Luke 19
1 And as Jesus entered and passed through Jericho,
൧അവൻ യെരിഹോവിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച് അതിൽകൂടി കടന്നു പോവുകയായിരുന്നു.
2 there was a certain man, whose name was Zaccheus, who was rich, and chief of the publicans;
൨അവിടെ ചുങ്കക്കാരിൽ പ്രമാണിയും ധനവാനുമായ സക്കായി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
3 and he wished to see Jesus, who he was; and could not, on account of the crowd; because Zaccheus was small in stature.
൩യേശു ആരാണ് എന്നു കാണ്മാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു എങ്കിലും അവന് ഉയരം കുറവായിരുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് പുരുഷാരം നിമിത്തം കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.
4 And he ran forward of Jesus, and climbed a wild fig-tree, in order to see him; for he was to pass that way.
൪അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൻ മുമ്പോട്ടു ഓടി, അവനെ കാണേണ്ടതിന് ഒരു കാട്ടത്തിമേൽ കയറി. യേശു ആ വഴിയായി വരികയായിരുന്നു.
5 And when Jesus came to the place, he saw him, and said to him: Make haste and come down, Zaccheus; for I must be at thy house to-day.
൫യേശു ആ സ്ഥലത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ മുകളിലേക്കു നോക്കി: സക്കായിയേ, വേഗം ഇറങ്ങിവാ; ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ താമസിക്കാൻ വരുന്നു എന്നു അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
6 And he hastened, and came down, and received him with gladness.
൬അവൻ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഇറങ്ങി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ യേശുവിനെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
7 And when they all saw it, they murmured, and said: He hath gone in to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
൭അത് കണ്ടവർ എല്ലാം: അവൻ പാപിയായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനോടു കൂടെ താമസിക്കുവാൻ പോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു പിറുപിറുത്തു.
8 And Zaccheus stood up, and said to Jesus: Behold, my Lord, the half of my riches I give to the poor; and to every man, whom I have wronged in any thing, I restore fourfold.
൮സക്കായി കർത്താവിനോട്: കർത്താവേ, എന്റെ വസ്തുവകയിൽ പകുതി ഞാൻ ദരിദ്രർക്ക് കൊടുക്കുന്നു; എന്തെങ്കിലും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ചതിച്ച് വാങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ നാലുമടങ്ങ് തിരിച്ചുക്കൊടുക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 Jesus said to him: This day, life is to this house; for he also is a son of Abraham.
൯യേശു അവനോട്: ഇവനും അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ മകൻ ആകയാൽ ഇന്ന് ഈ വീടിന് രക്ഷ വന്നു.
10 For the Son of man came, to seek and to vivify that which was lost.
൧൦കാണാതെപോയതിനെ കണ്ടുപിടിച്ചു രക്ഷിക്കാനാണ് മനുഷ്യപുത്രൻ വന്നത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 And when they heard these things, he proceeded to utter a similitude; because he was near to Jerusalem, and they supposed that the kingdom of God was to be soon developed.
൧൧പുരുഷാരം ഇതു കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യേശു യെരൂശലേമിന് അടുത്ത് എത്തി. ദൈവരാജ്യം ഉടനെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമാകും എന്നു അവർ ചിന്തിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ട് യേശു അവരോട് ഒരു ഉപമ പറഞ്ഞു:
12 And he said: A certain man of high birth was going to a distant place, to obtain royalty, and return again.
൧൨രാജാവായി മടങ്ങിവരേണം എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു ഒരു പ്രഭു ദൂരദേശത്തേക്ക് യാത്രപോയി.
13 And he called his ten servants, and gave them ten pounds: and he said to them, Traffic until I come.
൧൩അവൻ പത്തു ദാസന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു അവർക്ക് പത്തുറാത്തൽ വെള്ളികൊടുത്തു ഞാൻ വരുന്നതുവരെ അവയുമായി വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്യുക എന്നു അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
14 But the inhabitants of his city hated him; and they sent envoys after him, saying: We wish this man not to reign over us.
൧൪അവന്റെ പ്രജകൾക്ക് അവനോട് താല്പര്യമില്ലായിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പ്രതിനിധികളെ അയച്ചിട്ട് അവൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു സമ്മതമല്ല എന്നു അറിയിപ്പിച്ചു.
15 And when he had obtained the royalty, and had returned, he commanded those servants to be called, to whom he had committed his money; that he might know what each of them had gained by trading.
൧൫അവൻ രാജാവായി തിരിച്ചുവന്നപ്പോൾ താൻ പണം കൊടുത്തിരുന്ന ദാസന്മാർ വ്യാപാരം ചെയ്തു എന്ത് നേടി എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന് അവരെ വിളിക്കുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
16 And the first came, and said: My Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
൧൬ഒന്നാമത്തെ ആൾ അടുത്തുവന്നു; കർത്താവേ, നീ തന്ന റാത്തൽകൊണ്ടു പത്തുറാത്തൽ സമ്പാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
17 He said to him: Well done, good servant! As thou hast been faithful over a little, thou shalt have authority over ten towns.
൧൭അവൻ അവനോട്: വളരെ നല്ലത്. നീ ഒരു നല്ല ദാസൻ ആകുന്നു. ചെറിയ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽ നീ വിശ്വസ്തൻ ആയതുകൊണ്ട് പത്തു പട്ടണത്തിന് അധികാരമുള്ളവൻ ആയിരിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
18 And the second came, and said: My lord, thy pound hath produced five pounds.
൧൮രണ്ടാമത്തെ ആൾ വന്നു: കർത്താവേ, നീ തന്ന റാത്തൽകൊണ്ടു അഞ്ച് റാത്തൽ സമ്പാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 He said likewise to him: Thou also shalt have authority over five towns.
൧൯നീയും അഞ്ച് പട്ടണത്തിന് അധികാരമുള്ളവൻ ആയിരിക്ക എന്നു അവൻ അവനോട് കല്പിച്ചു.
20 And another came, and said: My lord, lo, this is thy pound, which hath been with me, laid up in fine linen.
൨൦മറ്റൊരാൾ വന്നു: കർത്താവേ, ഇതാ നിന്റെ റാത്തൽ; ഞാൻ അത് ഒരു തൂവാലയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു വെച്ചിരുന്നു.
21 For I was afraid of thee, because thou art a hard man, and takest up that which thou layedst not down, and reapest that which thou sowedst not.
൨൧നീ വെയ്ക്കാത്തത് എടുക്കുകയും വിതയ്ക്കാത്തത് കൊയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന കഠിനമനുഷ്യൻ ആകുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 He said to him: Out of thy own mouth will I judge thee, thou evil servant. Thou knewest me, that I am a hard man, and that I take up what I laid not down, and reap what I sowed not!
൨൨അവൻ അവനോട്: ദുഷ്ടനായ ദാസനേ, നിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കൊണ്ടുതന്നേ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ന്യായംവിധിക്കും. ഞാൻ വെയ്ക്കാത്തത് എടുക്കുകയും വിതയ്ക്കാത്തത് കൊയ്യുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന കഠിനമനുഷ്യൻ എന്നു നീ അറിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.
23 Why didst thou not put my money into the broker's hands, that when I came, I might have demanded it with interest?
൨൩ഞാൻ വന്നു എന്റെ ദ്രവ്യം പലിശയോടുകൂടെ വാങ്ങിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അത് നാണ്യപീഠത്തിൽഏല്പിക്കാഞ്ഞത് എന്ത്?
24 And he said to them that stood before him: Take from him the pound, and give it to him with whom are the ten pounds.
൨൪പിന്നെ അവൻ അരികെ നില്ക്കുന്നവരോട്: ആ റാത്തൽ അവന്റെ പക്കൽ നിന്നു എടുത്തു പത്തു റാത്തലുള്ളവന് കൊടുക്കുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
25 They say to him: Our lord, there are with him ten pounds.
൨൫കർത്താവേ, അവന് പത്തു റാത്തൽ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
26 He said to them: I tell you, that to every one that hath, will be given; and from him that hath not, even what he hath will be taken away.
൨൬ഉള്ളവന് പിന്നെയും കൊടുക്കും, ഇല്ലാത്തവനോട് ഉള്ളതുംകൂടെ എടുത്തുകളയും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
27 But as for those my enemies, who would not have me to reign over them, bring them and slay them before me.
൨൭എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ രാജാവ് ആകുന്നതു സമ്മതമില്ലാത്ത ശത്രുക്കളായവരെ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവച്ചു കൊന്നുകളയുവിൻ എന്ന് അവൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
28 And when Jesus had spoken these things, he went forward, to go to Jerusalem.
൨൮ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് യേശു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്ക് അവർക്ക് മുമ്പായി യാത്രചെയ്തു.
29 And when he arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, near to the mount called the place of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,
൨൯അവൻ ഒലിവുമലയരികെ ബേത്ത്ഫഗയ്ക്കും ബേഥാന്യയ്ക്കും സമീപെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരെ അയച്ചു:
30 and said to them: Go ye to the village that is over against us, and as ye enter it, ye will find a colt tied, on which no man ever rode; loose him and bring him.
൩൦നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എതിരെയുള്ള ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; അവിടെ എത്തുമ്പോൾ ആരും ഒരിക്കലും കയറിയിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു കഴുതക്കുട്ടിയെ കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നത് കാണും; അതിനെ അഴിച്ച് കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ.
31 And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? say to him: Our Lord needeth him.
൩൧അതിനെ അഴിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന് എന്നു ആരെങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളോടു ചോദിച്ചാൽ: കർത്താവിന് ഇതിനെക്കൊണ്ട് ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ട് എന്നു പറവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32 And they went who were sent, and they found, as he said to them.
൩൨യേശു അയച്ച ആ രണ്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പോയി തങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ കണ്ട്.
33 And as they loosed the colt, the owner of him said to them: Why do ye loose that colt?
൩൩കഴുതക്കുട്ടിയെ അഴിക്കുമ്പോൾ അതിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥൻ: കഴുതക്കുട്ടിയെ അഴിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്:
34 And they said: Because our Lord needeth him.
൩൪കർത്താവിന് ഇതിനെക്കൊണ്ട് ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ട് എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
35 And they brought him to Jesus. And they cast their garments upon the colt, and set Jesus upon him.
൩൫അതിനെ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം കഴുതക്കുട്ടിമേൽ ഇട്ട് യേശുവിനെ കയറ്റി.
36 And as he went, they spread their garments in the way.
൩൬അവൻ പോകുമ്പോൾ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം വഴിയിൽ വിരിച്ചു.
37 And when he came near to the descent of the place of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice, and to praise God, with a loud voice, for all the mighty deeds which they had seen.
൩൭യേശു ഒലിവുമലയുടെ ഇറക്കത്തിന് അടുത്തപ്പോൾ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ എല്ലാം തങ്ങൾ കണ്ട സകല വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളെയും കുറിച്ച് സന്തോഷിച്ച് അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തി:
38 And they said: Blessed be the king, that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory on high.
൩൮കർത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വരുന്ന രാജാവ് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ; സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ സമാധാനവും അത്യുന്നതങ്ങളിൽ മഹത്വവും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
39 And some of the Pharisees from among the crowd, said to him: Rabbi, rebuke thy disciples.
൩൯പുരുഷാരത്തിൽ ചില പരീശന്മാർ അവനോട്: ഗുരോ, നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ ശാസിക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
40 He said to them: I tell you, that, if these should be silent, the stones would cry out.
൪൦അതിന് അവൻ: ഇവർ മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നാൽ കല്ലുകൾ ആർത്തുവിളിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
41 And as he drew near, and beheld the city, he wept over it:
൪൧അവൻ യെരുശലേം നഗരത്തിന് സമീപെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അതിനെ കണ്ട് അതിൽ താമസിക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങളെ ഓർത്തു കരഞ്ഞു:
42 and said: O, hadst thou known the things that are of thy peace, at least in this thy day: but now they are hidden from thy eyes.
൪൨ഈ ദിവസമെങ്കിലും നിനക്ക് സമാധാനം ലഭിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു നീ അറിഞ്ഞ് എങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളാമായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അത് നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന് മറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
43 For the days will come upon thee, when thy enemies will encompass thee, and besiege thee on every side.
൪൩നിന്റെ സന്ദർശനകാലം നിനക്ക് അറിയില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾ നിനക്ക് ചുറ്റും ഒരു തടസ്സം ഉണ്ടാക്കി നിന്നെ വളഞ്ഞു നാല് വശത്ത് നിന്നും ഞെരുക്കി,
44 And they will destroy thee, and thy children within thee; and will not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
൪൪നിന്നെയും ഇവിടെ താമസിക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങളെയും നിലത്തു തള്ളിയിട്ട്, അങ്ങനെ നിന്നിൽ കല്ലിന്മേൽ കല്ല് ശേഷിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്ന കാലം നിനക്ക് വരും.
45 And when he entered the temple, he began to expel those who bought and sold in it.
൪൫പിന്നെ അവൻ ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് അവിടെ കച്ചവടം നടത്തിയവരെ പുറത്താക്കി:
46 And he said to them: It is written, My house is a house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of robbers.
൪൬എന്റെ ആലയം പ്രാർത്ഥനാലയം ആകും എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളോ അതിനെ കള്ളന്മാരുടെ ഗുഹ ആക്കിത്തീർത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
47 And he taught daily in the temple: and the chief priests and Scribes and Elders of the people, sought to destroy him.
൪൭അവൻ എല്ലാ ദിവസവും ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ മഹാപുരോഹിതരും ശാസ്ത്രികളും ജനത്തിൽ പ്രധാനികളായവരും അവനെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ അവസരം നോക്കി.
48 But they found not, what they could do to him; for all the people hung upon him to hear him.
൪൮എങ്കിലും ജനം എല്ലാം വളരെ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അവന്റെ വചനം കേട്ട് കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാൽ എന്ത് ചെയ്യേണം എന്നവർ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
