Ein Gebet Mose's, des Mannes Gottes. Herr, Gott, du bist unsre Zuflucht für und für.

Ehe denn die Berge wurden und die Erde und die Welt geschaffen wurden, bist du, Gott, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit,

der du die Menschen lässest sterben und sprichst: Kommt wieder, Menschenkinder!

Denn tausend Jahre sind vor dir wie der Tag, der gestern vergangen ist, und wie eine Nachtwache.

Unser Leben währet siebzig Jahre, und wenn's hoch kommt, so sind's achtzig Jahre, und wenn's köstlich gewesen ist, so ist es Mühe und Arbeit gewesen; denn es fährt schnell dahin, als flögen wir davon.

Wer glaubt aber, daß du so sehr zürnest, und wer fürchtet sich vor solchem deinem Grimm?
