Genesis 36
1 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Esau, whose other name was Edom.
Y ESTAS son las generaciones de Esaú, el cual es Edom.
2 Esau married three women from the Canaan region: Adah, the daughter of Elon from the Heth people-group; Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon from the Hiv people-group;
Esaú tomó sus mujeres de las hijas de Canaán: á Ada, hija de Elón Hetheo, y á Aholibama, hija de Ana, hija de Zibeón el Heveo;
3 and Basemath, who was the daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
Y á Basemath, hija de Ismael, hermana de Navaioth.
4 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz. Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Y Ada parió á Esaú á Eliphaz; y Basemath parió á Reuel.
5 Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. All these sons of Esau were born while he was living in the Canaan region.
Y Aholibama parió á Jeús, y á Jaalam, y á Cora: estos son los hijos de Esaú, que le nacieron en la tierra de Canaán.
6 Jacob and Esau had very many possessions. The result was that they needed more land for their livestock. The land where they were living was not big enough for both of them. They had too much livestock. So Esau, whose other name was Edom, had taken his wives and sons and daughters and all the other members of his household, his sheep and goats and his other animals, and all the other things he had obtained in Canaan land, and they had moved to an area that was away from Jacob.
Y Esaú tomó sus mujeres, y sus hijos, y sus hijas, y todas las personas de su casa, y sus ganados, y todas sus bestias, y toda su hacienda que había adquirido en la tierra de Canaán, y fuése á otra tierra de delante de Jacob su hermano:
Porque la hacienda de ellos era grande, y no podían habitar juntos, ni la tierra de su peregrinación los podía sostener á causa de sus ganados.
8 They went to live in the Seir hilly area.
Y Esaú habitó en el monte de Seir: Esaú es Edom.
9 (Here is/I will now give you) another list of the male descendants of Esau. He was the ancestor of the Edom people-group who live in the Seir area.
Estos son los linajes de Esaú, padre de Edom, en el monte de Seir.
10 Esau’s wife Adah gave birth to Eliphaz, and Esau’s wife Basemath gave birth to Reuel.
Estos son los nombres de los hijos de Esaú: Eliphaz, hijo de Ada, mujer de Esaú; Reuel, hijo de Basemath, mujer de Esaú.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
Y los hijos de Eliphaz fueron Temán, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, y Cenaz.
12 Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a (concubine/female slave whom he took as a secondary wife). Her name was Timna. She gave birth to Amalek. Those six men were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.
Y Timna fué concubina de Eliphaz, hijo de Esaú, la cual le parió á Amalec: estos son los hijos de Ada, mujer de Esaú.
13 Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They were grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.
Y los hijos de Reuel fueron Nahath, Zera, Samma, y Mizza: estos son los hijos de Basemath, mujer de Esaú.
14 Esau’s wife Oholibamah, who was the daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, gave birth to three sons: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
Estos fueron los hijos de Aholibama, mujer de Esaú, hija de Ana, que fué hija de Zibeón: ella parió á Esaú á Jeús, Jaalam, y Cora.
15 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of the people-groups who were descendants of Esau. His oldest son Eliphaz was the ancestor of the Teman people-group, the Omar people-group, the Zepho people-group, the Kenaz people-group,
Estos son los duques de los hijos de Esaú. Hijos de Eliphaz, primogénito de Esaú: el duque Temán, el duque Omar, el duque Zepho, el duque Cenaz,
16 the Korah people-group, the Gatam people-group, and the Amalek people-group. They were descendants of Eliphaz and of Esau’s wife Adah. They lived in the Edom region.
El duque Cora, el duque Gatam, y el duque Amalec: estos son los duques de Eliphaz en la tierra de Edom; estos fueron los hijos de Ada.
17 The sons of Esau’s son Reuel were ancestors of the Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah people-groups. They were descended from Esau’s wife Basemath. They also lived in Edom.
Y estos son los hijos de Reuel, hijo de Esaú: el duque Nahath, el duque Zera, el duque Samma, y el duque Mizza: estos son los duques de la línea de Reuel en la tierra de Edom; estos hijos vienen de Basemath, mujer de Esaú.
18 The sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, whose mother was Anah, were ancestors of the Jeush, Jalam, and Korah people-groups.
Y estos son los hijos de Aholibama, mujer de Esaú: el duque Jeús, el duque Jaalam, y el duque Cora: estos fueron los duques que salieron de Aholibama, mujer de Esaú, hija de Ana.
19 That is the list of the sons of Esau, and the people-groups who were their descendants.
Estos, pues, son los hijos de Esaú, y sus duques: él es Edom.
20 (This is/I will now give you) a list of the descendants of Seir, who belonged to the Hor people-group, who were the first people-group who lived in the Edom region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
Y estos son los hijos de Seir Horeo, moradores de aquella tierra: Lotán, Sobal, Zibeón, Ana,
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Those seven men became ancestors of people-groups. Each of the people-groups had the same name as the name of their ancestor.
Disón, Ezer, y Disán: estos son los duques de los Horeos, hijos de Seir en la tierra de Edom.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
Los hijos de Lotán fueron Hori y Hemán; y Timna fué hermana de Lotán.
23 The sons of Shobal were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
Y los hijos de Sobal fueron Alván, Manahath, Ebal, Sepho, y Onán.
24 The sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah. This Anah was the one who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was taking care of his father Zibeon’s donkeys.
Y los hijos de Zibeón fueron Aja, y Ana. Este Ana es el que descubrió los mulos en el desierto, cuando apacentaba los asnos de Zibeón su padre.
25 Anah had two children—a son named Dishon and a daughter named Oholibamah.
Los hijos de Ana fueron Disón, y Aholibama, hija de Ana.
26 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
Y estos fueron los hijos de Disón: Hemdán, Eshbán, Ithram, y Cherán.
27 Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
Y estos fueron los hijos de Ezer: Bilhán, Zaaván, y Acán.
28 Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.
Estos fueron los hijos de Disán: Huz, y Arán.
29 The people-groups who were descendants of Hor lived in the Seir/Edom region. The names of the people-groups are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
Y estos fueron los duques de los Horeos: el duque Lotán, el duque Sobal, el duque Zibeón, el duque Ana,
El duque Disón, el duque Ezer, el duque Disán: estos fueron los duques de los Horeos: por sus ducados en la tierra de Seir.
31 These are the names of the kings who ruled in Edom before any kings ruled over Israel.
Y los reyes que reinaron en la tierra de Edom, antes que reinase rey sobre los hijos de Israel, fueron estos:
32 Beor’s son Bela became the first king in Edom. The city where he lived was named Dinhabah.
Bela, hijo de Beor, reinó en Edom: y el nombre de su ciudad fué Dinaba.
33 When Bela died, Zerah’s son Jobab/became the king. He was from Bozrah [city].
Y murió Bela, y reinó en su lugar Jobab, hijo de Zera, de Bosra.
34 When Jobab died, Husham became the king. He was from the region where the Teman people-group lived.
Y murió Jobab, y en su lugar reinó Husam, de tierra de Temán.
35 When Husham died, Bedad’s son Hadan became the king. Husham’s army fought the army of the Midian people-group in the Moab region and defeated them. The city where Husham lived was Avith.
Y murió Husam, y reinó en su lugar Adad, hijo de Badad, el que hirió á Midián en el campo de Moab: y el nombre de su ciudad fué Avith.
36 When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
Y murió Adad, y en su lugar reinó Samla, de Masreca.
37 When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [town] along the [Euphrates] river.
Y murió Samla, y reinó en su lugar Saúl, de Rehoboth del Río.
38 When Shaul died, Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan became king.
Y murió Saúl, y en lugar suyo reinó Baalanán, hijo de Achbor.
39 When Achbor’s son Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became king. The city where he lived was named Pau. His wife’s name was Mehetabel. She was the daughter of Matred, who was the daughter of Me-Zahab.
Y murió Baalanán, hijo de Achbor, y reinó Adar en lugar suyo: y el nombre de su ciudad fué Pau; y el nombre de su mujer Meetabel, hija de Matred, hija de Mezaab.
40 (Here is/I will now give you) a list of all the people-groups that were descendants of Esau: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. They all lived in the Edom region. The land where each people-group lived got the same name as the name of the people-group.
Estos, pues, son los nombres de los duques de Esaú por sus linajes, por sus lugares, y sus nombres: el duque Timna, el duque Alva, el duque Jetheth,
El duque Aholibama, el duque Ela, el duque Pinón,
El duque Cenaz, el duque Temán, el duque Mibzar,
El duque Magdiel, y el duque Hiram. Estos fueron los duques de Edom por sus habitaciones en la tierra de su posesión. Edom es el mismo Esaú, padre de los Idumeos.
