Matthew 3
1 In then the days those comes John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of Judea
Pada waktu itu tampillah Yohanes Pembaptis di padang gurun Yudea dan memberitakan:
2 and saying; do repent; has drawn near for the kingdom of the heavens.
"Bertobatlah, sebab Kerajaan Sorga sudah dekat!"
3 This for is the [One] having been spoken of (through *N+kO) Isaiah the prophet saying; [The] voice of one crying in the wilderness do prepare the way of [the] Lord, straight do make the paths of Him.
Sesungguhnya dialah yang dimaksudkan nabi Yesaya ketika ia berkata: "Ada suara orang yang berseru-seru di padang gurun: Persiapkanlah jalan untuk Tuhan, luruskanlah jalan bagi-Nya."
4 Himself now John was having the garment of him of hair of a camel and a belt of leather around the waist of him; and [the] food was of him locusts and honey wild.
Yohanes memakai jubah bulu unta dan ikat pinggang kulit, dan makanannya belalang dan madu hutan.
5 At that time were going out to him Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region around the Jordan,
Maka datanglah kepadanya penduduk dari Yerusalem, dari seluruh Yudea dan dari seluruh daerah sekitar Yordan.
6 and were being baptized in the Jordan (River *no) by him confessing the sins of them.
Lalu sambil mengaku dosanya mereka dibaptis oleh Yohanes di sungai Yordan.
7 Having seen now many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to the baptism of him he said to them; Brood of vipers, who forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?
Tetapi waktu ia melihat banyak orang Farisi dan orang Saduki datang untuk dibaptis, berkatalah ia kepada mereka: "Hai kamu keturunan ular beludak. Siapakah yang mengatakan kepada kamu, bahwa kamu dapat melarikan diri dari murka yang akan datang?
8 do produce therefore (fruit worthy *N+kO) of repentance.
Jadi hasilkanlah buah yang sesuai dengan pertobatan.
9 And not may you presume to say within yourselves; [As] father we have Abraham; I say for to you that able is God out of stones these to raise up children to Abraham.
Dan janganlah mengira, bahwa kamu dapat berkata dalam hatimu: Abraham adalah bapa kami! Karena aku berkata kepadamu: Allah dapat menjadikan anak-anak bagi Abraham dari batu-batu ini!
10 Already now (and *k) the ax to the root of the trees is applied. every therefore tree not producing fruit good is cut down and into [the] fire is thrown.
Kapak sudah tersedia pada akar pohon dan setiap pohon yang tidak menghasilkan buah yang baik, pasti ditebang dan dibuang ke dalam api.
11 I myself indeed you baptize with water to repentance, however after me is coming mightier than I He is of whom not I am fit the sandals to carry; He himself you will baptize with [the] Spirit Holy and with fire;
Aku membaptis kamu dengan air sebagai tanda pertobatan, tetapi Ia yang datang kemudian dari padaku lebih berkuasa dari padaku dan aku tidak layak melepaskan kasut-Nya. Ia akan membaptiskan kamu dengan Roh Kudus dan dengan api.
12 whose winnowing fork [is] in the hand of Him, and He will clear the threshing floor of Him and will gather the wheat of Him into the barn (of him *o) the but chaff He will burn up with fire unquenchable.
Alat penampi sudah ditangan-Nya. Ia akan membersihkan tempat pengirikan-Nya dan mengumpulkan gandum-Nya ke dalam lumbung, tetapi debu jerami itu akan dibakar-Nya dalam api yang tidak terpadamkan."
13 Then comes Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John to be baptized by him.
Maka datanglah Yesus dari Galilea ke Yordan kepada Yohanes untuk dibaptis olehnya.
14 But John was hindering Him saying; I myself need have by You to be baptized, and You yourself come to me?
Tetapi Yohanes mencegah Dia, katanya: "Akulah yang perlu dibaptis oleh-Mu, dan Engkau yang datang kepadaku?"
15 Answering however Jesus said unto (him; *NK+o) do permit [it] now; thus for fitting it is to us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he permits Him.
Lalu Yesus menjawab, kata-Nya kepadanya: "Biarlah hal itu terjadi, karena demikianlah sepatutnya kita menggenapkan seluruh kehendak Allah." Dan Yohanespun menuruti-Nya.
16 (and *k) Having been baptized (now *no) Jesus immediately went up from the water. and behold were opened to Him the heavens, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and alighting upon Him.
Sesudah dibaptis, Yesus segera keluar dari air dan pada waktu itu juga langit terbuka dan Ia melihat Roh Allah seperti burung merpati turun ke atas-Nya,
17 And behold a voice out of the heavens saying; This is the Son of Mine the beloved in whom I was well pleased.
lalu terdengarlah suara dari sorga yang mengatakan: "Inilah Anak-Ku yang Kukasihi, kepada-Nyalah Aku berkenan."
