Daniel 2
1 [One night] during the second year that Nebuchadnezzar ruled, he had a dream. The dream worried him very much; and [as a result] he could not sleep.
நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் தனது ஆட்சியின் இரண்டாம் வருடத்தில் ஒர் இரவு கனவுகளைக் கண்டான். அதனால் அவன் மனக்குழப்பமடைந்து நித்திரையின்றி இருந்தான்.
2 [The next morning] he summoned his men who worked magic, fortune-tellers, those who worked sorcery, and those who studied the stars. [Because he had forgotten what he had dreamed, ] he insisted that they tell him what he had dreamed. As they stood there in front of the king,
ஆகவே அரசன், தான் கண்ட கனவைச் சொல்லும்படி தன் நாட்டிலிருந்த மந்திரவாதிகளையும், மாந்திரீகரையும், சூனியக்காரரையும், சோதிடரையும் அழைக்கச் சொன்னான். அவர்கள் அரசன்முன் வந்து நின்றபோது,
3 he said, “I had a dream [last night] that worries me. [Tell me what I dreamed, because] I want to know what the dream [means].”
அரசன் அவர்களிடம், “நான் ஒரு கனவு கண்டேன். அது என்னைக் குழப்பமடையச் செய்கிறது. அந்தக் கனவின் விளக்கம் என்னவென்று நான் அறிய விரும்புகிறேன்” என்றான்.
4 The men who studied the stars replied to the king, speaking in the Aramaic [language]. They said, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we hope that you will live a long time! Tell us what you dreamed, and [then] we will tell you what it means!”
அப்பொழுது சோதிடர்கள், “அரசே, நீர் நீடூழி வாழ்க; கனவை எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும். நாங்கள் அதன் விளக்கத்தைச் சொல்வோம்” என்று அரமேய மொழியில் சொன்னார்கள்.
5 But the king replied, “I have firmly decided that you must tell me the dream, and [also tell me] what it means. If you do not do that, I will [order my soldiers to] cut you into pieces, and to cause your houses to become only piles of stones!
அதற்கு அரசன் சோதிடர்களிடம், “நான் உறுதியாகத் தீர்மானித்தது இதுவே: எனது கனவையும், அதற்குரிய விளக்கத்தையும் நீங்கள் சொல்லாவிட்டால், நான் உங்களைத் துண்டுதுண்டாக வெட்டுவிப்பேன், உங்கள் வீடுகளையும் தரைமட்டமாக்குவேன்.
6 But if you tell me what I dreamed and what it means, I will reward you. I will give you wonderful gifts and greatly honor you. So tell me what I dreamed and what it means!”
ஆனால் கனவைச் சொல்லி அதற்கு விளக்கத்தையும் தெரிவிப்பீர்களாயின், நீங்கள் என்னிடமிருந்து அன்பளிப்புகளையும், வெகுமதிகளையும், பெருமதிப்பையும் பெறுவீர்கள். எனவே கனவைச் சொல்லி, அதன் விளக்கத்தையும் எனக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.”
7 But again they said, “Tell us what you dreamed, and [then] we will tell you what it means.”
திரும்பவும் அவர்கள், “அரசர் தமது அடியவராகிய எங்களுக்குக் கனவைச் சொல்வாராக. அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் அதன் விளக்கத்தைக் கூறுவோம், என்று பதிலளித்தார்கள்.”
8 The king replied, “I know that you are just trying to get more time, because you know that I will do to you what I said that I would do.
அதற்கு அரசன், “நான் உறுதியாய்த் தீர்மானித்திருப்பது என்ன என்பதை நீங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கிறபடியால், நீங்கள் காலத்தைத் கடத்தப் பார்க்கிறீர்கள் என்பது எனக்கு நிச்சயமாய்த் தெரியும்.
9 If you do not tell me what I dreamed, you will be punished. [I think that] you have all agreed to tell me lies and [other] wicked things, because you hope that I will change ([my mind/what I am thinking]). But tell me the dream, and [then] I will know that you can [also] tell me what it means.”
இப்பொழுது கனவைச் சொல்லாமற்போனால், உங்களுக்கு ஒரு தண்டனைதான் இருக்கிறது. சூழ்நிலை மாறும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையுடன் நீங்கள் பொய்யும், புரட்டுமானவற்றை எனக்குச் சொல்லி, காலத்தைக் கடத்தப் பார்க்கிறீர்கள். எனவே இப்பொழுது கனவை எனக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள். அப்பொழுது அதன் விளக்கத்தையும் உங்களால் சொல்லமுடியும் என்பதை நான் அறிவேன் என்றான்.”
10 The men who studied the stars replied, “There is no one on the earth who can do what you ask! There is no king, [even] a great and mighty king, who has [ever] asked his men who work magic or his fortune-tellers or men who study the stars to do something like that!
அதற்குச் சோதிடர் அரசனிடம், “அரசர் கேட்கும் இதைச் செய்யக்கூடியவன் பூமியில் ஒருவனும் இல்லை. மேன்மையும், வல்லமையும் உள்ள எந்த அரசனும், இப்படியான செயலைச் செய்யும்படி மந்திரவாதிகளிடமோ, மாந்திரீகரிடமோ, சோதிடரிடமோ ஒருபோதும் கேட்டதில்லை.
11 What you are asking [us to do] is impossible. Only the gods can tell you what you dreamed, and they do not live among us!”
ஏனெனில் அரசர் கேட்பது மிகக் கடினமானது. மனிதனால் அல்ல, தெய்வங்களால்தான் இதை அரருக்கு வெளிப்படுத்த முடியும். தெய்வங்கள் மனிதர் மத்தியில் வாழ்வதில்லை என்றார்கள்.”
12 The king was very angry when he heard that, so he commanded [his soldiers] that they execute all such wise men in Babylon.
இது அரசனுக்குக் கோபத்தையும், ஆத்திரத்தையும் மூட்டியது. அதனால் பாபிலோனில் இருக்கும் எல்லா ஞானிகளுக்கும், மரண தண்டனை கொடுக்கும்படி அரசன் கட்டளையிட்டான்.
13 And because of what the king commanded, they sent some men to find me and my [three] friends, to execute us [also].
அப்படியே ஞானிகள் கொலைசெய்யப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற கட்டளை பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டது. அப்போது தானியேலையும் அவனுடைய நண்பர்களையும் தேடி, கொலை செய்யும்படி மனிதர் அனுப்பப்பட்டார்கள்.
14 Arioch, the commander of the king’s guards, came to kill us. But I spoke to him very wisely and tactfully/skillfully.
பாபிலோனின் ஞானிகளைக் கொலை செய்யும்படி, அரச காவல் தளபதியான ஆரியோக் போகையில், தானியேல் அவனுடன் ஞானத்தோடும், சாதுரியத்தோடும் பேசினான்.
15 I asked Arioch, “Why has the king made such a harsh/terrible decree?” So Arioch told me all that had happened [because of the king’s dream].
அவன் அரச அதிகாரியிடம், “அரசனால் ஏன் இவ்வளவு கடுமையான ஆணை பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டது?” எனக் கேட்டான். அப்பொழுது ஆரியோக், காரியத்தை தானியேலுக்கு விளக்கிக் கூறினான்.
16 I [immediately] went to talk to the king and requested that the king give me some time, so that I could find out [what the dream was and] what the dream meant.
அதனைக் கேட்டதும் தானியேல் அரசனிடம் உள்ளே போய் கனவையும், அதன் விளக்கத்தையும் சொல்லுவதற்கு அவனுக்கு ஒரு காலக்கெடு தரும்படிக் கேட்டான்.
17 Then I went home, and I told my friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, what had happened.
பின்பு தானியேல் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிவந்து, நடந்தவற்றைத் தன் நண்பர்களான அனனியா, மீஷாயேல், அசரியா ஆகியோருக்கு விளக்கிக் கூறினான்.
18 I urged them to ask God, who lives/rules in heaven, to have mercy on us by telling us the secret [meaning of what the king dreamed], in order that we and the other wise men in Babylon would not be executed.
பாபிலோனின் மற்ற ஞானிகளுடன், தானியேலும் தனது நண்பர்களும் கொலைசெய்யப்படாதிருப்பதற்கு, இந்த மறைபொருளை வெளிப்படுத்தும்படி பரலோகத்தின் இறைவனிடம் இரக்கத்துக்காக மன்றாடுங்கள் என அவர்களைத் தூண்டினான்.
19 And that night [God] gave to me a vision in which he revealed the secret. Then I praised God,
இரவுவேளையில் ஒரு தரிசனத்தின் மூலமாகத் தானியேலுக்கு அந்த மறைபொருள் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. அப்பொழுது தானியேல் பரலோகத்தின் இறைவனைத் துதித்து,
20 saying, “We should praise God [MTY] forever, because [only] he truly is wise and powerful.
அவன் சொன்னதாவது: “இறைவனின் பெயர் என்றென்றும் துதிக்கப்படுவதாக; ஞானமும், வல்லமையும் அவருடையவையே.”
21 He determines what events will happen through the years. He removes [some] kings and gives their authority to [new] kings. He is the one who causes people to become wise and enables those who study to understand [many] things.
காலங்களையும் பருவகாலங்களையும் மாற்றுகிறார் அவரே; அரசர்களை விலக்கி, மாற்று அரசர்களை ஏற்படுத்துகிறவர் அவரே. அவரே ஞானிகளுக்கு ஞானத்தையும், அறிவாளிகளுக்கு அறிவையும் கொடுப்பவர் அவரே.
22 He reveals things that are very mysterious; he is surrounded by light, but he knows things that are hidden [as though they were] in the darkness.
ஆழமானதும் மறைவானதுமானவற்றை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறவர் அவரே; இருளில் உள்ளதை அவர் அறிகிறார், ஒளியும் அவருடன் தங்கியிருக்கிறது.
23 God, whom my ancestors [worshiped], I thank you and I praise you, because you have caused me to be wise and made me strong. You have told me what my friends and I asked you to tell us; and you have revealed to us what the king demanded to know.”
என் முற்பிதாக்களின் இறைவனே, உமக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தி, உம்மைத் துதிக்கிறேன். நீர் எனக்கு ஞானமும், வல்லமையும் தந்திருக்கிறீர். “நாங்கள் உம்மிடம் கேட்டதை எனக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறீர். அரசனின் கனவை நீர் எங்களுக்குத் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறீர்.”
24 Then I went to Arioch, the man whom the king had appointed to execute the wise men in Babylon. I said to him, “Do not kill those wise men. Take me to the king, and I will tell him what his dream means.”
பாபிலோனின் ஞானிகளுக்கு மரண தண்டனை நிறைவேற்றும்படி, அரசனால் நியமிக்கப்பட்ட ஆரியோகிடம் தானியேல் போய், “நீர் பாபிலோன் ஞானிகளை மரண தண்டனைக்குள்ளாக்க வேண்டாம். என்னை அரசனிடம் அழைத்துச் செல்லும். அரசனுடைய கனவின் விளக்கத்தை நான் அவருக்குச் சொல்வேன் என்றான்.”
25 So Arioch quickly took me to the king. He said to the king, “I have found [this man], one of the men whom we brought from Judah who [says he can] can tell you what your dream means!”
ஆரியோக் உடனே தானியேலை அரசனிடம் அழைத்துச்சென்று, “உமது கனவுக்கான விளக்கத்தைச் சொல்லக்கூடிய ஒருவனை, யூதா நாட்டிலிருந்து நாடுகடத்தப்பட்டவர்களில் கண்டுபிடித்தேன் என்றான்.”
26 The king said to me, whose [new] name was Belteshazzar, “[Is this true]? Can you tell me what I dreamed and what it means?”
அப்பொழுது அரசன், பெல்தெஷாத்சார் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்ட தானியேலிடம், “எனது கனவில் எதைக் கண்டேன் என்று சொல்லவும், அதன் விளக்கத்தைக் கூறவும் உன்னால் முடியுமா?” என்று கேட்டான்.
27 I replied, “There are no wise men or fortune-tellers or men who work magic or men who work sorcery who can tell such things to you.
அதற்குத் தானியேல் அரசனிடம், “அரசர் வெளிப்படுத்துபடி கேட்டிருக்கும் இந்த மறைபொருளை அரசருக்கு விளக்கிக்கூற எந்த ஞானியாலோ, மந்திரவாதியாலோ, மாந்திரீகனாலோ, குறிசொல்கிறவர்களாலோ முடியாது.
28 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. And he has shown in [your dream] what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you what you dreamed, the vision you saw [as you were lying] on your bed.
ஆனால் அரசே, மறைபொருட்களை வெளிப்படுத்துகிற ஒரு இறைவன் பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கிறார். வரப்போகும் நாட்களில் நிகழப்போவதை அவரே நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் அரசருக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார். நீர் படுக்கையில் படுத்திருந்தபோது, நீர் கண்ட கனவும், உமது மனதைக் கடந்துசென்ற தரிசனங்களும் இவையே:
29 O King, while you were sleeping, you dreamed about events that will happen in the future. The one who reveals mysteries has shown you what is going to happen.
“அரசே, நீர் படுத்திருக்கையில் வரப்போகும் காரியங்களை உமது மனம் சிந்திக்கத் தொடங்கியது. அந்நேரத்தில் மறைபொருட்களை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறவர், இனி நிகழப்போவது என்ன என்பதை உமக்குக் காண்பித்தார்.
30 And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else on earth that I know the meaning of this mysterious dream. It is because God wanted you to understand what you were thinking.
என்னைப் பொறுத்தவரையில் வாழ்கின்ற மற்ற மனிதர்களைவிட நான் மிகுந்த ஞானமுள்ளவன் என்பதால் எனக்கு இந்தக் கனவின் மறைபொருள் வெளிப்படுத்தப்படவில்லை; அரசராகிய நீர் அதற்குரிய விளக்கத்தை அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படியும், உமது மனதில் கடந்துசென்றவற்றை நீர் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளும்படியுமே இந்த கனவின் மறைபொருள் எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
31 O King, [in your vision] you saw in front of you a huge and terrifying statue [of a man. It was] shining very brightly, and it was frightening and awesome.
“அரசே, நீர் பார்த்தபோது ஒரு பெரிய சிலை உமக்கு முன்பாக நிற்பதைக் கண்டீர். அது மிகப்பெரியதாயும், மினுங்கிக்கொண்டும் இருந்தது. அது தோற்றத்தில் பயங்கரமானதாயும் இருந்தது.
32 The head of the statue was [made] of pure gold. Its chest and arms [were made of] silver. Its belly and thighs [were made of] bronze.
அச்சிலையின் தலை சுத்தத் தங்கத்தினால் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது. மார்பும், புயங்களும் வெள்ளியினாலும், வயிறும் தொடைகளும், வெண்கலத்தினாலும் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தன.
33 Its legs [were made of] iron, and its feet were a mixture of clay and iron.
அதன் கால்கள் இரும்பினாலும், பாதங்களின் ஒரு பகுதி இரும்பினாலும் மறுபகுதி சுடப்பட்ட களிமண்ணினாலும் செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பதையும் கண்டீர்.
34 As you watched, something cut a rock [from a mountain, but it was] not a human [who cut it]. The rock [tumbled down and] smashed the feet of the statue, feet [that were made of] iron and clay. It smashed them to bits.
நீர் கவனித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, ஒரு பாறாங்கல் வெட்டியெடுக்கப்பட்டது. ஆயினும் மனித கைகளினால் அல்ல; அந்தக் கல், இரும்பினாலும் களிமண்ணினாலும் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்த அந்தச் சிலையின் பாதங்களில் மோதி அதை நொறுக்கிப்போட்டது.
35 Then the rest of the statue collapsed into a big heap of iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold. The pieces of the statue were as small as bits of chaff on the ground where it is threshed, and the wind blew away all the tiny pieces. There was nothing left. But the rock that smashed the statue became a large mountain that covered the whole earth.
அதே வேளையிலே, அதில் இருந்த இரும்பும், களிமண்ணும், வெண்கலமும், வெள்ளியும், தங்கமும் துண்டுகளாக உடைக்கப்பட்டு, கோடைகாலத்தில் சூடடிக்கும் களத்திலிருக்கும் பதரைப்போலாகியது. காற்று அவற்றை இருந்த இடமே தெரியாதபடி வாரிக்கொண்டு போனது. ஆனால் சிலையை மோதிய அந்த பாறாங்கல்லோ, மிகப்பெரிய மலையாகி பூமி முழுவதையும் நிரப்பிற்று.
36 That was what you dreamed. Now I will tell you what it means.
“கனவு இதுவே. இதன் விளக்கத்தையும் இப்பொழுது நாம் அரசருக்குத் தெரிவிப்போம்.
37 You are a king [who rules] over [many other] kings. The God who rules in heaven has caused you to rule over them and has given you great power [DOU] and has honored you.
அரசே நீர் அரசர்களுக்கெல்லாம் அரசராய் இருக்கிறீர். பரலோகத்தின் இறைவன் உமக்கு ஆளுகையையும், அதிகாரத்தையும், வல்லமையையும், மகிமையையும் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.
38 He has caused you to be the ruler over all people, and [even] the animals and birds are controlled by you. [So] the head [of the statue] represents you.
மனுக்குலத்தையும், வெளியின் மிருகங்களையும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளையும் அவர் உமது கைகளில் தந்திருக்கிறார். அவர்கள் எங்கு வாழ்ந்தாலும், எல்லோருக்கும் மேலாக ஆளுநராக அவர் உம்மையே ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறார். தங்கத்தினாலான அந்தத் தலை நீரே.
39 But after your [kingdom/rule] ends, there will be another [great] kingdom, [but it] will not be as great as yours. [The silver parts of the statue represent that kingdom]. Then there will be a third [great] kingdom [whose king] will rule over the whole earth. The bronze parts [of the statue represent] that kingdom.
“உமக்குப்பின் உம்முடைய ஆட்சியைவிட தரம் குறைந்த ஒரு அரசு தோன்றும். அதற்கு அடுத்ததாக, வெண்கலத்தினாலான மூன்றாவது அரசு உலகம் முழுவதையும் ஆட்சிசெய்யும்.
40 After that kingdom ends, there will be a fourth [great] kingdom. The iron [parts of the statue represent that kingdom]. [The army of] that kingdom will smash the previous kingdoms, just like iron smashes everything that it strikes.
கடைசியாக, இரும்பைப்போன்ற பலமான ஒரு நான்காம் அரசு தோன்றும். இரும்பு எல்லாவற்றையும் நொறுக்குவதால் இவ்வரசும் இரும்பு பொருட்களைத் துண்டு துண்டாக்குவதுபோல், மற்ற அரசுகளையும் துண்டுதுண்டாக நொறுக்கிப்போடும்.
41 The feet and toes of the statue that you saw, that were a mixture of iron and clay, indicate that the kingdom they represent will [later] be divided.
பாதங்களும், கால் விரல்களும் பாதிகளிமண்ணும், பாதி இரும்புமாய் இருக்கக் கண்டதுபோலவே இதுவும் ஒரு பிளவுபட்ட அரசாயிருக்கும். ஆயினும், களிமண்ணோடு இரும்பு கலந்திருக்க நீர் கண்டபடியே, இரும்பினுடைய வலிமையில் கொஞ்சம் அதிலும் இருக்கும்.
42 Some parts of that kingdom will be as strong as iron, but some parts will not remain together, just as iron and clay do not stick together.
கால்விரல்கள் பாதி இரும்பும், பாதி களிமண்ணுமாயிருந்தது போலவே, அந்த அரசும் பாதி பலமுடையதாயும், பாதி பலமற்றதாயும் இருக்கும்.
43 The mixture of iron and clay [in the statue] shows also that the rulers of those kingdoms that separate from each other will try to form alliances with each other as a result of members of the royal families of those kingdoms marrying each other. But that will not succeed, just as iron and clay do not stick together.
இரும்பு களிமண்ணோடே கலந்திருக்க நீர் கண்டதுபோலவே, மக்கள் மற்றவர்களோடு கலப்பினமாக இருப்பார்கள். ஆனாலும் களிமண்ணோடு இரும்பு கலவாததுபோலவே, அவர்களும் ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளாதிருப்பார்கள்.
44 But while those kings are ruling, God who rules in heaven will establish a kingdom that will never end. No one will ever defeat its king. He will completely destroy all those kingdoms, but his kingdom will remain forever.
“அந்த அரசர்களின் நாட்களில் பரலோகத்தின் இறைவன் அரசு ஒன்றை எழும்பப்பண்ணுவார். அது அழிக்கப்படவோ, அந்த அரசு வேறு மக்களுக்கு விடப்படவோ மாட்டாது. அது அந்த அரசுகளையெல்லாம் நொறுக்கி அழித்துவிடும். ஆயினும் அதுவோ என்றென்றைக்கும் நிலைத்து நிற்கும்.
45 That is the meaning of the rock that something cut from the mountain, the rock that will crush to tiny bits the statue that is made of iron, bronze, silver, and gold. O king, the great God has shown you what will truly happen in the future. And you can trust [what I told you about] the meaning of the dream.”
மனித கையால் வெட்டியெடுக்கப்படாமல் மலையிலிருந்து பெயர்த்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட, பாறாங்கல்லைப் பற்றிய தரிசனத்தின் அர்த்தம் இதுவே. அந்தக் கல்லே இரும்பையும், வெண்கலத்தையும், களிமண்ணையும், வெள்ளியையும், தங்கத்தையும் துண்டுதுண்டுகளாக நொறுக்கிப்போட்டது. “மகத்துவமான இறைவன், எதிர்காலத்தில் நிகழப்போவதை அரசருக்குக் காட்டியிருக்கிறார். கனவு உண்மையானது. விளக்கமும் நம்பத்தக்கது என்றான்.”
46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar prostrated himself in front of me [in great respect]. He commanded [his people] that they burn incense and burn an offering of grain to honor me.
அப்பொழுது நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் அரசன், தானியேலுக்கு முன் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து அவனுக்கு மரியாதை செலுத்தி, அவனுக்குக் காணிக்கை செலுத்தவும், தூபங்காட்டவும் கட்டளையிட்டான்.
47 The king said to me, “[Your God has enabled] you to tell me the meaning of this dream/mystery, so now I truly know that your God is greater than all the other gods and all other kings. He reveals [to people] things that they cannot know.”
அவன் தானியேலிடம், “உன்னால் இந்த மறைபொருளை வெளிப்படுத்தக் கூடியதாய் இருந்தபடியால், நிச்சயமாகவே உன் இறைவனே தெய்வங்களுக்கெல்லாம் இறைவனும், அரசர்களுக்கெல்லாம் ஆண்டவரும், மறைபொருளை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறவருமாய் இருக்கிறார் என்றான்.”
48 Then the king gave many gifts to me, and he [also] appointed me to rule over the entire province of Babylon, and [also] to be the boss of all his wise men.
பின்பு அரசன் தானியேலை ஒரு உயர்ந்த பதவியில் அமர்த்தி, அநேக சிறந்த அன்பளிப்புகளையும் கொடுத்தான். அவனைப் பாபிலோன் மாகாணம் முழுவதற்கும் ஆளுநனாக்கி, அதன் எல்லா ஞானிகளுக்கும் அவனைப் பொறுப்பாகவும் நியமித்தான்.
49 I asked the king to appoint Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to [also] have important positions in Babylon province, and the king did what I asked him to do. But [I did my work while] I stayed at the king’s palace.
