Jeremiah 17
1 [Yahweh said, “It is as though a list of] the sins [committed by the people of] Judah is engraved with an iron chisel, or engraved using the fine point of a very hard stone, on the altars [where they worship idols]. And [it is as though] this list is engraved on their inner beings!
Tội của Giu-đa đã chép bằng bút sắt, bằng dùi kim cương; đã chạm trên bảng trong lòng chúng nó, và trên sừng những bàn thờ các ngươi.
2 [Even] their children are happy to go to the altars [to worship their gods], and to the poles [that represent the goddess] Asherah [at which their parents worshiped], shrines that are underneath all the big trees and on [all] the high hills.
Con cái chúng nó nhớ lại bàn thờ và hình tượng chúng nó đã lập lên gần các cây xanh và trên gò cao.
3 So, I will allow your enemies to capture [Zion], your holy hill, and all your wealth and your (treasures/valuable things), and [even] the shrines on all those hills, because of the sins that you people have committed throughout your land.
Hỡi hòn núi ta trong đồng, ta sẽ phó của cải, châu báu và các nơi cao ngươi làm của cướp; vì cớ tội lỗi ngươi đã phạm trên khắp bờ cõi mình.
4 The [wonderful] land that I gave to you will no longer belong to you. I will tell your enemies to take you to a land that you do not know about, and you will become their slaves. [I will do that] because I am extremely angry [with you]; my being angry is [like] a fire that will burn forever.”
Ngươi sẽ bỏ mất cơ nghiệp ta đã ban cho, ấy là tự ngươi làm lấy; ta sẽ bắt ngươi phục kẻ thù ngươi trong một xứ mà ngươi chưa từng biết; vì ngươi đã nhen lửa giận ta lên, thì nó cháy hoài hoài.
5 This is [also] what Yahweh says: “[I] will curse/condemn those who trust in human beings [to help them], those who rely on their own strength and turn away from me.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Đáng rủa thay là kẻ nhờ cậy loài người, lấy loài xác thịt làm cánh tay, lòng lìa khỏi Đức Giê-hô-va.
6 They are like [dry] bushes in the desert, they are people who will not experience any good things. Those people will live in the barren desert in a salty area, where nothing grows.
Nó sẽ như thạch thảo trong sa mạc, không thấy phước đến, nhưng ở trong nơi đồng vắng khô khan, trên đất mặn không dân ở.
7 But I am pleased with those who trust in [me], Yahweh, and who confidently expect [me to take care of them].
Đáng chúc phước thay là kẻ nhờ cậy Đức Giê-hô-va, và lấy Đức Giê-hô-va làm sự trông cậy mình.
8 Those people are like [SIM] fruit trees that have been planted along a riverbank, trees that have roots that go down into the [wet ground beside] the water. They are trees whose leaves remain green when it becomes hot, trees that continue to bear fruit when there are many months in which there is no rain.
Nó cũng như cây trồng nơi bờ suối, đâm rễ theo dòng nước chảy; ngộ khi trời nắng, chẳng hề sợ hãi, mà lá cứ xanh tươi. Gặp năm hạn hán cũng chẳng lo gì, mà cứ ra trái không dứt.
9 Human minds are extremely corrupt/deceitful, and you cannot change that. It is also completely impossible [RHQ] for anyone to understand that.
Lòng người ta là dối trá hơn mọi vật, và rất là xấu xa: ai có thể biết được?
10 But I, Yahweh, search what is in everyone’s inner being, and I examine what they are thinking. I will give all people rewards, what they deserve for what they have done.”
Ta, Đức Giê-hô-va, dò xét trong trí, thử nghiệm trong lòng, báo cho mỗi người tùy đường họ đi, tùy kết quả của việc họ làm.
11 [I, Jeremiah, agree, because I know that] people who become rich by doing things that are unjust are like birds that hatch eggs that they (did not lay/stole from another nest). So, when those people have lived only half of the years [that they expect to live], their wealth will disappear. Then [other people will realize that] those rich people have been foolish.
Kẻ nào được giàu có chẳng theo sự công bình, cũng như chim đa đa ấp trứng mà mình chẳng đẻ ra; đến nửa đời người, nó phải mất hết, cuối cùng nó ra là ngu dại.
12 Yahweh, your temple is [like] a glorious throne that is still on a high hill.
Ngôi vinh hiển được lập lên từ ban đầu, ấy là nơi thánh của dân chúng ta!
13 You are the one whom [we] Israeli people confidently expect [to bless us], and all those who turn away from you will be disgraced. Their names will be written [only] in the dust, [and will soon disappear], because they have abandoned you, [who are like] [MET] a fountain where people obtain fresh water.
Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, là sự trông cậy của Y-sơ-ra-ên, những kẻ nào bỏ Ngài đều sẽ bị xấu hổ! Những kẻ lìa khỏi ta sẽ bị ghi trên đất, vì họ đã bỏ suối nước sống, tức là Đức Giê-hô-va.
14 Yahweh, [please] heal me, because [if you heal me], I will truly be healed. [If you] rescue me, I will truly be safe, because you are the [only] one whom I praise.
Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va! xin Ngài chữa tôi thì tôi sẽ được lành; xin Ngài cứu tôi thì tôi sẽ được rỗi: vì Ngài là Đấng mà tôi ngợi khen.
15 People often ridicule me and say, “You tell us messages that you say came from Yahweh, but (why have the things that you predicted not happened?/those predictions have not come true!)” [RHQ]
Nầy là lời người ta bảo tôi: Lời phán của Đức Giê-hô-va ở đâu? Rày hãy ứng nghiệm!
16 Yahweh, you [appointed me to take care of your people like] a shepherd [takes care of his sheep] [MET]; I have not abandoned that work, and you know that I have not [previously] wanted this time of disaster [to come to people who ridicule me]. And you know everything that I have said [MTY] [to your people].
Còn tôi, tôi chẳng vội vàng bỏ chức chăn dân mà không theo Ngài. Tôi cũng không tự ý muốn mình trông đến ngày khốn nạn, Ngài vẫn biết vậy. Lời miệng tôi nói ra điều ở trước mặt Ngài.
17 Do not cause me to be terrified! When disasters come/occur, you are the one to whom I will go to be safe.
Ngài là nơi ẩn náu của tôi trong ngày hoạn nạn, xin chớ làm cớ cho tôi kinh khiếp!
18 [So now], cause those who (persecute me/cause me to suffer) to be ashamed and dismayed, but do not [do things to me that will] cause me to be ashamed and dismayed. Cause them to be terrified! Do to them many things that will completely destroy them!
Xin Ngài làm cho những kẻ bắt bớ tôi bị xấu hổ, mà chính tôi đừng bị xấu hổ; cho họ kinh hoàng, mà chính tôi đừng kinh hoàng! Xin cho ngày hoạn nạn lâm trên họ, và hủy hoại gấp hai!
19 This is what Yahweh said to me: “Go to the city gates in Jerusalem. [First] go to the gate where the kings of Judah go in and out of the city, and [then] go to each of the [other] gates.
Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng tôi rằng: Hãy đi, đứng tại cửa của con cái dân sự, tức là cửa các vua Giu-đa thường ra vào, và tại hết thảy các cửa thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
20 Say to the people [at each gate], ‘You kings of Judah and everyone [else] who is living in Jerusalem and all [you other people of] Judah who enter these gates, listen to this message from Yahweh!
Ngươi khá nói rằng: Hỡi các vua nước Giu-đa, cùng cả dân Giu-đa, và hết thảy dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem, là kẻ do các cửa nầy qua lại, hãy nghe lời của Đức Giê-hô-va.
21 He says, “Listen to this warning carefully! [Stop doing work] on (Sabbath/our rest) days! Stop carrying loads through these gates [on those days]!
Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Các ngươi hãy giữ, chớ khiêng gánh trong ngày sa-bát; chớ khiêng gánh vào cửa thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
22 Do not carry loads out of your houses or do any [other] work on Sabbath days! Instead, cause Sabbath days to be (holy/set apart for me). I commanded your ancestors to do that,
Trong ngày sa-bát, đừng khiêng gánh ra khỏi nhà các ngươi, cũng đừng làm việc chi hết; nhưng hãy biệt riêng ngày sa-bát ra thánh, như ta đã phán dặn tổ phụ các ngươi.
23 but they did not listen to me or obey me. When I did things to correct them, they stubbornly [IDM] refused to pay attention to what I said or to accept it.
Nhưng mà, họ chẳng nghe, chẳng lắng tai; cứng cổ để chẳng nghe ta và chẳng chịu dạy.
24 But I say that if you obey me, and if you do not carry loads through these gates [on Sabbath days] or do any other work on Sabbath days, and if you dedicate the Sabbath days to me,
Đức Giê-hô-va phán: Nếu các ngươi chăm chỉ nghe ta, nếu các ngươi không khiêng gánh vào cửa thành ấy trong ngày sa-bát, nếu các ngươi biệt riêng ngày sa-bát ra thánh và không làm việc gì trong ngày đó,
25 kings of Judah [MTY] and [their] officials will [continue to] go in and out of these gates. There will [always] be someone who is a descendant of [MTY] [King] David ruling [here] [MTY] in Jerusalem. Kings and their officials will go in and out of these gates, riding in chariots and on horses, and there will be people living in this city forever.
thì các vua và các quan trưởng ngồi trên ngai Đa-vít sẽ cỡi xe cỡi ngựa, cùng với các quan trưởng người Giu-đa, và dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem do cửa thành ấy mà vào; và thành ấy sẽ còn đời đời.
26 And people will come [to Jerusalem] bringing offerings to be completely burned [on the altar] and [other] offerings. They will bring to the temple grain offerings and incense and offerings to thank [me]. People will bring those offerings from the towns in Judah and the villages near Jerusalem and from the land [where the tribe] of Benjamin [lives] and from the western foothills and from the desert in the south.
Người ta sẽ đến từ các thành của Giu-đa và từ các nơi chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem, từ xứ Bên-gia-min, từ đất đồng bằng, đất núi, và phương Nam, đặng đem của lễ thiêu và các của lễ, của lễ chay cùng nhũ hương, và đem của lễ thù ân đến nhà Đức Giê-hô-va.
27 But if you do not pay attention to what I say, and if you refuse to dedicate the Sabbath days to me, and if you [continue to] carry loads through these gates into the city on Sabbath days, I will burn these gates completely. The fire will spread to the palaces, and no one will be able to put out that fire.”’”
Nhưng nếu các ngươi không nghe ta để biệt riêng ngày sa-bát ra thánh, mà trong ngày sa-bát khiêng gánh và vào cửa thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, thì ta sẽ đặt lửa nơi cửa thành, lửa ấy sẽ thiêu hủy cung điện của Giê-ru-sa-lem, không bao giờ tắt.
