1 Chronicles 6
1 Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
Filii Levi: Gerson, Caath, et Merari.
2 Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
Filii Caath: Amram, Isaar, Hebron, et Oziel.
3 Amram’s children were Miriam and [her younger brothers] Aaron and Moses. Aaron’s sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Filii Amram: Aaron, Moyses, et Maria. Filii Aaron: Nadab et Abiu, Eleazar, et Ithamar.
4 Eleazar was the father of Phinehas. Phinehas was the father of Abishua.
Eleazar genuit Phinees, et Phinees genuit Abisue.
5 Abishua was the father of Bukki. Bukki was the father of Uzzi.
Abisue vero genuit Bocci, et Bocci genuit Ozi.
6 Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah. Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth.
Ozi genuit Zaraiam, et Zaraias genuit Meraioth.
7 Meraioth was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.
Porro Meraioth genuit Amariam, et Amarias genuit Achitob.
8 Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz.
Achitob genuit Sadoc, et Sadoc genuit Achimaas,
9 Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan.
Achimaas genuit Azariam, Azarias genuit Johanan,
10 Johanan was the father of Azariah. Azariah was a priest in the temple that Solomon commanded to be built in Jerusalem.
Johanan genuit Azariam: ipse est qui sacerdotio functus est in domo quam ædificavit Salomon in Jerusalem.
11 Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub.

12 Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum.
Achitob genuit Sadoc, et Sadoc genuit Sellum,
13 Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah.
Sellum genuit Helciam, et Helcias genuit Azariam,
14 Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.
Azarias genuit Saraiam, et Saraias genuit Josedec.
15 Jehozadak was forced to leave his home when Yahweh sent [King] Nebuchadnezzar’s [army] [MTY] to capture many people in Jerusalem and other places in Judah and compel them [to go to Babylonia].
Porro Josedec egressus est, quando transtulit Dominus Judam et Jerusalem per manus Nabuchodonosor.
16 Levi’s sons were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

17 Gershon’s sons were Libni and Shimei.

18 Kohath’s sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

19 Merari’s sons were Mahli and Mushi. Here is a list of the descendants of Levi, who became leaders of their clans.
Filii Merari: Moholi et Musi. Hæ autem cognationes Levi secundum familias eorum.
20 Gershon’s [oldest] son was Libni. Libni’s son was Jehath. Jehath’s son was Zimmah.
Gersom: Lobni filius ejus, Jahath filius ejus, Zamma filius ejus,
21 Zimmah’s son was Joah. Joah’s son was Iddo. Iddo’s son was Zerah. Zerah’s son was Jeatherai.
Joah filius ejus, Addo filius ejus, Zara filius ejus, Jethrai filius ejus.
22 Kohath’s [other] son was Amminadab. Amminadab’s son was Korah. Korah’s son was Assir.
Filii Caath: Aminadab filius ejus, Core filius ejus, Asir filius ejus,
23 Assir’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph’s son was Assir.
Elcana filius ejus, Abiasaph filius ejus, Asir filius ejus,
24 Assir’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Uriel. Uriel’s son was Uzziah. Uzziah’s son was Shaul.
Thahath filius ejus, Uriel filius ejus, Ozias filius ejus, Saul filius ejus.
25 Elkanah’s [other] sons were Amasai and Ahimoth.
Filii Elcana, Amasai et Achimoth
26 Ahimoth’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Zophai. Zophai’s son was Nahath.

27 Nahath’s son was Eliab. Eliab’s son was Jeroham. Jeroham’s son was Elkanah. Elkanah’s son was Samuel.

28 Samuel’s oldest son was Joel; his other son was Abijah.
Filii Samuel: primogenitus Vasseni, et Abia.
29 Merari’s oldest son was Mahli. Mahli’s son was Libni. Libni’s son was Shimei. Shimei’s son was Uzzah.
Filii autem Merari, Moholi: Lobni filius ejus, Semei filius ejus, Oza filius ejus,
30 Uzzah’s son was Shimea. Shimea’s son was Haggiah. Haggiah’s son was Asaiah.
Sammaa filius ejus, Haggia filius ejus, Asaia filius ejus.
31 After the Sacred Chest was brought [to Jerusalem, King] David appointed some of the men who were descendants of Levi to be in charge of the music in [the Sacred Tent where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
Isti sunt quos constituit David super cantores domus Domini, ex quo collocata est arca:
32 Those musicians first sang and played their instruments in the Sacred Tent, which was also called the Tent of Meeting, and they continued to do that until Solomon’s [workers] built the temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem. In all their work, they obeyed the instructions [that David had given them].
et ministrabant coram tabernaculo testimonii, canentes donec ædificaret Salomon domum Domini in Jerusalem: stabant autem juxta ordinem suum in ministerio.
33 Here is a list of the musicians and their sons: From Kohath’s descendants there was Heman, the leader of the singers. Heman was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Samuel.

34 Samuel was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Jeroham. Jeroham was the son of Eliel. Eliel was the son of Toah.

35 Toah was the son of Zuph. Zuph was the son of Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Mahath. Mahath was the son of Amasai.
filii Suph, filii Elcana, filii Mahath, filii Amasai,
36 Amasai was the son of [another man whose name was] Elkanah. Elkanah was the son of Joel. Joel was the son of Azariah. Azariah was the son of Zephaniah.
filii Elcana, filii Johel, filii Azariæ, filii Sophoniæ,
37 Zephaniah was the son of Tahath. Tahath was the son of Assir. Assir was the son of Ebiasaph. Ebiasaph was the son of Korah.
filii Thahath, filii Asir, filii Abiasaph, filii Core,
38 Korah was the son of Izhar. Izhar was the son of Kohath. Kohath was the son of Levi. Levi was the son of Jacob.
filii Isaar, filii Caath, filii Levi, filii Israël.
39 Heman’s helper was Asaph. His group [of singers] stood at the right side of Heman. Asaph was the son of Berekiah. Berekiah was the son of Shimea.

40 Shimea was the son of Michael. Michael was the son of Baaseiah. Baaseiah was the son of Malkijah.
filii Michaël, filii Basaiæ, filii Melchiæ,
41 Malkijah was the son of Ethni. Ethni was the son of Zerah. Zerah was the son of Adaiah.
filii Athanai, filii Zara, filii Adaia,
42 Adaiah was the son of Ethan. Ethan was the son of Zimmah. Zimmah was the son of Shimei.
filii Ethan, filii Zamma, filii Semei,
43 Shimei was the son of Jahath. Jahath was the son of Gershon, and Gershon was the son of Levi.
filii Jeth, filii Gersom, filii Levi.
44 [A group of singers from] Merari’s family helped Heman and Asaph. They stood to the left of Heman. The leader of this group was Ethan, the son of Kishi. Kishi was the son of Abdi. Abdi was the son of Malluch.
Filii autem Merari fratres eorum, ad sinistram, Ethan filius Cusi, filii Abdi, filii Maloch,
45 Malluch was the son of Hashabiah. Hashabiah was the son of Amaziah. Amaziah was the son of Hilkiah.
filii Hasabiæ, filii Amasiæ, filii Helciæ,
46 Hilkiah was the son of Amzi. Amzi was the son of Bani. Bani was the son of Shemer.
filii Amasai, filii Boni, filii Somer,
47 Shemer was the son of Mahli. Mahli was the son of Mushi. Mushi was the son of Merari, and Merari was the son of Levi.
filii Moholi, filii Musi, filii Merari, filii Levi.
48 The other descendants of Levi were appointed to do other work in the sacred tent, the place [where the people worshiped] Yahweh.
Fratres quoque eorum Levitæ, qui ordinati sunt in cunctum ministerium tabernaculi domus Domini.
49 Aaron and his descendants were the ones who placed on the altar the sacrifices that were to be burned completely, and they burned incense on another altar. Those sacrifices were in order that Yahweh would no longer be angry with the people of Israel for having sinned. Those men also did other work in the Very Holy Place in the sacred tent, obeying the instructions that Moses, who served God [well], had given to them.
Aaron vero et filii ejus adolebant incensum super altare holocausti, et super altare thymiamatis, in omne opus Sancti sanctorum: et ut precarentur pro Israël juxta omnia quæ præceperat Moyses servus Dei.
50 These were the descendants of Aaron: Aaron’s son was Eleazar. Eleazar’s son was Phinehas. Phinehas’s son was Abishua.
Hi sunt autem filii Aaron: Eleazar filius ejus, Phinees filius ejus, Abisue filius ejus,
51 Abishua’s son was Bukki. Bukki’s son was Uzzi. Uzzi’s son was Zerahiah.

52 Zerahiah’s son was Meraioth. Meraioth’s son was Amariah. Amariah’s son was Ahitub.

53 Ahitub’s son was Zadok, and Zadok’s son was Ahimaaz.
Sadoc filius ejus, Achimaas filius ejus.
54 Here is a list of the places where Aaron’s descendants lived. Those who were descendants of Kohath were the first group to be allotted cities to live in.
Et hæc habitacula eorum per vicos atque confinia, filiorum scilicet Aaron, juxta cognationes Caathitarum: ipsis enim sorte contigerant.
55 They were allotted Hebron [city] in Judah and the pastureland around the city,
Dederunt igitur eis Hebron in terra Juda, et suburbana ejus per circuitum:
56 but the fields farther from the city and the villages near the city were given to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh.
agros autem civitatis, et villas, Caleb filio Jephone.
57 The descendants of Aaron [who were descendants of Kohath] were allotted Hebron, one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone]. They also were allotted the towns and pastureland near Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,
Porro filiis Aaron dederunt civitates ad confugiendum Hebron, et Lobna, et suburbana ejus,
58 Hilen, Debir,
Jether quoque, et Esthemo cum suburbanis suis, sed et Helon, et Dabir cum suburbanis suis,
59 Ashan, Juttah, and Beth-Shemesh.
Asan quoque, et Bethsemes, et suburbana earum.
60 They were also allotted Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth [cities] from the tribe of Benjamin. Altogether, these clans descended from Kohath were allotted 13 towns.
De tribu autem Benjamin, Gabee et suburbana ejus, et Almath cum suburbanis suis, Anathoth quoque cum suburbanis suis: omnes civitates, tredecim, per cognationes suas.
61 The other clans descended from Kohath were allotted ten towns from the clans of the tribe of Manasseh [that lived west of the Jordan River].
Filiis autem Caath residuis de cognatione sua dederunt ex dimidia tribu Manasse in possessionem urbes decem.
62 The descendants of Gershon were allotted 13 cities and towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived in [the] Bashan [region on the east side of the Jordan River].
Porro filiis Gersom per cognationes suas de tribu Issachar, et de tribu Aser, et de tribu Nephthali, et de tribu Manasse in Basan, urbes tredecim.
63 The descendants of Merari were allotted twelve cities and towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
Filiis autem Merari per cognationes suas de tribu Ruben, et de tribu Gad, et de tribu Zabulon, dederunt sorte civitates duodecim.
64 The leaders of Israel allotted those towns and the nearby pasturelands to the descendants of Levi.
Dederunt quoque filii Israël Levitis civitates, et suburbana earum:
65 They also allotted to them the cities and towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin that were listed previously.
dederuntque per sortem, ex tribu filiorum Juda, et ex tribu filiorum Simeon, et ex tribu filiorum Benjamin urbes has, quas vocaverunt nominibus suis,
66 Some of the descendants of Kohath were allotted towns from the tribe of Ephraim.
et his, qui erant de cognatione filiorum Caath, fueruntque civitates in terminis eorum de tribu Ephraim.
67 They were allotted Shechem, which was one of the cities [to which people could flee] and be protected [if they accidentally killed someone], along with the nearby pastureland in the hills of Ephraim. They were also allotted these towns and pastureland near them: Gezer,
Dederunt ergo eis urbes ad confugiendum, Sichem cum suburbanis suis in monte Ephraim, et Gazer cum suburbanis suis,
68 Jokmeam, Beth-Horon,
Jecmaam quoque cum suburbanis suis, et Bethoron similiter,
69 Aijalon, and Gath-Rimmon.
necnon et Helon cum suburbanis suis, et Gethremmon in eumdem modum.
70 The other descendants of Kohath were allotted Aner and Bileam towns and the nearby pastureland from the part of the tribe of Manasseh that lived west [of the Jordan River].
Porro ex dimidia tribu Manasse, Aner et suburbana ejus, Balaam et suburbana ejus: his videlicet, qui de cognatione filiorum Caath reliqui erant.
71 The descendants of Gershon, who were part of the tribe of Manasseh, lived east [of the Jordan River]. They were allotted the cities and towns and pastureland near them: Golan in [the] Bashan and Ashtaroth [regions].
Filiis autem Gersom de cognatione dimidiæ tribus Manasse, Gaulon in Basan, et suburbana ejus, et Astaroth cum suburbanis suis.
72 From the tribe of Issachar they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh, Daberath,
De tribu Issachar, Cedes et suburbanis suis, et Dabereth cum suburbanis suis,
73 Ramoth, and Anem.
Ramoth quoque et suburbana ejus, et Anem cum suburbanis suis.
74 From the tribe of Asher they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Mashal, Abdon,
De tribu vero Aser: Masal cum suburbanis suis, et Abdon similiter,
75 Hukok, and Rehob.
Hucac quoque et suburbana ejus, et Rohob cum suburbanis suis.
76 And from the tribe of Naphtali they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Kedesh in [the] Galilee [region], and Hammon and Kiriathaim [towns].
Porro de tribu Nephthali, Cedes in Galilæa et suburbana ejus, Hamon cum suburbanis suis, et Cariathaim et suburbana ejus.
77 The other descendants of Levi, those descended from Merari, were allotted towns and pasturelands from the tribe of Zebulun near Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmono, and Tabor.
Filiis autem Merari residuis: de tribu Zabulon, Remmono et suburbana ejus, et Thabor cum suburbanis sus:
78 From the tribe of Reuben they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Bezer in the desert, Jahzah, Kedemoth, and Mephaath. The tribe of Reuben lived east of the Jordan [River], across from Jericho.
trans Jordanem quoque ex adverso Jericho contra orientem Jordanis, de tribu Ruben, Bosor in solitudine cum suburbanis suis, et Jassa cum suburbanis suis,
Cademoth quoque et suburbana ejus, et Mephaat cum suburbanis suis.
80 From the tribe of Gad, they were allotted cities and towns and pastureland near Ramoth in [the] Gilead [region], [the cities of] Mahanaim,
Necnon et de tribu Gad, Ramoth in Galaad et suburbana ejus, et Manaim cum suburbanis suis,
81 Heshbon, and Jazer.
sed et Hesebon cum suburbanis suis, et Jezer cum suburbanis suis.
