1 to/for division to/for gatekeeper to/for Korahite Meshelemiah son: child Kore from son: child Asaph
This is a list of the divisions of the gatekeepers. From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, one of the sons of Asaph.
2 and to/for Meshelemiah son: child Zechariah [the] firstborn Jediael [the] second Zebadiah [the] third Jathniel [the] fourth
The sons of Meshelemiah: Zechariah (first), Jediael (second), Zebadiah (third), Jathniel (fourth),
3 Elam [the] fifth Jehohanan [the] sixth Eliehoenai [the] seventh
Elam (fifth), Jehohanan (sixth), and Eliehoenai (seventh).
4 and to/for Obed-edom Obed-edom son: child Shemaiah [the] firstborn Jehozabad [the] second Joah [the] third and Sachar [the] fourth and Nethanel [the] fifth
The sons of Obed-edom: Shemaiah (first), Jehozabad (second), Joah (third), Sacar (fourth), Nethanel (fifth),
5 Ammiel [the] sixth Issachar [the] seventh Peullethai [the] eighth for to bless him God
Ammiel (sixth), Issachar (seventh), and Peullethai (eighth), for God had blessed Obed-edom.
6 and to/for Shemaiah son: child his to beget son: child [the] dominion to/for house: household father their for mighty man strength they(masc.)
Shemaiah, Obed-edom's son, had sons who were capable leaders and had great authority in their father's family
7 son: child Shemaiah Othni and Rephael and Obed Elzabad brother: male-relative his son: descendant/people strength Elihu and Semachiah
The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad. His relatives, Elihu and Semakiah, were also capable men.
8 all these from son: child Obed-edom Obed-edom they(masc.) and son: child their and brother: male-relative their man strength in/on/with strength to/for service sixty and two to/for Obed-edom Obed-edom
All these descendants of Obed-edom, plus their sons and grandsons, a total of sixty-two, were capable men, well qualified for their service.
9 and to/for Meshelemiah son: child and brother: male-relative son: descendant/people strength eight ten
Meshelemiah's eighteen sons and brothers were also capable men.
10 and to/for Hosah from son: child Merari son: child Shimri [the] head: leader for not to be firstborn and to set: make him father his to/for head: leader
Hosah, one of the sons of Merari, made Shimri as leader among his sons, though he was not the firstborn.
11 Hilkiah [the] second Tebaliah [the] third Zechariah [the] fourth all son: child and brother: male-relative to/for Hosah three ten
His other sons included Hilkiah (second), Tebaliah (third), and Zechariah (fourth). The total of Hosah's sons and relatives was thirteen.
12 to/for these division [the] gatekeeper to/for head: leader [the] great man charge to/for close brother: male-relative their to/for to minister in/on/with house: temple LORD
These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their family leaders, served in the house of the Lord, just like their brothers.
13 and to fall: allot allotted like/as small like/as great: large to/for house: household father their to/for gate and gate
Every gate was assigned by lot to different families, the least important equal to the most important.
14 and to fall: allot [the] allotted east [to] to/for Shelemiah and Zechariah son: child his to advise in/on/with understanding to fall: allot allotted and to come out: casting(lot) allotted his north [to]
The lot for the east gate fell to Meshelemiah. Then they cast lots for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor with insight, and the lot for the north gate fell to him.
15 to/for Obed-edom Obed-edom south [to] and to/for son: child his house: home [the] storehouse
The lot for the south gate fell to Obed-edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.
16 to/for Shuppim and to/for Hosah to/for west with gate Shallecheth in/on/with highway [the] to ascend: rise custody to/for close custody
Shuppim and Hosah received the west gate and the gate of Shallecheth on the road that leads up. They were always guarded.
17 to/for east [the] Levi six to/for north [to] to/for day four to/for south [to] to/for day four and to/for storehouse two two
There were six Levites on duty every day at the east gate, four at the north gate, four at the south gate, and two at a time at the storehouse.
18 to/for colonnade to/for west four to/for highway two to/for colonnade
Six were on duty every day at the west gate, four at the main road, and two at the courtyard.
19 these division [the] gatekeeper to/for son: descendant/people [the] Korahite and to/for son: child Merari
These were the divisions of the gatekeepers from the sons of Korah and the sons of Merari.
20 and [the] Levi Ahijah upon treasure house: temple [the] God and to/for treasure [the] holiness
Other Levites under Ahijah were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the what had been dedicated to God.
21 son: child Ladan son: child [the] Gershonite to/for Ladan head: leader [the] father to/for Ladan [the] Gershonite Jehieli
From the sons of Ladan, who were the descendants of the Gershonites through Ladan, and were the family leaders of Ladan the Gershonite: Jehieli.
22 son: child Jehieli Zetham and Joel brother: male-sibling his upon treasure house: temple LORD
The sons of Jehieli, Zetham and his brother Joel, were in charge of the treasuries of the house of the Lord.
23 to/for Amramite to/for Izharite to/for Hebronite to/for Uzzielite
From the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites:
24 and Shebuel son: descendant/people Gershom son: child Moses leader upon [the] treasure
Shebuel, a descendant of Gershom, son of Moses, who was the chief officer in charge of the treasuries.
25 and brother: male-relative his to/for Eliezer Rehabiah son: child his and Jeshaiah son: child his and Joram son: child his and Zichri son: child his (and Shelomoth *QK) son: child his
His relatives by Eliezer were Rehabiah, Jeshaiah, Joram, Zicri, and Shelomoth.
26 he/she/it Shelomoth and brother: male-relative his upon all treasure [the] holiness which to consecrate: dedicate David [the] king and head: leader [the] father to/for ruler [the] thousand and [the] hundred and ruler [the] army
Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the treasuries for all that had been dedicated by King David, by the family leaders who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders.
27 from [the] battle and from [the] spoil to consecrate: dedicate to/for to strengthen: strengthen to/for house: temple LORD
They dedicated a part of the plunder they had won in battle to help maintain the house of the Lord.
28 and all [the] to consecrate: dedicate Samuel [the] seer and Saul son: child Kish and Abner son: child Ner and Joab son: child Zeruiah all [the] to consecrate: dedicate upon hand: power Shelomoth and brother: male-relative his
Shelomoth and his relatives also looked after the gifts dedicated to the Lord by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the dedicated gifts were the responsibility of Shelomoth and his relatives.
29 to/for Izharite Chenaniah and son: child his to/for work [the] outer upon Israel to/for official and to/for to judge
From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were given outside duties as officials and judges over Israel.
30 to/for Hebronite Hashabiah and brother: male-relative his son: descendant/people strength thousand and seven hundred upon punishment Israel from side: beside to/for Jordan west [to] to/for all work LORD and to/for service [the] king
From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, were put in charge of the Israel west of the Jordan, responsible for everything involving the Lord's work and the king's service.
31 to/for Hebronite Jerijah [the] head: leader to/for Hebronite to/for generation his to/for father in/on/with year [the] forty to/for royalty David to seek and to find in/on/with them mighty man strength in/on/with Jazer Gilead
Also from the Hebronites came Jerijah, the leader of the Hebronites according to the family genealogies. In the fortieth year of David's reign the records were examined, and men of great ability were discovered at Jazer in Gilead.
32 and brother: male-relative his son: descendant/people strength thousand and seven hundred head: leader [the] father and to reckon: overseer them David [the] king upon [the] Reubenite and [the] Gad and half tribe: staff [the] Manassite to/for all word: thing [the] God and word: deed [the] king
Among the relatives of Jerijah were 2,700 capable men who were family leaders. King David put them in charge of the tribes of Reuben and Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They were responsible for everything involving the Lord's work and the king's service.
