Jeremiah 10
1 You people of Israel, listen to what Yahweh says:
Pamati kamo sa pulong nga gisulti ni Jehova kaninyo, Oh balay sa Israel:
2 “Do not act like the people of [other] nations act, and do not be terrified by strange/unusual things that you see in the sky, even though they cause the [people of other] nations to be terrified.
Mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Ayaw pagtoon sa batasan sa mga nasud, ug ayaw kalisang sa mga ilhanan sa langit; kay ang mga nasud nangalisang kanila.
3 The customs of the people [of other nations] are worthless. [For example], they cut down a tree in the forest. Then a [skilled] worker/craftsman [cuts a section of it and] uses his chisel to carve an idol from that section.
Kay ang mga batasan sa mga katawohan kakawangan man; kay ang usa nagaputol ug kahoy sa lasang, ang buhat sa mga kamot sa mamumuo nga may wasay.
4 [Then] people decorate the idol with silver and gold. [Then] they fasten it securely with nails in order that it will not topple/fall over.
Ilang gidayandayan kini sa salapi ug bulawan; ilang gilig-on kini sa mga lansang ug pakang, aron kini dili malihok.
5 [Then] the idol [stands there] like [SIM] a scarecrow in a field of cucumbers/melons! It cannot speak, and people must carry it, because it cannot walk. Do not be afraid of idols, because they cannot harm [anyone], and they cannot do [anything] good [to help anyone].”
Sila sama sa kahoy nga palma, sa buhat nga linalik, ug dili mosulti: sila kinahanglan nga pagapas-anon kay dili man makalakaw. Ayaw kahadlok kanila; kay sila dili makabuhat ug dautan, ni anaa kanila ang pagbuhat ug maayo.
6 Yahweh, there is no one like you. You [MTY] are great, and you are very powerful.
Walay bisan kinsa nga sama kanimo, Oh Jehova; ikaw daku man, ug ang imong ngalan daku sa gahum.
7 You are the king of all the nations! Everyone should [RHQ] revere you, because that is what you deserve. Among all the wise people on the earth and in all the kingdoms where they live, (there is no one like you./who can compare with you?)
Kinsay dili mahadlok kanimo, Oh Hari sa mga nasud? kay ikaw ang natingban niini; maingon nga sa taliwala sa mga manggialamon sa mga nasud, ug sa tanan nilang mga gingharian, walay bisan usa nga sama kanimo.
8 Those people who [think that they are] very wise [IRO] are stupid and foolish [DOU]. The idols that they worship are only made of wood! Those idols certainly cannot teach them anything.
Apan sila sa tingub mga mananapon ug buangbuang: ang ilang pagtulon-an sa mga dios-dios! Usa lamang ka tuod sa kahoy.
9 People hammer into thin sheets silver from Tarshish and gold from Uphaz, and then they give those sheets of silver and gold to skilled workers/craftsmen to cover the idols. Then they put on those idols expensive purple robes that are made by skilled workers.
Adunay salapi nga gipikpik sa paghimo ug mga pinggan nga dinala gikan sa Tarsis, ug bulawan gikan sa Upas, ang buhat sa panday, ug sa mga kamot sa magsasalsal sa bulawan; azul ug purpura maoy ilang bisti; silang tanan binuhat sa mga tawong batid nga mamumuhat.
10 But Yahweh is the [only] true God; he is the all-powerful God, the king [who rules] forever. When he is angry, [all] the earth shakes/quakes; and [the people of] the nations cannot endure [what he does] when he is angry [with them].
Apan si Jehova mao ang matuod nga Dios; siya mao ang Dios nga buhi, ug ang Hari nga walay katapusan: sa iyang kasuko ang yuta mokurog, ug ang mga nasud dili makapabilin sa iyang kasuko.
11 [You Israeli people], tell this to those people: “Those idols did not make the sky and the earth, and they will disappear from the earth.”
Mao kini ang igaingon ninyo kanila: Ang mga dios nga wala magbuhat sa kalangitan ug yuta, kini mangahanaw gikan sa yuta, ug gikan sa ilalum sa kalangitan.
12 But [Yahweh] made the earth by his power; he established it [firmly] by his wisdom and stretched out the sky by his understanding.
Gibuhat niya ang yuta pinaagi sa iyang gahum, gitukod niya ang kalibutan pinaagi sa iyang kinaadman, gibuklad ang kalangitan pinaagi sa iyang salabutan.
13 When he speaks [loudly], there is thunder in the sky; he causes clouds to form over every part of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and releases the winds from his storehouses.
Sa pagpagula niya sa iyang tingog, adunay kasamok sa tubig sa kalangitan, ug iyang pasakaon ang mga alisngaw gikan sa mga kinatumyan sa yuta; siya nagabuhat ug mga kilat alang sa ulan, ug nagapagula sa hangin gikan sa iyang mga tipiganan.
14 People are senseless and know very little [HYP]; those who make idols are always disappointed because their idols do nothing for them. The images/statues that they make are not real [gods]; they are lifeless.
Ang tagsatagsa ka tawo nahimong mananapon ug walay kahibalo; ang tagsatagsa ka magsasalsal sa bulawan gipakaulawan pinaagi sa iyang linilok nga larawan; kay ang iyang tinunaw nga larawan kabakakan man ug walay gininhawa diha kanila.
15 Idols are worthless; they deserve to be ridiculed; there will be a time when they [all] will be destroyed.
Sila kakawangan man, usa ka buhat sa limbong: sa panahon sa pagduaw kanila, sila mangahanaw.
16 But the God whom we Israelis worship is not like those idols; he is the one who created everything [that exists]; we, the tribe/people of Israel, belong to him; he is the Commander of the armies of angels.
Ang bahin ni Jacob dili sama niini: kay siya mao ang magtutukod sa tanang mga butang; ug ang Israel mao ang banay sa iyang panulondon: si Jehova sa mga panon mao ang iyang ngalan.
17 [Yahweh says this to the people of Jerusalem]: “The army of your enemies surrounds your city, so gather up your possessions [and prepare] to leave the city.
Hipusa ang tanan nimong mga galamiton gawas sa yuta, Oh ikaw nga nagpabilin sa kuta.
18 I will soon throw you out of this land and cause you to experience great troubles, with the result that you will have severe pain (OR, none of you will be left here).”
Kay mao kini ang giingon ni Jehova: Ania karon, saplongon ko ang mga pumoluyo sa yuta niining taknaa, ug akong sakiton sila, aron sila mobati niini.
19 [The people replied, “It is as though] we have been [badly] wounded, and we are very grieved; [It is as though] we have a very serious illness, and we must endure the pain.
Alaut ako tungod sa akong kadaut! ang akong samad ikasubo: apan ako miingon: Sa pagkamatuod mao kini ang akong kasakit, ug kinahanglan antuson ko kini.
20 [It is as though] our [great] tent is destroyed; the ropes [that held it up] have been cut; our children have gone away from us and will not return; there are no people left to rebuild our great tent.
Ang akong balong-balong nabungkag, ug ang tanan ko nga mga pisi nangaputol: ang akong mga anak nanglakaw gikan kanako, ug sila nangawala na: wala nay mausa nga mobuklad sa akong balong-balong pag-usab, ug sa pagtaud sa akong mga tabil.
21 Our leaders [MET] no [longer] have any sense; they no [longer] ask Yahweh [to (guide them/tell them what to do)], so they will no [longer] prosper, and all those over whom they rule [MET] will be scattered.
Kay ang mga magbalantay nangahimong sama sa mananap, ug wala managpangita kang Jehova: busa sila wala mouswag, ug ang tanan nilang mga panon managkatibulaag.
22 Listen! [Our enemies’ armies] in the north are making a [very] big noise/commotion [as they march toward us]. The towns in Judah will be destroyed, [and they will become] a place where jackals/wolves live.”
Ania karon, ang tingog sa mga balita, kini midangat ug ang usa ka dakung kagahub gikan sa yuta sa amihanan, aron sa paghimong kamingawan sa mga ciudad sa Juda, nga puloy-anan sa mga irong ihalas.
23 Yahweh, I know that no person controls what will happen to him; no one is able to direct the events that he will experience.
Oh Jehova, ako nasayud nga ang dalan sa tawo wala diha sa iyang kaugalingon: kini wala sa tawo nga molakaw aron sa pagtultol sa iyang mga lakang.
24 [So] correct/discipline us, but do it gently. Do not correct/punish us when you are angry, because we would die if you did that.
Oh Jehova, sawaya ako, apan sumala sa mapuangoron nga paghukom, dili sumala sa imong kasuko, tingali unya ako mahanaw.
25 Punish [MTY] [all] the nations whose people do not acknowledge/say that you are God; punish all the nations whose people do not worship you, because they are completely destroying [DOU] [us people of] Israel and they are causing our land to soon be only a desert.
Ibubo ang imong kaligutgut sa mga nasud nga wala managpakaila kanimo, ug sa kabanayan nga wala managsangpit sa imong ngalan; kay ilang gilamoy si Jacob, oo, ilang gilamoy siya, ug giut-ut siya, ug gihimong awa-aw ang iyang puloy-anan.
