Jeremiah 10

1 You people of Israel, listen to what Yahweh says:

Inyong dinggin ang salita na sinasalita ng Panginoon sa inyo, Oh sangbahayan ni Israel.

2 “Do not act like the people of [other] nations act, and do not be terrified by strange/unusual things that you see in the sky, even though they cause the [people of other] nations to be terrified.

Ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon, Huwag kayong matuto ng lakad ng mga bansa, at huwag kayong manganglupaypay sa mga tanda ng langit; sapagka't ang mga bansa ay nanganglulupaypay sa mga yaon.

3 The customs of the people [of other nations] are worthless. [For example], they cut down a tree in the forest. Then a [skilled] worker/craftsman [cuts a section of it and] uses his chisel to carve an idol from that section.

Sapagka't ang mga kaugalian ng mga bayan ay walang kabuluhan: sapagka't may pumuputol ng punong kahoy sa gubat, na siyang gawa ng mga kamay ng manggagawa sa pamamagitan ng palakol.

4 [Then] people decorate the idol with silver and gold. [Then] they fasten it securely with nails in order that it will not topple/fall over.

Kanilang ginagayakan ng pilak at ng ginto; kanilang ikinakapit ng mga pako at ng mga pamukpok, upang huwag makilos.

5 [Then] the idol [stands there] like [SIM] a scarecrow in a field of cucumbers/melons! It cannot speak, and people must carry it, because it cannot walk. Do not be afraid of idols, because they cannot harm [anyone], and they cannot do [anything] good [to help anyone].”

Sila'y gaya ng puno ng palma, na binilog, at hindi nagsasalita: kinakailangang pasanin, sapagka't hindi makalakad. Huwag ninyong katakutan ang mga yaon, sapagka't hindi makagagawa ng kasamaan, ni wala ring magagawang mabuti.

6 Yahweh, there is no one like you. You [MTY] are great, and you are very powerful.

Walang gaya mo, Oh Panginoon; ikaw ay dakila, at ang iyong pangalan ay dakila sa kapangyarihan.

7 You are the king of all the nations! Everyone should [RHQ] revere you, because that is what you deserve. Among all the wise people on the earth and in all the kingdoms where they live, (there is no one like you./who can compare with you?)

Sinong hindi matatakot sa iyo, Oh Hari ng mga bansa? sapagka't sa iyo nauukol; palibhasa'y sa gitna ng lahat ng pantas sa mga bansa, at sa lahat nilang kaharian, ay walang gaya mo.

8 Those people who [think that they are] very wise [IRO] are stupid and foolish [DOU]. The idols that they worship are only made of wood! Those idols certainly cannot teach them anything.

Kundi sila'y pawang tampalasan at hangal turo ng mga dios-diosan, yao'y kahoy lamang.

9 People hammer into thin sheets silver from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz, and then they give those sheets of silver and gold to skilled workers/craftsmen to cover the idols. Then they put on those idols expensive purple robes that are made by skilled workers.

May pilak na pinukpok na dinala rito mula sa Tarsis, at ginto mula sa Uphaz, na gawa ng manggagawa at ng mga kamay ng panday; azul at kulay ube ang kanilang damit; gawang lahat ng mga bihasang manggagawa.

10 But Yahweh is the [only] true God; he is the all-powerful God, the king [who rules] forever. When he is angry, [all] the earth shakes/quakes; and [the people of] the nations cannot endure [what he does] when he is angry [with them].

Nguni't ang Panginoon ay tunay na Dios; siya ang buhay na Dios, at walang hanggang Hari: sa kaniyang poot ay nayayanig ang lupa, at hindi matatagalan ng mga bansa ang kaniyang galit.

11 [You Israeli people], tell this to those people: “Those idols did not make the sky and the earth, and they will disappear from the earth.”

Ganito ang inyong sasabihin sa kanila, Ang mga dios na hindi gumawa ng langit at ng lupa, ang mga ito ang mangalilipol sa lupa, at sa silong ng langit.

12 But [Yahweh] made the earth by his power; he established it [firmly] by his wisdom and stretched out the sky by his understanding.

Kaniyang ginawa ang lupa sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang kapangyarihan, kaniyang itinatag ang sanglibutan sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang karunungan, at kaniyang iniladlad ang langit sa pamamagitan ng kaniyang pagkaunawa:

13 When he speaks [loudly], there is thunder in the sky; he causes clouds to form over every part of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and releases the winds from his storehouses.

Pagka siya'y naguutos, may hugong ng tubig sa langit, at kaniyang pinaiilanglang ang mga singaw mula sa mga dulo ng lupa; siya'y nagpapakidlat para sa ulan, at naglalabas ng hangin mula sa mga kinalalagyan.

14 People are senseless and know very little [HYP]; those who make idols are always disappointed because their idols do nothing for them. The images/statues that they make are not real [gods]; they are lifeless.

Bawa't tao ay naging tampalasan at walang kaalaman; bawa't panday ay nalagay sa kahihiyan sa kaniyang larawang inanyuan; sapagka't ang kaniyang larawang binubo ay kabulaanan, at hindi humihinga ang mga yaon.

15 Idols are worthless; they deserve to be ridiculed; there will be a time when they [all] will be destroyed.

Sila'y walang kabuluhan, gawang karayaan: sa panahon ng pagdalaw sa mga yaon sila ay mangalilipol.

16 But the God whom we Israelis worship is not like those idols; he is the one who created everything [that exists]; we, the tribe/people of Israel, belong to him; he is the Commander of the armies of angels.

Ang bahagi ng Jacob ay hindi gaya ng mga ito; sapagka't siya ang may kapal sa lahat ng mga bagay; at ang Israel ay siyang lipi na kaniyang mana ang Panginoon ng mga hukbo ay siyang kaniyang pangalan.

17 [Yahweh says this to the people of Jerusalem]: “The army of your enemies surrounds your city, so gather up your possessions [and prepare] to leave the city.

Iyong pulutin ang iyong mga kalakal mula sa lupain, Oh ikaw na nakukubkob.

18 I will soon throw you out of this land and cause you to experience great troubles, with the result that you will have severe pain (OR, none of you will be left here).”

Sapagka't ganito ang sabi ng Panginoon, Narito, aking ibubulid ang mga mananahan sa lupain sa panahong ito, at aking pahihirapan sila upang sila'y makaramdam.

19 [The people replied, “It is as though] we have been [badly] wounded, and we are very grieved; [It is as though] we have a very serious illness, and we must endure the pain.

Sa aba ko, dahil sa aking sugat! ang aking sugat ay malubha: nguni't aking sinabi, Tunay na ito ay aking hirap, at aking marapat na tiisin.

20 [It is as though] our [great] tent is destroyed; the ropes [that held it up] have been cut; our children have gone away from us and will not return; there are no people left to rebuild our great tent.

Ang aking tolda ay nagiba, at lahat ng panali ko ay nangapatid; iniwan ako ng aking mga anak, at sila'y wala na: wala nang magtayo pa ng aking tolda, at magtaas ng aking mga tabing.

21 Our leaders [MET] no [longer] have any sense; they no [longer] ask Yahweh [to (guide them/tell them what to do)], so they will no [longer] prosper, and all those over whom they rule [MET] will be scattered.

Sapagka't ang mga pastor ay naging tampalasan, at hindi nagsisangguni sa Panginoon: kaya't hindi sila magsisiginhawa, at lahat nilang kawan ay nangalat.

22 Listen! [Our enemies’ armies] in the north are making a [very] big noise/commotion [as they march toward us]. The towns in Judah will be destroyed, [and they will become] a place where jackals/wolves live.”

Ang tinig ng mga balita, narito, dumarating, at malaking kagulo mula sa lupaing hilagaan, upang gawing kagibaan ang mga bayan ng Juda, at tahanan ng mga chakal.

23 Yahweh, I know that no person controls what will happen to him; no one is able to direct the events that he will experience.

Oh Panginoon, talastas ko na ang lakad ng tao ay hindi sa kaniyang sarili; hindi para sa taong lumalakad ang magtuwid ng kaniyang mga hakbang.

24 [So] correct/discipline us, but do it gently. Do not correct/punish us when you are angry, because we would die if you did that.

Oh Panginoon, sawayin mo ako, nguni't sa pamamagitan ng kahatulan; huwag sa iyong galit, baka ako'y iuwi mo sa wala.

25 Punish [MTY] [all] the nations whose people do not acknowledge/say that you are God; punish all the nations whose people do not worship you, because they are completely destroying [DOU] [us people of] Israel and they are causing our land to soon be only a desert.

Iyong ibuhos ang iyong kapusukan sa mga bansa na hindi nakakakilala sa iyo, at sa mga angkan na hindi nagsisitawag sa iyong pangalan; sapagka't kanilang sinakmal ang Jacob, oo, kanilang sinakmal siya, at nilipol siya, at sinira ang kaniyang tahanan.
