John 11
1 Was now a certain [man] ailing, Lazarus of Bethany of the village of Mary and Martha the sister of her;
Pada waktu itu, teman Yesus yang bernama Lazarus sedang sakit. Dia tinggal bersama dua saudarinya, yaitu Maria dan Marta, di kampung Betania dekat Yerusalem. (Maria ini yang akan meminyaki kaki Yesus dengan minyak harum dan mengusapnya dengan rambutnya.) Jadi kedua saudari Lazarus menyuruh orang pergi menemui Yesus untuk memberi kabar, “Tuhan, sahabat-Mu yang Engkau kasihi sedang sakit.”
2 Was now Mary the [one] having anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and having wiped the feet of Him with the hair of her, whose brother Lazarus was sick.
3 Sent therefore the sisters to Him saying; Lord, behold [he] whom You love was being sick.
4 Having heard then Jesus said; This sickness not is unto death but for the glory of God that may be glorified the Son of God through it.
Mendengar berita itu, Yesus berkata, “Penyakit itu tidak akan berakhir dengan kematian, tetapi justru untuk kemuliaan Allah. Dan melalui hal itu Aku sebagai Anak Allah juga akan dimuliakan.”
5 was loving now Jesus Martha and the sister of her and Lazarus.
Walaupun Yesus mengasihi Maria, Marta, dan Lazarus,
6 When therefore He heard that he is sick, then indeed He remained in which He was [the] place two days.
Dia tidak langsung berangkat ke rumah mereka, tetapi masih tinggal dua hari lagi di tempat-Nya bersama kami murid-murid-Nya.
7 Then after this He says to the disciples; Let us go into Judea again.
Sesudah itu, Dia berkata kepada kami, “Mari kita kembali ke Yudea.”
8 Say to Him the disciples; Rabbi, just now were seeking You to stone the Jews, and again You are going there?
Kami menjawab, “Guru, belum lama para pemimpin Yahudi hampir melempari Engkau dengan batu. Apakah Engkau sungguh-sungguh mau kembali ke sana?!”
9 Answered Jesus; Surely twelve hours are there in the day? If anyone shall walk in the day, not he stumbles, because the light of the world this he sees.
Jawab Yesus, “Setiap hari matahari bersinar selama dua belas jam. Kalau kita berjalan pada siang hari, kita tidak akan tersandung karena cahayanya menyinari kita.
10 if however anyone shall walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light not is in him.
Tetapi orang yang berjalan di waktu malam sering kali bisa tersandung karena tidak ada terang yang menuntun dia.”
11 These things He said and after this He says to them; Lazarus the friend of us has fallen asleep; but I go that I may awaken him.
Lalu kata Yesus lagi, “Sahabat kita Lazarus sedang tidur sekarang, tetapi Aku akan pergi ke sana untuk membangunkan dia.”
12 Said therefore the disciples (to Him; *N+KO) Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well.
Kami pun menjawab, “Tuhan, kalau dia sedang tidur, itu baik. Berarti dia akan sembuh dan bangun sendiri.”
13 Had spoken however Jesus of the death of him; they however thought that of the rest of sleep He speaks.
Kami pikir maksud Yesus adalah tidur biasa. Namun sebenarnya maksud Yesus ‘tidur’ dalam bentuk kiasan yang artinya ‘mati.’
14 Then therefore said to them Jesus plainly; Lazarus has died.
Karena itu, Dia berkata dengan terus-terang kepada kami, “Lazarus sudah mati.
15 And I rejoice for sake of you, in order that you may believe, that not I was there; But let us go to him.
Dan sebenarnya lebih baik waktu itu Aku tidak hadir di sana untuk menyembuhkan dia. Karena kejadian ini akan membuat kalian lebih percaya kepada-Ku. Nah, sekarang mari kita pergi kepadanya.”
16 Said therefore Thomas who is being named Didymus to the fellow disciples; Let us go also us that we may die with Him.
Salah satu dari kami, yaitu Tomas (yang biasa dipanggil si Anak Kembar), berkata kepada kami, “Ayo kita ikut Dia, supaya kita juga dibunuh bersama-Nya.”
17 Having come therefore Jesus found him four already days having been in the tomb.
Waktu Yesus dan kami murid-murid-Nya tiba di Betania, ada yang memberitahukan kepada Yesus bahwa mayat Lazarus sudah berada di dalam kubur selama empat hari.
18 Was now Bethany near Jerusalem about away stadia fifteen.
Kampung Betania tidak jauh dari Yerusalem, kira-kira tiga kilometer saja.
19 (and *k) Many (now *no) of the Jews had come unto (concerning *k) Martha and Mary that they may console them concerning the brother (of them. *k)
Pada saat itu banyak orang Yahudi sudah datang mengunjungi Marta dan Maria untuk menghibur mereka karena kematian saudara mereka.
20 Therefore Martha, when she heard that Jesus is coming, met with Him; Mary however in the house was sitting.
Waktu Marta mendengar bahwa Yesus sudah dekat, dia langsung pergi menjemput Yesus, sedangkan Maria tetap tinggal di rumah.
21 Said then Martha to Jesus; Lord, if You had been here, not then would (be dead *N+kO) the brother of mine.
Ketika mereka bertemu, Marta berkata kepada Yesus, “Tuhan, kalau Engkau ada di sini sebelumnya, saudara saya pasti tidak meninggal.
22 Nevertheless even now I know that as much as maybe You may ask God will give You God.
Tetapi saya tahu bahwa sekarang ini pun Allah akan memberikan kepada-Mu apa saja yang Engkau minta kepada-Nya.”
23 Says to her Jesus; Will rise again the brother of you.
Lalu Yesus menjawab, “Saudaramu itu akan hidup lagi.”
24 Says to him Martha; I know that he will rise again in the resurrection in the last day.
Dan Marta berkata kepada-Nya, “Saya tahu bahwa dia akan bangkit dan hidup lagi ketika semua orang dibangkitkan pada hari terakhir.”
25 Said to her Jesus; I myself am the resurrection and the life; the [one] believing in Me myself even if even if he shall die he will live,
Tetapi Yesus berkata kepadanya, “Akulah yang memberi kebangkitan dan hidup. Setiap orang yang percaya kepada-Ku akan tetap hidup walaupun dia sudah mati.
26 and everyone who is living and believing in Me myself certainly not he shall die to the age. Believe you this? (aiōn g165)
Semua orang yang masih hidup dan percaya kepada-Ku sebenarnya tidak akan pernah mati. Marta, apakah kamu percaya akan hal ini?” (aiōn g165)
27 She says to Him; Yes Lord; I myself have believed that You yourself are the Christ the Son of God the [One] into the world coming.
Dia menjawab, “Ya, Tuhan. Saya percaya bahwa Engkau adalah Anak Allah dan Kristus yang sudah dijanjikan untuk datang ke dalam dunia ini.”
28 And (these things *N+kO) having said she went away and she called Mary the sister of her secretly having said; The Teacher is come and He calls you.
Sesudah Marta berkata begitu, dia kembali ke rumah untuk memanggil Maria. Karena ada orang-orang lain di dalam rumah, Marta berbisik kepadanya, “Guru sudah ada di sini, dan Dia mau bertemu denganmu.”
29 She (then *no) when she heard ([she] rose up *N+kO) quickly and (was coming *N+kO) to Him.
Mendengar itu, Maria langsung berdiri dan pergi menemui Yesus.
30 Not yet now had come Jesus into the village, but was (still *no) in the place where met with Him Martha.
Saat itu Yesus belum masuk ke kampung. Dia masih berada di tempat Marta bertemu dengan-Nya.
31 The then Jews who are being with her in the house and consoling her, having seen Mary that soon she rose up and went out, followed after her, (having supposed *N+KO) that she is going to the tomb that she may weep there.
Kebetulan waktu itu ada banyak orang Yahudi yang sudah datang ke rumah Lazarus untuk menghibur Maria. Waktu mereka melihat dia berdiri dan cepat-cepat ke luar, mereka berpikir dia mau pergi ke kubur Lazarus untuk menangis. Jadi mereka mengikutinya.
32 Therefore Mary when she came to where was Jesus, having seen Him she fell of Him (at *N+kO) the feet saying to Him; Lord, if You had been here, not then would my have died brother.
Waktu Maria sampai di tempat Yesus berada dan melihat-Nya, dia langsung tersungkur dan bersujud di depan kaki Yesus lalu berkata, “Tuhan, kalau Engkau ada di sini sebelumnya, saudara saya pasti tidak meninggal.”
33 Jesus therefore when He saw her weeping and the having come with her Jews weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled Himself
Waktu melihat Maria dan orang Yahudi yang datang bersamanya menangis, Yesus pun merasa sangat sedih dan bersusah hati.
34 And He said; Where have you laid him? They say to Him; Lord, do come and do see.
Dia bertanya kepada Maria dan Marta, “Di mana kalian menguburkannya?” Dan mereka menjawab, “Mari ikutlah, Tuhan, dan lihat sendiri!”
35 Wept Jesus.
Lalu Yesus menangis.
36 Were saying therefore the Jews; Behold how He was loving him!
Karena itu orang-orang yang mengikuti Maria berkata, “Lihat! Yesus pasti sangat mengasihi Lazarus.”
37 Some however of them said; Surely was able this [man] who having opened the eyes of the blind to have caused that also this one not may have died?
Tetapi di antara mereka ada juga yang berkata, “Yesus pernah menyembuhkan mata orang buta, bukan?! Kalau begitu kenapa dia tidak melakukan sesuatu supaya Lazarus tidak mati?”
38 Jesus therefore again being deeply moved in Himself He comes to the tomb; It was now a cave, and a stone was lying against it.
Dengan hati yang sangat sedih, Yesus sampai di kuburan. Kuburan itu berupa sebuah gua yang ditutup dengan batu besar.
39 Says Jesus; do take away the stone. Says to Him the sister of the [one] (having deceased *N+kO) Martha; Lord, already he stinks; four days for it is.
Lalu Yesus berkata kepada orang-orang yang ada di situ, “Pindahkan batu itu.” Tetapi Marta berkata, “Tuhan, sudah empat hari mayatnya di dalam sana. Pasti sudah berbau.”
40 Says to her Jesus; Surely I said to you that if you shall believe you will see the glory of God?
Kata Yesus kepadanya, “Ingatlah apa yang sudah Aku katakan kepadamu! Kalau kamu percaya kepada-Ku, Allah akan menunjukkan kuasa dan kemuliaan-Nya yang sangat hebat kepadamu!”
41 They took away therefore the stone (where was who having died laid. *K) Now Jesus lifted [His] eyes upwards and said; Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.
Sesudah mereka memindahkan batu penutup tempat mayat itu dibaringkan, Yesus memandang ke langit dan berkata, “Bapa, Aku berterima kasih kepada-Mu karena Engkau sudah mendengar doa-Ku.
42 I myself and knew that always Me You hear; but on account of the crowd which already standing around I said [it], that they may believe that You yourself Me sent.
Aku tahu bahwa Engkau selalu mendengarkan Aku. Tetapi Aku berkata seperti itu karena orang banyak yang berkumpul di sini sedang mendengar doa-Ku, dan Aku ingin supaya mereka percaya bahwa Engkaulah yang mengutus Aku.”
43 And these things having said in a voice loud He cried out; Lazarus, come forth.
Sesudah berdoa demikian, Yesus berseru dengan nyaring, “Lazarus, keluarlah!”
44 (and *k) Came forth the [one] having died bound the feet and the hands with linen strips, and the face of him in a headcloth had bound about. Says to them Jesus: do unbind him and do allow him to go.
Lalu Lazarus keluar. Kaki dan tangannya masih terikat dengan kain pembungkus mayat, juga mukanya masih terbungkus dengan sepotong kain. Kemudian Yesus berkata kepada orang-orang di sana, “Bukalah kain-kain itu supaya dia bisa bebas berjalan.”
45 Many therefore of the Jews having come to Mary and having seen (what things *NK+o) He did (Jesus *k) believed in Him.
Saat itu, banyak orang yang hadir untuk menghibur Maria menjadi percaya kepada Yesus karena mereka menyaksikan sendiri keajaiban itu.
46 some however of them went to the Pharisees and told to them what did Jesus.
Tetapi ada juga dari antara mereka yang pergi kepada orang-orang Farisi dan melaporkan perbuatan Yesus.
47 Gathered therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees a council and they were saying; What are we to do? For this man many does signs!
Karena itu kelompok Farisi bersama para imam kepala berkumpul dengan anggota-anggota sidang Mahkamah Agama. Mereka membicarakan soal Yesus, “Apa yang harus kita lakukan? Orang itu melakukan banyak keajaiban.
48 If we shall let him alone Him like this, all will believe in Him, and will come the Romans and will take away of us both the place and the nation.
Kalau kita membiarkan dia terus berbuat seperti itu, pasti semua orang akan percaya kepadanya. Maka raja Roma akan menyuruh tentaranya datang menghancurkan rumah Allah dan semua orang Yahudi.”
49 One however certain of them Caiaphas, high priest being on the year same, said to them; You yourselves not know no [thing],
Salah satu di antara mereka bernama Kayafas yang menjabat sebagai imam besar pada tahun itu. Dia berkata kepada mereka, “Kalian tidak tahu apa-apa!
50 nor (consider you *N+kO) that it is profitable (for you *N+KO) that one man may die for the people, and not all the nation may perish.
Coba pikir: Daripada semua bangsa Yahudi binasa, lebih baik satu orang yang mati demi bangsa kita.”
51 This now from himself not he said, but high priest being on the year that he prophesied that was about Jesus to die for the nation,
Sebenarnya Kayafas mengatakan itu bukan dari pikirannya sendiri. Tetapi karena dia menjabat sebagai imam besar, tanpa sadar perkataannya merupakan nubuatan dari Roh Kudus bahwa Yesus akan mati untuk semua orang Yahudi.
52 and not for the nation only but that also the children of God those scattered He may gather together into one.
Dan kematian Yesus bukan untuk orang Yahudi saja. Tujuan pengurbanan-Nya adalah untuk mengumpulkan dan mempersatukan semua orang dari segala bangsa yang akan menjadi anak-anak Allah.
53 From that [very] therefore day (they plotted *N+kO) that they may kill Him.
Jadi, pada hari itu para pemimpin Yahudi mengambil keputusan untuk membunuh Yesus.
54 Therefore Jesus no longer no longer publicly was walking among the Jews, but went away from there into the region near the wilderness to Ephraim being named a city, And there And there (He stayed *N+kO) with the disciples (of him. *k)
Karena itu, Yesus tidak lagi berjalan secara terang-terangan di depan umum di antara orang Yahudi di provinsi Yudea. Dia pergi bersama kami murid-murid-Nya ke daerah yang sepi dekat kampung Efraim dan tinggal di situ.
55 Was now near the Passover of the Jews, and went up many to Jerusalem out of the region before the Passover so that they may purify themselves.
Beberapa hari sebelum orang-orang Yahudi merayakan Paskah, banyak orang dari seluruh negeri Israel pergi ke Yerusalem. Sesuai hukum Taurat, mereka datang beberapa hari sebelumnya untuk mengikuti upacara pembersihan diri sebelum perayaan tersebut.
56 They were seeking therefore Jesus and were saying among one another in the temple already standing; What does it seem to you, that certainly not He may come to the feast?
Pada waktu itu, karena para imam kepala dan kelompok Farisi mau menangkap Yesus, mereka mengeluarkan perintah seperti ini, “Bagi siapa pun yang mengetahui keberadaan Yesus, laporkan segera kepada kami!” Oleh sebab itu banyak orang mencari Yesus. Waktu mereka berdiri di teras rumah Allah, mereka sering berkata satu sama lain, “Bagaimana menurutmu? Apakah Yesus akan datang ke pesta ini?”
57 Had given now (also *k) the chief priests and the Pharisees (commands *N+KO) that if anyone shall know where He is he shall show [it], so that they may seize Him.
