Judges 16
1 One day Samson went to Gaza [city in the Philistia area]. He spent some time with a prostitute.
ஒரு நாள் சிம்சோன் பெலிஸ்திய பட்டணம் காசாவுக்குப் போனபோது அங்கே ஒரு வேசியைக் கண்டான். அவன் அங்கு சென்று அன்று இரவை அவளுடன் கழித்தான்.
2 People soon found out that Samson was there, so the men of Gaza gathered together at the city gate and waited all night. They said to themselves, “When it dawns tomorrow morning, we will kill him [when he tries to leave the city].”
காசாவின் மக்கள், “சிம்சோன் இங்கே இருக்கிறான்” என்று கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, அவர்கள் அந்த இடத்தைச் சுற்றிவளைத்து இரவு முழுவதும் பட்டணத்து வாசலில் பதுங்கியிருந்தார்கள். இரவுவேளையில் ஒன்றும் செய்யாமல், காலையில் அவன் வெளியில் வரும்போது அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யக் காத்திருந்தனர்.
3 But Samson did not stay there all night. At midnight, he got up. He went to the city gate, he took hold of its two posts, and he lifted it up out of the ground, with its [connecting cross] bar still attached. He put it on his shoulders and carried it [many miles] uphill to Hebron.
ஆனால் சிம்சோன் நள்ளிரவு வரையுமே அங்கு படுத்திருந்தான். பின்பு அவன் எழுந்து பட்டணத்து வாசல் கதவுகளையும், அதன் இரண்டு நிலைகளையும், தாழ்ப்பாள்களையும் பிடுங்கி எடுத்து அவற்றைத் தன் தோளில் சுமந்துகொண்டு, எப்ரோனை நோக்கியுள்ள மலை உச்சிக்குப் போனான்.
4 Later Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, [and started to live with her]. She lived in Sorek Valley [in the Philistia area].
சில நாட்களுக்குபின் அவன் சோராக் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் வசித்த தெலீலாள் என்னும் பெண்ணில் அன்பு வைத்தான்.
5 The Philistine leaders went to her and said, “Find out from Samson what makes him so strong. And find out how we can subdue him and tie him up securely. If you do that, each of us will give you 1,100 pieces of silver.”
பெலிஸ்தியரின் ஆளுநர்கள் அவளிடம் சென்று, “நீ அவனுடன் நயமாகப் பேசி, இப்பெரிய ஆற்றல்மிக்க பெலன் எங்கிருந்து வருகிறது என்ற இரகசியத்தைக் காட்டும்படி அவனை வசப்படுத்த முடியுமா என்று பார். நாங்கள் அவனை மேற்கொண்டு கட்டியடிக்க முடியுமா என்று பார். நாங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஆயிரத்து நூறு சேக்கல் நிறையுள்ள வெள்ளிக்காசை உனக்குத் தருவோம்” என்றார்கள்.
6 So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me what makes you so strong, and tell me how someone can subdue you and tie you up.”
எனவே தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனிடம், “உனது இப்பெரிய வலிமையின் இரகசியத்தையும், எப்படி உன்னைக் கீழ்ப்படுத்திக் கட்டலாம் என்பதையும் எனக்குச் சொல்” எனக் கேட்டாள்.
7 Samson said, “If someone ties me with seven new bowstrings, ones that are not dry yet, I will become as weak as other men.”
அதற்கு சிம்சோன் அவளிடம், “யாராவது என்னை ஏழு காயாத தோல் வார்களினால் கட்டினால், மற்ற மனிதர்களைப்போல நானும் பெலனற்றவனாவேன்” என்று பதிலளித்தான்.
8 So [after Delilah told that to the Philistine leaders], they brought seven new bowstrings to Delilah.
அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தியரின் ஆளுநர்கள் ஏழு காயாத தோல்வார்களை அவளிடம் கொடுத்தார்கள். அவள் அவனை அவற்றால் கட்டினாள்.
9 Then she hid the men in one of the rooms in her house. Then [while Samson was sleeping], she tied him up with the bowstrings. Then she called out, “Samson! The Philistines have come here to capture you!” But Samson snapped the bowstrings as easily as though they were strings that had been singed in a fire. So the Philistines did not find out what made Samson so strong.
அந்த மனிதர்களை அறைக்குள் மறைத்து வைத்துக்கொண்டு, “சிம்சோனே இதோ பெலிஸ்தியர்கள் உன்னைப் பிடிக்க வந்துவிட்டார்கள்” என்று சொன்னாள். அப்பொழுது அவன் தன்னைக் கட்டியிருந்த அந்த தோல்வார்களை நெருப்புப்பட்ட கயிறுகளை அறுப்பதுபோல இலகுவாக அறுத்தான். எனவே அவனுடைய வல்லமை எங்கிருந்து வந்தது என்பதன் இரகசியம் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்படவில்லை.
10 Then Delilah said to Samson, “You have deceived me and lied to me! Now tell me [the truth, ] how someone can tie you up securely.”
அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனிடம், “நீ என்னை ஏமாற்றி விட்டாய். நீ எனக்குப் பொய் சொல்லியிருக்கிறாய். இப்பொழுது நீ எதனால் உன்னைக் கட்டலாம் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்” என்றாள்.
11 Samson replied, “If someone ties me with new ropes, ones that have never been used, I will be as weak as other men.”
அதற்கு அவன், “ஒருபோதும் பயன்படுத்தப்படாத புதிய கயிறுகளால் என்னைப் பாதுகாப்பாகக் கட்டினால், நானும் மற்ற மனிதர்களைப்போல பெலனற்றவனாவேன்” என்றான்.
12 So again, [she told the Philistine leaders, and] they [came and] hid in the room as they had done before. And again, while Samson was sleeping, she took the new ropes and tied him up with them. Then she called out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson snapped the ropes on his arms as easily as if they were threads.
எனவே தெலீலாள் புதியகயிறுகளை எடுத்து அவனைக் கட்டினாள். பின்பு அந்த மனிதர்கள் அறைக்குள் பதுங்கியிருக்கும்போது அவள், “சிம்சோனே பெலிஸ்தியர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள்” என்றாள். அவனோ தன் கையில் கட்டியிருந்த கயிறுகளை ஒரு நூலைப்போல அறுத்துப்போட்டான்.
13 Then Delilah said, “You have deceived me and lied to me [again]! Please tell me how someone can tie you up securely!” Samson replied, “If you weave the seven braids of my hair into the threads you are weaving on the loom, and then fasten those threads with the pin [that makes the threads tight], then I will be as weak as other men.” So again, while Samson was sleeping on her lap, Delilah held the seven braids of his hair, and wove them into the threads on the loom,
அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனிடம், “இதுவரைக்கும் நீ என்னை ஏமாற்றிக்கொண்டும், பொய் சொல்லிக்கொண்டும் இருக்கிறாய். உன்னை எதனால் கட்டமுடியும் என்று இப்பொழுது எனக்குச் சொல்” என்றாள். அதற்கு அவன், “என் தலைமயிரில் உள்ள ஏழு சடைகளை எடுத்து அவற்றை நெசவுத்தறியிலுள்ள நூல் பாவோடு சேர்த்து நெசவுசெய்து ஆணியால் இறுக்கினால், நான் மற்ற மனிதரைப்போல் பெலனற்றவனாவேன்” எனச் சொன்னான். எனவே அவள் அவன் நித்திரையாயிருக்கும்போது, அவன் தலைமயிரில் ஏழு சடைகளை எடுத்து நெசவுத்தறி நூல் பாவோடு நெசவுசெய்து
14 and she tightened them with the pin. Then she called out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” But Samson woke up and pulled out the pin, and pulled his hair from the threads on the loom.
ஆணியால் இறுக்கினாள். திரும்பவும் அவள் அவனை அழைத்து, “சிம்சோனே பெலிஸ்தியர்கள் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள்” என்றாள். உடனே அவன் நித்திரை விட்டெழுந்து பின்னலை ஆணியடிக்கப்பட்டிருந்த நெசவுத்தறியோடு பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டு போனான்.
15 Then Delilah said to him, “How can you say that you love me when you do not tell me the truth about yourself? You have deceived me three times, and you still have not told me what really makes you so strong!”
அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனிடம், “என்னில் முழுநம்பிக்கை இல்லாதபோது, ‘உன்னை நேசிக்கிறேன்’ என்று எப்படிச் சொல்லலாம் என்றாள். உனது வலிமைமிக்க பெலன் எங்கிருந்து வருகின்றதென்ற இரகசியத்தைச் சொல்லாமல் மூன்றாவது முறையாக என்னை ஏமாற்றியிருக்கிறாயே” என்றாள்.
16 Day after day she nagged him like that. He thought he would die from her nagging [IDM].
இவ்வாறு அவள் ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் தொடர்ந்து நச்சரித்துத் தொந்தரவு கொடுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்ததால் அவன் தாங்கமுடியாத அளவு சோர்வடைந்தான்.
17 Finally Samson told her the truth. He said, “I have been set apart for God since the day I was born. And because of that, my hair has never been cut. If my hair were shaved off, my strength would be gone, and I would be as weak as other men.”
எனவே அவன் அவளிடம், “என்னுடைய தலையில் இதுவரை சவரக்கத்தி பட்டதேயில்லை. ஏனெனில் நான் பிறந்தது முதற்கொண்டே இறைவனுக்கென வேறுபிரிக்கப்பட்ட நசரேயனாயிருக்கிறேன்; எனது தலைசவரம் செய்யப்பட்டால் என் பெலன் என்னைவிட்டுப் போய்விடும். நான் மற்ற மனிதரைப்போல பெலனற்ற மனிதனாவேன்” என அவன் எல்லாவற்றையும் அவளிடம் சொன்னான்.
18 Delilah realized that this time he had told her the truth. So she summoned the Philistine leaders again, saying, “Come back one more time, because Samson has really told me everything [about why he is so strong]”. So the Philistine leaders returned and brought to Delilah the money [that they promised to give her].
அவன் எல்லாவற்றையும் சொல்லிவிட்டான் என்பதை தெலீலாள் உணர்ந்தபோது, பெலிஸ்தியரின் ஆளுநர்களிடம், “இன்னும் ஒருமுறை மாத்திரம் வாருங்கள். அவன் எனக்கு எல்லாவற்றையும் சொல்லிவிட்டான்” எனச் சொல்லியனுப்பினாள். எனவே பெலிஸ்தியரை ஆளுபவர்கள் வெள்ளிப்பணத்துடன் திரும்பி வந்தார்கள்.
19 Again she lulled Samson to sleep, with his head in her lap. Then she called one of the Philistine men to come and shave off Samson’s hair. As he did that, Samson began to get weaker. And finally his strength was all gone.
பின்பு அவள் சிம்சோனைத் தனது மடியில் நித்திரை செய்யப்பண்ணி, ஒருவனை அழைத்து சிம்சோனின் தலையிலிருந்த ஏழு சடைகளையும் சவரம்செய்து, அவனைப் பலவீனப்படுத்தத் தொடங்கினாள். அவனுடைய பலம் அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்று.
20 Then [after she tied him up], she called out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” He woke up and thought, “I will do as I did before. I will shake [these ropes] off myself and be free!” But he did not realize that Yahweh had left him.
அப்பொழுது அவள், “சிம்சோனே! பெலிஸ்தியர்கள் உன்னைப் பிடிக்க வந்திருக்கிறார்கள்” என்றாள். உடனே அவன் நித்திரைவிட்டு எழுந்து, “இப்பொழுது நான் முன்புபோல வெளியே போய் என்னை விடுவித்துக்கொள்வேன்” என நினைத்தான். ஆனால் யெகோவா தன்னைவிட்டு அகன்றுவிட்டதை அவன் அறியாதிருந்தான்.
21 So the Philistine men seized him and gouged out his eyes. Then they took him to Gaza. There they put him in prison and bound him with bronze chains. They made him [turn a millstone to] grind grain [every day].
அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தியர் வந்து அவனைப் பிடித்து, அவனுடைய இரண்டு கண்களையும் தோண்டியெடுத்தபின் அவனை காசாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள். அங்கே அவனை வெண்கலச் சங்கிலியினால் கட்டி, சிறையில் மாவரைக்கும்படி வைத்தார்கள்.
22 But his hair started to grow again.
ஆனால் சவரம் செய்தபின் அவனுடைய தலையில் திரும்பவும் மயிர் முளைக்கத் தொடங்கிற்று.
23 [Several months later] the Philistine leaders celebrated a big festival. During the festival they offered sacrifices to their god Dagon. They praised him, saying, “Our god has enabled us to defeat our great enemy Samson!”
பெலிஸ்தியரின் ஆளுநர்கள் தங்களுடைய தெய்வமான தாகோனுக்கு ஒரு பெரிய பலியைச் செலுத்தவும் விழாக்கொண்டாடவும் ஒன்றுகூடினார்கள். அவர்கள், “எங்கள் தெய்வம் எங்கள் பகைவனான சிம்சோனை எங்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருக்கிறது” என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
24 And when the other people saw Samson, they also praised their god Dagon, saying, “Samson ruined our crops and killed many of our people, but our god has put our enemy into our hands. Our god helped us to capture the one who has killed so many of us!”
அந்த மக்கள் சிம்சோனைக் கண்டதும், தங்கள் தெய்வத்தைப் புகழ்ந்து சொன்னதாவது: “நமது தெய்வம் எங்கள் பகைவனை நம் கையில் ஒப்படைத்திருக்கிறது; நம்முடைய நாட்டைப் பாழாக்கி, நம்மில் அநேகரை இவன் கொன்றொழித்தானே!”
25 By that time the people were half-drunk. They shouted, “Bring Samson out of the prison! Bring him here so that he can entertain us!” So they brought Samson from the prison and made fun of him. Then they made him stand in the center of the temple. They made him stand between the two pillars that held up the roof.
இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் அதிக உற்சாகத்துடன் இருக்கும்போது, “எங்களை மகிழ்விக்க சிம்சோனை வெளியே கொண்டுவாருங்கள்” என்று சத்தமிட்டார்கள். எனவே சிம்சோனைச் சிறையிலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். அவன் அவர்களுக்குச் சாகசங்கள் செய்துகாட்டினான். அவர்கள் அவனைத் தூண்களுக்கிடையே நிறுத்தினார்கள்.
26 Samson said to the servant who was leading him by his hand, “Place my hands against the two pillars. I want to rest against them.”
அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் தனது கையைப் பிடித்துநின்ற பணியாளிடம், “கோயிலைத் தாங்கிநிற்கும் தூண்களைத் தடவிப்பார்க்கும்படி அங்கே என்னைக்கொண்டு போ. நான் அவற்றில் சாய்ந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும்” என்றான்.
27 At that time the temple was full of men and women. All the Philistine leaders were also there. And there were about 3,000 people on the roof, watching Samson and making fun of him.
இப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்திய ஆண்களினாலும், பெண்களினாலும் அந்த கோயில் நிறைந்திருந்தது. பெலிஸ்திய ஆளுநர்கள் எல்லோரும் அங்கிருந்தார்கள். மேல்மாடத்தின் மேலும் கிட்டத்தட்ட மூவாயிரம் ஆண்களும், பெண்களும் சிம்சோனின் சாகசங்களைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
28 Then Samson prayed, saying, “Yahweh, my Lord, think about me again! Please give me strength one more time, so that I may get revenge on the Philistines for gouging out my eyes!”
அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் யெகோவாவிடம், “என்னை ஆட்சிசெய்கிற யெகோவாவாகிய ஆண்டவரே! என்னை நினைவுகூரும்; என் இறைவனே இன்னும் ஒருமுறை மட்டும் என்னைப் பலப்படுத்தும். எனது இரு கண்களையும் எடுத்துப்போட்ட பெலிஸ்தியரை ஒரேயடியில் பழிவாங்கவிடும்” என வேண்டுதல் செய்தான்.
29 Then Samson put his hands on the two center pillars of the temple. He put his right hand on one pillar and his left hand on the other pillar.
பின்பு சிம்சோன் கோவிலைத் தாங்கிநின்ற நடுத்தூண்கள் இரண்டையும் எட்டிப்பிடித்தான். அவற்றில் ஒன்றைத் தனது வலதுகையாலும், மற்றொன்றை தனது இடதுகையாலும் இறுக்கிப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டான்.
30 Then he shouted [to God], “Let me die with the Philistines!”, and he pushed with all his strength. [The pillars collapsed], and the temple crashed down on the Philistine leaders and all the other Philistine people, [and they all died]. So Samson killed more people when he died than he had killed all during his life.
பின் சிம்சோன், “நான் சாகும்போது பெலிஸ்தியருடனே சாகவேண்டும்” என்று சொல்லி, தனது முழு பெலனையும் சேர்த்துத் தூண்களைத் தள்ளினான். அப்பொழுது ஆளுநர்கள்மேலும், கூடியிருந்த எல்லா மக்கள்மேலும் கோயில் இடிந்து விழுந்தது. இவ்வாறாக அவன் உயிருடன் இருக்கும்போது கொன்றவர்களைவிட, அவன் இறந்தபோது அநேகரைக் கொன்றான்.
31 Later his brothers and their relatives went down [from Zorah to Gaza] to get his body. They took it back home and buried it between Zorah and Eshtaol, at the place where Samson’s father Manoah was buried. Samson had been Israel’s leader for 20 years.
அப்பொழுது சிம்சோனின் சகோதரர்களும், அவன் தகப்பனின் முழுக் குடும்பத்தவர்களும் வந்து அவனுடைய உடலை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போனார்கள். அவர்கள் அவனை சோராவுக்கும் எஸ்தாவோலுக்கும் இடையிலுள்ள அவனுடைய தகப்பன் மனோவாவின் கல்லறையில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். அவன் இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு இருபது வருடங்கள் நீதிபதியாய் இருந்தான்.
