Jeremiah 37

1 After Jehoiakim died, [his son Jehoiachin became king for only three months, after which] King Josiah’s son Zedekiah became the King of Judah. Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon, appointed him to be the new king.

Ug si Sedechias ang anak nga lalake ni Josias naghari puli kang Conias ang anak nga lalake ni Joacim, nga maoy gibuhat nga hari sa yuta sa Juda ni Nabucodonosor nga hari sa Babilonia.

2 But King Zedekiah and his palace officials and the other people in the land paid no attention to the messages that Yahweh gave me.

Apan bisan, siya ni ang iyang mga sulogoon, ni ang katawohan sa yuta, nagpatalinghug sa mga pulong ni Jehova, nga iyang gipamulong pinaagi kang Jeremias nga manalagna.

3 However, [one day] King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the priest, who was the son of Maaseiah, to me. They requested me to pray to Yahweh our God for our [nation].

Ug si Sedechias nga hari nagpadala kang Jucal ang anak nga lalake ni Selemias, ug kang Sephanias ang anak nga lalake ni Maasias nga sacerdote ngadto kang manalagna Jeremias, sa pag-ingon: Pag-ampo karom karon kang Jehova nga atong Dios alang kanamo.

4 At that time I had not yet been put in prison, so I could come and go wherever and whenever I wanted to, [without being hindered].

Karon si Jeremias misulod ug migula sa taliwala sa katawohan: kay siya wala man ibutang nila sa bilanggoan.

5 [At that time], the army of [Hophra], the King of Egypt, came [to the southern border of Judah]. When the army of Babylonia heard about that, they stopped surrounding Jerusalem and left there [to fight against the army from Egypt].

Unya ang kasundalohan ni Faraon minggula gikan sa Egipto; ug sa diha nga ang mga Caldeahanon nga nanaglibut sa Jerusalem nakadungog ug mga balita mahitungod kanila, sila mingbiya sa Jerusalem.

6 Then Yahweh gave this message to me:

Nan miabut ang pulong ni Jehova kang manalagna Jeremias, nga nagaingon:

7 “[I], Yahweh, the God whom [you] Israelis [say you belong to], say this: ‘The King of Judah has sent [messengers] to you to ask me [what is going to happen]. Tell the king that even though the army of the King of Egypt came to help him, they are about to return to Egypt.

Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova, ang Dios sa Israel: Sa ingon niana moingon ka sa hari sa Juda, nga nagpadala kanimo dinhi kanako sa pagpangutana kanako: Ania karon, ang kasundalohan ni Faraon nga ming-anhi sa pagtabang kaninyo, mobalik ngadto sa Egipto sa ilang kaugalingon yuta.

8 Then the army of Babylonia will return here and capture this city and burn everything in it.’

Ug ang mga Caldeahanon moanhi pag-usab, ug makig-away batok niining ciudara; ug makuha nila kini, ug sunogon kini sa kalayo.

9 [So], this is what I say [to you Israelis]: ‘You should not deceive yourselves, thinking that the army from Babylonia has gone and will not return. That is not true.

Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Ayaw kamo paglimbong sa inyong mga kaugalingon, nga magaingon: Ang mga Caldeahanon sa pagkatinuod motalikod kanato: kay sila dili motalikod.

10 And even if your soldiers could destroy almost all of the soldiers from Babylonia who are attacking you, and allow only a few of them who were wounded to remain alive in their tents, they would come out [of their tents] and burn this city completely!”’”

Kay bisan kamo nanagpakadaug sa tibook nga kasundalohan sa mga Caldeahanon nga nakig-away batok kaninyo, ug dihay nahabilin lamang nga mga samdan nga tawo bisan pa niana mamangon sila ang tagsatagsa ka tawo mobangon sulod sa iyang balong-balong, ug sunogon kining ciudara sa kalayo.

11 When the army from Babylonia left Jerusalem because the army from Egypt was approaching,

Ug nahitabo, nga sa pagkabungkag sa kasundalohan sa mga Caldeahanon nga diha sa Jerusalem tungod sa kalisang sa kasundalohan ni Faraon.

12 I started to leave the city. I intended to go to the area [where the descendants of] Benjamin live, in order to take possession of my share of the property from my family.

Unya si Jeremias migula sa Jerusalem sa pag-adto sa yuta ni Benjamin aron sa pagdawat sa iyang bahin didto, sa taliwala sa katawohan.

13 But as I was walking out the Benjamin Gate, a guard seized me and said, “You are deserting [us and going] to [the soldiers from] Babylonia!” The man who seized me was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah and grandson of Hananiah.

Ug sa diha siya sa ganghaan ni Benjamin, ang usa ka capitan sa balangay didto man, kansang ngalan mao si Irias, ang anak nga lalake ni Selemias, ang anak nga lalake ni Hananias; ug iyang gidakup si Jeremias nga manalagna, nga nagaingon: Ikaw nahulog ngadto sa mga Caldeahanon.

14 But I [protested and] said, “That is not true! I was not intending to do that!” But Irijah would not pay attention to what I said. He took me to the [king’s] officials.

Unya si Jeremias miingon: Bakak kana; ako wala mahulog ngadto sa mga Caldeahanon. Apan siya wala magpatalinghug kaniya: busa si Irias midakup kang Jeremias ug siya gidala niya ngadto sa mga principe.

15 They were very angry with me. They [commanded the guards to] beat me and [then to] put me in the house where Jonathan the king’s secretary stayed. They had changed Jonathan’s house to make it become a prison.

Ug ang mga principe nangasuko kang Jeremias, ug gisamaran siya ug gibutang siya sa bilanggoan sa balay ni Jonathan nga escriba; kay ilang gibuhat kana nga bilanggoan.

16 They put me in a dungeon/cell in that prison, and I remained there for several days.

Sa pagsulod ni Jeremias sa bilanggoan, ug ngadto sa bartolina, ug si Jeremias nagpabilin didto sa daghang mga adlaw;

17 Then King Zedekiah secretly sent a servant to me, who took me to the palace. There the king asked me, “Do you have any messages from Yahweh?” I replied, “Yes, [the message is that] you will be handed over to the king of Babylon.”

Unya si Sedechias ang hari nagpasugo ug nagpakuha kaniya: ug ang hari nangutana kaniya sa tago sulod sa iyang balay, ug miingon: Aduna bay pulong nga gikan kang Jehova? Ug si Jeremias miingon: Aduna man. Miingon siya usab: Ikaw igatugyan ngadto sa kamot sa hari sa Babilonia.

18 Then I asked the king, “What crime have I committed [RHQ] against you or against your officials or against the Israeli people, with the result that you have [commanded that] I be put in a prison?

Labut pa si Jeremias miingon kang Sedechias nga hari: Diin man ako makasala batok kanimo, kun batok sa imong mga sulogoon, kun batok niining katawohan, nga gibilanggo man ako ninyo?

19 Your prophets predicted that the army of the king of Babylon would not attack you or this land. Why were [RHQ] [their messages] not fulfilled?

Hain na man karon ang imong mga manalagna nga nanagna kanimo, nga nagaingon: Ang hari sa Babilonia dili gayud moanhi batok kanimo, ni batok niining yutaa?

20 Your majesty, I plead with you to listen to me. Do not send me back to the dungeon/cell in the house of Jonathan your secretary, because [if you do that, ] I will die there.”

Ug pamati karon, gipangamuyo ko kanimo, Oh ginoo ko nga hari: tugoti ang akong pagpangayo, gipangamuyo ko kanimo, nga madawat sa imong atubangan; aron dili mo ako pabalikon sa balay ni Jonathan nga escriba, aron ako dili mamatay didto.

21 So King Zedekiah commanded that [I not be sent back to the prison cell. Instead, ] I was allowed to be watched by the guards in the courtyard [of the palace]. [The king] also [commanded that they should] bring me a loaf of fresh bread every day, until there was no bread left in the city. So [they put me] in that courtyard and I remained there.

Unya si Sedechias nga hari nagsugo, ug ilang gibutang si Jeremias sa sawang sa magbalantay sa bilanggoan; ug sila naghatag kaniya ug usa ka tipak nga tinapay adlaw-adlaw nga gikan sa mga magbubuhat sa tinapay sa dalan, hangtud nga ang tanang tinapay sa ciudad nahurot. Busa si Jeremias nagpabilin sa sawang sa magbalantay sa bilanggoan.
