1 Timothy 5
1 An elder do not reprimand, but persuade him as a father, and those who are young as thy brethren,
Starszego [człowieka] nie strofuj, lecz nakłaniaj jak ojca, młodszych – jak braci;
2 and the elderly women as mothers, and those who are young as thy sisters, with all purity.
Starsze kobiety – jak matki, młodsze – jak siostry, z całą czystością.
3 The widows honour them who are widows in truth.
Okazuj szacunek wdowom, które rzeczywiście [są] wdowami.
4 And if there be a widow who hath children, or children's children, let them learn first to do justly for their families, and to repay the debts (owing) to their parents; for this is acceptable before Aloha.
Jeśli zaś jakaś wdowa ma dzieci lub wnuki, niech się one najpierw uczą być pobożnymi względem własnego domu i odwzajemniać się rodzicom; jest to bowiem [rzecz] dobra i miła w oczach Boga.
5 But she who is truly a widow and solitary (is one) whose hope is in Aloha, and who persevereth in prayer and in supplication by night and by day.
Ta zaś, która rzeczywiście jest wdową i [jest] osamotniona, pokłada nadzieję w Bogu i trwa w prośbach i modlitwach we dnie i w nocy.
6 But she who serveth pleasure is dead while she liveth.
Lecz ta, która oddaje się rozkoszom, jest martwa, chociaż żyje.
7 These things prescribe to them, that they be without blame.
To więc nakazuj, żeby były nienaganne.
8 For if a man hath not care of them who are his own, and especially of them who are children of the household of faith, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than those who believe not.
A jeśli ktoś nie dba o swoich, a zwłaszcza o domowników, ten wyparł się wiary i gorszy jest od niewierzącego.
9 Elect, then, the widow who is not less than sixty years, who hath had one husband,
Do wdów niech będzie zaliczona taka, która nie ma mniej niż sześćdziesiąt lat, była żoną jednego męża;
10 and who hath the testimony of good works: if she have brought up children, if she have received guests, if she have washed the feet of the saints, if she have cheered the afflicted, if she have walked in every gracious work.
Znana z dobrych uczynków, jeśli wychowała dzieci, jeśli udzielała gościny, jeśli obmywała nogi świętym, jeśli wspomagała strapionych, jeśli wykonywała każdy dobry uczynek.
11 But from the widows who are young, withhold (the election); for these become schismatical against the Meshiha, and seek to marry,
Natomiast młodszych wdów [do nich] nie zaliczaj, bo gdy rozkosze odwodzą je od Chrystusa, chcą wyjść za mąż;
12 and their condemnation is confirmed, because they have rejected their first fidelity.
Ściągając na siebie potępienie, ponieważ odrzuciły pierwszą wiarę.
13 They also learn idleness, wandering from house to house; and not only idleness, but also to multiply words, and to follow vain (pursuits), and to speak things which they ought not.
Co więcej, uczą się bezczynności, chodząc od domu do domu, i nie tylko [są] bezczynne, lecz też gadatliwe, wścibskie, mówiące to, co nie wypada.
14 I will therefore that those who are young should marry, and bear children, and conduct their households,
Chcę więc, żeby młodsze wychodziły za mąż, rodziły dzieci, zajmowały się [domem], nie dawały przeciwnikowi żadnego powodu do obmowy.
15 and not give to the adversary any occasion to revile. For already have some begun to turn aside after Satana.
Już bowiem niektóre odwróciły się [i poszły] za szatanem.
16 If any believing man or believing woman have widows, let them support them, that they may not be burden-some on the church, that they who are widows indeed may have sufficient.
[A] jeśli jakiś wierzący lub wierząca ma [w rodzinie] wdowy, niech im pomaga, aby kościół nie był obciążony i mógł przyjść z pomocą tym, które rzeczywiście są wdowami.
17 Those presbyters who well conduct themselves shall be worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and in doctrine.
Starsi, którzy dobrze przewodzą, niech będą uważani za godnych podwójnej czci, [a] zwłaszcza ci, którzy pracują w słowie i w nauce.
18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox in the treading out; and, Worthy is the labourer of his hire.
Mówi bowiem Pismo: Młócącemu wołowi nie zawiążesz pyska, oraz: Godny jest robotnik swojej zapłaty.
19 Against a presbyter an accusation receive not, except on the mouth of two or three witnesses.
Nie przyjmuj oskarżenia przeciwko starszemu, chyba że na podstawie [zeznania] dwóch albo trzech świadków.
20 Those who sin before all men reprove, that the rest may be afraid.
A tych, którzy grzeszą, strofuj w obecności wszystkich, aby i inni się bali.
21 I attest thee before Aloha and our Lord Jeshu Meshiha and his elect angels, that thou keep these, (precepts, ) and let not thy mind be pre-occupied by any thing, and do nothing with acceptance of persons.
Zaklinam [cię] wobec Boga i Pana Jezusa Chrystusa, i wybranych aniołów, abyś tego przestrzegał, nie mając względu na osoby, nie kierując się stronniczością.
22 The hand suddenly on any man lay not, neither participate in others' sins. Keep thyself in purity.
Rąk na nikogo pospiesznie nie wkładaj ani nie bądź uczestnikiem cudzych grzechów. Siebie samego zachowaj czystym.
23 And henceforth water drink not, but wine a little drink, on account of thy stomach, and on account of thy constant infirmities.
[Samej] wody już nie pij, ale używaj trochę wina ze względu na twój żołądek i częste niedomagania.
24 THERE are men whose sins are known, and they precede them to the place of judgment; and there are whose (sins) go after them.
Grzechy niektórych ludzi są jawne, [jeszcze] zanim zostaną osądzone, a za niektórymi idą w ślad.
25 So also good men are known; and those who are otherwise cannot be hid.
Podobnie dobre uczynki są jawne, a te, które nie są, pozostać w ukryciu nie mogą.
