John 11
1 Was now a certain [man] ailing, Lazarus of Bethany of the village of Mary and Martha the sister of her;
En mann som het Lasarus, lå syk. Han bodde i Betania sammen med sine søstrer Maria og Marta
2 Was now Mary the [one] having anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and having wiped the feet of Him with the hair of her, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
Det var søsteren hans Maria, som hadde salvet Herren Jesus med aromatisk olje og tørket føttene hans med håret sitt.
3 Sent therefore the sisters to Him saying; Lord, behold [he] whom You love was being sick.
De to søstrene sendte nå et nødrop til Jesus og sa:”Herre, vennen din Lasarus er syk.”
4 Having heard then Jesus said; This sickness not is unto death but for the glory of God that may be glorified the Son of God through it.
Da Jesus hørte dette, sa han:”Sykdommen hans vil ikke lede til døden, men den skal tvert om vise Guds herlighet, slik at jeg, Guds sønn, blir opphøyd og æret gjennom dette.”
5 was loving now Jesus Martha and the sister of her and Lazarus.
Til tross for at Jesus var glad i Marta, Maria og Lasarus,
6 When therefore He heard that he is sick, then indeed He remained in which He was [the] place two days.
drøyde han ytterligere to dager der han var.
7 Then after this He says to the disciples; Let us go into Judea again.
Først da sa han til disiplene:”La oss gå tilbake til Judea.”
8 Say to Him the disciples; Rabbi, just now were seeking You to stone the Jews, and again You are going there?
Disiplene protesterte:”Mester, for bare noen dager siden forsøkte de religiøse lederne i Judea å steine deg. Vil du virkelig gå dit igjen?”
9 Answered Jesus; Surely twelve hours are there in the day? If anyone shall walk in the day, not he stumbles, because the light of the world this he sees.
Jesus svarte:”Det er dagslys tolv timer om dagen. De som nytter dagen til reisene sine, snubler ikke, for lyset skinner for alle.
10 if however anyone shall walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light not is in him.
De derimot som gjør reisene sine i mørke, de snubler etter som ikke lyset får slippe til.”
11 These things He said and after this He says to them; Lazarus the friend of us has fallen asleep; but I go that I may awaken him.
Han sa:”Vår venn Lasarus sover, men nå vil jeg gå og vekke ham.”
12 Said therefore the disciples (to Him; *N+KO) Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.
Disiplene trodde at Jesus snakket om naturlig søvn og sa:”Så bra! Dersom han sover, blir han snart frisk.” Men Jesus mente at Lasarus var død.
13 Had spoken however Jesus of the death of him; they however thought that of the rest of sleep He speaks.
14 Then therefore said to them Jesus plainly; Lazarus has died.
Derfor sa Jesus rett ut:”Lasarus er død.
15 And I rejoice for sake of you, in order that you may believe, that not I was there; But let us go to him.
Og for deres skyld er jeg glad at jeg ikke var der, for døden hans vil hjelpe dere å tro på meg. Nå må vi gå til ham.”
16 Said therefore Thomas who is being named Didymus to the fellow disciples; Let us go also us that we may die with Him.
Tomas, som ble kalt Tvillingen, sa da til de andre disiplene:”Kom, la oss følge med, så kan vi dø sammen med ham.”
17 Having come therefore Jesus found him four already days having been in the tomb.
Da Jesus kom fram til Betania, fortalte de til ham at Lasarus allerede hadde ligget fire dager i graven.
18 Was now Bethany near Jerusalem about away stadia fifteen.
Betania lå bare noen kilometer fra Jerusalem.
19 (and *k) Many (now *no) of the Jews had come unto (concerning *k) Martha and Mary that they may console them concerning the brother (of them. *k)
Mange menneskene hadde kommet fra hovedstaden for å trøste Marta og Maria i sorgen deres.
20 Therefore Martha, when she heard that Jesus is coming, met with Him; Mary however in the house was sitting.
Da Marta nå hørte at Jesus var på vei, gikk hun ut for å møte ham, mens Maria stanset hjemme.
21 Said then Martha to Jesus; Lord, if You had been here, not then would (be dead *N+kO) the brother of mine.
Marta sa til Jesus:”Herre, dersom du hadde vært her, da hadde ikke broren min behøvd å dø.
22 Nevertheless even now I know that as much as maybe You may ask God will give You God.
Likevel vet jeg at Gud vil gi deg hva du enn ber ham om.”
23 Says to her Jesus; Will rise again the brother of you.
Jesus svarte:”Din bror skal bli levende igjen.”
24 Says to him Martha; I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day.
Marta sa:”Ja, jeg vet at han skal bli levende igjen den dagen alle døde blir vekket opp til et nytt liv og Gud skal dømme menneskene.”
25 Said to her Jesus; I myself am the resurrection and the life; the [one] believing in Me myself even if even if he shall die he will live,
Jesus sa til henne:”Jeg er den som vekker opp de døde og som gir dem livet på nytt. Den som tror på meg, skal leve, selv om han dør.
26 and everyone who is living and believing in Me myself certainly not he shall die to the age. Believe you this? (aiōn g165)
Han får evig liv fordi han tror på meg, og han skal aldri noen sinne dø. Tror du dette, Marta?” (aiōn g165)
27 She says to Him; Yes Lord; I myself have believed that You yourself are the Christ the Son of God the [One] into the world coming.
”Ja, Herre”, svarte hun.”Jeg tror at du er Messias, den lovede kongen og Guds sønn, som skulle komme til verden.”
28 And (these things *N+kO) having said she went away and she called Mary the sister of her secretly having said; The Teacher is come and He calls you.
Hun gikk fra Jesus og dro hjem igjen. Der tok hun Maria til siden og hvisket til henne:”Jesus er her og vil treffe deg.”
29 She (then *no) when she heard ([she] rose up *N+kO) quickly and (was coming *N+kO) to Him.
Da Maria hørte det, reiste hun seg straks opp og gikk ut for å møte ham.
30 Not yet now had come Jesus into the village, but was (still *no) in the place where met with Him Martha.
Jesus hadde stanset utenfor byen på den plassen der Marta hadde møtt ham.
31 The then Jews who are being with her in the house and consoling her, having seen Mary that soon she rose up and went out, followed after her, (having supposed *N+KO) that she is going to the tomb that she may weep there.
Da alle som var i huset for å trøste Maria, så at hun skyndte seg ut, trodde de at hun ville gå til graven for å gråte der Lasarus lå. De fulgte etter henne.
32 Therefore Mary when she came to where was Jesus, having seen Him she fell of Him (at *N+kO) the feet saying to Him; Lord, if You had been here, not then would my have died brother.
Da Maria kom fram til Jesus, falt hun ned ved føttene hans og sa:”Herre, dersom du hadde vært her, da hadde ikke broren min behøvd å dø.”
33 Jesus therefore when He saw her weeping and the having come with her Jews weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled Himself
Da Jesus så hvordan hun gråt og sørget og hvordan de andre som fulgte med henne, også sørget og gråt, ble han heftig opprørt og skalv mens han spurte:
34 And He said; Where have you laid him? They say to Him; Lord, do come and do see.
”Hvor har dere begravd ham?” De sa:”Kom og se.”
35 Wept Jesus.
Jesus begynte å gråte.
36 Were saying therefore the Jews; Behold how He was loving him!
De som sto rundt, sa da:”Se så høyt han elsket ham.”
37 Some however of them said; Surely was able this [man] who having opened the eyes of the blind to have caused that also this one not may have died?
Men noen sa:”Han kunne helbrede en blind, hvorfor kunne han ikke også ha passet på at ikke Lasarus måtte å dø?”
38 Jesus therefore again being deeply moved in Himself He comes to the tomb; It was now a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
Enda en gang ble Jesus opprørt. Han gikk til graven, som var en grotte med en stein foran åpningen.
39 Says Jesus; do take away the stone. Says to Him the sister of the [one] (having deceased *N+kO) Martha; Lord, already he stinks; four days for it is.
Jesus sa:”Rull bort steinen.” Men Marta, søsteren til den døde, protesterte:”Lukten kommer til å være fryktelig, for han har vært død i fire dager.”
40 Says to her Jesus; Surely I said to you that if you shall believe you will see the glory of God?
Jesus sa til henne:”Sa jeg ikke til deg at dersom du tror på meg, skal du få se Guds herlighet?”
41 They took away therefore the stone (where was who having died laid. *K) Now Jesus lifted [His] eyes upwards and said; Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
De rullet da steinen bort. Jesus så opp mot himmelen og sa:”Far i himmelen, takk for at du har hørt meg.
42 I myself and knew that always Me You hear; but on account of the crowd which already standing around I said [it], that they may believe that You yourself Me sent.
Selv vet jeg at du alltid hører meg, men av hensyn til alle som står her, sier jeg det likevel, slik at de kan tro at du har sendt meg.”
43 And these things having said in a voice loud He cried out; Lazarus, come forth.
Han ropte med kraftig stemme:”Lasarus, kom ut!”
44 (and *k) Came forth the [one] having died bound the feet and the hands with linen strips, and the face of him in a headcloth had bound about. Says to them Jesus: do unbind him and do allow him to go.
Lasarus kom ut inntullet i liksvøpet og med ansiktet dekket av et tørkle. Jesus sa:”Ta av ham svøpet og la ham gå.”
45 Many therefore of the Jews having come to Mary and having seen (what things *NK+o) He did (Jesus *k) believed in Him.
Mange av dem som var sammen med Maria og hadde sett det Jesus gjorde, begynte nå å tro på ham.
46 some however of them went to the Pharisees and told to them what did Jesus.
Men noen gikk også til fariseerne og rapporterte det Jesus hadde gjort.
47 Gathered therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees a council and they were saying; What are we to do? For this man many does signs!
Da kalte øversteprestene og fariseerne sammen hele Det jødiske rådet for å diskutere situasjonen. De sa:”Hva skal vi gjøre? Denne mannen gjør jo mange mirakler.
48 If we shall let him alone Him like this, all will believe in Him, and will come the Romans and will take away of us both the place and the nation.
Dersom vi lar ham fortsette, begynner snart hele folket å tro på ham. Da kommer den romerske armeen til å ødelegge templet og utslette folket vårt.”
49 One however certain of them Caiaphas, high priest being on the year same, said to them; You yourselves not know no [thing],
En av dem, Kaifas, som var øversteprest det året, sa da:”Nå er dere desorientert og dumme!
50 nor (consider you *N+kO) that it is profitable (for you *N+KO) that one man may die for the people, and not all the nation may perish.
Selvfølgelig kan vi ikke la hele folket gå til grunne. Det er bedre for alle at ett menneske dør for at hele folket kan bli reddet.”
51 This now from himself not he said, but high priest being on the year that he prophesied that was about Jesus to die for the nation,
Dette sa ikke Kaifas av seg selv. Nei, etter som han var øversteprest dette året, lot Gud ham forutsi at Jesus skulle dø for hele det jødiske folket,
52 and not for the nation only but that also the children of God those scattered He may gather together into one.
Ja, ikke bare for det, men også for å samle og forene alle Guds barn som finnes spredt over hele verden.
53 From that [very] therefore day (they plotted *N+kO) that they may kill Him.
Fra den stunden av var de religiøse lederne fast bestemt på å drepe Jesus.
54 Therefore Jesus no longer no longer publicly was walking among the Jews, but went away from there into the region near the wilderness to Ephraim being named a city, And there And there (He stayed *N+kO) with the disciples (of him. *k)
Derfor gikk ikke Jesus lenger åpent omkring i Judea, men trakk seg bort til utkanten av ørkenen, til byen Efraim, der han oppholdt seg sammen med disiplene.
55 Was now near the Passover of the Jews, and went up many to Jerusalem out of the region before the Passover so that they may purify themselves.
Den jødiske påskehøytiden nærmet seg. Mange tilreisende fra alle distriktene kom til Jerusalem flere dager i forveien for å gå gjennom seremoniene for renselse før påsken begynte.
56 They were seeking therefore Jesus and were saying among one another in the temple already standing; What does it seem to you, that certainly not He may come to the feast?
De ville gjerne treffe Jesus, og mens de besøkte templet, spurte de hverandre:”Hva tror dere? Har han ikke tenkt å komme til påskehøytiden?”
57 Had given now (also *k) the chief priests and the Pharisees (commands *N+KO) that if anyone shall know where He is he shall show [it], so that they may seize Him.
Øversteprestene og fariseerne hadde gitt befaling om at den som visste hvor Jesus holdt hus, straks måtte melde fra om det. De ville arrestere ham.
