Esther 1
1 And it was in [the] days of Ahasuerus that Ahasuerus who reigned from India and to Cush seven and twenty and one hundred province[s].
Il advint durant les jours d'Artaxerxès, qui régnait depuis l'Inde sur cent vingt-sept contrées:
2 In the days those when sat - the king Ahasuerus on [the] throne of royalty his which [was] in Susa the citadel.
En ces jours-là, tandis qu'il trônait en la ville de Suse,
3 In year three of reigning his he made a feast for all officials his and servants his [the] army of - Persia and Media the nobles and [the] officials of the provinces [were] before him.
La troisième année de son règne, il advint qu'il fit un festin à ses amis et au reste des nations, et aux hommes considérables des Perses et des Mèdes, et aux premiers des satrapes.
4 When showed he [the] wealth of [the] splendor of kingdom his and [the] honor of [the] glory of greatness his days many eighty and one hundred day[s].
Et ensuite, après leur avoir montré les richesses de son royaume, et la splendeur de ses joies et de ses trésors, pendant cent quatre-vingts jours,
5 And when were completed - the days these he made the king for all the people who were found in Susa the citadel from great and unto insignificant a feast seven days in [the] court of [the] garden of [the] palace of the king.
Lorsque les jours de ses noces furent remplis, il fit pendant six jours aux nations qui se trouvaient à Suse un festin dans le parvis du palais,
6 White material - cotton and violet material [was] held with cords of fine linen and purple on rods of silver and pillars of marble couches of - gold and silver on a pavement of porphyry and marble and mother-of-pearl and paving stone.
Orné de voiles du lin le plus fin, et de gaze tendue par des cordons de lin et de pourpre sur des socles d'or et d'argent, et sur des colonnes de marbre blanc et de pierre. Les lits, d'argent et d'or, étaient posés sur des mosaïques d'émeraudes, de nacre et de marbre blanc; et les couvertures transparentes, diversement brodées, étaient encadrées de feuilles de roses.
7 And they gave to drink in vessels of gold and vessels from vessels [were] differing and wine of royalty [was] much according to [the] hand of the king.
Les coupes étaient d'argent et d'or, et il y avait une petite coupe en diamant évaluée trente mille talents; on les remplissait de vin abondant et doux, le même que le roi buvait.
8 And the drinking [was] according to the law there not [was one who] compelled for thus - he had appointed the king on every chief of house his to do according to [the] pleasure of man and man.
Et le repas ne se fit pas selon la loi établie; le roi l'avait ainsi voulu, et il avait ordonné à ses économes de se conformer à ses propres désirs et à ceux de ses convives.
9 Also Vashti the queen she made a feast of women [the] house of royalty which [belonged] to the king Ahasuerus.
Et Vasthi, la reine, fit un festin pour les femmes dans l'intérieur du palais où résidait le roi Artaxerxès.
10 On the day seventh when was good [the] heart of the king by the wine he said to Mehuman Biztha Harbona Bigtha and Abagtha Zethar and Carcas [the] seven the eunuchs who served with [the] face of the king Ahasuerus.
Le septième jour, le roi, étant en belle humeur, dit à Aman, à Bazan, à Tharra, à Barazi, à Zatholtha, à Abataza et à Tharaba, les sept eunuques attachés à sa personne,
11 To bring Vashti the queen before the king with a crown of royalty to show the peoples and the officials beauty her for [was] good of appearance she.
De lui amener la reine pour qu'il la couronnât, qu'il posât sur sa tête le diadème, et qu'il la montrât dans sa beauté aux chefs et aux nations; car elle était belle.
12 And she refused the queen Vashti to come at [the] word of the king which [was] by [the] hand of the eunuchs and he was angry the king exceedingly and rage his it burned in him.
Mais la reine Vasthi refusa de suivre les eunuques, et le roi en fut affligé, et il se mit en colère.
13 And he said the king to wise men [who] knew the times for [was] thus [the] manner of the king before all [those who] knew law and judgment.
Et il dit à ses amis: Voici ce qu'a dit la reine, faites donc à ce sujet loi et jugement.
14 And the [ones] close to him [were] Carshena Shethar Admatha Tarshish Meres Marsena Memucan [the] seven [the] officials of - Persia and Media [who] saw [the] face of the king who sat foremost in the kingdom.
Et Arcesée, Sarsathée et Maliséar, princes des Perses et des Mèdes, ceux qui se tenaient près du roi, et qui s'asseyaient les premiers après lui, s'approchèrent.
15 According to [the] law what? [is] to do with the queen Vashti on - that not she did [the] command of the king Ahasuerus by [the] hand of the eunuchs.
Et ils lui firent connaître ce que selon la loi il était à propos de faire à la reine Vasthi, parce qu'elle n'avait point fait ce que lui avait commandé le roi par ses eunuques.
16 And he said (Memucan *Qk) before the king and the officials not on the king to only him she did wrong Vashti the queen for on all the officials and on all the peoples which [are] in all [the] provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
Et Muchée dit au roi et aux princes: Vasthi, la reine, n'a pas nui au roi seul, mais aussi à tous les princes et aux grands officiers du roi.
17 For it will go forth [the] matter of the queen to all the women to make despicable husbands their in eyes their because will say they the king Ahasuerus he said to bring Vashti the queen before him and not she came.
Et il leur dit les paroles de la reine, et comme elle avait contredit le roi, et continuant: De même, ajouta-t-il, qu'elle a contredit le roi Artaxerxès,
18 And the day this they will say - [the] noble ladies of Persia and Media who they have heard [the] matter of the queen to all [the] officials of the king and [will be] as enough of contempt and anger.
Les autres femmes des Perses et des Mèdes du premier rang, apprenant ce qu'elle a dit au roi, oseront à l'avenir ne point honorer leurs époux.
19 If [is] on the king good let it go forth a word of royalty from to before him and let it be written in [the] laws of Persia and Media and not it will pass away that not she will come Vashti before the king Ahasuerus and queenhood her let him give the king to fellow woman her good more than she.
Si donc le roi le juge à propos, qu'il rende un édit, qu'il l'écrive selon la loi des Perses et des Mèdes, que l'on ne puisse y déroger; qu'il défende à la reine de s'approcher désormais de sa personne, et que le roi donne le diadème royal à une femme meilleure qu'elle;
20 And it will be heard [the] decree of the king which he will make in all kingdom his for [is] great it and all the women they will give honor to husbands their from great and unto insignificant.
Et que l'édit qu'aura rendu le roi soit publié en tout son royaume. Alors, toutes les femmes mettront leurs soins à honorer leurs époux, depuis l'indigent jusqu'au riche.
21 And it was good the word in [the] eyes of the king and the officials and he did the king according to [the] word of Memucan.
Or, ce conseil plut au roi et aux princes, et le roi fit comme avait dit Muchée.
22 And he sent out documents to all [the] provinces of the king to province and province according to writing its and to people and people according to language its to be every man ruler in own household his and speaking according to [the] language of people his.
Et il envoya dans toutes les provinces de son royaume l'édit traduit en leurs diverses langues, afin qu'en toute demeure on eût crainte.
