Deuteronomy 31
1 When Moses/I finished saying all that to the Israeli people,
Mosè andò e rivolse ancora queste parole a tutto Israele. Disse loro:
2 he/I said to them, “Now I am 120 years old. I am no longer able to go everywhere [that you go] (OR, to be your leader). Furthermore, Yahweh has told me that I will not cross the Jordan [River].
«Io oggi ho centovent'anni; non posso più andare e venire; inoltre il Signore mi ha detto: Tu non passerai questo Giordano.
3 But Yahweh our God will go ahead of you. He will [enable you to] destroy the nations that are living there, in order that you can occupy their land. Joshua will be your leader, which is what Yahweh already told me.
Il Signore tuo Dio passerà davanti a te, distruggerà davanti a te quelle nazioni e tu prenderai il loro posto; quanto a Giosuè, egli passerà alla tua testa, come il Signore ha detto.
4 Yahweh will do to those nations what he did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amor people-group when he destroyed their armies [MTY].
Il Signore tratterà quelle nazioni come ha trattato Sicon e Og, re degli Amorrei, e come ha trattato il loro paese, che egli ha distrutto.
5 Yahweh will enable you to conquer those nations, but you must [kill all of the people of those nations, which is] what I have commanded you to do.
Il Signore le metterà in vostro potere e voi le tratterete secondo tutti gli ordini che vi ho dati.
6 Be brave and confident. Do not be afraid of those people. [Do not forget that] it is Yahweh our God who will go with you. He will always help [LIT] you and never abandon you.”
Siate forti, fatevi animo, non temete e non vi spaventate di loro, perché il Signore tuo Dio cammina con te; non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà».
7 Then Moses/I summoned Joshua, and while all the Israeli people were listening, he/I said to him, “Be brave and confident. You are the one who will lead these people into the land that Yahweh promised to our ancestors that he would give to them, and you will enable them to occupy it.
Poi Mosè chiamò Giosuè e gli disse alla presenza di tutto Israele: «Sii forte e fatti animo, perché tu entrerai con questo popolo nel paese, che il Signore ai loro padri giurò di darvi: tu gliene darai il possesso.
8 It is Yahweh who will go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will always help [LIT] you. He will never abandon you. So do not be afraid or dismayed.”
Il Signore stesso cammina davanti a te; egli sarà con te, non ti lascerà e non ti abbandonerà; non temere e non ti perdere d'animo!».
9 Moses/I wrote down all these laws [on two scrolls] and gave [one scroll] to the priests, who carried the chest containing the Ten Commandments, and [gave the other scroll] to the Israeli elders.
Mosè scrisse questa legge e la diede ai sacerdoti figli di Levi, che portavano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e a tutti gli anziani d'Israele.
10 Moses/I told them, “At the end of every seven years, at the time that all debts are canceled, [read this to the people] during the Festival of [Living in Temporary] Shelters.
Mosè diede loro quest'ordine: «Alla fine di ogni sette anni, al tempo dell'anno del condono, alla festa delle capanne,
11 Read it to all the Israeli people when they gather at the place that Yahweh chooses for them to worship him.
quando tutto Israele verrà a presentarsi davanti al Signore tuo Dio, nel luogo che avrà scelto, leggerai questa legge davanti a tutto Israele, agli orecchi di tutti.
12 Gather together everyone—men, women, children, even the foreigners [who are living] in your towns—in order that they may hear [these laws] and learn to revere Yahweh our God, and to faithfully obey everything that is written in these laws.
Radunerai il popolo, uomini, donne, bambini e il forestiero che sarà nelle tue città, perché ascoltino, imparino a temere il Signore vostro Dio e si preoccupino di mettere in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge.
13 [If they do that], your descendants who have never known these laws will hear them and will also learn to revere Yahweh our God, during all the years that they live in the land that you are about to cross the Jordan [River] to occupy.”
I loro figli, che ancora non la conoscono, la udranno e impareranno a temere il Signore vostro Dio, finché vivrete nel paese di cui voi andate a prendere possesso passando il Giordano».
14 Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Listen carefully. You will soon die. Summon Joshua, and you go to the Sacred Tent with him, in order that I may appoint him [to be the new leader].” So Joshua and Moses/I went to the Sacred Tent.
Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Ecco, il giorno della tua morte è vicino; chiama Giosuè e presentatevi nella tenda del convegno, perché io gli comunichi i miei ordini». Mosè e Giosuè dunque andarono a presentarsi nella tenda del convegno.
15 There Yahweh appeared to them/us in a pillar of cloud, and that cloud was close to the door of the tent.
Il Signore apparve nella tenda in una colonna di nube e la colonna di nube stette all'ingresso della tenda.
16 Yahweh said to Moses/me, “You will soon die [EUP]. Then these people will become unfaithful [MET] to me. They will abandon me and (break/stop obeying) the agreement that I made with them. They will begin to worship the foreign/pagan gods [that are worshiped by the people] of the land that they will enter.
Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Ecco, tu stai per addormentarti con i tuoi padri; questo popolo si alzerà e si prostituirà con gli dei stranieri del paese nel quale sta per entrare; mi abbandonerà e spezzerà l'alleanza che io ho stabilita con lui.
17 When that happens, I will become very angry with them. I will abandon them [DOU] and I will no longer help them [IDM], and I will destroy them {they will be destroyed}. Many terrible things will happen to them, with the result that they will say, ‘[We are certain that] [RHQ] these things are happening to us because our God is no longer with us.’
In quel giorno, la mia ira si accenderà contro di lui; io li abbandonerò, nasconderò loro il volto e saranno divorati. Lo colpiranno malanni numerosi e angosciosi e in quel giorno dirà: Questi mali non mi hanno forse colpito per il fatto che il mio Dio non è più in mezzo a me?
18 And because of all the evil things that they will have done, and [especially because] they will have started to worship other gods, I will refuse to help [IDM] them.
Io, in quel giorno, nasconderò il volto a causa di tutto il male che avranno fatto rivolgendosi ad altri dei.
19 “So, [I am going to give you] a song. Write it [on a scroll] and teach it to the Israeli people and cause them to memorize it. It will be like a witness that accuses them.
Ora scrivete per voi questo cantico e insegnatelo agli Israeliti; mettetelo loro in bocca, perché questo cantico mi sia di testimonio contro gli Israeliti.
20 I am about to take them into a very fertile [IDM] land, a land that I solemnly promised their ancestors that I would give to them. There they will have plenty to eat, with the result that their [stomachs] will [always] be full and they will become fat. But then they will turn to other gods and start to worship them, and they will despise me and (break/stop obeying) the agreement that I made with them.
Quando lo avrò introdotto nel paese che ho promesso ai suoi padri con giuramento, paese dove scorre latte e miele, ed egli avrà mangiato, si sarà saziato e ingrassato e poi si sarà rivolto ad altri dei per servirli e mi avrà disprezzato e avrà spezzato la mia alleanza,
21 And they will experience many terrible disasters. After that happens, their descendants will never forget this song, and it will be like a witness [that says, ‘Now you know why Yahweh punished your ancestors].’ I will soon take them into the land that I vowed that I would give to them; but now, before I do that, I know what they are thinking [that they will do when they are living there].”
e quando lo avranno colpito malanni numerosi e angosciosi, allora questo canto sarà testimonio davanti a lui; poiché non sarà dimenticato dalla sua discendenza. Sì, conosco i pensieri da lui concepiti gia oggi, prima ancora che io lo abbia introdotto nel paese, che ho promesso con giuramento».
22 So on the day that [Yahweh gave Moses/me this song], he/I wrote it down, and he/I taught it to the Israeli people.
Mosè scrisse quel giorno questo canto e lo insegnò agli Israeliti.
23 Then Yahweh (appointed/set apart) Joshua and said to him, “Be brave and confident, because you will lead the Israeli people into the land that I vowed that I would give to them. And I will be with you.”
Poi il Signore comunicò i suoi ordini a Giosuè, figlio di Nun, e gli disse: «Sii forte e fatti animo, poiché tu introdurrai gli Israeliti nel paese, che ho giurato di dar loro, e io sarò con te».
24 Then Moses/I finished writing on a scroll all the laws that Yahweh had told to him/me.
Quando Mosè ebbe finito di scrivere su un libro tutte le parole di questa legge,
25 Then Moses/I told the descendants of Levi, who were carrying the Sacred Chest that contained the Ten Commandments,
ordinò ai leviti che portavano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore:
26 “Take this scroll on which these laws [are written], and place it beside the Sacred Chest that contains the agreement that Yahweh our God made with you, in order that it may remain there to testify [about what Yahweh will do] to the people [if they disobey him].
«Prendete questo libro della legge e mettetelo a fianco dell'arca dell'alleanza del Signore vostro Dio; vi rimanga come testimonio contro di te;
27 [I say this] because I know that these people are very stubborn [DOU]. They have rebelled against Yahweh all during the time that I have been [with them], and they will rebel much more after I die!
perché io conosco la tua ribellione e la durezza della tua cervice. Se fino ad oggi, mentre vivo ancora in mezzo a voi, siete stati ribelli contro il Signore, quanto più lo sarete dopo la mia morte!
28 So gather all the elders of the tribes and your officials, in order that I can tell them the words [of this song], and request all those who are in heaven and on the earth to be witnesses to testify against these people.
Radunate presso di me tutti gli anziani delle vostre tribù e i vostri scribi; io farò udire loro queste parole e prenderò a testimoni contro di loro il cielo e la terra.
29 I say that because I know that after I die, the people will become very wicked. They will turn away from doing everything that I have commanded them to do. And in the future, because of all the evil things that they will do, they will cause Yahweh to become angry with them. And he will cause them to experience disasters.”
So infatti che, dopo la mia morte, voi certo vi corromperete e vi allontanerete dalla via che vi ho detto di seguire; la sventura vi colpirà negli ultimi giorni, perché avrete fatto ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, provocandolo a sdegno con l'opera delle vostre mani».
30 Then, while all the Israeli people listened, Moses/I sang/recited this entire song to them:
Poi Mosè pronunziò innanzi a tutta l'assemblea d'Israele le parole di questo canto, fino al loro termine.
