Ezekiel 25

1 [Some time later, ] Yahweh gave me another message. [He said, ]

En des HEEREN woord geschiedde tot mij, zeggende:

2 “You human, turn toward where the Ammon people- [lives], and prophesy [what will happen to] them.

Mensenkind! zet uw aangezicht tegen de kinderen Ammons, en profeteer tegen dezelve;

3 Say about them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says: “You shouted joyfully when my [in Jerusalem] was destroyed, and when the country/land of Israel was ruined, and when the people of Judah were (exiled/forced to go) [to Babylonia].

En zeg tot de kinderen Ammons: Hoort des Heeren HEEREN woord: Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat gij gezegd hebt: Heah! over Mijn heiligdom, als het ontheiligd werd, en over het land Israels, als het verwoest werd, en over het huis van Juda, als zij in gevangenis gingen;

4 Therefore, I am going to allow you to be conquered by people [who will come] from the east. They will set up their tents in your country and live there. And they will eat the fruit from [fruit trees] and drink the [from your cattle].

Daarom, ziet, Ik zal u aan die van het oosten overgeven tot een bezitting, dat zij hun burgen in u zetten, en hun woningen in u stellen, die zullen uw vruchten eten, en die zullen uw melk drinken.

5 I will [your capital city] Rabbah to become a pasture for camels, and the rest of Ammon to [only] a resting place for sheep. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].”

En Ik zal Rabba tot een kemelstal maken, en de kinderen Ammons tot een schaapskooi; en gij zult weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben.

6 This is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: “You clapped your [joyfully] and stomped your feet, and laughed because you despised [the people in] the land of Israel.

Want alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat gij met de hand geklapt, en met den voet gestampt hebt, en van harte verblijd zijt geweest in al uw plundering, over het land Israels;

7 Therefore, I will use my power [MTY] against you, and I will enable [other] nations [conquer you and] take away your valuable possessions. I will destroy you completely [DOU], with the result that you no longer will be a nation. When that happens, people will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”

Daarom, ziet, Ik zal Mijn hand tegen u uitstrekken, en u den heidenen ten buit geven, en zal u uit de volken uitroeien, en u uit de landen verdoen; Ik zal u verdelgen; en gij zult weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben.

8 This is [also] what Yahweh the Lord says: “[The people of] [south of Ammon] and [the people of] [south of Moab despised Israel and] said, ‘The people [MTY] of Israel have [as unimportant] as all the other nations!’

Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat Moab en Seir zeggen: Ziet, het huis van Juda is gelijk al de heidenen;

9 Therefore, I will destroy the cities that protect the borders of Moab, starting at Beth-Jeshimoth, Baal-Meon, and Kiriathaim, the finest cities in Moab.

Daarom, ziet, Ik zal de zijde van Moab openen, van de steden af, van zijn steden, die van zijn grenzen af zijn, het sieraad des lands, Beth-Jesimoth, Baal-Meon, en tot Kiriathaim toe;

10 I will enable people from the east to conquer Moab and also to conquer Ammon. As a result, [I will cause that] Ammon will no longer be remembered by other nations.

Voor die van het oosten, met het land der kinderen Ammons, hetwelk Ik ter bezitting zal overgeven; opdat der kinderen Ammons onder de heidenen niet meer gedacht worde.

11 I will also punish [the people of] Moab. When that happens, they will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].”

Ik zal ook in Moab gerichten oefenen; en zij zullen weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben.

12 This is [also] what Yahweh the Lord says: “[You people of] Edom are guilty of getting revenge on the people [MTY] of Judah.

Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat Edom met enkel wraakgierigheid gehandeld heeft tegen het huis van Juda; en zij zich zeer schuldig gemaakt hebben, dat zij zich aan hen gewroken hebben:

13 Therefore this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord, say: 'I will use my power against [the people of] Edom and will get rid of their men and their animals. I will ruin the land from Teman [region in central Edom] to Dedan [region in the south of Edom], and many of their men will be killed [their enemies] swords.'

Daarom, alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ik zal ook Mijn hand uitstrekken tegen Edom, en Ik zal mens en beest uit haar uitroeien; en zal haar tot een woestheid stellen van Theman af; en zij zullen tot Dedan toe door het zwaard vallen.

14 The Israeli people will use their power [MTY] to get revenge on [the people of] Edom. They will show [the people of] Edom that I have been angry with them, and I will punish [MTY] them. The people of Edom will experience my getting revenge on them. Then they will know that I, Yahweh the Lord, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].”

En Ik zal Mijn wraak doen aan Edom, door de hand van Mijn volk Israel; en zij zullen tegen Edom naar Mijn toorn en naar Mijn grimmigheid handelen; alzo zullen zij Mijn wraak gewaar worden, spreekt de Heere HEERE.

15 This is [also] what Yahweh the Lord says: “The Philistia people-group wanted very much to get revenge [on the people of Judah]. They very maliciously wanted to destroy [Judah].

Alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Omdat de Filistijnen door wraak gehandeld hebben, en van harte wraak geoefend hebben door plundering, om te vernielen door een eeuwige vijandschap;

16 Therefore this is what I, Yahweh the Lord, say: I am about to use my power [MTY] against the Philistia people. I will get rid of the Kereth people-group and all [those who live along] the coast of the [Mediterranean] Sea.

Daarom, alzo zegt de Heere HEERE: Ziet, Ik strek Mijn hand uit tegen de Filistijnen, en zal de Cherethieten uitroeien, en het overblijfsel van de zeehaven verdoen.

17 By the way I punish them, I will get great revenge on them and show that I am angry with them. And when I get revenge on them, they will know that I, Yahweh the Lord, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].'”

En Ik zal grote wraak met grimmige straffingen onder hen doen; en zij zullen weten, dat Ik de HEERE ben, als Ik Mijn wraak aan hen gedaan zal hebben.
