Acts 19
1 It came to pass now while Apollos being in Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper parts (to come down *N+kO) to Ephesus and (finding *N+kO) certain disciples
Or il advint, pendant qu'Apollos était à Corinthe, que Paul, après avoir parcouru le haut pays, arriva à Éphèse et y trouva quelques disciples auxquels il dit:
2 he said (also *no) to them; If [the] Spirit Holy did you receive having believed? And (they said *k) to him; But not even that [a] Spirit Holy there is did we hear.
« Avez-vous reçu le saint esprit, après avoir cru? » Mais ils lui dirent: « Nous n'avons pas même ouï dire qu'il existât un esprit saint. »
3 He said then (to them: *k) Into what then were you baptized? And they said; Into John's baptism.
Et il dit: « De quel baptême avez-vous donc été baptisés? » Et ils dirent: « Du baptême de Jean. »
4 Said then Paul; John (indeed *k) baptized a baptism of repentance to the people telling about the [One] coming after him that they may believe, That is in (Christ *K) Jesus.
Mais Paul dit: « Jean a baptisé d'un baptême de repentance, en disant au peuple de croire en celui qui venait après lui, c'est-à-dire en Jésus. »
5 Having heard then they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus;
Ce qu'ayant ouï, ils furent baptisés au nom du seigneur Jésus,
6 And when was laying on them Paul the hands came the Spirit Holy upon them, they were speaking then in tongues and were prophesying.
et, après que Paul leur eut imposé les mains, l'esprit saint vint sur eux, et ils parlaient en langues, et ils prophétisaient.
7 There were then the in all men about (twelve. *N+kO)
Or ils étaient en tout environ douze hommes.
8 Having entered then into the synagogue he was speaking boldly for months three reasoning and persuading concerning the kingdom of God.
Cependant, après être entré dans la synagogue, il y parla librement durant trois mois, discutant avec persuasion sur le royaume de Dieu;
9 When however some were hardened and they were disbelieving speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, having departed from them he took separately the disciples every day reasoning in the lecture hall of Tyrannus (a certain. *k)
mais comme quelques-uns se montraient endurcis et incrédules, et calomniaient la doctrine en présence de la multitude, il s'éloigna d'eux, sépara les disciples, et discourait chaque jour dans l'école de Tyrannus.
10 This then continued for years two, so that all those inhabiting Asia hearing the word of the Lord (Jesus *K) Jews both and Greeks.
Or ceci dura deux ans, en sorte que tous ceux qui habitaient l'Asie entendirent la parole du seigneur, tant Juifs que Grecs.
11 Miracles then not being ordinary God was doing through the hands of Paul,
Et Dieu faisait par l'entremise de Paul des miracles qui n'étaient pas ordinaires;
12 so that even to the ailing (carrying *NK+O) from the skin of him handkerchiefs or aprons and departing from them the diseases the also spirits evil (coming out *N+kO) (from *k) (of them. *K)
c'est ainsi qu'on plaçait sur les malades des linges ou des mouchoirs qui avaient touché sa peau, et les maladies les quittaient et les esprits malins sortaient.
13 Attempted now some of (also *N+kO) of the itinerant Jewish exorcists to invoke over those having spirits evil the name of the Lord Jesus saying; (I adjure *N+KO) you [by] Jesus whom Paul proclaims.
Mais quelques-uns aussi des exorcistes juifs ambulants essayèrent d'invoquer sur ceux qui avaient des esprits malins le nom du seigneur Jésus en disant: « Je vous conjure par Jésus que Paul prêche! »
14 They were now (of a certain *N+kO) of Sceva a Jewish a high priest seven sons this were doing.
(Ceux qui faisaient cela étaient sept fils d'un certain Scévas grand prêtre juif.)
15 Answering however the spirit evil said (to them: *no) (indeed *no) Jesus I know and Paul I am acquainted with; you yourselves however who are you?
Mais l'esprit malin leur répliqua: » Je connais bien Jésus, et je sais qui est Paul; mais vous, qui êtes-vous? »
16 And (having leapt *N+kO) the man upon them in whom was the spirit evil, (and *k) (having overpowered *NK+o) (them all *N+KO) he prevailed against them so that naked and wounded fleeing out of the house that.
Et l'homme dans lequel se trouvait l'esprit malin, sautant sur eux, s'empara de l'un et de l'autre, et les maltraita de telle sorte qu'ils s'enfuirent de cette maison-là nus et blessés.
17 This now became known to all Jews both also to Greeks who inhabiting Ephesus and (fell *NK+o) fear upon all them and was being magnified the name of the Lord Jesus,
Or, ce fait vint à la connaissance de tous les Juifs et Grecs qui habitaient Ephèse, et tous furent saisis de crainte, et le nom du seigneur Jésus était magnifié,
18 Many then of those having believed were coming confessing and declaring the deeds of them.
et plusieurs de ceux qui avaient cru venaient confesser et dénoncer leurs actions.
19 Many now of those the magic arts having practiced having brought together the books were burning [them] before all; And they counted up the prices of them and found [it] of silverlings myriads five.
Or, un très grand nombre de ceux qui avaient pratiqué les arts curieux ayant apporté leurs livres, les brûlaient en présence de tous; et ils en supputèrent le prix, et ils trouvèrent qu'il se montait à cinquante mille drachmes d'argent.
20 thus with might of the Lord the word was continuing to increase and was prevailing.
C'est ainsi que, par la puissance du Seigneur, la parole croissait et prévalait.
21 After now were fulfilled these things, purposed Paul in the Spirit having passed through Macedonia and Achaia to go to Jerusalem having said that After being me there, it behooves me also Rome to see.
Mais, après que ces choses eurent eu lieu, Paul mit dans son esprit de se rendre à Jérusalem, après avoir traversé la Macédoine et l'Achaïe, disant: « Après que j'aurai été là, il faut aussi que je voie Rome. »
22 Having sent then into Macedonia two of those ministering to him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself remained for a time in Asia.
Or, ayant dépêché en Macédoine deux de ses auxiliaires, Timothée et Éraste, il prolongea lui-même son séjour en Asie.
23 Arose now at the time same a disturbance not small concerning the Way.
Ce fut à cette époque que survint un tumulte assez grave à propos de la doctrine.
24 Demetrius for a certain [man] named, a silversmith making shrines silver of Artemis, was bringing to the craftsmen no little business
En effet un nommé Démétrius, orfèvre, procurait aux artistes, par la fabrication de sanctuaires de Diane, un profit considérable;
25 whom having brought together also the in such things Workmen he said; Men, you know that from this business the wealth (of us *N+kO) is,
les ayant rassemblés, ainsi que les ouvriers employés dans ce genre d'industrie, il dit: « O hommes, vous savez que de ce profit découle notre bien-être,
26 And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but almost in all of Asia Paul this having persuaded [them] he has turned away a great many people saying that not they are gods through hands being made.
et vous voyez et entendez que non seulement à Éphèse, mais dans presque toute l'Asie, ce Paul a débauché par persuasion une foule considérable, en disant: « Ce ne sont pas des dieux, ceux qui se font à la main. »
27 Not only but this is endangered to us the business into disrepute to come but also the of the great goddess Artemis temple as no [thing] to be reckoned, to be (and *N+kO) also deposing (the majesty *N+kO) of her whom all Asia and the world worship.
Or, ce n'est pas seulement cette branche de travail que nous sommes menacés de voir tomber en discrédit, mais c'est encore le temple de la grande déesse Diane qui risque d'être tenu pour rien, et d'être bientôt dépouillé de la majesté de celle que vénère toute l'Asie et la terre entière. »
28 Having heard then and having become full of rage they were crying out saying; Great [is] Artemis of [the] Ephesians.
En entendant ces paroles, ils furent remplis de courroux, et ils s'écriaient: « Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens! »
29 And was filled the city (all *K) with confusion; they rushed and with one accord to the theatre having dragged off Gaius and Aristarchus Macedonians, fellow travelers of Paul.
Et la ville fut remplie de confusion, et ils se portèrent tous ensemble vers le théâtre, en entraînant Gaïus et Aristarque, Macédoniens, compagnons de voyage de Paul.
30 Paul however intending to go in to the people not were allowing him the disciples;
Mais, comme Paul voulait se présenter devant le peuple, les disciples ne le lui permirent pas,
31 Some then also of the Asiarchs being to him friends, having sent to him they were urging [him] not to venture himself into the theatre.
et quelques-uns des Asiarques, qui étaient de ses amis, le firent aussi prier de ne pas se rendre dans le théâtre.
32 Others indeed therefore some thing were crying out; was for the assembly confused, and most not did know for what cause they had assembled.
Cependant, tandis que les uns criaient une chose et les autres une autre, (car l'assemblée était en confusion, et la plupart ne savaient pas pourquoi ils s'étaient réunis),
33 Out of now the crowd (brought forward *N+kO) Alexander when were thrusting forward him the Jews; And Alexander having motioned with the hand was wanting to present a defense to the people.
on tira du milieu de la foule Alexandre que les Juifs mettaient en avant; et Alexandre ayant fait signe de la main voulait adresser au peuple une apologie;
34 (Having recognized *N+kO) however that a Jew he is, a cry there was one from all (about *NK+o) ongoing hours two crying out; Great [is] Artemis of [the] Ephesians.
mais, lorsqu'on eut appris qu'il était Juif, tous, d'une seule voix, crièrent pendant environ deux heures: « Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens! Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens! »
35 having calmed then the town clerk the crowd he says; Men Ephesians, who for is there (of men *N+kO) who not knows the of [the] Ephesians city temple-keeper as being of the great (goddess *k) Artemis and of that fallen from the sky?
Cependant le secrétaire ayant apaisé la multitude, dit: « Éphésiens! quel est l'homme qui ignore que la ville des Éphésiens est la néocore de la grande Diane et de son simulacre tombé du ciel?
36 Undeniable therefore are being these things necessary it is for you quietened to be and nothing rash to do.
Puis donc que ces choses sont incontestables, il faut que vous vous apaisiez et que vous n'agissiez pas à l'étourdie;
37 You brought for men these neither temple plunderers nor blaspheming the (goddess *N+kO) (of us. *N+KO)
car vous avez traduit ici ces hommes qui ne sont coupables, ni d'avoir pillé le temple, ni d'avoir blasphémé notre déesse;
38 If indeed therefore Demetrius and the with him craftsmen have against anyone a matter courts are conducted and proconsuls there are; they should accuse to one another.
si donc Démétrius et les artistes qu'il emploie ont quelque plainte à faire contre quelqu'un, les assises se tiennent et des proconsuls sont présents; qu'ils débattent contradictoirement leur accusation.
39 If however anything (beyond this *N+KO) you inquire, in the lawful assembly it will be solved.
Mais, s'il s'agit pour vous d'une question d'un autre ordre, elle se résoudra dans l'assemblée légale;
40 And for we are in danger of being accused of insurrection in regard to this day not one cause there is existing concerning which not we will be able (to render *NK+o) a reason (for *no) commotion this.
nous risquons en effet d'être accusés de sédition pour ce qui se passe aujourd'hui, car il n'existe aucun motif qui nous permette de rendre compte de ce rassemblement. »
41 And these things having said he dismissed the assembly.
Après avoir ainsi parlé il congédia l'assemblée.
