19 Her husband Joseph, being righteous and not willing to shame her publicly, intended to send her away privately.

20 But as he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, Son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as yoʋr wife, for the child that is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:

24 When Joseph awoke from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him. He took his wife,

But he did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to a son. Then he called his name Jesus.
