૧પછી દાઉદે રામાના નાયોથમાંથી નાસીને યોનાથાન પાસે આવીને કહ્યું, “મેં શું કર્યું છે? મારો અન્યાય શો છે? તારા પિતા આગળ મારું કયું પાપ છે કે, તે મારો જીવ લેવા શોધે છે?”
2 and to say to/for him forbid not to die behold (not to make: do *QK) father my word: thing great: large or word: thing small and not to reveal: reveal [obj] ear: to ears my and why? to hide father my from me [obj] [the] word: thing [the] this nothing this
૨યોનાથાને દાઉદને કહ્યું, “એ તારાથી દૂર થાઓ; તું માર્યો નહિ જાય. મારા પિતા મોટું કે નાનું કશું પણ મને જણાવ્યાં વગર કરતા નથી. આ વાત મારા પિતા મારાથી શા માટે છુપાવે? એવું તો ના હોય.”

૩દાઉદે ફરી સોગન ખાઈને કહ્યું કે,” તારો પિતા સારી પેઠે જાણે છે કે, હું તારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં કૃપા પામ્યો છું; માટે તે કહે છે કે, ‘યોનાથાન આ વાત ન જાણે, રખેને તેને દુઃખ થાય.’ પણ ખરેખર હું જીવતા ઈશ્વરના તથા તારા જીવના સોગન ખાઉં છું કે, મારી તથા મરણની વચ્ચે ફક્ત એક પગલું જ દૂર રહ્યું છે.”

૪ત્યારે યોનાથાને દાઉદને કહ્યું કે,” જે કંઈ તું કહે, તે હું તારે માટે કરીશ.”

૫દાઉદે યોનાથાનને કહ્યું, “જો કાલે અમાસ છે, મારે રાજાની સાથે ભોજન પર બેસવા સિવાય ચાલે એમ નથી. પણ મને જવા દે, કે જેથી ત્રીજા દિવસની સાંજ સુધી હું ખેતરમાં સંતાઈ રહું.

૬જો તારો પિતા મને યાદ કરે તો તું કહેજે કે, દાઉદે પોતાના નગર બેથલેહેમમાં ઉતાવળે જઈ આવવાને આગ્રહથી મારી પાસે રજા માગી; કેમ કે ત્યાં આખા કુટુંબને માટે વાર્ષિક યજ્ઞ છે.’

૭જો તે કહે કે, ‘તે સારું છે,’ તો તારા દાસને શાંતિ થશે. પણ જો તે ઘણો ગુસ્સે થાય, તો જાણજે કે તેણે ખરાબ કામ કરવાનો નિશ્ચય કર્યો છે.

૮માટે તારા સેવક સાથે નમ્રતાથી વ્યવહાર કર. કેમ કે તેં તારા સેવકને તારી સાથે ઈશ્વરના કરારમાં લીધો છે. પણ જો મારામાં કંઈ પાપ હોય, તો તું મને મારી નાખ; મને તારા પિતા પાસે શા માટે લઈ જાય છે?”

૯યોનાથાને કહ્યું, “એ તારાથી દૂર થાઓ! જો એવું મારા જાણવામાં આવે કે, મારા પિતાએ તારા પર જોખમ લાવવાનો નિશ્ચય કર્યો છે તો શું તે હું તને ન કહું?”

૧૦પછી દાઉદે યોનાથાનને કહ્યું, “જો કદાચ તારો પિતા તને કઠોર વચનોથી ઉત્તર આપશે તો તેની જાણ મને કોણ કરશે?”

૧૧યોનાથાને દાઉદને કહ્યું, “આવ, આપણે બહાર ખેતરમાં જઈએ.” અને તેઓ બન્ને બહાર ખેતરમાં ગયા.

૧૨યોનાથાને દાઉદને કહ્યું, “ઇઝરાયલના પ્રભુ, ઈશ્વરની સાક્ષી રાખીને. કાલે આટલા સમયે કે પરમ દિવસે મારા પિતાના મનને તપાસી જોઈને જો તારા હિતમાં સારું જણાશે, તો હું તારી પાસે માણસ મોકલીને તને તેની ખબર આપીશ.

૧૩જો મારા પિતાની મરજી તને હાનિ પહોંચાડવાની હોય, તે જાણીને જો હું તને ખબર ના આપું અને તું શાંતિથી ચાલ્યો જાય માટે તને ખબર મોકલું નહિ, તો ઈશ્વર યોનાથાન ઉપર એવું તથા એથી પણ વધારે વિતાડે. જેમ ઈશ્વર મારા પિતાની સાથે હતા તેમ તે તારી સાથે હો.
14 and not if still I alive and not to make: do with me me kindness LORD and not to die
૧૪ફક્ત મારી જિંદગીભર મારા પર ઈશ્વરની કૃપા રાખીને તું મારું મોત ન લાવીશ, એટલું જ નહિ,
15 and not to cut: eliminate [obj] kindness your from from with house: household my till forever: enduring and not in/on/with to cut: eliminate LORD [obj] enemy David man: anyone from upon face: surface [the] land: planet
૧૫પરંતુ મારા કુટુંબ પરથી તારા વિશ્વાસુપણાના કરારને સદાને માટે કાપી નાખીશ નહિ. જયારે ઈશ્વર દાઉદના પ્રત્યેક શત્રુને પૃથ્વીની પીઠ પરથી નષ્ટ કરી નાખે ત્યારે પણ નહિ.”
16 and to cut: make(covenant) Jonathan with house: household David and to seek LORD from hand: to enemy David
૧૬તેથી યોનાથાને દાઉદના કુંટુબની સાથે કરાર કર્યો અને કહ્યું, “ઈશ્વર દાઉદના શત્રુઓની પાસેથી જવાબ માંગશે.”
17 and to add: again Jonathan to/for to swear [obj] David in/on/with love his [obj] him for love soul his to love: lover him
૧૭અને દાઉદ પર પોતાના પ્રેમની ખાતર યોનાથાને દાઉદને ફરીથી સમ ખવડાવ્યા, કેમ કે તે પોતાના જીવની જેમ તેના ઉપર પ્રીતિ કરતો હતો.

૧૮પછી યોનાથાને તેને કહ્યું, “કાલે અમાસ છે. તારી ગેરહાજરી જણાશે, કેમ કે તારી બેઠક ખાલી હશે.

૧૯ત્યાં તું ત્રણ દિવસ રહ્યા પછી જલદીથી નીચે ઊતરીને, જ્યાં પેલા કામને પ્રસંગે તું સંતાઈ રહ્યો હતો તે ઠેકાણે આવીને, એઝેલ પથ્થર પાસે રહેજે.

૨૦નિશાન તાકતો હોઉં એવો ડોળ દેખાડીને હું તે તરફ ત્રણ બાણો મારીશ.

૨૧અને હું મારા જુવાન માણસને મોકલીને તેને કહીશ કે, ‘જા બાણો શોધી કાઢ.’ જો હું જુવાન છોકરાંને કહું કે, ‘જો, બાણો તારી તરફ છે; તો લઈને આવજે;” કેમ કે જીવતા ઈશ્વરના સમ કે, ત્યાં તું સલામત છે અને તને કોઈ મુશ્કેલી નથી.
22 and if thus to say to/for youth behold [the] arrow from you and further to go: went for to send: depart you LORD
૨૨“પણ જો હું તે જુવાન માણસને કહું કે, ‘જો, બાણો તારી પેલી તરફ છે,’ તો તારે રસ્તે ચાલ્યો જજે, કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે તને વિદાય કર્યો છે.
23 and [the] word: thing which to speak: speak I and you(m. s.) behold LORD between me and between you till forever: enduring
૨૩જે કરાર વિષે તેં અને મેં વાત કરી છે, તેમાં જો, ઈશ્વર સદાકાળ સુધી તારી અને મારી વચ્ચે છે.’”
24 and to hide David in/on/with land: country and to be [the] month: new moon and to dwell [the] king (to(wards) *QK) [the] food to/for to eat
૨૪તેથી દાઉદ ખેતરમાં સંતાઈ રહ્યો. જયારે અમાસ આવી, ત્યારે રાજા જમવા માટે નીચે બેઠો.

૨૫હંમેશ મુજબ, રાજા પોતાના ભીંત પાસેના આસન પર બેઠો. યોનાથાન ઊભો રહ્યો અને આબ્નેર શાઉલની બાજુએ બેઠો. પણ દાઉદની જગ્યા ખાલી હતી.

૨૬તેમ છતાં શાઉલે તે દિવસે કંઈ પણ કહ્યું નહિ, કેમ કે તેણે વિચાર્યું, “તેને કંઈક થયું હશે. તે શુદ્ધ નહિ હોય; ચોક્કસ તે શુદ્ધ નહિ હોય.”

૨૭પણ અમાસના બીજા દિવસે, દાઉદની જગ્યા ખાલી હતી. શાઉલે પોતાના દીકરા યોનાથાનને કહ્યું, “યિશાઈનો દીકરો જમવા કેમ નથી આવતો કાલે નહોતો આવ્યો. આજે પણ નથી આવ્યો?”
28 and to answer Jonathan [obj] Saul to ask to ask David from with me me till Bethlehem Bethlehem
૨૮યોનાથાને શાઉલને ઉત્તર આપ્યો, “દાઉદે આગ્રહથી મારી પાસે બેથલેહેમ જવા સારુ રજા માગી છે.

૨૯તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘કૃપા કરીને મને જવા દે. કેમ કે અમારા કુટુંબે નગરમાં યજ્ઞ કરવાનો છે અને મારા ભાઈએ મને ત્યાં જવાનો હુકમ કર્યો છે. હવે, જો તારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં હું કૃપા પામ્યો હોઉં, તો કૃપા કરી મને અહીંથી જઈને મારા ભાઈઓને મળવા દે.’ એ માટે તે રાજાના ભોજનમાં આવ્યો નથી.”

૩૦પછી શાઉલે યોનાથાન ઉપર ક્રોધાયમાન થઈને તેને કહ્યું, “અરે આડી તથા બળવાખોર સ્ત્રીના દીકરા! તને પોતાને શરમાવવા માટે તથા તારી માતાની ફજેતી કરવા માટે તેં યિશાઈના દીકરાને પસંદ કર્યો છે, એ શું હું નથી જાણતો?
31 for all [the] day which son: child Jesse to live upon [the] land: planet not to establish: establish you(m. s.) and royalty your and now to send: depart and to take: bring [obj] him to(wards) me for son: type of death he/she/it
૩૧કેમ કે જ્યાં સુધી યિશાઈનો દીકરો પૃથ્વી પર જીવે છે ત્યાં સુધી તું તથા તારું રાજ્ય સ્થાપિત થનાર નથી. માટે હવે, માણસ મોકલીને તેને મારી પાસે લાવ, કેમ કે તેને ચોક્કસ મરવું પડશે.”

૩૨યોનાથાને પોતાના પિતા શાઉલને જવાબ આપ્યો, “કયા કારણોસર તેને મારી નાખવો જોઈએ? તેણે શું કર્યું છે?”

૩૩પછી શાઉલે તેને મારવા સારુ પોતાનો ભાલો તેની તરફ ફેંક્યો. તે પરથી યોનાથાનને ખાતરી થઈ મારા પિતાએ દાઉદને મારી નાખવાનો નિશ્ચય કર્યો છે.
34 and to arise: rise Jonathan from from with [the] table in/on/with burning face: anger and not to eat in/on/with day [the] month [the] second food for to hurt to(wards) David for be humiliated him father his
૩૪યોનાથાન ઘણો ક્રોધાયમાન થઈને ભોજન ઉપરથી ઊઠી ગયો અને માસને બીજા દિવસે તે કંઈ પણ જમ્યો નહિ, દાઉદ વિષે તેને દુઃખ લાગ્યું હતું, કેમ કે તેના પિતાએ તેનું અપમાન કર્યું હતું.
35 and to be in/on/with morning and to come out: come Jonathan [the] land: country to/for meeting: time appointed David and youth small with him
૩૫સવારમાં, યોનાથાન એક નાના છોકરાંને લઈને દાઉદની સાથે ઠરાવેલે સમયે ખેતરમાં ગયો.
36 and to say to/for youth his to run: run to find please [obj] [the] arrow which I to shoot [the] youth to run: run and he/she/it to shoot [the] arrow to/for to pass him
૩૬તેણે પોતની સાથેના એ છોકરાંને કહ્યું, “દોડ અને જે બાણો હું મારું તે શોધી કાઢ.” અને જયારે તે છોકરો દોડતો હતો, ત્યારે તે દરમિયાન તેણે એક બાણ તેનાથી આગળ માર્યું.
37 and to come (in): come [the] youth till place [the] arrow which to shoot Jonathan and to call: call to Jonathan after [the] youth and to say not [the] arrow from you and further
૩૭અને યોનાથાને બાણ માર્યું હતું તે ઠેકાણે તે છોકરો પહોંચ્યો, ત્યારે યોનાથાને છોકરાંને હાંક મારીને, કહ્યું, “બાણ હજી તારાથી આગળ નથી શું?”
38 and to call: call to Jonathan after [the] youth haste to hasten [emph?] not to stand: stand and to gather youth Jonathan [obj] ([the] arrow *QK) and to come (in): come to(wards) lord his
૩૮અને યોનાથાને છોકરાંને હાંક મારી, “ઝડપ કર, જલ્દી આવ, વિલંબ ન કર!” તેથી એ છોકરો બાણો એકઠાં કરીને પોતાના માલિક પાસે આવ્યો.

૩૯પણ તે છોકરો એ વિષે કશું જાણતો નહોતો. કેવળ યોનાથાન તથા દાઉદ તે બાબત વિષે જાણતા હતા.
40 and to give: give Jonathan [obj] article/utensil his to(wards) [the] youth which to/for him and to say to/for him to go: went to come (in): bring [the] city
૪૦યોનાથાને પોતાનાં શસ્ત્રો એ છોકરાંને આપીને તેને કહ્યું, “જા, તેમને ગિબિયા નગરમાં લઈ જા.”
41 [the] youth to come (in): come and David to arise: rise from beside [the] south and to fall: fall to/for face his land: soil [to] and to bow three beat and to kiss man: anyone [obj] neighbor his and to weep man: anyone [obj] neighbor his till David to magnify
૪૧તે છોકરો ગયો કે તરત, દાઉદ દક્ષિણ બાજુએથી ઊઠીને આવ્યો, જમીન તરફ મુખ નમાવીને, તેણે ત્રણ વાર પ્રણામ કર્યા. તેઓ એકબીજાને ચુંબન કરીને તથા ભેટીને રડ્યા, દાઉદનું રુદન વધારે હતું.
42 and to say Jonathan to/for David to go: went to/for peace which to swear two our we in/on/with name LORD to/for to say LORD to be between me and between you and between seed: children my and between seed: children your till forever: enduring and to arise: rise and to go: went and Jonathan to come (in): come [the] city
૪૨યોનાથાને દાઉદને કહ્યું, “શાંતિએ જા, કેમ કે આપણે બન્નેએ ઈશ્વરને નામે સોગન ખાધા છે કે, ‘ઈશ્વર સદાકાળ સુધી મારી તથા તારી વચ્ચે, મારા તથા તારા સંતાનની વચ્ચે રહો.’ પછી દાઉદ ઊઠીને વિદાય થયો અને યોનાથાન નગરમાં ગયો.
