< Ezekiel 8 >

1 On the fifth day of the sixth month [of that year], almost six years after we Israeli people had been (exiled/forced to go to Babylon), I was sitting in my house. The elders of Judah were sitting in front of me. Suddenly the power [MTY] of Yahweh the Lord came on me.
Kum rhuk kum hla rhuk dongkah hnin nga a lo vaengah kamah im ah ka ngol tih kamah mikhmuh ah Judah kah patong rhoek khaw ngol uh. Te vaengah ka Boeipa Yahovah kah kut he kai sola pahoi ha tla.
2 [in a vision] I saw someone who resembled a man. Below his waist, [his body] was like fire, and above his waist [his body] was glowing like very hot metal.
Ka sawt vaengah hmai kah a mueimae bangla phek om he. A mueimae te a cinghen lamloh a dang due hmai bangla om. A cinghen lamloh a so duela rhohumbok kah a pang neh khophaa kah mueimae bangla om.
3 He reached out what seemed to be a hand and grabbed me by the hair of my head. The Spirit lifted me up high above the earth, and in visions God took me [from Babylon] to Jerusalem. He took me [to the temple], to the north gate, to the place where there was an idol that caused Yahweh to be very disgusted and furious.
Kut kah muei bang te a thueng tih ka lu samtoel ah kai n'doek. Te vaengah mueihla loh kai he diklai laklo neh vaan laklo la m'pom. Te phoeiah kai te Pathen kah mangthui khuiah tlangpuei la aka mael Jerusalem khui kah vongka thohka la ng'khuen. Te te thatlainah mueimae neh aka thatlai kah tolrhum ni.
4 And there in front of me was the brilliant light that indicated the presence of the God whom the Israeli [people previously worshiped. It was] like the vision that I had seen alongside the Kebar River/Canal.
Te vaengah Israel Pathen kah thangpomnah he kolbawn ah a mueimae la pahoi ka hmuh coeng he.
5 Yahweh said to me, “You human, look toward the north!” So I looked, and I saw in the entrance of the gate near the altar that idol that caused Yahweh to be disgusted and furious.
Te phoeiah kai taengah, “Hlang capa aw, tlangpuei longpuei la na mik huel laeh,” a ti. Ka mik he tlangpuei longpuei la ka huel tangloeng hatah thatlainah mueimae kah hmueihtuk vongka te tlangpuei ah kak ka hmuh. Te te thohkaeng ah ni a om.
6 He said to me, “You human, do you see what those Israeli people [MTY] are doing? They are doing detestable things here, things that will cause me to abandon my temple. But you will see things that are even more detestable.”
Te phoeiah kai taengah, “Hlang capa, amih te na hmuh nama? Amih loh tueilaehkoi a saii uh khungdaeng coeng te. Ka rhokso lamloh lakhla ham he Israel imkhui long ni a saii. Tedae koep na mael vetih tueilaehkoi khaw muep na hmuh bitni,” a ti.
7 Then he brought me to the entrance of the courtyard. I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
Te phoeiah kai te vongup thohka la ng'khuen hatah pangbueng dongah a khui pakhat te lawt ka hmuh.
8 He said to me, “You human, dig through the wall here.” So I dug through the wall, and I saw a doorway inside.
Te vaengah kai taengah, “Hlang capa, pangbueng te thuk laeh,” a ti. Te dongah pangbueng te ka thuk hatah thohka pakhat lawt ka hmuh.
9 He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked and detestable things that they are doing there!”
Te phoeiah kai taengah, “Paan lamtah boethae rhoek kah tueilaehkoi te so lah, te te amih long ni he ah he a saii uh,” a ti.
10 So I went in through the doorway and looked, and I saw, all over the [of a big room, drawings of] all kinds of creatures that scurry across the ground and [other] detestable animals, and drawings of all the idols that the people of [were worshiping].
Ka kun vaengah rhulcai muei cungkuem neh konawhnah rhamsa kah mueirhol boeih khaw kak ka hmuh. Te te Israel im ah pangbueng kah a kaep a kaep ah a vuel.
11 In front of them stood 70 elders of Israel. Jaazaniah, the son of Shaphan, was standing among them. Each of them was holding a pan in which incense was burning, and fragrant smoke of the burning incense was rising up.
Amih lakli ah Israel imkhui kah patong hlang sawmrhih neh Shaphan capa Jaazaniah khaw pai. Amih hmai ah aka pai hlang loh a kut dongah hmaibael te a pom. Te vaengah bo-ul kah a hu a thah la khu.
12 Yahweh said to me, “You human, look at [RHQ] what the Israeli elders are doing here in the darkness, each of them standing in front of the shrine of his own idol! They are saying, ‘Yahweh does not see us; Yahweh has deserted this country.’”
Te phoeiah kai taengah, “Hlang capa, Israel im kah patong rhoek loh a ngaihlih imkhui kah hlang neh hmaisuep ah a saii te na hmuh nama? 'BOEIPA loh mamih m'hmuh pawt tih khohmuen he BOEIPA loh a hnoo coeng,” a ti uh,” a ti.
13 He also said, “But you will see things that are even more detestable!”
Te phoeiah kai taengah, “Koep na mael vaengah amih loh tueilaehkoi a tanglue a saii uh te na hmuh bitni,” a ti.
14 Then he took me to the entrance at the north gate of the temple. I saw women sitting there, mourning for [the death of the god of the people of Babylonia], Tammuz.
Te dongah kai te tlangpuei kah BOEIPA im vongka kah thohka la m'pawk puei. Te vaengah manu tarha ana ngol pahoi tih Tammuz te a rhah uh.
15 He said to me, “You human, you see this [RHQ], but you will see things that are more detestable than this!”
Te vaengah kai taengah, “Hlang capa na hmuh coeng nama? Koep na mael vaengah he lakah a nah la tueilaehkoi na hmuh ni,” a ti.
16 Then he took me into the courtyard outside the temple. There at the entrance of the temple, between the porch and the altar, were about 25 men. Their backs were toward the temple and their faces were toward the east, and they were bowing down to [worship] the sun [as it rose] in the east.
Te phoeiah kai te BOEIPA im vongup khui la m'pawk puei. Te vaengah BOEIPA bawkim thohka kah ngalha laklo neh hmueihtuk laklo ah hlang pakul panga tluk ana om. BOEIPA bawkim te a hnuk la a rhoe uh tih a maelhmai khothoeng la a khuehuh. Amih loh khothoeng kah khomik te a bawk uh.
17 He said to me, “You human, you see [RHQ] what they are doing. [Do you think that] it is not important that these men of Judah are doing these detestable things here? [But they are doing other terrible things]. They are acting violently throughout their country, and continually causing me to be angry. Look at them! They are insulting me by their actions [IDM]!
Te vaengah kai taengah, “Hlang capa na hmuh coeng nama? Judah imkhui loh tueilaehkoi a saii te phoeng a? Khohmuen te kuthlahnah neh cung sak kuekluek ham ni a saii uh he. Kai veet ham ni mael uh tih amih loh a hnarhong te thingluei a hu thil lah ko te.
18 So I will show them that I am very angry. I will not pity them or act mercifully toward them. And even if they shout to me [to help them], I will not pay attention to them.”
Te dongah kai loh kosi neh ka saii ni. Ka mik loh rhen pawt vetih lungma ka ti mahpawh. Ka hna ah ol ue la ng'khue uh cakhaw amih ol ka hnatun mahpawh,” a ti.
