Nehemiah 5

1 and to be cry [the] people and woman: wife their great: large to(wards) brother: compatriot their [the] Jew

Maar het geroep des volks en hunner vrouwen was groot, tegen hun broederen, de Joden.

2 and there which to say son: child our and daughter our we many and to take: take grain and to eat and to live

Want er waren, die zeiden: Onze zonen, en onze dochteren, wij zijn velen; daarom hebben wij koren opgenomen, opdat wij eten en leven.

3 and there which to say land: country our and vineyard our and house: home our we to pledge and to take: take grain in/on/with famine

Ook waren er, die zeiden: Wij verpanden onze akkers, en onze wijngaarden, en onze huizen, opdat wij in dezen honger koren mogen opnemen.

4 and there which to say to borrow silver: money to/for tribute [the] king land: country our and vineyard our

Desgelijks waren er, die zeiden: Wij hebben geld ontleend tot des konings cijns, op onze akkers en onze wijngaarden.

5 and now like/as flesh brother: compatriot our flesh our like/as son: child their son: child our and behold we to subdue [obj] son: child our and [obj] daughter our to/for servant/slave and there from daughter our to subdue and nothing to/for god: power hand: power our and land: country our and vineyard our to/for another

Nu is toch ons vlees als het vlees onzer broederen, onze kinderen zijn als hun kinderen; en ziet, wij onderwerpen onze zonen en onze dochteren tot dienstknechten; ja, er zijn enige van onze dochteren onderworpen, dat zij in de macht onzer handen niet zijn; en anderen hebben onze akkers en onze wijngaarden.

6 and to be incensed to/for me much like/as as which to hear: hear [obj] outcry their and [obj] [the] word [the] these

Toen ik nu hun geroep en deze woorden hoorde, ontstak ik zeer.

7 and to advise heart my upon me and to contend [emph?] with [the] noble and with [the] ruler and to say [emph?] to/for them interest man: anyone in/on/with brother: compatriot his you(m. p.) (to lift: aid *QK) and to give: make upon them assembly great: large

En mijn hart beraadslaagde in mij; daarna twistte ik met de edelen, en met de overheden, en zeide tot hen: Gijlieden vordert een last, een iegelijk van zijn broeder. Voorts belegde ik een grote vergadering tegen hen.

8 and to say [emph?] to/for them we to buy [obj] brother: compatriot our [the] Jew [the] to sell to/for nation like/as sufficiency in/on/with us and also you(m. p.) to sell [obj] brother: compatriot your and to sell to/for us and be quiet and not to find word

En ik zeide tot hen: Wij hebben onze broederen, de Joden, die aan de heidenen verkocht waren, naar ons vermogen wedergekocht; en zoudt gijlieden ook uw broederen verkopen, of zouden zij aan ons verkocht worden? Toen zwegen zij, en vonden geen antwoord.

9 (and to say *QK) not pleasant [the] word: thing which you(m. p.) to make: do not in/on/with fear God our to go: walk from reproach [the] nation enemy our

Voorts zeide ik: De zaak is niet goed, die gijlieden doet; zoudt gij niet wandelen in de vreze onzes Gods, om de versmading der heidenen, onze vijanden?

10 and also I brother: male-sibling my and youth my to lend in/on/with them silver: money and grain to leave: forsake please [obj] [the] interest [the] this

Ik, mijn broederen, en mijn jongens, vorderen wij ook geld en koren van hen? Laat ons toch dezen last nalaten.

11 to return: return please to/for them like/as [the] day land: country their vineyard their olive their and house: home their and hundred [the] silver: money and [the] grain [the] new wine and [the] oil which you(m. p.) to lend in/on/with them

Geeft hun toch als heden weder hun akkers, hun wijngaarden, hun olijfgaarden en hun huizen; en het honderdste deel van het geld, en van het koren, den most en de olie, die gij hun hebt afgevorderd.

12 and to say to return: rescue and from them not to seek so to make: do like/as as which you(m. s.) to say and to call: call to [obj] [the] priest and to swear them to/for to make: do like/as Chronicles [the] this

Toen zeiden zij: Wij zullen het wedergeven, en van hen niets zoeken; wij zullen alzo doen, als gij zegt. En ik riep de priesteren, en deed hen zweren, dat zij doen zouden naar dit woord.

13 also bosom my to shake and to say [emph?] thus to shake [the] God [obj] all [the] man which not to arise: establish [obj] [the] word: promised [the] this from house: home his and from toil his and thus to be to shake and worthless and to say all [the] assembly amen and to boast: praise [obj] LORD and to make: do [the] people like/as Chronicles [the] this

Ook schudde ik mijn boezem uit, en zeide: Alzo schudde God uit allen man, die dit woord niet zal bevestigen, uit zijn huis en uit zijn arbeid, en hij zij alzo uitgeschud en ledig. En de ganse gemeente zeide: Amen! En zij prezen de HEERE. En het volk deed naar dit woord.

14 also from day which to command [obj] me to/for to be governor their in/on/with land: country/planet Judah from year twenty and till year thirty and two to/for Artaxerxes [the] king year two ten I and brother: male-sibling my food: allowance [the] governor not to eat

Ook van dien dag af, dat hij mij bevolen heeft hun landvoogd te zijn in het land Juda, van het twintigste jaar af, tot het twee en dertigste jaar van den koning Arthahsasta, zijnde twaalf jaren, heb ik, met mijn broederen, het des landvoogds niet gegeten.

15 and [the] governor [the] first: previous which to/for face: before my to honor: heavy upon [the] people and to take: take from them in/on/with food: allowance and wine after silver: money shekel forty also youth their to domineer upon [the] people and I not to make: do so from face: because fear God

En de vorige landvoogden, die voor mij geweest zijn, hebben het volk bezwaard, en van hen genomen aan brood en wijn, daarna veertig zilveren sikkelen; ook heersten hun jongens over het volk; maar ik heb alzo niet gedaan, om der vreze Gods wil.

16 and also in/on/with work [the] wall [the] this to strengthen: persevere and land: country not to buy and all youth my to gather there upon [the] work

Daartoe heb ik ook aan het werk dezes muurs verbeterd, en wij hebben geen land gekocht; en al mijn jongens zijn aldaar verzameld geweest tot het werk.

17 and [the] Jew and [the] ruler hundred and fifty man and [the] to come (in): come to(wards) us from [the] nation which around us upon table my

Ook zijn van de Joden en van de overheden honderd en vijftig man, en die van de heidenen, die rondom ons zijn, tot ons kwamen, aan mijn tafel geweest.

18 and which to be to make: do to/for day one cattle one flock six to purify and bird to make: do to/for me and between ten day in/on/with all wine to/for to multiply and with this food: allowance [the] governor not to seek for to honor: heavy [the] service upon [the] people [the] this

En wat voor een dag bereid werd, was een os en zes uitgelezen schapen; ook werden mij vogelen bereid, en binnen tien dagen van allen wijn zeer veel; nog heb ik bij dezen het brood des landvoogds niet gezocht, omdat de dienstbaarheid zwaar was over dit volk.

19 to remember [emph?] to/for me God my to/for welfare all which to make: do upon [the] people [the] this

Gedenk mijner, mijn God, ten goede, alles, wat ik aan dit volk gedaan heb.
