1 Samuel 12

1 Then Samuel said this to all the Israeli people: “I have done everything that you told me to do, and I have given/appointed a king to rule you.

۱ و سموئیل به تمامی بنی‌اسرائیل گفت: «اینک قول شما را در هرآنچه به من گفتید، شنیدم و پادشاهی بر شما نصب نمودم.

2 My own sons [are grown up and] with you now, but I have appointed Saul [instead of one of them], and he is now your leader. I am now old, and my hair is gray. I have been your leader ever since I was a boy.

۲ وحال اینک پادشاه پیش روی شما راه می‌رود و من پیر و مو سفید شده‌ام، و اینک پسران من با شمامی باشند، و من از جوانیم تا امروز پیش روی شماسلوک نموده‌ام.

3 Now tell me, while Yahweh is listening, and while the king whom he has chosen is listening: whose ox or donkey have I stolen [during all those years]? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed/treated badly? From whom have I accepted a bribe, in order that I would ignore [the evil things he had done]? If I have done any of those things, tell me, and I will pay back what I owe.”

۳ اینک من حاضرم، پس به حضور خداوند و مسیح او بر من شهادت دهید که گاو که را گرفتم؟ و الاغ که را گرفتم و بر که ظلم نموده، که را ستم کردم و از دست که رشوه گرفتم تا چشمان خود را به آن کور سازم و آن را به شمارد نمایم.»

4 They replied, “[No, ] you have never cheated anyone or oppressed anyone or accepted a bribe from anyone.”

۴ گفتند: «بر ما ظلم نکرده‌ای و بر ما ستم ننموده‌ای و چیزی از دست کسی نگرفته‌ای.»

5 Then Samuel said, “Today Yahweh can testify, and the king whom you chose can testify, that I have not taken a bribe from anyone.” They replied, “Yes, Yahweh can say that he knows that is true.”

۵ به ایشان گفت: «خداوند بر شماشاهد است و مسیح او امروز شاهد است که چیزی در دست من نیافته‌اید.» گفتند: «او شاهداست.»

6 Samuel continued by saying, “Yahweh is the one who appointed Moses and Aaron [to lead] our ancestors. He is the one who brought them out of Egypt. [And he is the one who will testify that what I am saying is true].

۶ و سموئیل به قوم گفت: «خداوند است که موسی و هارون را مقیم ساخت و پدران شما را اززمین مصر برآورد.

7 Now while Yahweh is listening, stand here quietly while I accuse you [and tell you that your requesting a king instead of trusting Yahweh to lead you was wrong]. I will do that by reminding you of all the great miracles that Yahweh performed for you and your ancestors.

۷ پس الان حاضر شوید تا به حضور خداوند با شما درباره همه اعمال عادله خداوند که با شما و با پدران شما عمل نمود، محاجه نمایم.

8 [“Many years] after Jacob went to Egypt, our ancestors pleaded to Yahweh to help them. So Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron to them, and they led our ancestors out of Egypt, and eventually they settled in this land.

۸ چون یعقوب به مصر آمد وپدران شما نزد خداوند استغاثه نمودند، خداوندموسی و هارون را فرستاد که پدران شما را از مصربیرون آورده، ایشان را در این مکان ساکن گردانیدند.

9 “But our ancestors soon forgot about Yahweh, their God. So he allowed Sisera, the commander of the army from Hazor, to defeat them. He also allowed the Philistines and the army of the king of Moab to fight our ancestors and defeat them.

۹ و چون یهوه خدای خود را فراموش کردند ایشان را به‌دست سیسرا، سردار لشکرحاصور، و به‌دست فلسطینیان و به‌دست پادشاه موآب فروخت که با آنها جنگ کردند.

10 Then our ancestors pleaded with Yahweh again to help them. They admitted, ‘Yahweh, we have sinned, and we have forsaken you. We have worshiped [idols that represent the god] Baal and [the goddess] Astarte. But if you rescue us from our enemies, we will worship you only.’

۱۰ پس نزدخداوند فریاد برآورده، گفتند: «گناه کرده‌ایم زیراخداوند را ترک کرده بعلیم و عشتاروت را عبادت نموده‌ایم، و حال ما را از دست دشمنان ما رهایی ده و تو را عبادت خواهیم نمود.

11 So Yahweh sent men such as Gideon, Barak, Jephthah, and me to save you. And as a result, you did not have to worry about any enemies attacking you.

۱۱ پس خداوندیربعل و بدان و یفتاح و سموئیل را فرستاده، شمارا از دست دشمنان شما که در اطراف شما بودند، رهانید و در اطمینان ساکن شدید.

12 “But now, when king Nahash of Ammon came [with his army] to attack you, [you were afraid. So], you [came to me, and] said, ‘We want a king to rule us,’ even though Yahweh was already your king!

۱۲ و چون دیدید که ناحاش، پادشاه بنی عمون، بر شمامی آید به من گفتید: نی بلکه پادشاهی بر ماسلطنت نماید، و حال آنکه یهوه، خدای شما، پادشاه شما بود.

13 So now, look, here is the king whom you have chosen. You asked for a king, and Yahweh has now appointed a king for you.

۱۳ و الان اینک پادشاهی که برگزیدید و او را طلبیدید. و همانا خداوند بر شماپادشاهی نصب نموده است.

14 If you will revere Yahweh and if you serve him, and if you listen to what he says and obey what he commands, and if you and the king who rules over you do what Yahweh your God wants you to do, [(things will go well for you all/Yahweh will bless you)].

۱۴ اگر از خداوندترسیده، او را عبادت نمایید و قول او را بشنوید واز فرمان خداوند عصیان نورزید، و هم شما و هم پادشاهی که بر شما سلطنت می‌کند، یهوه، خدای خود را پیروی نمایید خوب.

15 But if you do not listen to what Yahweh says, if you disobey what he commands, then he will punish [MTY] you all, just as he punished our ancestors.

۱۵ و اما اگر قول خداوند را نشنوید و از فرمان خداوند عصیان ورزید، آنگاه دست خداوند چنانکه به ضد پدران شما بود، به ضد شما نیز خواهدبود.

16 “Now stand here quietly and see the great thing that Yahweh is about to do.

۱۶ پس الان بایستید و این کار عظیم را که خداوند به نظر شمابجا می‌آورد، ببینید.

17 You know that [RHQ] [it does not rain at this time of the year], during the time when you harvest wheat. But I will ask Yahweh to send thunder [and lightning] and rain today. When he does that, you will realize that Yahweh considers that you have done a very wicked thing by requesting a king.”

۱۷ آیا امروز وقت درو گندم نیست؟ از خداوند استدعا خواهم نمود و اورعدها و باران خواهد فرستاد تا بدانید و ببینید که شرارتی که از طلبیدن پادشاه برای خود نمودیددر نظر خداوند عظیم است.»

18 Then Samuel prayed to Yahweh, and Yahweh caused it to thunder [and lightning] and rain. So all the people became very afraid of Yahweh and of Samuel.

۱۸ پس سموئیل ازخداوند استدعا نمود و خداوند در همان روزرعدها و باران فرستاد، و تمامی قوم از خداوند وسموئیل بسیار ترسیدند.

19 They cried out to Samuel, “Pray for us! We have added to our previous sins by requesting a king! Pray to Yahweh, your God, in order that we will not die [because of having done that]!”

۱۹ و تمامی قوم به سموئیل گفتند: «برای بندگانت از یهوه، خدای خود استدعا نما تانمیریم، زیرا که بر تمامی گناهان خود این بدی راافزودیم که برای خود پادشاهی طلبیدیم.»

20 Samuel replied, “Do not be afraid! You have done this evil thing, but do not turn away from doing the things that Yahweh wants you to do. Instead, serve Yahweh wholeheartedly.

۲۰ وسموئیل به قوم گفت: «مترسید! شما تمامی این بدی را کرده‌اید، لیکن از پیروی خداوندبرنگردید، بلکه خداوند را به تمامی دل خودعبادت نمایید.

21 Do not abandon [Yahweh] and worship useless idols. They cannot help you or save you [from your enemies], because they are truly useless.

۲۱ و در عقب اباطیلی که منفعت ندارد و رهایی نتواند داد، چونکه باطل است، برنگردید.

22 Yahweh decided to make us his people. So he will not abandon us people whom he has chosen, because he would injure his own reputation [of being completely faithful] if he did that.

۲۲ زیرا خداوند به‌خاطر نام عظیم خود قوم خود را ترک نخواهد نمود، چونکه خداوند را پسند آمد که شما را برای خود قومی سازد.

23 But as for me, I have solemnly promised that I will not sin against Yahweh by ceasing to pray for you. And I will continue to teach you what things are good and right [for you to do].

۲۳ و اما من، حاشا از من که به خداوند گناه ورزیده، ترک دعا کردن برای شما نمایم، بلکه راه نیکو و راست را به شما تعلیم خواهم داد.

24 But you must revere Yahweh and serve him wholeheartedly. Never forget all the great things that he has done for you.

۲۴ لیکن از خداوند بترسید و او را به راستی به تمامی دل خود عبادت نمایید و در کارهای عظیمی که برای شما کرده است، تفکر کنید.

25 But if you keep doing wicked things, he will get rid of you and your king!”

۲۵ و اما اگر شرارت ورزید، هم شما و هم پادشاه شما، هلاک خواهیدشد.»
