Luke 9
1 [One day] Jesus summoned his twelve [apostles], and gave them power to expel all [kinds of] demons and to heal [people with] diseases. He gave them authority to do that.
१मग त्याने त्या बारा शिष्यांस एकत्र बोलावून त्यांना सर्व भूतांवर आणि रोग बरे करायला, सामर्थ्य व अधिकार दिला,
2 [Before] he sent them out to heal people and to tell people [what it meant to let] God (rule/have complete control [over]) [their lives],
२आणि त्याने त्यांना देवाच्या राज्याविषयीचा संदेश जाहीर करायला व रोग्यांना बरे करायला पाठवले.
3 he said to them, “Do not take things for your journey. Do not take a walking stick or a [traveler’s] bag or food or money. Do not take (an extra shirt/extra clothes).
३तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “वाटेसाठी काही घेऊ नका; काठी किंवा झोळी किंवा भाकर किंवा पैसा घेऊ नका आणि दोन दोन अंगरखेही घेवू नका.
4 Whenever you enter some house [to lodge there], stay in that house until you leave that town.
४आणि ज्या कोणत्याही घरात तुम्ही जाल, तेथेच राहा व तेथूनच निघून जा.
5 [In towns] where the people do not welcome you, [you should not continue to stay there. Just] leave those towns. And as you leave, shake off the dust from your feet. [Do that to] warn them [that God will punish them for rejecting your message].”
५जितके तुम्हास अंगीकारीत नाहीत तितक्यांच्याविरुद्ध साक्ष व्हावी म्हणून तुम्ही त्या नगरातून निघते वेळी आपल्या पायांची धूळ झाडून टाका.”
6 Then they left and traveled through many villages. Everywhere [they went], they told people God’s good message and healed sick people.
६तेव्हा ते निघाले आणि सर्व ठिकाणी सुवार्ता सांगत व रोग बरे करीत गांवोगांवी फिरत गेले.
7 Herod [Antipas], the ruler of [that] district, heard about the things that [Jesus and his disciples] were doing. [He had previously commanded his soldiers to execute John the Baptizer, so now] he was perplexed, because some people were saying that John had become alive again [and was doing those miracles].
७घडत असलेल्या सर्व गोष्टी ऐकून हेरोद राजा फार घोटाळ्यात पडला, कारण “योहान मरण पावलेल्यांमधून उठला आहे.” असे कित्येक म्हणत होते;
8 Others were saying that [the prophet] Elijah had appeared [again as had been prophesied]. Others were saying that one of the [other] former prophets had become alive again [and was doing those miracles].
८आणि कित्येक म्हणत होते की “एलीया प्रकट झाला आहे” आणि दुसरे म्हणत होते की “पुरातन संदेष्ट्यातील कोणीएक उठला आहे.”
9 But Herod said, “[It cannot be John who is doing these things], [because] I [commanded my soldiers to] cut off his head. So who is [this man] that I am hearing these things about?” And he kept wanting to see [Jesus].
९तेव्हा हेरोद म्हणाला, “योहानाचे शीर मी तोडले, पण ज्याच्याविषयी अशा गोष्टी मी ऐकतो तो हा कोण आहे?” आणि तो त्यास भेटायला पाहत होता.
10 When the apostles returned [from traveling to various towns], they told Jesus the things that they had done. Then he took them and they went by themselves [by boat] to a town called Bethsaida.
१०मग प्रेषितांनी परत येऊन आपण जे काही केले होते ते त्यास सविस्तर सांगितले. मग तो त्यांना बरोबर घेऊन बेथसैदा नावाच्या नगराकडे एकीकडे गेला.
11 But when the crowds [of people who had been with Jesus] found out about that, they followed him [on land. When they got to where he was], he welcomed them. He taught them about how God is going to some day (rule as king/have complete control [over people’s lives]). He also healed the sick people.
११परंतु याविषयी लोकांनी ऐकल्यावर ते त्याच्यामागे गेले. तेव्हा तो त्यांचे स्वागत करून त्यांच्याशी देवाच्या राज्याविषयी बोलू लागला आणि ज्यांना बरे होण्याची गरज होती त्यांना त्याने बरे केले.
12 Late in the afternoon Jesus’ twelve [apostles] came to him and said, “This is a place where nobody lives, so dismiss the people so that they can go to the surrounding villages and other places where they can get some food and find places to stay!”
१२दिवस संपत आला, तेव्हा बारा जण जवळ येऊन त्यास म्हणाले, “समुदायाला निरोप दे, म्हणजे ते आसपासच्या गावांत व खेड्यांत जाऊन उतरतील व खाण्याची सोय करतील; कारण आपण येथे रानातल्या ठिकाणी आहो.”
13 But he said to them, “[No], you [yourselves] give them something to eat!” They replied, “We [(exc)] have only five small loaves and two [cooked] fish. Are you [(sg)] going to [give] us [the money] to go somewhere and buy food for all these people?”
१३पण तो त्यांना म्हणाला, “तुम्हीच त्यांना खायला द्या.” ते म्हणाले, “आम्ही जाऊन या लोकांसाठी अन्न विकत आणले नाही, तर पाच भाकरी व दोन मासे एवढ्याशिवाय आम्हाजवळ काही नाही.”
14 There were about 5,000 men [there]. He replied to the disciples, “[No], [just] tell the people to sit down. Tell them to sit in groups, with about 50 people in each group.”
१४कारण ते सुमारे पाच हजार पुरूष होते. तेव्हा त्याने आपल्या शिष्यांना सांगितले, “पन्नास पन्नास जणांच्या पंक्ती करून त्यास बसवा,”
15 After they told the people that, they all sat down.
१५मग त्यांनी सांगितल्याप्रमाणे करून सर्वांस बसवले.
16 Then he took the five small loaves and the two fish. He looked up towards heaven and thanked [God for them]. Then he broke them [into pieces] and gave them to the disciples so that they would distribute them to the crowd.
१६त्याने त्या पांच भाकरी व ते दोन मासे घेतले आणि वर स्वर्गाकडे पाहून त्यास आशीर्वाद दिला आणि त्यांचे तुकडे करून ते लोकसमुदायाला वाढण्याकरता शिष्यांजवळ दिले.
17 All [the people in the crowd] ate until they all had enough to eat. Then [the disciples] collected twelve baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over!
१७तेव्हा ते सर्व जेवून तृप्त झाले; आणि त्यांनी मोडलेल्या तुकड्यांतले उरले ते बारा टोपल्या भरून त्यांनी उचलून घेतले.
18 [One day] Jesus was praying in a place where only the disciples were with him. He asked them, “The crowds [of people], who do they say that I [really] am?”
१८आणि असे झाले की तो एकांतात प्रार्थना करत असता शिष्य त्याच्याबरोबर होते, तेव्हा त्याने त्यांना विचारून म्हटले, “लोकसमुदाय मला कोण म्हणून म्हणतात?”
19 They replied, “[Some people say that you are] John the Baptizer, [who has come back to life again]. Others say that you are [the prophet] Elijah, [who has returned from heaven as God promised]. Others say that you are one of the [other] prophets who lived long ago, who has come back to life again.”
१९मग त्यांनी उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “बाप्तिस्मा करणारा योहान, पण कित्येक म्हणतात ‘एलीया,’ व कित्येक म्हणतात की, पुरातन संदेष्ट्यातील कोणीएक पुन्हा उठला आहे.”
20 He asked them, “What about you [(pl)]? Who do you say that I am?” Peter replied, “You [(sg)] are the Messiah, who [has come from] God.”
२०त्याने त्यांना म्हटले, “पण तुम्ही मला कोण म्हणून म्हणता?” तेव्हा पेत्राने उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “देवाचा ख्रिस्त.”
21 Then Jesus warned them strongly not to tell that to anyone [yet].
२१पण हे कोणाला सांगू नये अशी त्याने त्यांना निक्षून आज्ञा केली.
22 Then he said, “[Even though I am] the one who came from heaven, it is necessary that I suffer very much. It is also necessary that I be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the [Jewish] laws {that the [Jewish] elders and the chief priests and the men who teach the [Jewish] laws will reject me}. It is necessary that I be killed {that [people] will kill me}. Then on the third day [after that], I will become alive again.”
२२आणि म्हटले, “मनुष्याच्या पुत्राने पुष्कळ दुःखे सोसावी आणि वडील व मुख्य याजक लोक व नियमशास्त्र शिक्षक यांच्याकडून नाकारले जावे व जीवे मारले जावे व तिसऱ्या दिवशी पुन्हा उठवले जावे, याचे अगत्य आहे.”
23 Then he said to all of them, “If any one [of you] wants to be my disciple, you must not do [only] what you yourself desire [to do]. [Specifically], you must be willing each day [MET] [to let others hurt you and disgrace you. That is like what is done to criminals who are forced] to carry [MET] crosses [to the place where they will be executed]. [That is what anyone who wants to] be my disciple [must do].
२३आणि तो सर्वांना म्हणाला, “जर कोणी माझ्यामागे येऊ इच्छितो तर त्याने स्वतःला नाकारावे व दररोज आपला वधस्तंभ उचलून घ्यावा व माझ्यामागे चालावे.
24 You must do that, because those who try to save their lives [by denying that they belong to me when people want to kill them for believing in me] will not live [eternally], but those who are killed because of being my [disciples] will live [forever with me].
२४कारण जो कोणी आपला जीव वाचवू इच्छितो तो त्यास गमावील, परंतु जो कोणी माझ्याकरिता आपला जीव गमावील तो त्यास वाचवील.
25 People might get everything that [they want] in this world, but (they are really gaining nothing if they do not get eternal life by [becoming my disciples]!/are they really gaining anything if they do not get eternal life by [becoming my disciples]?) [RHQ]
२५कारण मनुष्याने सगळे जग मिळवून स्वतःला गमावले किंवा स्वतःचा नाश करून घेतला तर त्यास काय लाभ होईल?
26 Those who reject my message [and] refuse to say that [they belong] to me, [I], the one who came from heaven, will also refuse to say that [they belong to me] when I come back with the holy angels, and have the glorious brightness that my Father has.
२६जो कोणी माझ्याविषयीची व माझ्या वचनाविषयी लाज धरील त्यांच्याविषयीची लाज मनुष्याचा पुत्र जेव्हा आपल्या स्वतःच्या, पित्याच्या व पवित्र दूतांच्या गौरवाने येईल तेव्हा धरील.
27 But listen carefully! Some of you [(pl)] who are here now will see God ruling [MET] [in many powerful ways]. You will see it before you die!”
२७आणि मी तुम्हास खरे सांगतो की, येथे उभे राहणाऱ्यांतले काही असे आहेत की, ते देवाचे राज्य पाहतील तोपर्यंत त्यांना मरणाचा अनुभव येणारच नाही.”
28 About a week after [Jesus] said those things, he took Peter, James, and [James’ brother] John and led them up a mountain so that he could pray [there].
२८आणि या गोष्टी सांगितल्यानंतर सुमारे आठ दिवसानी असे झाले की, पेत्र व योहान व याकोब यांना बरोबर घेऊन तो प्रार्थना करायला डोंगरावर गेला.
29 As he was praying, his face appeared very different to them. His clothes became as bright as lightning.
२९तेव्हा तो प्रार्थना करीत असता त्याच्या मुखाचे रूप पालटले व त्याचे वस्त्र पांढरे शुभ्र लखलखीत झाले.
30 Suddenly, two men appeared who had the brightness [of heaven] surrounding them. They were [prophets who had lived long ago], Moses and Elijah. They started talking with Jesus about how he [would accomplish what God had planned when he died] [EUP] [very soon] in Jerusalem.
३०आणि पाहा, दोन पुरूष त्याच्याशी संभाषण करीत होते; हे मोशे व एलीया होते,
३१ते तेजस्वी दिसत होते आणि जे त्याचे प्रयाण तो यरूशलेम शहरात पूर्ण करणार होता, त्याविषयी ते बोलत होते.
32 Peter and the other [disciples] who were with him were sound asleep. When they woke up, they saw [Jesus’] brightness. They also saw the two men standing with him.
३२तेव्हा पेत्र व त्याच्याबरोबर जे होते ते झोपेने भारावले होते, परंतु ते पूर्णपणे जागे झाले तेव्हा त्यांचे तेज आणि जे दोन पुरूष त्याच्याजवळ उभे राहिले होते त्यांनाही पहिले.
33 As [Moses and Elijah] were starting to leave Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is wonderful for us to be here! Allow us to make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah!” But he really did not realize what he was talking about.
३३मग असे झाले की ते त्याच्यापासून दूर होत असता पेत्राने येशूला म्हटले, “हे गुरु, येथे असणे आम्हास बरे आहे; तर आम्ही तीन मंडप करू, तुझ्यासाठी एक व मोशेसाठी एक व एलीयासाठी एक.” आपण काय बोलत आहोत याचे त्यास भान नव्हते.
34 As he was saying that, a [bright] cloud appeared and covered them all. The disciples were afraid as the cloud surrounded them.
३४तो या गोष्टी बोलत असता एक ढग येऊन त्यांच्यावर सावली करू लागला आणि ते ढगांत शिरले तेव्हा ते भ्याले.
35 [God] [MTY/EUP] spoke to them from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son. He is the one whom [I] have chosen [to do a great work for me]. [So] you must listen to him!”
३५आणि ढगांतून वाणी आली, ती म्हणाली, “हा माझा निवडलेला पुत्र आहे, याचे तुम्ही ऐका.”
36 After [God] [MTY/EUP] finished saying that, [the three disciples] saw that only Jesus was there. They did not tell anyone what they had seen until much later.
३६ही वाणी झाल्यावर येशू एकटाच दिसला आणि ते उगेच राहिले व ज्या गोष्टी त्यांनी पहिल्या होत्या त्यांतले काहीच त्यांनी त्या दिवसांमध्ये कोणाला सांगितले नाही.
37 The next day, after they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd [of people] met Jesus.
३७आणि असे झाले की दुसऱ्या दिवशी ते डोंगरावरून खाली आल्यावर मोठा लोकसमुदाय त्यास भेटला.
38 Then a man from the crowd exclaimed, “Teacher, I plead with you, [do something to help] my son! He is my only child!
३८तेव्हा पाहा, समुदायातील एक मनुष्य मोठ्याने ओरडून म्हणाला, हे गुरु, मी तुला विनंती करतो, माझ्या मुलाकडे पाहा, कारण तो माझे एकुलते मूल आहे.
39 At various times an evil spirit suddenly seizes him and [causes] him to scream. The evil spirit shakes him violently and causes him to foam at the mouth. It does not leave until my child is completely exhausted.
३९आणि पाहा, कोणी आत्मा त्यास धरतो आणि हा एकाएकी ओरडतो, मग तो याला असा पिळतो की त्याच्या तोंडाला फेस येतो, तो याला पुष्कळ त्रास देतो व याला मोठ्या प्रयासाने सोडून जातो.
40 I pleaded with your disciples [who were here] for them to expel [the evil spirit], but they were not able to do it!”
४०आणि तो काढावा म्हणून मी तुझ्या शिष्यांना विनंती केली, परंतु त्यांच्याने तो निघेना.
41 Jesus replied [by saying to everyone who had gathered there], “[You who have seen how I help people] do not believe [that you can do anything]. What you [think] is perverted! How long must I be with you [before you are able to do what I do] [RHQ]? [How long must I] endure your [lack of faith]?” [Then he said to the boy’s father], “Bring your [(sg)] son here [to me]!”
४१तेव्हा येशूने उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “हे अविश्वासी व विपरीत पिढी, मी कोठेपर्यंत तुमच्याबरोबर राहू व तुमचे सोसू? तू आपल्या मुलाला इकडे आण.”
42 While they were bringing the boy to Jesus, the demon attacked the boy, threw him to the ground, and shook him severely. But Jesus rebuked the evil spirit and healed the boy. Then he returned him to his father’s [care].
४२मग तो जवळ येत आहे इतक्यात भूताने त्यास खाली आपटले व भारी पिळून टाकले, पण येशूने त्या अशुद्ध आत्म्याला धमकावले व मुलाला बरे करून त्याच्या पित्याजवळ परत दिले.
43 All the people [there] were amazed at the great [power] of God. Luke 9:43b-45 While they were all amazed at all the miracles [Jesus] was doing, he said to his disciples,
४३मग देवाचे हे महान सामर्थ्य पाहून सर्व लोक थक्क झाले आणि तो जी कामे करीत होता त्या सर्वांवरून सर्वजण आश्चर्य करीत असता तो आपल्या शिष्यांना म्हणाला,
44 “Think carefully [MTY] about what I am about to tell you: [Even though I am] the one who came from heaven, [I will soon] be handed over to the authorities (OR, my enemies) {[someone] is about to enable [MTY] my enemies to seize me}.”
४४“या गोष्टी तुम्ही लक्षात ठेवा कारण मनुष्याचा पुत्र मनुष्यांच्या हाती दिला जाणार आहे.”
45 But [the disciples] did not understand what he was saying; [God] prevented them from understanding it, so that they would not know [yet] what he meant. And they were afraid to ask him about [what he had said].
४५परंतु हे बोलणे त्यांना समजले नाही व त्यांना ते समजू नये म्हणून ते त्यांच्यापासून गुप्त राखलेले होते; आणि ते या बोलण्याविषयी त्यास विचारायला भीत होते.
46 The disciples began to argue among themselves about which one of them would be the greatest [when Jesus became king].
४६त्यानंतर आपणांमध्ये कोण मोठा आहे याविषयी त्यांच्यामध्ये वादविवाद उठला.
47 But Jesus perceived what they were thinking. So he brought a young child to his side.
४७तेव्हा येशूने त्यांच्या अंतःकरणाचे विचार जाणून एका बालकाला जवळ घेऊन त्यास आपल्यापाशी उभे केले,
48 He said to [the disciples], “Those who, because they [love] me, (OR, because they want to behave like me) welcome a little child ([like] this one/[as] I [would]) [MTY], [God considers that] [MET] they are welcoming me. And those who welcome me, [God considers] that [MET] they are welcoming him, the one who sent me. Remember that those among you who think of themselves as being very unimportant will be the ones [whom God considers] to be great.”
४८आणि त्यांना म्हटले, “जो कोणी माझ्या नावाने या बालकाला स्वीकारतो तो मला स्वीकारतो आणि जो कोणी माझा स्वीकार करतो तो ज्याने मला पाठवले त्याचा स्वीकार करतो; कारण तुम्हा सर्वांमध्ये जो सर्वांहून लहान आहे तोच मोठा आहे.”
49 John replied to [Jesus], “Master, we [(exc)] saw a man who was expelling demons, [claiming] that [he had] authority from you [MTY] to do that. So we told him to stop doing it, because he is not one of us [disciples].”
४९तेव्हा योहानाने उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, “हे गुरु, आम्ही कोण एकाला तुझ्या नावाने भूते काढतांना पाहिले आणि आम्ही त्यास मना केले, कारण तो आमच्याबरोबर तुझ्यामागे चालत नाही.”
50 But Jesus said to him [and the other disciples], “Do not tell him not to [do that]! Remember that those who are not opposing you are trying to [achieve the same goals that] you are!”
५०तेव्हा येशूने त्यास म्हटले, “मना करू नका, कारण जो तुम्हास प्रतिकूल नाही तो तुम्हास अनुकूल आहे.”
51 When it was almost time for [God] to take Jesus up to heaven, he firmly resolved to go to Jerusalem.
५१आणि असे झाले की त्यास वर घेतले जाण्याचा समय जवळ आला तेव्हा यरूशलेम शहरास जाण्याच्या दृढनिश्चयाने त्याने आपले तोंड वळवले.
52 He sent some messengers to go ahead of him, and they entered a village in Samaria [district] to prepare for him [SYN] [to go there].
५२मग त्याने आपल्यापुढे निरोपे पाठवले, तेव्हा ते निघून त्याच्यासाठी तयारी करण्यास शोमरोन्यांच्या एका गावात गेले,
53 But [the Samaritans did not like the Jews because of their insisting that it was necessary to go to Jerusalem to worship God. So], because Jesus had firmly resolved to go to Jerusalem, they would not let him come [to their village].
५३पण त्यांनी त्यास अंगीकारले नाही, कारण यरूशलेम शहराकडे जाण्याचा त्याचा रोख होता.
54 When two of his disciples, James and John, heard about that, they said, “Lord, do you [(sg)] want us [(exc)] to pray that [God] will send fire down from heaven, [as the prophet Elijah did long ago], and destroy those people?”
५४तेव्हा त्याचे शिष्य याकोब व योहान हे पाहून म्हणाले, “हे प्रभू, एलीयाने केले होते तसेच आकाशांतून अग्नीने पडून त्याचा नाश करावा म्हणून आम्ही आज्ञा करावी, अशी तुझी इच्छा आहे काय?”
55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them [for saying that].
५५परंतु त्याने वळून त्यांना धमकावले आणि म्हटले, “तुम्ही कोणत्या आत्म्याचे आहात हे तुम्हास ठाऊक नाही;
56 So they went to a different village.
५६कारण मनुष्याचा पुत्र मनुष्यांच्या जीवाचा नाश करायला नाही, तर त्यांना तारायला आला आहे.” मग ते दुसऱ्या गावाला गेले.
57 As Jesus and the disciples were walking along the road, one man said to him, “I will go with you [(sg)] wherever you go!”
५७आणि ते वाटेने चालत असता कोणीएक त्यास म्हणाला, “जेथे कोठे तू जाशील तेथे मी तुझ्यामागे येईन.”
58 [In order that the man might know what he could expect if he went with Jesus], Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes [in the ground in which to live], and birds have nests, but [even though I am] the one who came from heaven, I do not have a home where I can sleep!”
५८तेव्हा येशू त्यास म्हणाला, “खोकडांस बिळे व आकाशांतल्या पाखरांस घरटी आहेत, परंतु मनुष्याच्या पुत्राला आपले डोके टेकायला ठिकाण नाही.”
59 Jesus told another man, “Come with me!” But the man said, “Lord/Sir, let me go [home] first. [After] my father [dies] I will bury him, [and then I will come with you].”
५९मग त्याने दुसऱ्या एकाला म्हटले, “माझ्यामागे ये,” परंतु तो म्हणाला, “हे प्रभू, पहिल्याने मला जाऊ दे आणि माझ्या पित्याला पुरू दे,”
60 But Jesus said to him, “[God considers that those who do not have eternal life are] dead [MET]. Let those people [do the work of] burying people who die. As for you, go and tell people about how God wants (to rule/to have complete control [over]) [people’s lives]!”
६०तेव्हा येशूने त्यास म्हटले, “मरण पावलेल्यांना आपल्या मरण पावलेल्यांस पुरू दे, परंतु तू जाऊन देवाच्या राज्याची घोषणा कर.”
61 Someone else said, “Lord, I will come with you and be your disciple, but first let me go home to say goodbye to my relatives.”
६१तेव्हा आणखी एकजण म्हणाला, हे प्रभू, मी तुझ्यामागे येईन, परंतु पहिल्याने मला माझ्या घरात जे आहे त्यांचा निरोप घेऊ दे.
62 Jesus said to him, “Anyone who is plowing his field should not look back [to see what he has done. He must look forward to what is ahead. Similarly], [anyone who continues to be concerned about his family and other things he has left behind] is not fit [to serve me and tell others about how] God wants to rule [MTY] [people’s lives].”
६२पण येशूने त्यास म्हटले, “जो कोणी नांगराला आपला हात घातल्यावर मागील गोष्टींकडे पाहत राहतो असा कोणीही देवाच्या राज्याला उपयोगी नाही.”
