1 Chronicles 13
1 [One day] David talked with all his army officers. Some of them were commanders of 100 soldiers and some were commanders of 1,000 soldiers.
Đa-vít hội nghị với quan tướng ngàn quân, quan tướng trăm quân, cùng các quan trưởng của dân.
2 Then he summoned the other Israeli leaders and said to all of them, “If it seems to you to be a good thing for us to do, and if it is what Yahweh our God wants, let’s send a message to our fellow Israelis in all the areas of our country, including the priests and [other] descendants of Levi who are living among them in their towns and in the nearby pasturelands, to come and join us,
Đa-vít nói với cả hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Nếu các ngươi lấy điều nầy làm tốt lành, và nếu sự nầy do nơi Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta mà đến, thì ta hãy sai người đi khắp mọi nơi, đến cùng anh em chúng ta còn lại ở khắp xứ Y-sơ-ra-ên, và đến cùng những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi ở trong các thành địa hạt chúng, để nhóm chúng lại cùng ta;
3 because we want to bring the Sacred Chest of our God back to us. While Saul [was the king], we did not go to God’s presence to ask him what we should do.”
rồi chúng ta phải thỉnh hòm của Đức Chúa Trời về cùng chúng ta; vì trong đời Sau-lơ, chúng ta không có đến trước hòm giao ước mà cầu vấn Đức Chúa Trời.
4 All the people agreed with David, because they all thought that it was the right thing to do.
Cả hội chúng đều nói rằng nên làm như vậy; vì cả dân sự lấy lời ấy làm tốt lành.
5 So David gathered all the Israeli people, from the Shihor [River] in Egypt to Lebo-Hamath [town in the north, and told them that he wanted them] to [help] bring the Sacred Chest of God [back to Jerusalem] from Kiriath-Jearim [city].
Đa-vít bèn nhóm cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, từ Si-ho, khe Ê-díp-tô, cho đến nơi nào Ha-mát, để rước hòm của Đức Chúa Trời từ Ki-ri-át-Giê-a-rim về.
6 David went with all the Israeli people to Baalah [town], which is [another name for] Kiriath-Jearim, to get the Sacred Chest. [The people believed that] God ruled from between the statues of winged creatures that was above the lid of the Sacred Chest [MTY].
Đa-vít và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đồng đi lên Ba-a-la, tại Ki-ri-át-Giê-a-rim, thuộc về Giu-đa, đặng rước hòm của Đức Chúa Trời lên, tức là Đức Giê-hô-va ngự giữa Chê-ru-bin, là nơi cầu khẩn danh của Ngài.
7 The people put the Sacred Chest on a new cart and transported it from Abinadab’s house. Uzzah and Ahio were guiding [the oxen that were pulling the cart].
Chúng rước hòm giao ước của Đức Chúa Trời từ nhà A-bi-na-đáp, để lên trên một cái cộ mới; còn U-xa và A-hi-ô thì dắt cộ.
8 David and all the Israeli people were celebrating in God’s presence with all their strength. They were singing and [playing] lyres, harps, tambourines, and cymbals, and [blowing] trumpets.
Đa-vít và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều hết sức vui chơi trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời, xướng ca, dùng đàn cầm, đàn sắt, trống nhỏ, chập chỏa, và kèn mà vui mừng.
9 But when David’s men came to the place where Kidon threshed grain, the oxen stumbled. So Uzzah reached out with his hand to prevent the Sacred Chest from falling off the cart.
Khi chúng đến sân đạp lúa của Ki-đôn, U-xa bèn giơ tay ra nắm lấy hòm, bởi vì bò trợt bước.
10 Yahweh immediately became very angry with Uzzah, and he caused Uzzah to suddenly die there because he had put his hand on the Sacred Chest, [and Yahweh had commanded that only the descendants of Levi who help the priests should touch the Sacred Chest].
cơn thịnh nộ của Đức Giê-hô-va nổi lên cùng U-xa, và Ngài đánh người, bởi vì người có giơ tay ra trên hòm; người bèn chết tại đó trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời.
11 David was angry because Yahweh had punished [MTY] Uzzah. And now that place [where Uzzah died] is called ‘The Punishment of Uzzah’.
Đa-vít chẳng vừa ý, vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã hành hạ U-xa; người gọi nơi ấy là Bê-rết-U-xa, hãy còn gọi vậy cho đến ngày nay.
12 That day, David was afraid of God. He asked [himself], “(How can I bring God’s Sacred Chest to my [city]?/I am afraid to bring God’s Sacred Chest to my [city].)” [RHQ]
Trong ngày ấy, Đa-vít lấy làm sợ hãi Đức Chúa Trời, mà nói rằng: Ta rước hòm của Đức Chúa Trời vào nhà ta sao được?
13 So the men with David did not take the Sacred Chest to Jerusalem. Instead, they took it to the house of Obed-Edom, who was from Gath [city].
Vậy, Đa-vít không thỉnh hòm về nhà mình tại trong thành Đa-vít, nhưng biểu đem để vào nhà Ô-bết-Ê-đôm, là người Gát.
14 The Sacred Chest stayed with Obed-Edom’s family in his house for three months. And [during that time] Yahweh blessed Obed-Edom’s family and everything that he owned.
Hòm của Đức Chúa Trời ở ba tháng trong nhà Ô-bết-Ê-đôm; Đức Giê-hô-va ban phước cho nhà Ô-bết-Ê-đôm và mọi vật thuộc về người.
