2 Chronicles 24
1 son: aged seven year Joash in/on/with to reign he and forty year to reign in/on/with Jerusalem and name mother his Zibiah from Beersheba Beersheba
Joas avait sept ans quand il devint roi, et il régna quarante ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Cibya, de Bersabée.

Joas fit ce qui plaît au Seigneur, durant toute la vie de Joïada, le prêtre.

Joïada lui fit épouser deux femmes, et il engendra des fils et des filles.

Plus tard, Joas conçut le projet de restaurer la maison du Seigneur.
5 and to gather [obj] [the] priest and [the] Levi and to say to/for them to come out: come to/for city Judah and to gather from all Israel silver: money to/for to strengthen: strengthen [obj] house: temple God your from sufficiency year in/on/with year and you(m. p.) to hasten to/for word: thing and not to hasten [the] Levi
Il réunit prêtres et Lévites et leur dit: "Allez visiter les villes de Juda, recueillez de l’argent dans tout Israël, pour réparer la maison de votre Dieu, d’année en année, et accélérez la chose!" Mais les Lévites n’y mirent aucun empressement.
6 and to call: call to [the] king to/for Jehoiada [the] head: leader and to say to/for him why? not to seek upon [the] Levi to/for to come (in): bring from Judah and from Jerusalem [obj] tribute Moses servant/slave LORD and [the] assembly to/for Israel to/for tent [the] testimony
Alors le roi manda Joïada, le chef des prêtres, et lui dit: "Pourquoi n’exiges-tu pas des Lévites qu’ils fassent rentrer de Juda et de Jérusalem l’impôt établi par Moïse, serviteur de l’Eternel, sur l’assemblée d’Israël, en faveur de la tente du Statut?
7 for Athaliah [the] wickedness son: child her to break through [obj] house: temple [the] God and also all holiness house: temple LORD to make to/for Baal
Car l’impie Athalie et ses fils ont laissé tomber en ruine la maison de Dieu, et, de plus, ils ont affecté aux Bealim tous les objets sacrés du temple de l’Eternel."
8 and to say [the] king and to make ark one and to give: put him in/on/with gate house: temple LORD outside [to]
Sur l’ordre du roi, on confectionna une caisse, qu’on plaça à l’entrée de la maison de l’Eternel, extérieurement,
9 and to give: make voice: message in/on/with Judah and in/on/with Jerusalem to/for to come (in): bring to/for LORD tribute Moses servant/slave [the] God upon Israel in/on/with wilderness
et l’on publia un avis dans Juda et Jérusalem, à l’effet de faire apporter à l’intention de l’Eternel l’impôt établi par Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, sur Israël dans le désert.
10 and to rejoice all [the] ruler and all [the] people and to come (in): bring and to throw to/for ark till to/for to end: finish
Tous les seigneurs et le peuple, remplis de joie, apportèrent leur offrande et la jetèrent dans la caisse, tous tant qu’ils étaient.
11 and to be in/on/with time to come (in): bring [obj] [the] ark to(wards) punishment [the] king in/on/with hand: by [the] Levi and like/as to see: see they for many [the] silver: money and to come (in): come secretary [the] king and overseer priest [the] head: leader and to uncover [obj] [the] ark and to lift: raise him and to return: return him to(wards) place his thus to make: do to/for day: daily in/on/with day: daily and to gather silver: money to/for abundance
Et chaque fois que la caisse était remise aux préposés royaux par les soins des Lévites, et que l’on constatait qu’elle contenait beaucoup d’argent, le secrétaire du roi et le fonctionnaire désigné par le pontife suprême venaient vider la caisse, puis on la remportait pour la remettre en place. Ainsi procédait-on jour par jour, et l’on recueillit de l’argent en quantité.
12 and to give: give him [the] king and Jehoiada to(wards) to make: do work service: ministry house: temple LORD and to be to hire to hew and artificer to/for to renew house: temple LORD and also to/for artificer iron and bronze to/for to strengthen: strengthen [obj] house: temple LORD
Cet argent, le roi et Joïada le passèrent aux directeurs des travaux de restauration de la maison de l’Eternel: ceux-ci engagèrent des tailleurs de pierre et des charpentiers pour restaurer le temple du Seigneur, ainsi que des artistes travaillant le fer et le cuivre pour en faire les réparations.
13 and to make: do to make: do [the] work and to ascend: rise health to/for work in/on/with hand their and to stand: stand [obj] house: temple [the] God upon tally his and to strengthen him
Les chefs des travaux firent diligence, et la besogne, sous leur direction, fut menée à bonne fin; ils rétablirent la maison de Dieu dans son état normal et la consolidèrent.
14 and like/as to end: finish they to come (in): bring to/for face: before [the] king and Jehoiada [obj] remnant [the] silver: money and to make him article/utensil to/for house: temple LORD article/utensil ministry and to ascend: offer up and palm: dish and article/utensil gold and silver: money and to be to ascend: offer up burnt offering in/on/with house: temple LORD continually all day Jehoiada
Leur tâche achevée, ils rapportèrent au roi et à Joïada ce qui restait de l’argent; on l’employa à confectionner des vases pour la maison de l’Eternel vases pour le culte, pour les sacrifices à offrir, écuelles, objets d’or et d’argent. On offrit des holocaustes dans le temple de l’Eternel, régulièrement tant que vécut Joïada.
15 and be old Jehoiada and to satisfy day and to die son: aged hundred and thirty year in/on/with death his
Mais Joïada devint vieux, il fut rassasié de jours et mourut. Il avait cent trente ans lors de sa mort.
16 and to bury him in/on/with city David with [the] king for to make: do welfare in/on/with Israel and with [the] God and house: home his
On l’ensevelit dans la cité de David, avec les rois, car il avait bien mérité d’Israël, de Dieu et de son temple.
17 and after death Jehoiada to come (in): come ruler Judah and to bow to/for king then to hear: hear [the] king to(wards) them
Après la mort de Joïada, les seigneurs de Juda vinrent rendre hommage au roi, et celui-ci écouta leurs avis.
18 and to leave: forsake [obj] house: temple LORD God father their and to serve [obj] [the] Asherah and [obj] [the] idol and to be wrath upon Judah and Jerusalem in/on/with guiltiness their this
Ils abandonnèrent la maison de l’Eternel, Dieu de leurs pères, adorèrent les statues d’Astarté et les idoles, de sorte que le courroux de Dieu éclata contre Juda et contre Jérusalem, en raison de leur coupable défection.
19 and to send: depart in/on/with them prophet to/for to return: return them to(wards) LORD and to testify in/on/with them and not to listen
Il envoya au milieu d’eux des prophètes pour les ramener à lui; mais leurs exhortations ne trouvèrent pas d’écho.
20 and spirit God to clothe [obj] Zechariah son: child Jehoiada [the] priest and to stand: stand from upon to/for people and to say to/for them thus to say [the] God to/for what? you(m. p.) to pass: trespass [obj] commandment LORD and not to prosper for to leave: forsake [obj] LORD and to leave: forsake [obj] you
C’Est alors que l’inspiration divine s’empara de Zacharie, fils du prêtre Joïada. Se plaçant de façon à dominer le peuple, il s’écria: "Ainsi parle Dieu: Pourquoi transgressez-vous les préceptes de l’Eternel et préparez-vous votre ruine? Puisque vous abandonnez l’Eternel, il vous abandonnera à votre tour."

On se concerta contre lui et on le tua à coups de pierre, sur l’ordre du roi, dans le parvis du temple du Seigneur.
22 and not to remember Joash [the] king [the] kindness which to make: do Jehoiada father his with him and to kill [obj] son: child his and like/as to die he to say to see: see LORD and to seek
Le roi Joas ne s’était pas souvenu, en faisant périr les fils, des bienfaits qu’il devait à Joïada, le père. En expirant, Zacharie avait dit: "Que l’Eternel voie, et demande compte!"
23 and to be to/for circuit [the] year to ascend: rise upon him strength: soldiers Syria and to come (in): come to(wards) Judah and Jerusalem and to ruin [obj] all ruler [the] people from people and all spoil their to send: depart to/for king Damascus
Une année étant révolue, une armée de Syriens marcha contre Joas; ils envahirent Juda et Jérusalem et exterminèrent, au milieu du peuple, tous les seigneurs qui étaient à sa tête; toutes leurs dépouilles, ils les firent parvenir au roi de Damas.
24 for in/on/with little human to come (in): come strength: soldiers Syria and LORD to give: give in/on/with hand: power their strength: soldiers to/for abundance much for to leave: forsake [obj] LORD God father their and with Joash to make: do judgment
Bien que l’armée syrienne ne comptât qu’un petit nombre d’hommes, l’Eternel livra à sa merci une armée très considérable, parce qu’ils avaient abandonné l’Eternel, Dieu de leurs pères. Contre Joas également les ennemis exercèrent des sévices.
25 and in/on/with to go: went they from him for to leave: forsake [obj] him (in/on/with suffering *Qk) many to conspire upon him servant/slave his in/on/with blood son: child Jehoiada [the] priest and to kill him upon bed his and to die and to bury him in/on/with city David and not to bury him in/on/with grave [the] king
Quand ils se furent retirés de chez lui, le laissant en proie à une grave maladie, ses serviteurs formèrent un complot contre lui, pour venger le sang du fils de Joïada, le prêtre, et l’assassinèrent dans son lit. C’Est ainsi qu’il mourut; il fut enseveli dans la cité de David, mais non dans le tombeau des rois.
26 and these [the] to conspire upon him Zabad son: child Shimeath [the] Ammon and Jehozabad son: child Shimrith [the] Moabite
Voici ceux qui avaient comploté contre lui: Zabad, fils de Chimeat, femme ammonite, et Yehozabad, fils de Chimrit, la Moabite.

Quant à ses fils, au grand nombre de prophéties dirigées contre lui et à la restauration de la maison de Dieu, ils sont mentionnés dans l’exposé du Livre des Rois. Il eut pour successeur son fils Amacia.
