Acts 10
1 Now there was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort.
૧હવે કાઈસારિયામાં કર્નેલ્યસ નામે એક માણસ ઇટાલિયન નામે ઓળખાતી પલટણનો સૂબેદાર હતો.
2 He was a devout man who feared God along with his entire household; he gave generously to those in need and always prayed to God.
૨તે તથા તેનાં ઘરનાં સર્વ માણસો ઈશ્વરનો ભય રાખતાં હતાં. તે લોકોને ઘણાં દાન આપતો અને નિત્ય ઈશ્વરની પ્રાર્થના કરતો હતો.
3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God, who came in and said to him, “Cornelius!”
૩તેણે એક દિવસ બપોરે આશરે ત્રણ કલાકે દર્શનમાં ઈશ્વરના સ્વર્ગદૂતને પોતાની પાસે આવતો, તથા પોતાને, ઓ કર્નેલ્યસ, એમ કહેતો પ્રત્યક્ષ જોયો.
4 Staring at him intently, Cornelius was afraid and said, “What is it, Lord?” The angel said to him, “Yoʋr prayers and charitable acts have ascended as a memorial offering before God.
૪ત્યારે સ્વર્ગદૂતની સામે એક નજરે જોઈ રહીને તથા ભયભીત થઈને તેણે કહ્યું કે, પ્રભુ શું છે? સ્વર્ગદૂતે કહ્યું કે, તારી પ્રાર્થનાઓ તથા તારાં દાન ઈશ્વરની આગળ યાદગીરીને સારુ પહોંચ્યાં છે.
5 Now send men to Joppa and have them bring back Simon, who is called Peter.
૫હવે તું જોપ્પામાં માણસો મોકલીને સિમોન, જેનું બીજું નામ પિતર છે, તેને તેડાવ.
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the sea.”
૬સિમોન ચમાર, કે જેનું ઘર સમુદ્રકિનારે છે, તેને ત્યાં તે અતિથિ છે.
7 When the angel who spoke to him went away, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among his attendants.
૭જે સ્વર્ગદૂતે તેની સાથે વાત કરી હતી, તેના અદ્રશ્ય થઈ ગયા પછી કર્નેલ્યસે પોતાના ઘરના ચાકરોમાંના બેને, તથા જેઓ સતત તેની સમક્ષ હાજર રહેતા હતા તેઓમાંના ઈશ્વરમાં શ્રદ્ધાળુ એક સિપાઈને બોલાવ્યા.
8 After explaining everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
૮અને તેઓને બધી વાત કહીને તેણે તેઓને જોપ્પામાં મોકલ્યા.
9 On the next day, as the men were traveling along and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about the sixth hour.
૯હવે તેને બીજે દિવસે તેઓ ચાલતાં ચાલતાં શહેરની પાસે આવી પહોંચ્યા, તેવામાં આશરે બપોરના સમયે પિતર પ્રાર્થના કરવાને ઘરની અગાશી પર ગયો.
10 He became hungry and wanted to eat, and as they were preparing a meal, a trance fell upon him.
૧૦તે ભૂખ્યો થયો, અને તેને ભોજન કરવાની ઇચ્છા થઈ; પરંતુ તેઓ રસોઈ તૈયાર કરતા હતા તે સમયે પિતર મૂર્છાગત થયો;
11 He saw heaven opened and an object like a large sheet coming down to him. It was tied at its four corners and was being lowered to the earth.
૧૧અને સ્વર્ગ ખુલ્લું થયેલું તથા મોટી ચાદરનાં જેવું એક વાસણ તેના ચાર ખૂણાથી લટકાવેલું ધરતી પર ઊતરી આવતું તેણે નિહાળ્યું.
12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, as well as wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
૧૨તેમાં પૃથ્વી પરનાં સર્વ જાતનાં ચોપગા તથા પેટે ચાલનારાં પ્રાણીઓ તથા આકાશનાં પક્ષીઓ હતાં.
13 Then a voice came to him: “Rise, Peter, kill and eat.”
૧૩ત્યારે એવી વાણી તેના સાંભળવામાં આવી કે, પિતર, ઊઠ; મારીને ખા.
14 But Peter said, “Surely not, Lord! For I have never eaten anything that is defiled or unclean.”
૧૪પણ પિતરે કહ્યું કે, પ્રભુ, એમ તો નહિ; કેમ કે કોઈ નાપાક કે અશુદ્ધ વસ્તુ મેં કદી ખાધી નથી.
15 The voice came to him again a second time: “Do not regard as defiled what God has made clean.”
૧૫ત્યારે બીજી વાર તેના સાંભળવામાં એવી વાણી આવી કે, ઈશ્વરે જે શુદ્ધ કર્યું છે, તેને તું અશુદ્ધ ન ગણ.
16 This happened three times, and then the object was taken up again into heaven.
૧૬એમ ત્રણ વાર થયું; પછી તરત તે વાસણ સ્વર્ગમાં પાછું ખેંચી લેવામાં આવ્યું.
17 While Peter was greatly perplexed, pondering within himself what the vision he had seen might mean, behold, the men sent by Cornelius had asked for Simon's house and were standing at the gate.
૧૭હવે આ જે દર્શન મને થયું છે તેનો શો અર્થ હશે, એ વિષે પિતર બહુ મૂંઝાતો હતો એવામાં, જુઓ, કર્નેલ્યસે મોકલેલા માણસો સિમોનનું ઘર પૂછતાં પૂછતાં બારણા આગળ આવીને ઊભા રહ્યા.
18 They called out and asked if Simon, who was called Peter, was staying there.
૧૮તેઓએ હાંક મારીને પૂછ્યું કે, સિમોન, જેનું બીજું નામ પિતર છે, તે શું અહીં રોકાયેલ છે?
19 As Peter continued pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, some men are looking for yoʋ.
૧૯હવે પિતર તે દર્શન વિષે વિચાર કરતો હતો ત્યારે આત્માએ તેને કહ્યું કે, જો, ત્રણ માણસો તને શોધે છે.
20 Now get up, go downstairs, and go with them without any misgivings, for I have sent them.”
૨૦માટે તું ઊઠ અને નીચે ઊતરીને કંઈ સંદેહ રાખ્યા વિના તેઓની સાથે જા, કેમ કે મેં તેઓને મોકલ્યા છે.
21 So Peter went down to the men and said, “Behold, I am the one you are looking for. For what reason have you come?”
૨૧ત્યારે પિતર ઊતરીને તે માણસો પાસે ગયો, અને કહ્યું કે, જુઓ, જેને તમે શોધો છો તે હું છું, તમે શા માટે આવ્યા છો?
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the entire Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for yoʋ to come to his house and to hear a message from yoʋ.”
૨૨ત્યારે તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, કર્નેલ્યસ નામે એક સેનાપતિ જે ન્યાયી તથા ઈશ્વરનું સન્માન જાળવનાર વ્યક્તિ છે, અને તેને વિષે આખી યહૂદી કોમ સારું બોલે છે, તેને પવિત્ર સ્વર્ગદૂતની મારફતે આજ્ઞા મળી છે કે તે તને તેના ઘરે તેડાવીને તારી વાતો સાંભળે.
23 So Peter invited them in and put them up for the night. The next day Peter went with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
૨૩ત્યારે તેણે તેઓને અંદર બોલાવીને મહેમાન તરીકે ઘરમાં રાખ્યા. બીજા દિવસે તે તેઓની સાથે ગયો, અને જોપ્પામાંનાં કેટલાક ભાઈઓ પણ તેની સાથે ગયા.
24 The following day they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
૨૪બીજે દિવસે તેઓ કાઈસારિયા આવી પહોંચ્યા, તે સમયે કર્નેલ્યસ પોતાનાં સગાંઓને તથા પ્રિય મિત્રોને એકત્ર કરીને તેઓની રાહ જોતો હતો.
25 When Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him, fell at his feet, and worshiped him.
૨૫પિતર અંદર આવ્યો ત્યારે કર્નેલ્યસ તેને મળ્યો, અને તેના ચરણે ઝૂકીને દંડવત પ્રણામ કર્યા.
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am just a man.”
૨૬પણ પિતરે તેને ઉઠાડીને કહ્યું કે, ઊભો થા, હું પણ માણસ છું.
27 As Peter talked with him, he went in and found many people gathered together.
૨૭તેની સાથે વાત કરતાં કરતાં પિતર અંદર ગયો, ત્યારે તેણે ઘણાંને એકઠાં થયેલાં જોયાં;
28 Peter said to them, “You know that it is forbidden for a Jewish man to keep company with or associate with a foreigner, but God has shown me that I should call no one defiled or unclean.
૨૮તેણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, તમે પોતે જાણો છો કે બીજી જાતિના માણસોની સાથે સંબંધ રાખવો, અથવા તેના ત્યાં જવું, એ યહૂદી માણસને માટે યોગ્ય નથી; પણ ઈશ્વરે મને બતાવ્યું છે કે, મારે કોઈ વ્યક્તિને અપવિત્ર અથવા અશુદ્ધ ગણવી નહિ.
29 That is why I came without objection when I was sent for. I ask then, what is the reason you have sent for me?”
૨૯તેથી જ જ્યારે તમે મને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું ત્યારે કંઈ આનાકાની કર્યા વગર હું આવ્યો; માટે હું પૂછું છું કે, તમે શા કારણથી મને બોલાવ્યો છે?
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago I was fasting until this hour. At the ninth hour I was praying in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing.
૩૦કર્નેલ્યસે કહ્યું કે, ચાર દિવસ પહેલાં હું આ જ સમયે મારા ઘરમાં બપોરના ત્રણ કલાકે પ્રાર્થના કરતો હતો; ત્યારે જુઓ, તેજસ્વી પોશાક પહેરેલા એક માણસને મેં મારી સામે ઊભો રહેલો જોયો;
31 The man said, ‘Cornelius, yoʋr prayer has been heard, and yoʋr charitable acts have been remembered before God.
૩૧તે બોલ્યો કે, કર્નેલ્યસ, તારી પ્રાર્થના સાંભળવામાં આવી છે, અને તારાં દાન ઈશ્વરની સમક્ષ સ્મરણમાં આવ્યાં છે.
32 Therefore send to Joppa and ask for Simon, who is called Peter. He is staying by the sea in the house of a tanner named Simon. When he arrives, he will speak to yoʋ.’
૩૨માટે તું માણસને જોપ્પામાં મોકલીને સિમોન, જેનું બીજુ નામ પિતર છે, તેને તારી પાસે બોલાવ; તે સમુદ્રના કિનારે સિમોન ચમારના નિવાસસ્થાને અતિથિ છે.
33 So I sent for yoʋ at once, and yoʋ have done well by coming. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that yoʋ have been commanded by God.”
૩૩માટે મેં તરત તને બોલાવ્યો; અને તું આવ્યો તે તેં બહુ સારું કર્યું. હવે પ્રભુએ જે વાતો તને ફરમાવી છે, તે સર્વ સાંભળવા સારુ અમે સઘળા અહીં ઈશ્વરની સમક્ષ ઉપસ્થિત થયા છીએ.
34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, “Now I truly understand that God shows no partiality,
૩૪ત્યારે પિતરે પ્રવચન શરૂ કરતાં કહ્યું કે. હવે હું નિશ્ચે સમજું છું કે ઈશ્વર પક્ષપાતી નથી;
35 but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.
૩૫પણ દરેક દેશમાં જે કોઈ તેમનું સન્માન જાળવે છે, અને ન્યાયીપણે વર્તે છે, તેઓ તેમને માન્ય છે.
36 You yourselves know the message he sent to the sons of Israel, preaching the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all,
૩૬ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત જે સર્વનાં પ્રભુ છે તેમની મારફતે શાંતિની સુવાર્તા પ્રગટ કરતા ઈશ્વરે ઇઝરાયલપુત્રોની પાસે જે વાત મોકલી,
37 the message that spread throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:
૩૭એટલે યોહાને બાપ્તિસ્મા પ્રગટ કર્યા પછી ગાલીલથી શરૂ કરીને આખા યહૂદિયામાં જે વાત જાહેર કરવામાં આવી તે તમે પોતે જાણો છો;
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, who then went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
૩૮એટલે કે નાસરેથના ઈસુની વાત કે જેમને પરમેશ્વરે પવિત્ર આત્માથી તથા સામર્થ્યથી અભિષિક્ત કર્યા; તે ભલું કરતા તથા શેતાનથી જેઓ પીડાતા હતા તેઓ સર્વને સાજાં કરતા ફર્યા; કેમ કે ઈશ્વર તેમની સાથે હતા.
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a cross,
૩૯તેમણે યહૂદીઓના પ્રાંતમાં તથા યરુશાલેમમાં જે કાર્યો કર્યા તે સર્વના અમે સાક્ષી છીએ; વળી તેમને તેઓએ વધસ્તંભ પર જડીને મારી નાખ્યા.
40 but God raised him up on the third day and allowed him to be seen,
૪૦તેમને ઈશ્વરે ત્રીજા દિવસે સજીવન કર્યા, અને સર્વ લોકોની આગળ નહિ,
41 not by all the people, but by us, the witnesses who had been chosen beforehand by God, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
૪૧પણ અગાઉથી ઈશ્વરના પસંદ કરેલા સાક્ષીઓ, જેઓએ તેમના મૃત્યુમાંથી સજીવન થયા પછી તેમની સાથે ખાધું પીધું હતું તેઓની આગળ, એટલે અમારી આગળ, તેમને પ્રગટ કર્યા.
42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one who has been appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead.
૪૨તેમણે અમને આજ્ઞા આપી કે લોકોને ઉપદેશ કરો, અને સાક્ષી આપો કે, ઈશ્વર એમને જ જીવતાંના તથા મૂએલાંના ન્યાયાધીશ નીમ્યા છે.
43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives remission of sins through his name.”
૪૩તેમને વિષે સર્વ પ્રબોધકો સાક્ષી આપે છે કે જે કોઈ તેમના પર વિશ્વાસ કરે છે તે તેમના નામથી પાપની માફી પામશે.
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.
૪૪પિતર એ વાતો કહેતો હતો એટલામાં જે લોકો વાત સાંભળતાં હતા તે સર્વ ઉપર પવિત્ર આત્માએ આચ્છાદન કર્યું.
45 All the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were astonished, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was being poured out even on the Gentiles.
૪૫ત્યારે બિનયહૂદીઓ પર પણ પવિત્ર આત્માનું દાન રેડાયું છે એ જોઈને સુન્નતીઓમાંના જે વિશ્વાસીઓ પિતરની સાથે આવ્યા હતા તે સર્વ વિસ્મય પામ્યા.
46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter responded,
૪૬કેમ કે તેઓને અન્ય ભાષાઓમાં બોલતા, તથા ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરતા તેઓએ સાંભળ્યાં. ત્યારે પિતરે ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે,
47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?”
૪૭“આપણી માફક તેઓ પણ પવિત્ર આત્મા પામ્યા છે, તો તેઓને પાણીનું બાપ્તિસ્મા આપવાને કોણ મના કરી શકે?”
48 So he gave orders to have them baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.
૪૮તેણે ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તને નામે તેઓને બાપ્તિસ્મા આપવાની આજ્ઞા આપી, પછી તેઓએ કેટલાક દિવસ ત્યાં રહેવાની તેને વિનંતી કરી.
