Ezekiel 35
1 Yahweh gave me another message. He said,
La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 “You human, turn toward Edom and prophesy what will happen to its people. Say that this is what Yahweh says to them:
" Fils de l'homme, tourne ta face vers la montagne de Séir et prophétise contre elle, et dis-lui:
3 ‘You who live near Seir Mountain [in Edom], I am opposed to you, and I will use my power [MTY] to strike you and cause your country to become a wasteland.
Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Voici que je viens à toi, montagne de Séir, je vais étendre ma main sur toi, et faire de toi une solitude et un désert.
4 I will cause your country to be ruined and desolate. When that happens, people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
Je réduirai tes villes en ruines, tu seras une solitude; et tu sauras que je suis Yahweh.
5 You have always been enemies of the Israeli people. You [rejoiced] when they experienced a great disaster: [their enemies attacked them with] swords, when I punished them [for the sins that they had committed].
Parce que tu as une haine éternelle et que tu as livré au glaive les enfants d'Israël, au temps de leur calamité, au temps de l'iniquité finale,
6 Therefore, I, Yahweh the Lord, declare that as surely as I am alive, I will allow [your enemies] to slaughter [MTY] you and continue to slaughter you. You were happy when [LIT] others were slaughtered;
à cause de cela, je suis vivant, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh: Je te mettrai à sang, et le sang te poursuivra; parce que tu n'as pas haï le sang, le sang te poursuivra.
7 so I will cause Seir Mountain to be abandoned/deserted, and I will get rid of anyone who enters it or leaves it.
Et je ferai de la montagne de Séir une solitude et un désert, et j'en retrancherai tout allant et venant.
8 I will cause your mountains to be filled with [the corpses of] those who have been killed. The corpses of those who have been killed by [your enemies’] swords will lie on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines.
Je remplirai ses monts de ses blessés à mort; sur tes collines, dans tes vallées et dans tous tes ravins tomberont les hommes égorgés par l'épée.
9 I will cause your land to be deserted forever. No one will live in your towns again. When that happens, you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].
Je te réduirai en solitudes éternelles, et tes villes ne seront plus habitées; et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.
10 You people said, “Israel and Judah will become ours. We will take over their territory!” You said that even though I, Yahweh, was still there [and protecting them].
Parce que tu as dit: " Les deux nations et les deux pays seront à moi, et nous en prendrons possession! " — et Yahweh était là! —
11 Therefore, I, Yahweh the Lord, declare that as surely as I am alive, I will punish [MTY] you for being angry with my people, envying them, and hating them.
à cause de cela, je suis vivant, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh: j'agirai selon ta colère, et selon ta jalousie, que tu as montrées dans ta haine contre eux, et je me ferai connaître au milieu d'eux quand je te jugerai.
12 Then you will know that I, Yahweh, have heard all the disgusting things that you have said about the mountains in Israel. You said that they have been ruined/devastated, and that they have been given to you to occupy [MET].
Et tu sauras que moi, Yahweh, j'ai entendu tous tes outrages, que tu proférais contre les montagnes d'Israël, en disant: " Elles sont dévastées, elles nous sont données comme une proie à dévorer "
13 When you insulted me, I heard all that you said about me.
Vous m'avez bravé par vos discours; et vous avez multiplié vos paroles contre moi; moi, j'ai entendu!
14 So this is what I, Yahweh the Lord, say: You people who live on Seir Mountain and in all the other places in Edom, when I cause your land to become desolate, everyone in the entire world will rejoice.
Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Quand toute la terre se réjouira, je ferai de toi une solitude.
15 You were happy when the land [MTY] of the Israeli people became desolate, so I will cause your land to become desolate. When that happens, people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
Comme tu t'es réjouie au sujet de l'héritage de la maison d'Israël parce qu'il était dévasté, je te ferai de même: tu seras dévastée, montagne de Séir, ainsi que l'Idumée tout entière. Et l'on saura que je suis Yahweh. "
