Leviticus 12

Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:

“Hãy dạy cho người Ít-ra-ên biết rằng khi một người đàn bà sinh con trai, người ấy bị ô uế trong bảy ngày, như lúc có kinh.
3 and in/on/with day [the] eighth to circumcise flesh foreskin his
Đến ngày thứ tám, phải làm lễ cắt bì cho đứa bé trai.
4 and thirty day and three day to dwell in/on/with blood purity in/on/with all holiness not to touch and to(wards) [the] sanctuary not to come (in): come till to fill day purity her
Trong thời gian ba mươi ba ngày sau đó, người ấy không được đụng đến một vật thánh, cũng không được vào nơi thánh, vì đây là thời gian để bà được sạch kinh.
5 and if female to beget and to defile week like/as impurity her and sixty day and six day to dwell upon blood purity
Trường hợp sinh con gái, bà bị ô uế trong hai tuần lễ, như lúc có kinh, và thời gian để sạch kinh là sáu mươi sáu ngày.
6 and in/on/with to fill day purity her to/for son: child or to/for daughter to come (in): bring lamb son: aged year his to/for burnt offering and son: aged dove or turtledove to/for sin: sin offering to(wards) entrance tent meeting to(wards) [the] priest
Khi thời gian sạch kinh chấm dứt, dù đã sinh con trai hay con gái, người ấy phải đem đến cho thầy tế lễ tại cửa Đền Tạm một con chiên một tuổi để làm lễ thiêu, và một con bồ câu hoặc chim cu con để làm lễ chuộc tội.
7 and to present: bring him to/for face: before LORD and to atone upon her and be pure from fountain blood her this instruction [the] to beget to/for male or to/for female
Thầy tế lễ sẽ đem dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu để chuộc tội cho người, và người trở nên tinh sạch sau lúc sinh sản. Đó là luật liên hệ đến trường hợp sinh con trai hay gái.
8 and if not to find hand her sufficiency sheep and to take: take two turtledove or two son: young animal dove one to/for burnt offering and one to/for sin: sin offering and to atone upon her [the] priest and be pure
Nếu những người phụ nữ không đủ sức dâng một con chiên thì phải dâng hai chim cu hoặc hai bồ câu con, con này làm lễ thiêu, con kia làm lễ chuộc tội. Thầy tế lễ sẽ chuộc tội cho người, và người sẽ được tinh sạch.”
