1 Samuel 16
1 and to say LORD to(wards) Samuel till how you(m. s.) to mourn to(wards) Saul and I to reject him from to reign upon Israel to fill horn your oil and to go: went to send: depart you to(wards) Jesse Bethlehemite [the] Bethlehemite for to see: select in/on/with son: child his to/for me king
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Sa-mu-ên: “Con đau buồn vì Sau-lơ quá đủ rồi. Ta đã từ bỏ hắn, không cho làm vua Ít-ra-ên nữa, bây giờ hãy đổ đầy một sừng dầu, rồi đi đến Bết-lê-hem. Tìm một người tên Gie-sê, sống tại đó, vì Ta đã chọn một trong các con trai người làm vua.”
2 and to say Samuel how? to go: went and to hear: hear Saul and to kill me and to say LORD heifer cattle to take: take in/on/with hand: themselves your and to say to/for to sacrifice to/for LORD to come (in): come
Sa-mu-ên thưa: “Con đi sao được? Nếu Sau-lơ nghe tin, sẽ giết con thôi.” Chúa Hằng Hữu đáp: “Con dẫn theo một con bò cái tơ và nói rằng con đi dâng sinh tế lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.

Con sẽ mời Gie-sê dự tế lễ, và lúc ấy Ta sẽ bảo con việc phải làm, cho biết phải xức dầu cho người nào.”

Sa-mu-ên làm theo như điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán dạy. Khi đến Bết-lê-hem, các trưởng lão trong thành ra đón ông. Họ run rẩy hỏi: “Ông đem tin bình an đến chăng?”
5 and to say peace to/for to sacrifice to/for LORD to come (in): come to consecrate: consecate and to come (in): come with me in/on/with sacrifice and to consecrate: consecate [obj] Jesse and [obj] son: child his and to call: call to to/for them to/for sacrifice
Sa-mu-ên đáp: “Phải. Tôi đến dâng sinh tế lên Chúa Hằng Hữu. Các ông hãy dọn mình thánh sạch và đến dự tế lễ.” Sa-mu-ên làm lễ tẩy sạch cho Gie-sê và các con trai của người rồi mời họ đi dự lễ.

Khi các con Gie-sê đến, Sa-mu-ên nhìn Ê-li-áp, tự nghĩ: “Chắc đây là người được Chúa Hằng Hữu chọn!”
7 and to say LORD to(wards) Samuel not to look to(wards) appearance his and to(wards) high height his for to reject him for not which to see: see [the] man for [the] man to see: see to/for eye: appearance and LORD to see: see to/for heart
Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Sa-mu-ên: “Đừng chú ý diện mạo hoặc tầm vóc cao lớn, Ta không chọn người này. Loài người nhìn bề ngoài, còn Chúa Hằng Hữu xem xét trong lòng.”
8 and to call: call to Jesse to(wards) Abinadab and to pass him to/for face: before Samuel and to say also in/on/with this not to choose LORD
Gie-sê nói với A-bi-na-đáp, con trai mình, đi qua trước mặt Sa-mu-ên. Nhưng Sa-mu-ên nói: “Đây không phải là người Chúa Hằng Hữu chọn.”
9 and to pass Jesse Shammah and to say also in/on/with this not to choose LORD
Gie-sê bảo Sam-ma đi qua, nhưng Sa-mu-ên nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu cũng không chọn người này.”
10 and to pass Jesse seven son: child his to/for face: before Samuel and to say Samuel to(wards) Jesse not to choose LORD in/on/with these
Cứ thế bảy con trai của Gie-sê tuần tự đi qua trước mặt Sa-mu-ên. Nhưng Sa-mu-ên nói với Gie-sê: “Chúa Hằng Hữu không chọn ai trong những người này cả.”
11 and to say Samuel to(wards) Jesse to finish [the] youth and to say still to remain [the] small and behold to pasture in/on/with flock and to say Samuel to(wards) Jesse to send: depart [emph?] and to take: take him for not to turn: turn till to come (in): come he here
Sau đó, Sa-mu-ên hỏi: “Ông còn người con nào nữa không?” Gie-sê đáp: “Còn đứa con út, nhưng nó đang ở ngoài đồng chăn chiên và dê.” Sa-mu-ên bảo: “Cho người gọi nó về. Chúng ta sẽ không ngồi ăn cho đến khi nó về.”

Vậy, Gie-sê cho gọi người con út về. Người này có nước da hồng hào, đôi mắt trong sáng, dung mạo khôi ngô. Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Đây là người Ta chọn; hãy xức dầu cho nó.”
13 and to take: take Samuel [obj] horn [the] oil and to anoint [obj] him in/on/with entrails: among brother: male-sibling his and to rush spirit LORD to(wards) David from [the] day [the] he/she/it and above [to] and to arise: rise Samuel and to go: went [the] Ramah [to]
Sa-mu-ên lấy sừng dầu xức cho Đa-vít, trong khi Đa-vít đang đứng giữa các anh mình. Kể từ hôm đó, Thần Linh của Chúa Hằng Hữu tác động mạnh mẽ trên Đa-vít. Sau đó, Sa-mu-ên trở về Ra-ma.

Mấy người hầu của Sau-lơ tâu: “Có một ác thần từ Đức Chúa Trời đến để quấy rối vua.

Xin vua cho phép chúng tôi tìm một người chơi đàn hạc giỏi, để mỗi khi ác thần quấy rối vua. Người ấy sẽ chơi đàn để vua khuây khỏa.”
17 and to say Saul to(wards) servant/slave his to see: behold! please to/for me man be good to/for to play and to come (in): bring to(wards) me
Sau-lơ đồng ý: “Được rồi. Hãy tìm một nhạc công giỏi đem về đây cho ta.”
18 and to answer one from [the] youth and to say behold to see: see son: child to/for Jesse Bethlehemite [the] Bethlehemite to know to play and mighty man strength and man battle and to understand word: speaking and man appearance and LORD with him
Một người hầu nói với Sau-lơ: “Tôi biết một người con của Gie-sê ở Bết-lê-hem chơi đàn hạc rất hay. Không chỉ vậy—người ấy rất dũng cảm, nói năng cẩn trọng. Người ấy có hình dung lịch sự, và được Chúa Hằng Hữu ở cùng.”

Sau-lơ cho người nói với Gie-sê: “Hãy gửi người chăn chiên Đa-vít, con ngươi đến đây cho ta.”
20 and to take: take Jesse donkey food: bread and wineskin wine and kid goat one and to send: depart in/on/with hand: by David son: child his to(wards) Saul
Gie-sê bắt một con dê con, lấy một bầu rượu, với bánh, chất đầy lưng một con lừa và gửi Đa-vít đem tặng Sau-lơ.
21 and to come (in): come David to(wards) Saul and to stand: appoint to/for face: before his and to love: lover him much and to be to/for him to lift: bearing(armour) article/utensil
Vậy Đa-vít đến với Sau-lơ và phục vụ người. Sau-lơ rất thương mến Đa-vít, và Đa-vít trở thành người vác khí giới của Sau-lơ.
22 and to send: depart Saul to(wards) Jesse to/for to say to stand: stand please David to/for face: before my for to find favor in/on/with eye: seeing my
Sau-lơ nhắn với Gie-sê: “Hãy để Đa-vít ở lại đây giúp việc ta, vì ta rất hài lòng về nó.”
23 and to be in/on/with to be spirit God to(wards) Saul and to take: take David [obj] [the] lyre and to play in/on/with hand his and be wide to/for Saul and pleasant to/for him and to turn aside: depart from upon him spirit [the] bad: harmful
Mỗi khi ác thần quấy phá Sau-lơ, Đa-vít khảy đàn hác thì ác thần bỏ đi. Nhờ vậy, Sau-lơ được khuây khỏa.
