Jeremiah 19
1 This is another message that Yahweh gave [to me]: “Go and buy a clay jar from a man who makes them. Then take with you some of the elders of the people and leaders of the priests.
সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বললেন, “তুমি যাও, গিয়ে কুমোরের কাছ থেকে একটি মাটির পাত্র কেনো। তুমি লোকদের মধ্যে থেকে কয়েকজন প্রাচীন ও যাজকদের তোমার সঙ্গে নিয়ো।
2 Go out [of the city] past the Gate of Broken Pots, to the place [overlooking the dump for broken pottery in] the Ben-Hinnom Valley. Then give them a message.
তারপর তোমরা খোলামকুচি ফটকের প্রবেশদুয়ারের কাছে স্থিত বিন-হিন্নোমের উপত্যকায় যাও। সেখানে আমি তোমাকে যে কথা বলি, তা ঘোষণা কোরো।
3 Say to them, ‘[This message is for] you kings of Judah and [other] people of Jerusalem. Listen to what Yahweh is saying! The Commander of the armies of angels says that he will cause there to be a terrible disaster in [Jerusalem]. Those who hear about it will be stunned/shocked [IDM].
তুমি তাদের বোলো, ‘হে যিহূদার রাজা ও জেরুশালেমের অধিবাসীরা, তোমরা সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শোনো। বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর, একথা বলেন: তোমরা শোনো, আমি এই স্থানের উপরে এমন এক বিপর্যয় নিয়ে আসব, তা যে কেউ শুনবে, তার কান শিউরে উঠবে।
4 [That will happen] because [you Israeli] people have stopped worshiping me, and have caused this place to be a place where [you worship] foreign gods. You burn sacrifices to gods that neither you nor your ancestors nor [even] the kings of Judah ever heard about. And you have filled this place with the blood of innocent people [whom you have killed].
কারণ তারা আমাকে পরিত্যাগ করেছে এবং এই স্থানকে বিজাতীয় দেবদেবীর আবাসে পরিণত করেছে। তারা এমন সব দেবতার উদ্দেশ্যে ধূপদাহ করেছে, যার কথা তারা নিজেরা, তাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরা, না তো যিহূদার রাজারা কখনও জানত। আবার তারা এই স্থানকে নির্দোষের রক্তে পরিপূর্ণ করেছে।
5 You have built shrines to honor [your god] Baal, and at those shrines you have [killed] your own children and offered them to be sacrifices to Baal. I never commanded you to do that, I never spoke about doing that, I never even thought about anyone doing that.
তারা বায়াল-দেবতার উদ্দেশ্যে পূজা করার উঁচু স্থানগুলি তৈরি করেছে, যেন বায়াল-দেবতার নৈবেদ্যর জন্য নিজের নিজের সন্তানদের আগুনে দগ্ধ করে। এ এমন এক বিষয়, যা আমি তাদের আদেশ দিইনি বা উল্লেখ করিনি, কিংবা তা কখনও আমার মনে উদয় হয়নি।
6 So, beware, [because I, ] Yahweh, say that there will be a time when this garbage dump will no longer be called Topheth or Ben-Hinnom Valley; it will be called Slaughter Valley.
তাই সদাপ্রভু বলেন, সাবধান হও, সময় আসন্ন, যখন লোকেরা এই স্থানকে আর তোফৎ বা বিন-হিন্নোমের উপত্যকা বলবে না, কিন্তু বলবে, হত্যালীলার উপত্যকা।
7 In this place I will ruin the plans of [you people who live in] Jerusalem and in [other places in] Judah. I will allow your enemies who want to kill you to kill [many of] you with their swords. [Then] I will allow your corpses to remain on the ground to be food for vultures and wild animals.
“‘এই স্থানে, আমি যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের পরিকল্পনাকে ধ্বংস করব। যারা তাদের প্রাণ নিতে চায়, আমি তাদের সেইসব শত্রুর হাতে তরোয়ালের আঘাতে তাদের প্রাণনাশ করব। আমি তাদের মৃতদেহ আকাশের পাখিদের ও ভূমির পশুদের আহার হিসেবে দেব।
8 I will [completely destroy] Jerusalem and cause it to become a heap of ruins that people will despise. All the people who pass by will be appalled, and they will be shocked when they see that the city has been destroyed.
আমি এই নগরকে বিধ্বস্ত করব এবং এই স্থান উপহাসের আস্পদস্বরূপ হবে। যে কেউ এই স্থানের পাশ দিয়ে যাবে, সে বিস্ময়ে এর সব যন্ত্রণা দেখে নিন্দা করবে।
9 I will enable your enemies who want to kill you to surround the city for a long time. [Then the food will be all gone, and you people will be extremely hungry, with the result that] you people in the city will eat the flesh of your own children and your neighbors’ children.’
যারা তাদের প্রাণ নিতে চায়, তারা যখন এই নগর অবরোধ করে তাদের চাপ বৃদ্ধি করবে, তখন আমি তাদের নিজেদেরই পুত্রকন্যাদের মাংস তাদের খেতে বাধ্য করব। তারা তখন পরস্পর নিজেদেরই মাংস খাবে।’
10 [Jeremiah, after you tell that to them], while the people who are with you are watching, smash the jar [that you brought].
“তারপর, তোমার সঙ্গীদের চোখের সামনেই তুমি সেই পাত্রটি ভেঙে ফেলবে।
11 Then say to them, ‘This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “Just like this jar has been smashed and cannot be repaired, I will smash this city of Jerusalem and other places in Judah. You will bury some of your corpses here in this dump, until there is no more space to bury any more corpses.
তুমি তাদের বলবে, ‘বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন: কুমোরের এই পাত্রটি যেমন ভেঙে ফেলা হয়েছে, আমি তেমনই এই জাতি ও এই নগরকে ভেঙে চুরমার করব, তা আর কখনও মেরামত করা যাবে না। তারা তোফতে মৃত লোকেদের কবর দেবে, যে পর্যন্ত সেখানে আর কোনো স্থান না থাকে।
12 That is what I will do to this city and to you people who live here. I will cause this city to be desecrated, like [King Josiah caused Topheth to be] a place that was unfit for people to worship me there.
এই স্থান ও এখানকার লোকেদের প্রতি আমি এরকমই করব, সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন। আমি এই নগরকে তোফতের মতো করব।
13 The houses in Jerusalem and the palaces of the kings of Judah will be desecrated like this place will be. All the houses where you burned incense on the rooftops to honor the stars [that you worshiped], and where you poured out wine [to be an offering] to your gods, will become (desecrated/unacceptable places for people to worship me).”’”
জেরুশালেমের সমস্ত ঘরবাড়ি এবং যিহূদার রাজাদের প্রাসাদগুলি আমি এই স্থান, তোফতের মতো অশুচি করব, সেইসব গৃহকে করব যাদের ছাদে তারা নক্ষত্রবাহিনীর উদ্দেশে ধূপদাহ ও অন্যান্য দেবদেবীর উদ্দেশ্যে পেয়-নৈবেদ্য উৎসর্গ করেছিল।’”
14 Then I returned from the garbage dump where Yahweh had sent me to tell them that message. Then I stood in the courtyard of Yahweh’s temple and said this to all the people [who were there]:
সদাপ্রভু যেখানে ভাববাণী বলার জন্য যিরমিয়কে পাঠিয়েছিলেন, সেই তোফৎ থেকে তিনি ফিরে এলেন এবং সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের উঠানে দাঁড়িয়ে সব লোককে বললেন,
15 “This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: ‘I will cause there to be a disaster in this city and in the villages around it like I promised, because you people have stubbornly [IDM] refused to pay attention to what I said to you.’”
“বাহিনীগণের সদাপ্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর এই কথা বলেন: ‘শোনো, আমি এই নগর ও এর চারপাশে স্থিত গ্রামগুলির উপরে সেই সমস্ত বিপর্যয় নিয়ে আসব, যা আমি তাদের বিরুদ্ধে ঘোষণা করেছিলাম, কারণ তারা ছিল একগুঁয়ে এবং তারা আমার কোনো কথা শুনতে চায়নি।’”
