2 Corinthians 12

अपनी बड़ाई करना मेरे लिए ज़रूरी हो गया है—हालांकि इसमें कोई भी लाभ नहीं है—इसलिये मैं प्रभु के द्वारा दिए गए दर्शनों तथा दिव्य प्रकाशनों के वर्णन की ओर बढ़ रहा हूं.

मैं एक ऐसे व्यक्ति को, जो मसीह का विश्वासी है, जानता हूं. चौदह वर्ष पहले यह व्यक्ति तीसरे स्वर्ग तक उठा लिया गया—शरीर के साथ या बिना शरीर के, मुझे मालूम नहीं—यह परमेश्वर ही जानते हैं.

मैं जानता हूं कैसे यही व्यक्ति—शरीर के साथ या बिना शरीर के, मुझे मालूम नहीं—यह परमेश्वर ही जानते हैं;

स्वर्ग में उठा लिया गया. वहां उसने वे अवर्णनीय वचन सुने, जिनका वर्णन करना किसी भी मनुष्य के लिए संभव नहीं है.

इसी व्यक्ति की ओर से मैं गर्व करूंगा—स्वयं अपने विषय में नहीं—सिवाय अपनी कमज़ोरियों के.

वैसे भी यदि मैं अपनी बड़ाई करने ही लगूं तो इसे मेरी मूर्खता नहीं माना जा सकेगा क्योंकि वह सत्य वर्णन होगा. किंतु मैं यह भी नहीं करूंगा कि कोई भी मेरे स्वभाव, मेरे वर्णन से प्रभावित हो मुझे मेरे कथन अथवा करनी से अधिक श्रेय देने लगे.

मेरे अद्भुत प्रकाशनों की श्रेष्ठता के कारण मुझे अपनी बड़ाई करने से रोकने के उद्देश्य से मेरे शरीर में एक कांटा लगाया गया है—मुझे कष्ट देते रहने के लिए शैतान का एक अपदूत—कि मैं अपनी बड़ाई न करूं.

इसके उपाय के लिए मैंने तीन बार प्रभु से गिड़गिड़ाकर विनती की.

प्रभु का उत्तर था: “कमज़ोरी में मेरा सामर्थ्य सिद्ध हो जाता है इसलिये तुम्हारे लिए मेरा अनुग्रह ही काफ़ी है.” इसके प्रकाश में मैं बड़े हर्ष के साथ अपनी कमज़ोरियों के विषय में गर्व करूंगा कि मेरे द्वारा प्रभु मसीह का सामर्थ्य सक्रिय हो जाए.

मसीह के लिए मैं कमज़ोरियों, अपमानों, कष्टों, उत्पीड़नों तथा कठिनाइयों में पूरी तरह संतुष्ट हूं क्योंकि जब कभी मैं दुर्बल होता हूं, तभी मैं बलवंत होता हूं.

यह करते हुए मैंने स्वयं को मूर्ख बना लिया है. तुमने ही मुझे इसके लिए मजबूर किया है. होना तो यह था कि तुम मेरी प्रशंसा करते. यद्यपि मैं तुच्छ हूं फिर भी मैं उन बड़े-बड़े प्रेरितों की तुलना में कम नहीं हूं.

मैंने तुम्हारे बीच रहते हुए प्रेरिताई प्रमाण स्वरूप धीरज, चमत्कार चिह्न, अद्भुत काम तथा सामर्थ्य भरे काम दिखाए.

भला तुम किस क्षेत्र में अन्य कलीसियाओं की तुलना में कम रहे, सिवाय इसके कि मैं कभी भी तुम्हारे लिए बोझ नहीं बना? क्षमा कर दो. मुझसे भूल हो गई.

मैं तीसरी बार वहां आने के लिए तैयार हूं. मैं तुम्हारे लिए बोझ नहीं बनूंगा. मेरी रुचि तुम्हारी संपत्ति में नहीं, स्वयं तुममें है. संतान से यह आशा नहीं की जाती कि वे माता-पिता के लिए कमाएं—संतान के लिए माता-पिता कमाते हैं.

तुम्हारी आत्माओं के भले के लिए मैं निश्चित ही अपना सब कुछ तथा खुद को खर्च करने के लिए तैयार हूं. क्या तुम्हें बढ़कर प्रेम करने का बदला तुम मुझे कम प्रेम करने के द्वारा दोगे?

कुछ भी हो, मैं तुम पर बोझ नहीं बना. फिर भी कोई न कोई मुझ पर यह दोष ज़रूर लगा सकता है, “बड़ा धूर्त है वह! छल कर गया है तुमसे!”

क्या वास्तव में इन व्यक्तियों को तुम्हारे पास भेजकर मैंने तुम्हारा गलत फायदा उठाया है?

तीतॉस को तुम्हारे पास भेजने की विनती मैंने की थी. उसके साथ अपने इस भाई को भी मैंने ही भेजा था. क्या तीतॉस ने तुम्हारा गलत फायदा उठाया? क्या हमारा स्वभाव एक ही भाव से प्रेरित न था? क्या हम उन्हीं पद-चिह्नों पर न चले?

यह संभव है तुम अपने मन में यह विचार कर रहे हो कि हम यह सब अपने बचाव में कह रहे हैं. प्रिय मित्रो, हम यह सब परमेश्वर के सामने मसीह येशु में तुम्हें उन्‍नत करने के उद्देश्य से कह रहे हैं.

मुझे यह डर है कि मेरे वहां आने पर मैं तुम्हें अपनी उम्मीद के अनुसार न पाऊं और तुम भी मुझे अपनी उम्मीद के अनुसार न पाओ. मुझे डर है कि वहां झगड़ा, जलन, क्रोध, उदासी, बदनामी, बकवाद, अहंकार तथा उपद्रव पाऊं!

मुझे डर है कि मेरे वहां दोबारा आने पर कहीं मेरे परमेश्वर तुम्हारे सामने मेरी प्रतिष्ठा भंग न कर दें और मुझे तुममें से अनेक के अतीत में किए गए पापों तथा उनके अशुद्धता, गैर-कानूनी तथा कामुकता भरे स्वभाव के लिए पश्चाताप न करने के कारण शोक करना पड़े.
