et leurs cordages. Ils prendront le compte de tous les vases et des autres objets, et c’est ainsi qu’ils les porteront.
33 Those are the tasks that the descendants of Merari must do at the Sacred Tent. Aaron’s son Ithamar is the one who will supervise them.”
Tel est l’office des familles des Mérarites et leur ministère dans le tabernacle d’alliance; et ils sont sous la main d’Ithamar, fils d’Aaron, le prêtre.
34 So Aaron and Moses/I and the Israeli leaders counted the descendants of Kohath, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
Moïse donc, Aaron et les princes de la synagogue recensèrent les fils de Caath, selon leur parenté et les maisons de leurs pères,
35 They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old who were able to work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus jusqu’à cinquante ans, tous ceux qui entrent au service du tabernacle d’alliance;
36 The total was 2,750 men.
Et il s’en trouva deux mille sept cent cinquante.
37 They were the descendants of Kohath who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent. Aaron and Moses/I counted them just as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
C’est là le nombre du peuple de Caath qui entrent dans le tabernacle d’alliance: Moïse et Aaron les dénombrèrent, selon la parole du Seigneur, par l’entremise de Moïse.
38 They/We also counted the descendants of Gershon, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
Les fils de Gerson aussi furent dénombrés selon leur parenté et les maisons de leurs pères,
39 They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old who were able to work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus, jusqu’à cinquante ans, tous ceux qui entrent pour servir dans le tabernacle d’alliance;
40 The total was 2,630 men.
Et il s’en trouva deux mille six cent trente.
41 They were the descendants of Gershon who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent. Aaron and Moses/I counted them as Yahweh had commanded.
C’est là le peuple des Gersonites, que dénombrèrent Moïse et Aaron, selon la parole du Seigneur.
42 They/We also counted the descendants of Merari, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
Ensuite furent dénombrés les fils de Mérari selon leur parenté et les maisons de leurs pères,
43 They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old who were able to work at the Sacred Tent.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus, jusqu’à cinquante ans, tous ceux qui entrent pour accomplir les rites du tabernacle d’alliance;
44 The total was 3,200 men.
Et il s’en trouva trois mille deux cents.
45 They were the descendants of Merari who [were able to] work. Aaron and Moses/I counted them as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me.
Tel est le nombre des fils de Mérari que recensèrent Moïse et Aaron, selon l’ordre du Seigneur, par l’entremise de Moïse.
46 So Aaron and Moses/I and the Israeli leaders counted all the descendants of Levi, writing also the names of their clans and family groups.
Tous ceux qui furent recensés d’entre les Lévites, et que firent recenser par leurs noms, Moïse, Aaron et les princes d’Israël, selon leur parenté et les maisons de leurs pères,
47 They/We counted all the men who were between 30 and 50 years old. They were ones who [were able to] work at the Sacred Tent and who carried the tent and everything that was connected with it.
Depuis trente ans et au-dessus, jusqu’à cinquante ans, entrant pour le service du tabernacle et pour porter les fardeaux,
48 The total was 8,580 men.
Furent en tout huit mille cinq cent quatre-vingts.
49 They/We completed the counting [of all the descendants of Levi], as Yahweh had commanded Moses/me. And they/we told each man what work he was to do and what things he must carry [when they moved to a new location].
C’est selon la parole du Seigneur que Moïse les recensa, chacun selon son office et ses charges, comme lui avait ordonné le Seigneur.
