Hosea 4

1 You Israeli people, listen to this message from Yahweh! He is accusing you people who live in this country, [saying] “The people are not faithfully [doing what pleases me], they are not kind [to others], and they do not [even] know me!

இஸ்ரயேலரே, நீங்கள் யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தையைக் கேளுங்கள்; நாட்டில் வாழ்கிற உங்களுக்கு எதிராகக் கொண்டுவரும்படி, ஒரு குற்றச்சாட்டு யெகோவாவிடம் இருக்கிறது: நாட்டில் உண்மையும் அன்பும் இல்லை, இறைவனை அறியும் அறிவு இல்லை.

2 Everywhere in this land they curse [others], they murder [others], they steal, and they commit adultery. They act violently toward others and commit one murder after another.

அங்கே சாபமிடுதலும், பொய்யும், கொலையும், களவும், விபசாரமும் மட்டுமே உண்டு; அவர்கள் எல்லைமீறிப் போகின்றனர், இரத்தப்பழிகளோடே இரத்தப்பழிகள் சேருகின்றது.

3 It is because of their doing those things that there is no rain [MTY], the land has become dry, the people are mourning, and the people are dying [from hunger]. Even the wild animals and the birds and the fish in the sea are dying.

இதனால் நாடு துக்கத்தோடிருக்கிறது, அங்கு வாழும் யாவரும் நலிந்துபோகிறார்கள். வெளியின் மிருகங்களும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளும், கடலில் உள்ள மீன்களும் சாகின்றன.

4 But no one should accuse someone else and say it is his fault. It is you priests whom I am accusing.

ஆசாரியர்களே நீங்கள் ஒரு குற்றச்சாட்டையும் கொண்டுவர வேண்டாம். ஒருவன் இன்னொருவனைச் குற்றஞ்சாட்டவும் வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் உங்கள் மக்கள் ஆசாரியனுக்கு எதிராகக் குற்றச்சாட்டுகளைக் கொண்டுவருகிறவர்கள் போலிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஆசாரியர்களே, என் வழக்கு உங்களோடுதான்.

5 So I will punish [MTY] you priests, night and day, and I will punish the prophets with you. I am going to destroy [Israel, the nation that is like] [MET] a mother to you.

நீங்கள் இரவிலும் பகலிலும் இடறிவிழுகிறீர்கள்; இறைவாக்கினரும் உங்களுடன் விழுகிறார்கள். எனவே நான் உங்கள் தாயை, இஸ்ரயேல் தேசத்தை அழிப்பேன்.

6 It is because my people do not know [about me] that they will be destroyed. And their not knowing about me is because you priests have refused [to teach them about me]; so I will no longer allow you to be my priests. You have forgotten the things that I taught you, so I will forget [to bless] your children.

எனது மக்கள் அறிவில்லாததினால் அழிந்துபோகிறார்கள். “நீங்கள் அறிவைப் புறக்கணித்திருக்கிறீர்கள், அதனால் நானும் உங்களை என் ஆசாரியர்களாய் இராதபடிக்கு புறக்கணிப்பேன். நீங்கள் உங்கள் இறைவனின் சட்டத்தை மறந்தபடியால், நானும் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை ஆசீர்வதிக்க மறந்துவிடுவேன்.

7 As there are more and more priests, they have sinned against me more and more. So I will no longer allow them to be honored; instead, I will cause them to be disgraced.

ஆசாரியர்கள் அநேகராய்ப் பெருகியபோது, அவர்கள் எனக்கெதிராக அதிகமாகப் பாவம் செய்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய மகிமையான இறைவனை வெட்கக்கேடான பாகால் தெய்வத்திற்கு மாற்றினார்கள்.

8 The priests get food from [the offerings that the] people [bring in order to be forgiven for having sinned], [so] the priests want the people to sin more and more [in order that the people will bring them more and more offerings].

எனது மக்களின் பாவத்தில் ஆசாரியர்கள் தின்று பிழைத்து, அவர்களது கொடுமையில் ஆவலாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

9 The priests [are as sinful] as the [other] people, and I will punish [all of] them for what they have done; I will pay them back for the [evil] things that they have done.

அக்காலத்தில்: மக்களைப்போலவே ஆசாரியருக்கும் நேரிடும். எனவே அவர்களின் தீயவழிகளுக்காக நான் அவர்கள் இரு சாராரையும் தண்டிப்பேன். அவர்கள் செயல்களுக்கேற்ப அவர்களுக்கு நான் பதிலளிப்பேன்.

10 [The priests] will eat, but they will still be hungry; they will have sex with prostitutes, but they will not have any children, because they have abandoned [me], Yahweh,

“அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் சாப்பிடுவார்கள், ஆனால் திருப்தியடையமாட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் வேசித்தனத்தில் ஈடுபட்டாலும் பலுகமாட்டார்கள்; ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் தங்கள் வேசித்தனத்திற்காக யெகோவாவைக் கைவிட்டார்கள்.

11 and they are devoting themselves to sleeping with prostitutes, and to [drinking] old wine and new wine, which results in their not being able to think clearly.”

புது மற்றும் பழைய திராட்சை இரசம் எனது மக்களின் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளும் ஆற்றலை பரித்துவிட்டது.

12 “[You] my people request wooden idols [to tell you what you should do]! Like prostitutes who have left/abandoned their husbands,

எனது மக்கள் மர விக்கிரகத்திடம் ஆலோசனையைக் கேட்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய கோல் பதில் தருமென்றிருக்கிறார்கள். வேசித்தனத்தின் ஆவி அவர்களை வழிவிலகச் செய்கிறது; அவர்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனுக்கு உண்மையற்றவர்களாய் இருக்கிறார்கள்.

13 you have abandoned [me] your God, and you are chasing after [other gods] on the tops of hills and mountains; you burn incense under oak [trees], poplar [trees], and other trees where there is nice/pleasing shade. So your daughters have become prostitutes, and your daughters-in-law have committed adultery.

அவர்கள் மலையுச்சியில் பலியிட்டு, குன்றுகளிலே இன்பமான நிழல் தருகின்ற கர்வாலி, புன்னை, தேவதாரு ஆகிய மரங்களின் கீழும் தகன காணிக்கைகளைப் பலியிடுகிறார்கள். எனவே உங்கள் மகள்கள் வேசித்தனத்திற்கும், மருமகள்கள் விபசாரத்திற்கும் திரும்புகிறார்கள்.

14 But it is not [only] your daughters [whom I will punish] for having become prostitutes, and it is not [only] your daughters-in-law whom I will punish for committing adultery, because the men also are having sex with prostitutes, and they offer sacrifices with the prostitutes [who search for men at the] shrines [of the idols]. [They are all] foolish people, and they will [all] be ruined.

“உங்கள் மகள்கள் வேசித்தனத்திற்குத் திரும்பும்போதும், மருமகள்கள் விபசாரம் செய்யும்போதும் நான் அவர்களைத் தண்டிக்கமாட்டேன். ஏனெனில் ஆண்களும் வேசிகளுடன் பாலுறவுகொண்டு, கோவில் வேசிகளுடன் பலியிடுகிறார்கள், அறிவில்லாத அம்மக்கள் சீரழிந்து போவார்கள்.

15 You Israeli [people] have abandoned me like [MET] those who commit adultery have abandoned their spouses. But do not cause [the people of] Judah to sin [also]. Do not go to Gilgal or go up to Beth-Aven [towns] [to worship idols there]. Do not make solemn promises [there, saying ‘Just as surely] as Yahweh lives, [I will do what I am promising].’

“இஸ்ரயேலே, நீ விபசாரம் செய்தாலும், யூதா நாடாகிலும் குற்றமற்றதாயிருக்கட்டும். “நீ கில்காலுக்குப் போகவேண்டாம்; பெத்தாவேனுக்கும் போகவேண்டாம். ‘யெகோவா இருப்பது நிச்சயமெனில்’ என்று ஆணையிடவும் வேண்டாம்.

16 You [people of Israel] are as stubborn as [SIM] a young cow. So there is no way [RHQ] that [I], Yahweh, will [provide food for them] [like a shepherd provides food for his] lambs [by leading them] to a nice meadow.

இஸ்ரயேலரோ அடங்காத இளம் பசுவைப்போல் பிடிவாதமாயிருக்கிறார்கள். அப்படியிருக்க, யெகோவா எப்படி புல்வெளியில் செம்மறியாட்டுக் குட்டிகளை மேய்ப்பதுபோல அவர்களை மேய்க்க முடியும்?

17 The people of Israel have chosen to worship idols [MET], [so] allow them [to do what they want to do].

எப்பிராயீம் விக்கிரகங்களோடு இணைந்துவிட்டான்; அவனைத் தனியே விட்டுவிடு!

18 When their rulers finish drinking [their wine], they go to find prostitutes; they love their disgraceful behavior.

அவர்களுடைய மதுபானங்கள் முடிந்துபோனாலும், அவர்கள் எப்போதும் தங்கள் வேசித்தனத்தைத் தொடர்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய ஆளுநர்கள் வெட்கக்கேடான வழிகளை ஆவலுடன் விரும்புகிறார்கள்.

19 But they will disappear [as though] [MET] they were blown away by a whirlwind. They will become [very] ashamed because of their offering sacrifices [to idols].”

சுழல் காற்று அவர்களை அடித்துக் கொண்டுபோகும், அவர்கள் விக்கிரகங்களுக்குப் படைக்கும் பலிகள் அவர்களுக்கு வெட்கத்தையே கொண்டுவரும்.
