Philippians 1

1 PAULOS and Timotheus, servants of Jeshu the Meshiha, to all the saints who are in Jeshu Meshiha at Philipos, with the presbyters and deacons.

Paulus og Timoteus, Kristi Jesu tenarar, til alle dei heilage i Kristus Jesus, som er i Filippi, med tilsynsmenner og tenarar for kyrkjelyden:

2 Grace be with you and peace from Aloha our Father, and from our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.

Nåde vere med dykk og fred frå Gud, vår Fader, og Herren Jesus Kristus!

3 I offer thanks unto Aloha upon the remembrance of you constantly,

Eg takkar min Gud so tidt eg tenkjer på dykk,

4 in all my prayers on your behalf; and while rejoicing,

med di eg alltid, kvar gong eg bed, gjer mi bøn for dykk alle med gleda,

5 I pray, for your fellowship which is in the gospel from the first day until now;

på grunn av dykkar samfund med meg i arbeidet for evangeliet frå fyrste dagen og alt til no.

6 because I am confident of this, that he who hath begun good workings in you will himself make perfect until the day of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.

Og eg er fullvis um dette, at han som tok til med ei god gjerning i dykk, skal fullføra henne alt til Jesu Kristi dag,

7 For so it is right for me to think concerning you all, because you are laid up in my heart; and in my bonds, and in the defence of the truth of the gospel, you are partakers with me in grace.

liksom det er rett av meg å tenkja so um dykk alle, etter di eg ber dykk i hjarta både i mine lekkjor, og når eg forsvarar og stadfester evangeliet, sidan de alle er luthavande med meg i nåden.

8 For Aloha is my witness how I love you with the bowels of Jeshu Meshiha.

For Gud er mitt vitne, kor eg lengtar etter dykk alle med Kristi Jesu hjartelag.

9 And this I pray, that your love may still increase and abound in knowledge and in all spiritual understanding;

Og dette bed eg um, at dykkar kjærleik endå må verta alt rikare og rikare på kunnskap og skynsemd,

10 that you may distinguish those things that are proper, and may be pure and without offence in the day of the Meshiha,

at de må kunna døma um dei ymse ting, so de kann vera reine og ikkje til meinstøyt til Kristi dag,

11 and filled with the fruits of righteousness which are in Jeshu Meshiha, to the glory and the honour of Aloha.

fyllte med rettferds frukt, som er verka ved Jesus Kristus, Gud til æra og lov.

12 BUT I wish you to know, my brethren, that my business tendeth the more to the forwarding of the gospel.

Eg vil at de skal vita, brør, at min lagnad heller hev vore til framgang for evangeliet,

13 For so also my bonds are manifest for the Meshiha in the whole palace, and unto all besides.

so det hev vorte kunnigt for heile livvakti og for alle andre, at eg er i lekkjor for Kristi skuld,

14 And a multitude of brethren who are in our Lord are strengthened on account of my bonds, and have dared the more fearlessly to speak the word of Aloha.

og dei fleste av brørne i Herren hev fenge tiltru til mine lekkjor og dermed fenge endå meir mod til å tala ordet utan otte.

15 Some preach from envy and contention, but some from good-will,

Sume forkynner vel og Kristus av ovund og kivslyst, men sume og av godvilje;

16 and in the love of the Meshiha; for they know that for the defence of the gospel I am appointed.

desse forkynner Kristus av kjærleik, med di dei veit at eg er sett til å forsvara evangeliet,

17 But those who preach the Meshiha from contention do it not sincerely, but think to add affliction to my bonds.

men hine gjer det av stridssykja, ikkje med rein hug, for dei tenkjer å leggja trengsla til mine lekkjor.

18 Yet in this I have rejoiced, and do rejoice, that in every way, if for an occasion, or if in truth, the Meshiha shall be preached.

Kva so? Kristus vert då forkynt på kvar måten, anten det no vert gjort for syn skuld eller i sanning, og yver dette gled eg meg, ja, eg skal og heretter få gleda meg.

19 For I know that these things shall be found unto my life by your prayers, and by the gift of the Spirit of Jeshu Meshiha;

For eg veit at dette skal verta til frelsa for meg ved dykkar bøn og hjelp av Jesu Kristi Ande,

20 even as I hope and expect, that in nothing I shall be confounded, but manifestly, as at all times, so also now, the Meshiha shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

etter mi lengting og von, at eg ikkje i nokon ting skal verta til skammar, men at Kristus, som alltid, so og no, med alt frimod skal verta herleggjord ved min likam, anten det vert ved liv eller ved daude.

21 For my life is the Meshiha; and if I die, it is gain to me.

For livet det er for meg Kristus, og dauden ei vinning.

22 But if in this life of the flesh there be also fruit to me from my works, I know not what to choose.

Men dersom det å liva i kjøtet gjev meg frukt for mi gjerning, so veit eg ikkje kva eg skal velja;

23 For these two straiten me. I desire to be set free, that I might be with the Meshiha, and this is greatly preferable to me;

for eg stend rådvill millom dei tvo ting, med di eg hev hug til å fara herifrå og vera med Kristus, for det er so ovleg mykje betre.

24 but also to remain in my body is the thing which constraineth me on your account.

Men å verta verande i kjøtet er naudsynlegare for dykkar skuld.

25 For I know this confidently, that I am to remain and tarry for your joy and for the increase of your faith:

Og då eg er viss på det, so veit eg at eg skal verta i liva og vera hjå dykk alle til dykkar framgang og gleda i trui,

26 that when I come again to you, your glorying which is in Jeshu Meshiha alone shall abound in me.

so dykkar ros kann verta rik i Kristus Jesus ved meg når eg kjem til dykk att.

27 As it becometh the gospel of the Meshiha, so have your conversation; that if coming I see you, or absent, I may hear of you, that you stand in one spirit and in one soul, conquering together for the faith of the gospel;

Berre far dykkar livsferd so som verdigt er for Kristi evangelium, so eg, anten eg kjem og ser dykk eller er fråverande, kann høyra um dykk at de stend faste i ein Ande, og med ei sjæl strider med meg for trui på evangeliet

28 in nothing moved by them who stand against us, to the forthshowing of their perdition, and of our salvation,

og ikkje i nokon ting let dykk skræma av deim som stend i mot; det er for deim ei varsling um undergang, men for dykk um frelsa, og det frå Gud,

29 And this from Aloha hath been given to you, not only believing to believe in the Meshiha, but also for his sake to suffer,

For dykk vart det unnt, for Kristi skuld, ikkje berre å tru på honom, men og å lida for hans skuld,

30 and to sustain a conflict, as you have seen in me, and now hear concerning me.

med di de hev den same strid som de såg på meg og no høyrer um meg.
