Ezekiel 9

1 Then I heard Yahweh call out loudly, “[You men who are going to punish this city, ] bring here the guards of the city, each carrying a weapon.”

Et d'une grande voix il cria à mes oreilles, disant: Le jugement de la ville est proche, et chacun a dans la main un instrument de destruction.

2 Then I saw six men coming from the north gate of the temple area. Each one was carrying a weapon. With them was a man wearing a white linen robe. [carried] at his side a case containing things to write with. They [all] came into the temple and stood beside the bronze altar.

Et voilà que six hommes vinrent par la porte haute qui regarde l'aquilon, et chacun avait à la main une hache. Et au milieu d'eux il y avait un homme vêtu d'une robe traînante, avec une ceinture de saphirs autour des reins; et ils entrèrent, et ils s'arrêtèrent vers l'autel d'airain.

3 [Then] the (glory/dazzling light) [that symbolized the presence] of the God of Israel rose up from above the four winged creatures and moved to the entrance of the temple. Then Yahweh called to the man wearing the linen robe,

Et la gloire du Dieu d'Israël s'élevant, portée par des chérubins, alla au portique du temple; puis elle appela l'homme vêtu d'une longue robe, qui avait une ceinture sur les reins.

4 and said to him, “Go throughout Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who are very sad [DOU] because of the detestable things that are being done inside the city.”

Et le Seigneur lui dit: Traverse Jérusalem, et marque au front les hommes qui gémissent et pleurent sur toutes les iniquités qui se sont faites au milieu d'eux.

5 While I was listening, he said to the other six men, “Follow the man wearing the white robe, and kill people. Do not pity them or act mercifully toward them.

Et il dit aux six hommes pendant que je l'écoutais: Allez derrière lui dans la cité, et que vos yeux soient sans pitié, et vous, soyez sans miséricorde.

6 Slaughter old men, young men and women, older women and children, but do not harm any of those who have that mark on their forehead. Start at my temple.” So they began by killing the elders who were [worshiping idols] in front of the temple.

Tuez, exterminez le vieillard, le jeune homme et la vierge, les enfants et les femmes; mais n'attaquez point ceux qui auront la marque, et commencez par mon sanctuaire. Ils commencèrent donc par les vieillards qui étaient dans le temple.

7 Then Yahweh said to those men, “Pollute the temple by filling the [with the corpses of those whom] you kill! Start now!” So they went out and starting killing people throughout the city.

Et le Seigneur dit aux six hommes: Souillez le temple; allez et remplissez les parvis de cadavres, et frappez.

8 While they were doing that, I was left alone. I prostrated myself on the ground and cried out, “Yahweh my Lord, are you going to get rid of all the people of Israel and Judah who are still alive, while you are severely punishing [MTY] [the people of] Jerusalem?”

Et pendant qu'ils frappaient, je tombai la face contre terre, et je dis: Hélas! Seigneur, détruisez-vous les restes d'Israël, en répandant votre colère sur Jérusalem?

9 He replied, “The sins of the people [MTY] of Israel and Judah are extremely great. People are murdered [MTY] everywhere [in this country], and this city is full of [people who act] unjustly. They say, ‘Yahweh has abandoned this country, and he does not [what we are doing].’

Et il me dit: L'iniquité de la maison d'Israël et de Juda a beaucoup, beaucoup grandi, parce que la terre regorge d'étrangers, et que la ville regorge de crimes et d'impuretés; car ils ont dit: Le Seigneur a délaissé la terre, le Seigneur ne nous voit pas.

10 [So] I will not pity them or act mercifully toward them. I will do to them the evil things that they have done to other people.”

Et mon œil sera sans pitié, et je serai sans miséricorde, et je fais retomber leurs voies sur leurs têtes.

11 Then the man wearing the linen robe returned, saying, “I have done what you commanded me to do.”

Et l'homme revêtu d'une robe traînante, avec une ceinture sur les reins, prit la parole, et dit: J'ai fait ce que vous m'avez commandé.
